Romney Fundraisers Desperate for a Vice Presidential Pick

Mitt Romney’s fundraising since the 2012 race began in earnest has already been relatively impressive, to the point that it has prompted several panicked emails from DNC fundraising representatives begging for money. However, the people responsible for Romney’s fundraising haul have already set their heights on even greater success, once they have not one, but two candidates to fundraise off of. For that reason, the Daily reports that Romney surrogates are licking their chops in anticipation of Romney’s Vice Presidential pick, which is expected to come any day.
With Mitt Romney expected to pick a running mate any day now, top Republican fundraisers are deep into planning a fundraising blitz that will immediately send their new VP candidate across the country to rack up cash from donors eager to hob-knob with the second half of the ticket.
Much depends on who is chosen and when the pick is announced, but ambitious plans are being pushed forward in the hopes of pulling off more than a dozen fundraisers headlined by the vice presidential nominee before the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., at the end of August, according to several Romney insiders. [...]
Republican fundraisers who have been gleeful over their financial success are eager to start the phase of the campaign when they have two bona fide candidates they can deploy to different events.
Unsurprising, and given Romney’s already impressive fundraising (most of which he has yet to spend), one imagines that this increased amount of money will lead to an even more devastating Romney counter-punch once the campaign begins spending its money in earnest.
As to who the nominee will be, conventional wisdom still revolves around Rob Portman, Tim Pawlenty and Bobby Jindal, though Paul Ryan is being aggressively pushed in some corners.

Posted on August 4, 2012 at 7:32amJindal and Rubio aren’t eligible because, while they are citizens, they are not Natural Born Citizens, due to their parents not being citizens at the time of R’s & J’s births. Selection of either would result in loss of conservative votes for Romney. West or Ryan would be the best picks. West would give blacks another option than Obama, and either would draw in conservative votes for Romney.

Per the Constitution…Notice no mention of parents birth place or citizenship status. The President, not his parents, must be natural born. Remember, at the time of the writing of the Constitution, none of the founders were United States Citizens as we understand today. They were all born as British subjects in British America.

Posted on August 4, 2012 at 11:56amI have a theory about VP picks that has been right ever since Regan…The presidential nominee picks someone further to the right or left then themselves. This way they can appear more moderate and use the VP to sure up the “base”. And if elected who from the opposing party is going to assinate them. Think about it…would the right shoot Clinton and end up with Al Gore?! Would the left shoot Bush and end up with Chenney?! How about Obama, as much as we dislike him, BIDEN! McCain – Palin. Regan was concidered far right so he was pressued by his party to pick a moderate, Bush. And he was shot! Just saying

If Romney doesn’t pick those….and Ryan is the least on that list but he’s an objectivist republican (which I find dangerous because of how insensitive it comes across).
West is a solid man and historically would look beautiful. Still….having an open libertarian in office wouldn’t look bad either…and by chance might look better.

Posted on August 4, 2012 at 5:41amGuarantee you the GOP will pick a boring white guy for VP because that is what Republicans do, play it safe. A party with no spine; we’ll get the typical clean-cut stiffs. If 2008 wasn’t bad enough, now we got a choice between RomneyCare or ObamaCare?? The difference is one has a R in front of his name while the other has a D…

Posted on August 3, 2012 at 11:40pmObama’s eligibility has been thoroughly discussed on the internet. explaining the fact that both parents of a VP or presidential candidate must have been born in the USA. Both of Rubio’s parents were born in Cuba. He is not eligible to be the VP candidate. Allen West is the best choice. Many blacks who are sorely disappointed with Obama, but who might still vote for him, would be given a much better alternative in Allen West. Allen West is a patriotic American, well educated, a retired Lt. Colonel and a person whom many Americans would gladly vote for as president when Romney’s term is up.
Report Post »LoveOurRepublic
Posted on August 4, 2012 at 7:24amAgree … West would be a great pick, providing the blacks another option than Obama, and would draw in many conservatives. Rubio is also not eligible for the same reasons. Selecting either Rubio or Jindal would result I suspect in a loss of conservative votes for Romney.

Posted on August 4, 2012 at 10:34amCant agree with you. I love, love love West but you have to think nationally about winning the election and West is way too polarizing a choice – Romney wont take that risk Beyond that, Romney has said that he wants someone that is qualified to be President now – that should eliminate West as a one term Congressman. He’s an incredibly impressive and accomplished individual and although its probably impossible I wish we had representation as qualified and honorable as West in New York – but realistically West isnt a good or practical choice for VP in this election.

Instead of Spending the money on TV an Radio Ads.
Send All the undecided Voters a Check.
That can only be cashed with a returned Ballot.
Voting for Mitt.
I’m Sure this is Illegal, an since I’m in one of the Reddest

Just an Idea but it makes as much sense as Spending a Billion

Posted on August 3, 2012 at 9:48pmPick Pawlenty and lose. What is this fascination with him? He offers exactly squat. Pick whomever the most conservative person that the left fears and you win. This person must be able to articulate conservatism, since Romney struggles with it. There are a lot of people with conservative values that don’t even know it because they have been indoctrinated. Rubio or Alan West would be great. Jindal and Ryan are good too. I don’t know much about Portman. IMHO, Palin gave McCain’s campaign life. “My friend” McCain makes drying paint look exciting. He would have lost by 20 points without Palin. The Dems know it which is why they are trying to influence the pick. I hope Romney and Americans are smart enough to see it.

Posted on August 3, 2012 at 11:19pmWe’ve got a serious voter fraud problem here in Florida. It’s not the illegal immigrant vote or the dead vote, it’s the New York vote. Florida is infested with millions of wealthy New Yorkers who moved here to protect their wealth from New York’s outrageously high taxes. But they still support Obama, because they have that hypocritical limousine liberal attitude. Taxes are for the little people, you know. On election day they go to the polls here in Florida, after they have already mailed absentee ballots to New York. So they get to vote twice. This has been an ongoing problem through several election cycles, and the true locals are really pi$$ed off about it. But the election officials won’t bother to listen to us, because most of them are transplanted limousine liberals themselves.

Posted on August 3, 2012 at 10:01pmDon’t believe the polls. Only a couple are reputable (a.k.a. not liberal funded) and even those are going to keep it close to make money. You’ll see the truth in the last few weeks, so they can save face. They over-sample Dems (e.g. Pew poll) to support the agenda. If you sample mostly iPhone owners, what would their device preference likely be? Also, look at the sample demographic. Persons = crap, registered voters = mostly crap, and likely voters = better. Dig deeper into the polls for the real story. The harder to find, the more BS. Believe none of it because everything today is spin. Just show up on Nov. 6th and be counted (maybe twice if you’re a Lib or dead).
