Romney Calls for Resignation: Holder ‘Brought Shame’ to Justice Department

Romney Calls for Holder Resignation

(The Blaze/AP) Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is calling on President Barack Obama’s attorney general to resign because of the flawed law enforcement initiative aimed at dismantling major arms trafficking networks on the Southwest border.

Romney tells reporters after a rally in New Hampshire that Eric Holder has misled Congress and has “brought shame” on the Justice Department through his handling of Operation Fast and Furious.

Operation Fast and Furious involved more than 2,000 weapons purchased by straw buyers at Phoenix-area gun stores. Nearly 700 of those guns have been recovered — 276 in Mexico and 389 in the United States, according to ATF data as of Oct. 20.

Controversy erupted over the intitiative after two assault rifles turned up at an Arizona shootout where border agent Brian Terry was killed.

Romney Calls for Holder Resignation

“Either Mr. Holder himself should resign, or the president should ask for his resignation or remove him,” Romney said in an interview on Fox News. “It’s unacceptable for him to continue in that position given the fact that he has misled Congress and entirely botched the investigation of the Fast and Furious program.”

While many Republican‘s have called for Holder’s resignation in regards to Operation Fast and Furious, one of the attorney general’s chief congressional critics, Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, said Friday that the operation’s failures were “not about any one person.”

Romney currently leads the pack of GOP presidential candidates in New Hampshire, polling at 36.2 percent, ahead of the next closest challenger Newt Gingrich at 19.6.

      Maybe I am confused on this subject…but didn’t Obama pick Holder for this job? And doesn’t the Attorney General carry out the wishes of the President? And if this is so…wouldn’t that make Holder..although a guilty party….a fall guy?

      Really? We have been taken over by Islam…Islam makes it’s money off of drugs..it is the Hezbollah Drug Cartel in Mexico..that Holder was furnishing drugs to. Do you remember Hilary becoming involved in this when it first started.? Did you know that our millitary was used to help the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood to take down our strongholds in the middle east? Did you know that we have 27 or 28 Muslim organizations in the US including Cair and the Muslim Brotherhood? Did you know that The Muslim Brotherhood founded Hezbollah? Did you know that it is their mission to establish a world wide caliphate…Sharia Law and that our prez is most likely to be known as the Chief Caliphater? There is nothing inept about this regime…they have performed with brilliant precision. Our Prez has at my calculation imported over 2 million muslims to make our population so far 3 million.. They offered 300-350 jobs to arab muslims in government alone not to mention the pro sharia in the presidential cabinet..We have Sharia Compliant Banks which directly benefit muslim organizations here. Really people..to say that this guy or his cabinet is enept…It just isn’t so..We are just fools.

      There isn‘t a law enforcement officer or judge in the country who’s not going against the Constitution.     I have to say that it took Mitt long enough to make up his mind. I mean Holder hasn’t done a thing to the New Black Panthers for voter intimidation three years ago when there is video footage of them doing so. This man doesn’t need to be in AMERICA much less hold this kind of job. We need someone that will uphold the laws on the books not just the ones he wants too.

    Mitt Romney can ask for Holder’s resignation until he turns blue in the face, but it won’t happen unless the ruling “Party” feels Holder is detrimental to Obama’s reelection. Otherwise Holder will need to be forced out of office, i.e. tried and prosecuted. If you really care, Mitt, call for prosecution!

    Newt is 68. He has admitted to his mistakes. Let’s think about this. Newt already has as much money as anyone needs to retire comfortably. Why would anyone that age subject themselves to the schedule of running for candidacy and the scrutiny of the liberal media. I‘m 49 and can’t comprehend why he would do it. Well, other than for the belief that Newt thinks. He has stated that his next 8 years will be dedicated towards helping his grandchildren. Newt financially has no real skin in this game other than trying to fix Washington. I don’t know. But, he’s the only guy who offers ideas. He does not say that those idea’s will be policy. Newt does state that those ideas are a starting point for debate. And…Newt is the only one who is offering starting points for debate. Except for Herman Cain with the 9-9-9 plan. And once again, Newt praised that idea. It’s a starting point for debate. This country needs to start debating. And for the first time COMPROMISE needs to come to the democrats. Republicans have compromised over and over again until we don’t even know what it feels like to be a Constitutional Republic anymore.

    That way, IF Romney flips again on Illegal Immigration, We can say he did, and he’ll be a one termer.

    I will still vote for Bachmann in the Primary. I will vote for Romney in the Geberal. I will NOT vote for Gingrich, I will stay home. And that is not just me talking, that’s every Conservative I know. Scores of households, 1000′s of dollars of contributions.

    As far as I am concerned, Newt wins the Nomination, the Democrat candidate wins the General.

      Sorry but I did that in the last election. I left the presidential choice blank and did not vote for McCain nor Obama. I thought this country needed and awakening and boy did it get one. I can’t do that again. This Country cannot stand another 4 years with Obama as the president. If that happens then this Country is dead.

      I will vote for whoever is nominated as the Republican candidate this time around. Anyone or anything is better than another 4 years of obama.
