Rolling Stone Attacks Bachmann’s Faith: ‘Crazed Divine Wind Kamikaze-for-Jesus’

Reading Matt Taibbi’s seemingly slanderous Rolling Stone piece on Michele Bachmann, his sheer disdain for the Minnesotta politician is more than evident. The article dances between attacks on Bachmann’s image to disagreement over her past policies, but the most defining fixture is Taibbi‘s overt disgust over Bachmann’s Christian views (the article is entitled “Michele Bachman’s Holy War“).
All-in-all, the piece is an attempt to discredit the congresswoman and GOP presidential candidate, while dismissing her as a laughable troll who has no place running for the American presidency (I’m not editorializing here. This truly seems to be its purpose).
Towards the beginning of the article, Taibbi proclaims: “…Michele Bachmann is almost certainly the funniest thing that has ever happened to American presidential politics.” He goes on to write:
Bachmann is a religious zealot whose brain is a raging electrical storm of divine visions and paranoid delusions. She believes that the Chinese are plotting to replace the dollar bill, that light bulbs are killing our dogs and cats, and that God personally chose her to become both an IRS attorney who would spend years hounding taxpayers and a raging anti-tax Tea Party crusader against big government.
Taibbi even calls Bachmann “bats**t crazy,” while comparing her to Kim Jong Il; he wonders if she is a “…rare breed of political psychopath, equal parts crazed Divine Wind kamikaze-for-Jesus.” The attacks are relentless and, in Rolling Stone fashion, they go on for pages (readers actually have to click “next” at least three times to reach the end of Taibbi’s vicious editorial rant).
In further addressing the anti-Christian tone of the piece, Taibbi mocks the notion that God speaks to mankind. Aside from bringing up a vision from God that Bachmann claims she and her husband both saw prior to meeting one another, Taibbi uses the following example to degrade her spiritual views:
She would later profess to complete surprise at God’s choice for her field of study. “Tax law? I hate taxes,” she said. “Why should I go and do something like that?” Still, she sucked it up and did as she was told. “The Lord says: Be submissive, wives, you are to be submissive to your husbands.”
These mentions are only a small portion of what is contained in the author’s hit piece. While there are certainly valid criticisms worth exploring — criticisms that responsible journalists would be within their bounds to examine — Taibbi’s attacks on Bachmann are slightly offsetting. You can see for yourself by reading the entire piece here.
This morning, Taibbi discussed his article on Imus’ radio show. In the interview, he describes the piece as a “profile” on Bachmann and contends that she’s not stupid. He tells Imus:
“The basic thesis is that everybody laughs at her because…she’s hilariously funny…but uh…she’s got a shot. She’s got a real shot..of…of winning the nomination…um…”
So, is this piece a “profile” or an attempt to hamper her nomination chances? Decide for yourself. Watch the Imus interview, below, for more:

When they encounter someone who has a different opinion they practically lose their minds. Ad hominem attacks, straw men, gross generalizations and outright lies are S.O.P. There is no reasoning with people like this. EVERYTHING they accuse conservatives of is projection. Those who actually read and comprehend just chuckle as both of these two titans of knowledge do more than enough damage to themselves.

Posted on June 22, 2011 at 2:49pm“The real problem with ATMS . is not so much that they destroy jobs, but that in at least 50 of 57 states you can’t conduct transactions in Austrian, making it difficult to withdraw enough cash to spread the wealth around to Midwesterners, who then become bitter and cling to guns and religion and antipathy toward people who aren’t like your doctor, who you can keep (if you like him) but you probably won’t because for extra cash he unnecessarily performs tonsillectomies and amputates the feet of people from Kansas, where a while back 10,000 were killed by a tornado that also air-raided villages and killed civilians in Afghanistan, from which we need to begin withdrawing troops by July so we can use the funds to save or create jobs for people who don’t use air pressure gauges to keep the tires on their cash-for-clunkers car properly inflated, requiring them to buy more gas than they otherwise would at $3.84 a gallon and thereby reducing their disposable income and causing them not to buy consumer products, resulting in slower GDP growth that can only be jumpstarted by another round of stimulus spending so the economy won’t go into a double-dip recession that would result in layoffs and a higher unemployment rate than we had even after the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that everyone knows was George Bush’s fault.

Posted on June 22, 2011 at 2:34pmI am a Christian. And as a Christian, I can say that Christianity has an image problem.
My faith is centered on the words of Christ in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I figure if I can’t determine how to live a Christian life from the words and action of Christ Himself, the entire remainder of the Bible isn’t going to help me.
To me it is plainly apparent that Christianity is about loving God and love, mercy, and compassion towards mankind.
To some groups, such as the Westboro Baptists, it seems they have gotten a message from the book that is the exact opposite. They are not alone, but they seem to be the most mislead.
When anybody sees ‘Christians’ espousing values of hatred, cruelty, and condemnation, it hurts the religion as a whole.
I am certainly NOT placing Michele Bachmann in that camp.
I am saying that I can see where some get a knee-jerk reflex against Christianity.
I am not comfortable with the idea that someone who allegedly has been told by God to become an attorney for the tax collectors, to have nuclear launch capability.
Jesus seemed to have a certain less than sterling opinion of tax collectors, and well, I find it quite odd that such would be a divine revelation. Maybe the Lord did reveal this to her, but it would be working in ways far more mysterious than I can grasp.

The Democrats don’t have anything to debate this election because they OWN the Keynesian economic program they forced upon us insisting the Stimulus would solve the problems. After all, Keynesian economics works in the Harvard model in the lab! The massive spending, massive page bills, and the excessive regulations being written by the EPA, among other agencies, that are choking this economy –only leaves a rational person with the idea that their goal is to destroy our economy. Why else would they keep doing the same thing? Why else would they insist on spending more and more and more? BO voted against raising the debt ceiling last time. Why not now? As for this piece about Bachmann, these people have no decency or shame. How are they any better than the ones who spewed hate against Bush or the ones who compare the Tea Party Patriots to Nazis? Too bad they have no real ideas for success.

Lack of a relationship with the one true God.
Putting idols before God, family and country. – Is television your idol? Can’t live without it? IT IS AN IDOL.
Is your job your idol? Spend more time there than with family or church? IT IS AN IDOL.
Is your spouse or children your idol? Do you put them before God? THEY ARE IDOLS. As Christians, GOD SHOULD ALWAYS BE FIRST!
Is your political party your idol?
Who are you serving and why? The condition of this nation cannot change without its people putting aside their idols and serving God.
Misguided and false doctrines. (Allah is NOT the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob)
Lack of knowledge.
Separation of Church and Society. (Matthew 5:16 AND Romans 12:21) – If your church has become a club with no or little outreach, it could be separated from society. If you are allowing society or accepting that society is able to preclude God from the public square, you are unable to let your light so shine. There can be no separation of Church from society in the sense that Romans 12:21 charges us to overcome evil with good. All too often church has become so grafted to society or ingrained in the humanist way that people cannot tell the sheep from the goats.
Lack of moral clarity. (1 John 2:15 )

Just another “Christ would have been a democrat” Troll.
_____
To me it is plainly apparent that Christianity is about loving God and love, mercy, and compassion towards mankind.
Matthew 22
37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
Luke 10
29 The man wanted to justify his actions, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
The story of the good Samaritan follows…
36 “Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits?” Jesus asked. 37 The man replied, “The one who showed him mercy.” Then Jesus said, “Yes, now go and do the same.”
Now I’m not sure what is more disturbing to me? Do you say that my view of Christianity is wrong? Or do you just think that no Republicans or Independents could or should have that view of Christianity?

Look at the man in the WH who says he is a Christian………do we feel like our Christian beliefs are respected?? I’ve been very troubled by the subtle vibes against Christians (and oft times, in favor of a different religion).
Would Romney‘s faith REALLY be worse than what we’ve got??? Did he “push” his religion as governor? If not……..then LOOK at WHAT HE’S GOT to OFFER.
And then show respect for that part of our Constitution.

To Whom it may concern,
After reading the slanderous piece on Michele Bachman by one of your hacks, Matt Taibbi, I felt compelled to write.
I am deeply disgusted at the depths rolling stone magazine will sink in printing an article of this nature, that serves two purpose only, to misinform your readers, and to slander congresswoman Bachman. Americans are getting tired of the vitriolic rhetoric from “writers” such as Matt Taibbi. I used to believe Rolling Stone was on the cutting edge, and delivered an honest perspective, but that time has gone. Rolling Stone is now a mouthpiece for the new progressive propaganda machine in America. I will never purchase your magazine again. I am also going to express my disgust with your advertisers and will not be supporting any products that advertise with you. I will advise anyone who will listen to do the same.
Attacks on upstanding American’s to push a progressive agenda will not be tolerated anymore. You did it to Sarah Palin, so now it’s Bachman’s turn. Yet you, and the rest of the media turn a blind eye to all the problems in the current administration. You’re hatred for conservative women is utterly disturbing.

Actually what they say does matter. I have many liberal friends who will take their word as gospel (sad but true). Don’t underestimate how many young voters this rag reaches.
From their website :
“Rolling Stone goes beyond just taking the pulse of youth culture. Rolling Stone is the pulse of youth culture.
Whether the subject is music, TV, movies or politics—over 12 million young Americans trust and turn to Rolling Stone every two weeks to keep them up on the subjects they care about most. Bold stories. Big interviews. Insightful commentary. All delivered with energy, passion, irreverence and a point of view that defines its audience.”

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 11:26amI’m with you. These slanderous journalists need to go. The lame stream media can learn from what my parents taught me, ” If you don’t have anything good to say, say nothing at all!”.

“@SLAPTHELEFT
People, stop attacking JROOK! She is a nice lady who volunteers alot of time to her favorie social causes. She always donates her own money to her favorite special interest groups. She even takes in strangers and feeds and clothes them. after all she is a liberal and they always go the extra mile for those in need.
Slap> Still waiting for the punch Line”
The punch line is the sarcasm inserted in his/her post.
@Lucy Larue
“I agree.
I am weary,so weary, of these Progressive males, with the cajones of two Le Seuer Peas, attacking principled conservative women.”
Don’t you mean “the cajones of two mustard seeds”?

These ubiquitous attacks are innoculating the voters against the attacks themselves!
Which means, the more you cry wolf, people stop listening to you.
The left has attacked conservative cadidates so consistently and with such hyperbole, people no longer even listen to them. That is why the lamestream media is plummeting to its own death.
I hear CBS intends to return to ‘non-biased’ “hardcore news.”

I’d appreciate having an additional channel to watch where I could get facts, and not just hit-pieces filled with hate and vitriol.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 2:44pmAs part of the democrap party, it’s the “media’s” job to soften up republican candidates. They are in charge of ‘body blows’….when they aren’t busy with propaganda. A military vernacular applies here, to wit: If you’re taking flak, you know you’re over the target. What’s unfortunate for the left, is that they necessarily expose themselves in attacks of this kind. Oh yes, they make points with their readership, but these are hardcore leftists to begin with, they are entrenched in marxist ideology and are in no danger of voting for other than ideological leftists. But for the average citizen, and we know that the average American citizen is ‘center-right’, they serve the republican cause, de facto. That’s exactly the reason The Blaze posted this story.

Posted on June 23, 2011 at 3:24pmJOHNGALT, the founders gave it more than lip service though. The 3/5 compromise regarding slavery in the Constitution was purposely consrtucted to eventually erradicate slavery. At that time representation in the House of Representatives (for purposes of representation, taxation and the Electoral College) was determined by 30,000 population, e.g., one representative for every 30,000 people. The compromise stated that blacks would be counted at a 3/5 rate, or in other words it would take 50,000 blacks to qualify one representative (does not affect free blacks). This would of course have the effect of reducing the representation or power of the slave states. Anti-slave representatives accepted this compromise in order to get a Constitution and to their thinking eventually force the end of slavery when the slave states realized the electoral power, taxes, etc., they were giving up.
These republican women know their history. Ms Bachmann, some few weeks ago, was correct in stating that the American Revolution actually started in NH. As it did some 4 weeks before the Battles of Lexington and Concord when the colonists attacked Ft William and Mary, near Portsmouth, NH, captured the British contingent and hauled down the Union Jack. And of course Ms Palin correctly identified the Battles of Lexington Green and Concord Bridge as being about gun confiscation.

Posted on June 24, 2011 at 1:39pmHere we go again. Liberals just can not state facts and truth. I could not even finish the article because it was so disgustingly biased and against her. ITs just unbelieveable they even attack the law university she attended calling it an outhouse and pahtetic because it wasnt the mighty Yale or harvardddddd. I really hope and pray that voting Americans realize this and see these totally biased ariticles written by these brianless liberals for the garabage they are. Like i say WHERE THE HELL ARE THE FACTS ???? The Liberals and press understand aswell as us conservatives that this if not the most important the 2nd most important election ever in are countrys history. They are gonna come swinging with all guns blazing and we must stop this because they have a plan and they are not as stupid as there policies. They have a plan like Obama said to“ FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE THIS COUNTRY” and guess what if you havent been paying attention, it is not a change that is good. Its a change were more people become sheep and more government officials and cronnie Beurcrats become rich and powerful. ITs all a plan.
