TMZ has reported that Michael “Mic” Todd, bassist for the rock band Coheed & Cambria, has been arrested for allegedly holding up a Walgreens not with a pistol or knife, but a bomb. Or at least a cellphone screen claiming to have a bomb.
According to police in Attleboro, MA, Todd showed a pharmacist a cell phone note that said he had a bomb and demanded Oxycontin. Todd managed to flee the scene by taxi with six bottles of the pain pill in hand. Todd apparently left the band for a period in 2006 to attend rehab.
Police say he was spotted in the cab and police were able to track it via the dispatcher to the Comcast Center where Coheed and Cambria were schedule to play that night — opening for the band Soundgarden.
The show does go on as the band released a statement Saturday night saying they will not cancel future shows and the tour will continue without Todd.
“We are surprised to say the least and will address the situation with Michael after the tour. For now, we just want to have a great time out here and finish with some killer shows in Boston, Poughkeepsie, Quebec City and Halifax.”
Todd was charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of prescription narcotics. He is being held on $10,000 bail and will be arraigned on Monday morning.
Here’s Todd performing with the band:

Report Post »For those of you asking “Who is this band?” they have been featured on Rock Band (Volume 1), several movie trailers and they continue to tour the world to sell out crowds. Claudio Sanchez! \m/

Posted on July 11, 2011 at 6:56amCrazy. I love the band Coheed and Cambria. Amazing concept band, and the band actually sells really well, so I am astonished the basist would do something like this. Goes to show you that some people are just idiots.

Posted on July 10, 2011 at 11:34pm@CheezWhiz I’m thinking that typo was deliberate. The most famous bassist I know of is Flea, from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, also known for playing Needles in the Back to the Future trilogy. Just thought I’d point out some rather inspired humor, or a humorous typo, have a nice night!
