Romney Courting Daniels Fans in Indiana

Romney Courting Daniels Fans in Indiana

At a campaign stop in Indiana, Republican 2012 hopeful Mitt Romney did not avoid praising popular governor, and to many party insiders ideal Presidential candidate, Mitch Daniels. The popular Indiana governor and former OMB director was out of the state for a book tour. Speaking before a crowd of 400 party activists Friday,  CBS news reports that Romney took no shame in making flattering references towards Daniels:

“‘Where’s Mitch in your government?’ one gladhander wondered. ‘Wherever he’d like to be,”‘answered Romney. ‘Mitch is an extraordinarily capable guy.’”

POLITICO notes that Romney‘s nice comments of Daniels may have more significance than just complimentary praise in the governor’s home state. Reports surfaced Saturday that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has been rethinking his repeated refusal to run for President in 2012, and has reportedly met to discuss the matter with major New York donors as well as Daniels this week. Daniels participated at an event with Christie in New Jersey Thursday, during which Daniels hinted he still believes Christie will enter the race:

“Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey and Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana appeared Thursday at a forum sponsored by Rider University in Lawrenceville.

Both said in response to one student’s question that their decisions not to run for president were made with their families.

But Daniels isn‘t ready to accept Christie’s answer, saying he believes Christie‘s ’no‘ means ’not yet.”

Daniels indicated to the New York Times last Sunday that he has occasionally been frustrated by the discourse in the campaign, and said that the field could benefit from at least one more contender whose candidacy was rooted in a message of fiscal discipline.

If a candidate, Christie poses a threat to garner support from a significant portion of center-right Romney backers, and conservative policy intellectuels fond of Daniels who have been hesitant in getting behind any individual candidate in the current field.

After announcing in May that he would not run for President following the end of his term as governor next year, Daniels has been one of the most sought-after endorsements of 2012.

      Sorry Mitch!!! Perry deserves no more slack than any of the other candidates and they all should be held to the same standard and scrutiny that everyone is holding Mitt Romney to.

      The establishment wants anyone but Mitt Romney….They want open borders and know that Mitt Romney is dead serious about securing our borders. That is why they are pushing Perry and if he isn’t up to the job they want Christie. They want anyone but Mitt because they realize that he is honest, believes very strongly in the Constitution and will keep his campaign promises and will not sell out to them. Do not be deceived by the anyone but Mitt movement it is all about choosing someone who will fill their cabinet and administration with CFR, Trilateral and Bilderberg members. Romney will not do that and sadly most of the others will. Do not be deceived, Mitt Romney may have things you do not like about him but he is the most electable person in our lifetime who will actually stand up against the shadow government and you can take that to the bank. Mitt truly does love this country and is more than competent enough and has the expertise to fix our many problems.

      You know, you may be right to some degree, but you don’t understand the mater of faith. Jesus says, if only you have the faith of a mustard seed, you could move a mountain. I am sure the same apply’s to that of a person pointing a gun at you as well. Jesus was only explaining the power of pure faith, something no man has accomplished, nor will again, until Jesus Christ returns. But, this is besides the point.
      I ask you, why do you have legs ? why do yo have arms ? why do you have a mouth ? why must you have oxygen ? why must you eat ? Why must you work ? the answer to these questions is the same as to that of which you ask. IF we have faith shouldn’t we be able to just exist with out eating, breathing, communicating, reproducing and so on.. Shouldn’t our faith in God expect he will just provide ?? The famous saying and that which recovering alcoholic/addicts know well, Faith with out works is dead. You must do the foot work my friend. It is the reality and fact that we can exercise free will or free agency. If we all did not have free will then there would be no good or bad, there would be no right or wrong, life would be reflective of that of which existed in the garden of Eden. Eve could not know good with out experiencing bad. They could just be, just exist in purity. Do you understand?
      Lastly, if you jump in the river and do not swim, will you not drown ? With faith pure enough, you could walk on water. Unfortunately, knowledge(tree) will ensure you can

    Romneycare = Obamacare

    Please notice one very important thing about Mitt Romney. He NEVER says he will repeal Obamacare. He says that he will send Obamacare to the states and let the states decide what they want to do. Most of the Obamacare bill is all about raising taxes and regulatons, including the government taking our bank account numbers and withdrawing our money when they feel that we owe them. Yes, it is in there. So many horrible things are in that bill. It is one gigantic power grab that robs us of our rights and liberties. Just don’t be fooled with Mitt Romney. He is keeping Obamacare if he is elected. We must have a candidate who will completely REPEAL Obamacare 100%. It must be destroyed. Congratulations to Hermain Cain. Repeal and replace President Obama’s health care law
      Mitt Romney believes that Obamacare must be repealed. On his first day in office, he will issue an executive order paving the way for waivers from Obamacare for all 50 states. Subsequently, he will call on Congress to fully repeal Obamacare, and advocate reforms that return power to the states, improve access by slowing health care cost increases, and make health insurance portable and flexible for today’s economy.

    Romney is no RINO, and is the best chance we have to fix this mess, besides the fact that he can beat Obama. Cain is great because he has been in the private sector, not so good that he has little experience in government. Perry would be great except all of his experience comes from him being in the government for the last 20 years. Romney is great in the business sector and has the needed experience in the government. And as for the talking points that he is liberal this couldn’t be farther than the truth. When he was a governor he fought to dissolve two state departments, yes that meant getting rid of a few state workers but like working for Bane Capitol sometimes he had to kill some jobs to keep the business a float and successful. I see him doing this in the federal government as well.

    RomneyCare as he wrote it was very conservative, it shrunk the government’s role in the health care industry and sadly the 85% liberal congress destroyed it. Read this on the Heritage Foundations website. They lay it out perfectly, in reports they wrote back when it was just past and when the Dems had obviously hindered the program.

And I bet that whatever useless billionaire who bankrolls Dr Paul will do so publicly in an attempt to ingratiate himself with the public and receive absolution for both himself and the Bilderberger Group in general. “See, see, we Bilderbergers liked Dr Ron Paul too, there just wasn’t enough interest in the US voting public at large to get him elected, but he did at least carry the state of Maine…” D@mn, that’s brilliant. Romney signed an assault weapons ban into law in Massachusetts, but Romney now says that he doesn’t support a federal assault weapons ban. Romney signed a socialized medicine package into law in Massachusetts aka Romneycare, but Romney now says that he doesn’t support socialized medicine at the federal level aka Obamacare. Can we trust him now? Let’s see:

      Romney was asked if he was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and he said that he was NOT a member of the CFR. Romney also stated publicly that he personally owned a firearm. Later it was exposed that Romney had LIED on both counts: Romney IS a member of the CFR, and he does NOT personally own a firearm.

      It has been both implied and explicitly stated that Romney MUST be conservative because he belongs to the most whitebread religion of all religions, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints aka the Mormons. Harry Reid, however, is also known to be a Mormon. Ironically, the Book of Mormon says, “Wo unto the liar, for he shall be thrust down to hell.” (2 Nephi 9:34) Maybe Romney should read it.

      @PIGPEN,

      You are a total liar, show me one ounce of creditable proof that Mitt is a member of the CFR. I have searched and searched diligently because for me that would be big and haven’t found one shred of creditable evidence of this and the CFR does put out membership lists. Newt Gingrich, Colin Powell, yes Mitt Romney not even close stop lying!

    At NHABE64 I just left the Herman Cain love fest on another blog here. I understand the enthusiasm. Given that there is a huge conservative voice here at The Blaze, its a generally informed, articulate, and a well read conservative base (save for those that insist on bringing in religion into the political discourse which in my mind does not mix.) That said, in my circles which is painfully large due to my job, and deeply conservative, monied and informed if the objective is to secure in 2012 a change in the Presidency, it is I fear not going to be on the shoulders of Cain due, and as much as I hate to say this its because of his tenure at the Federal Reserve and here it comes he is black. Now I am not saying its Perry, in fact if I hear “scary Perry” or “all hat and no cattle” I am going to shoot myself, He has fallen from whatever pedestal he may have had here in Texas farther than anyone here posting can imagine. (His cronyism has been the fodder of discontent to a degree I really never thought possible never mind his views on illegal alien tuition breaks. But as refreshing as Cain may be to many, there is an inexplicable, deep seated, ignorance, and misplaced bigotry in the Party that will, if the feed back I am hearing is any indication, will only result in the election for ours to lose.
    The Blaze in its own way is a far more progressively informed voice that is in short supply here in the South. Not sure a Mormon is going to be any better. Sad times……

      I wouldn‘t not vote for Cain because he’s black, I’m uncertain about Cain because of his time at the FR. I am however tired of the “Mormon” talk. You specifically mention bigotry in your somewhat rambling, nonsensical post but you appear to be what you are saying others are; a bigot. I am a mormon and I would never vote for Romney because he does not share my values. I am also a hard core conservative and I will vote for whomever will restore the Contitution, be he/she black, white, or hispanic.

      I‘m not so sure that you’re a person I want fighting beside me in the trenches. What happens if you found out I was a mormon. Would you have my back? Probably not. Me, I‘d have yours because I’d respect you for your beliefs because that’s what our country is about. Freedom to be who we want.

      Yes, it is a sad day when a conservative will turn on another conservative because of religion.

    Mitt Romney looks important and great in a suit, he looks Presidential alright but I only have one problem. I DON’T TRUST HIM! Never have, never will. I think he is a career politician and I am in no way confident he would be looking out for the interests of We the People and not himself first. Just the way I feel. Herman Cain is my choice and great VP’s for him would be Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Marco Rubio, Allen West, and perhaps Chris Christi if he could control Christi. Not sure on that one but I do like the big guy.
    Go Herman Cain!!!

      @Chris Christi is a Muslim defender. None of the contenderes want to keep Social Security or Medicare except for Romney. Romney wants to fix it…the only one who wants to fix it. Otherwise, our elderly and disabled will be on the streets. Bachman, Perry , Cain…..none of them want to fix it but Romney. Romney has a plan for staightening out the illegal mess…he’s for our people first. Romney handles himself like a professional..he’s also a man of faith. He has lowered taxes in his state. None of these others except Perry has any experience and Perry’s has not been a good one. He raised taxes, he preferrs illegals over our own and he takes credit for job growth when it predated his governorship.Romney’s the only sensible choice. Believe me..one day you are going to want a President who will make sure you won’t have to live on the street. There is never a guarantee in life.

      ROmney is not a career politician. He is not a Washington insider. He was the Republican governor of the most liberal state in the nation for 4 years. I would like to see how Daniels would have done being governor of a state where 85% of the legislature are liberal Democrats. Daniels would not have been able to implement his plans because the legislative majority would have vetoed his bills. Romney did not get reelected because his Conservative ideas like cracking down on illegal immigration did not sit well with liberals. Besides the 4 years as governor,he has spent the rest of his career in the private sector.

      If Romney was just looking out for himself he would not choose to run for president…..he already has the American dream life. Could it be he just wants everybody else to have a chance for the same.
      2008 he said he would take no pay as president….yeah that sure sounds like he is in for himself.
