LAS VEGAS (AP) — A confident Mitt Romney is looking past his GOP opponents and Nevada’s caucuses the day the state votes. Chief rival Newt Gingrich is bracing for defeat in a state the former Massachusetts governor won in 2008.
Romney was scheduled to fly to Colorado Saturday morning for a campaign rally before returning to Las Vegas for a party with supporters at a casino a few miles from the Las Vegas Strip. In a sign that he expects to lose, Gingrich planned a simple statement instead of an event.
Romney cruised to victory in Florida last Tuesday, handily won this state four years ago and is heavily favored to win Saturday’s contest. Gingrich, Texas Rep. Ron Paul and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum also are on the ballot. But Romney, a Mormon, has an existing network of support from his 2008 race and likely will again benefit from the support of members of his church, many of whom live in Nevada.
Gingrich is still struggling after losing to Romney in Florida. He’s facing a month of contests that favor Romney and only one scheduled debate, opportunities that have helped him in the past.
Gingrich acknowledged Romney’s likely victory and cast the vote in Nevada as a fight for second place.
“I think our hope is that we may be able to come in second, although Ron Paul is very organized,” the former House speaker told Fox News in an interview Friday. “We‘re going all out to see if we can’t be a good solid second here, and then we’re on to Colorado and Minnesota.”
Romney ignored his chief rival, instead projecting himself as the likely Republican nominee.
“I‘m convinced that I can beat Barack Obama and I don’t think anyone else can,” he told volunteers making phone calls for him Friday.
He accused the president of failing to do enough to create jobs as he campaigned in a state with sky-high unemployment and foreclosure rates. Nevada’s unemployment rate was 12.6 in December – well above the national average – after a record economic bust.
As he swept through Reno, Elko and Las Vegas, Romney sought to convince weary voters that he alone had the prescriptions for what ails the country – even as the government reported that a quarter-million Americans streamed back into the workforce in January and unemployment tumbled to 8.3 percent. Romney acknowledged the brightening economic picture but argued that it had little to do with Obama or his policies.
“The policies of this administration have not been helpful. They, in fact, have been harmful. They have slowed down the recovery, made it more difficult,” Romney said at a home and yard supply company in Reno, where he talked about the economy with local business leaders. “The president deserves the blame that he’ll receive in this campaign.”
Gingrich, in an interview on CNN, said the Democrat’s policies have driven up the national debt and raised the price of gasoline.
“The economy even at 8.3 percent is dramatically weaker than it was under Ronald Reagan at this exact same point in his first term,” he said.
But as Gingrich looks to recover from a shellacking in Florida, he chose to spend much of his time hammering home his latest argument against a Romney presidency – that there is virtually no difference between Romney and Obama.
For the second day in a row, Gingrich castigated Romney for saying that he’s not focused on the poor because they already have a safety net. Romney has said he misspoke, but Gingrich sought to use the moment to gain the upper hand, saying it’s another instance where Romney and Obama are similar.
“Obama is big food stamp. He’s little food stamp. But they both think foods stamps are OK,” Gingrich said. “I don’t think food stamps are the future for America.”

He won in the state next to his home state, but had been behind by double digits in the polls before his Jon King moment. He then turned around and lost by double digits in Florida, the most important state in the general election.
Now it looks like he is about to lose big in Nevada, where Catholics outnumber Mormons 3 to 1. Who is the front runner?

Posted on February 4, 2012 at 4:10pmThe problem is OBAMA HAS NOT TRIED ANYTHING – on his own. OTHERS, such as Soros, have told him what to do. OBAMA IS A MARXIST SOCIALIST THRU AND THRU. He is no Christian as he claims. The scripture he talked about the other WAS SO OUT OF CONTEXT that I almost threw up, LITERALLY. Obama has such an evil mind and he does not know it. It was all in the way he was raised and taught. HE ACTUALLY THINKS THAT HIS SOCIALISM IS WHAT AMERICA WANTS AND SHOULD BE. The problem I see is that our Constitution SHOULD BE GREAT THAN OBAMA. So, whenever Obama or anyone else talks about it being outdated or changed, THEY SHOULD BE IMPEACHED for a form of treason. Afterall, when a politician swears to uphold our Constitution and then MOCKS IT by changing or altering from it in everyday policies, HE SHOULD BE OUSTED FROM OFFICE IMMEDIATELY.
Our Forefathers are crying in Heaven for what is happening on earth. GOD is ashamed of everyone of us for not standing up to Obama and his evil minions. Voting/supporting for a PROGRESSIVE, whether it be Romney, Newt, or Obama (all ARE Progressives), IS TURNING YOUR BACK ON BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES. Posted on February 4, 2012 at 8:06pmMUTINY, if Ron Paul did not legalize illicit drugs and had a foreign policy that wasn’t isolationism, I would not have a problem voting for him. Isolationism is the downfall of the planet, not just the country. I wish this wasn’t true, but it is.
We have been graced by the fact we haven’t had any real fighting on USA soil in almost a century, last thing I want to do is have to do such a thing, or at best, watch the news to see whether or not there have been more terrorist acts on our soil. You think that wouldn’t happen? Between the Communists, Progressives, Taliban and other Muslim radicals, the USA is the only thing standing in the way of a One World Order. Since the end of WWII, infiltration has been the only means of attacking us, with a few exceptions, so what do you think life would be if we pulled out of the rest of the world? His policy is equivalent to a person doing a report by watching a movie, but standing at the door outside a movie theater which won’t do any good, especially if the movie is a silent movie. The world is too complex a place to remain a bystander. We are broke. Currently we are borrowing money from China to build roads and hospitals in Afghanistan. We have 900 bases in 130 countries. Why? We are the only super power in the world. We have a navy that is stronger than all the navies in the world combined. We have unmatched air power. We can sit with our carriers off any ones coast and provide the same protection we do now minus building other nations and having IEDs blow up our troops.
Look Ron Paul will go to congress for a war declaration if the United State or our interests are threatened. With the war declaration we will have a goal. After the goal is achieved we will come home. No more rebuilding nations.

Posted on February 4, 2012 at 2:27pmI think some of you people need to refine the word “Progressive.” Progressive is a person advocating progress or reform. When I was in the business world, I always wanted us to move forward and progress in our niche so we could expand our business thus becoming bigger and better and hire more people. I wanted us to be on top of our game while working as a team. I am a conservative in my views; that does not make me a Progressive because I want to change my business for the better. The political progressive today is quite literally an agent of entropy. They believe that in order to have “progress” the entire system, political, financial, justice, social, and the military must be pulled down and destroyed. From the ashes of this dark, and unfair nation will rise a society of purity, fairness, and happiness. Of course it will be hard to achieve this at first, and many freedoms will have to be sacrificed. Most of todays conservatives believe that man is much too flawed to create heaven on earth. Perhaps you are unaware of the fact that the term “progressive” is used to define a political position?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressivism
Today, most progressive politicians in the United States associate with the Democratic Party or the Green Party of the United States. In the US Congress there exists the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which is often in opposition to the more conservative Democrats, who form the Blue Dogs caucus. Some of the more notable progressive members of Congress have included Ted Kennedy, Russ Feingold,[7] Dennis Kucinich, Barney Frank, Bernie Sanders, Al Franken, John Conyers, John Lewis, and Paul Wellstone

Perfect example is Florida. Mitt spends millions there and wins big, why? Because no one does research on the candidates. This is why especially if Mitt is the candidate Obama wins in a land slide. As far you bring up the BOM and adding scripture, well I dont pay much mind to the BOM. It has been proven false to many times to even bother with. Not to mention the Bible even says not to accept any gospel even one from a angel. I believe the BOM is a tool of Satan to trick Christians into believing they can become gods.
1. Joseph Smith failed the prophet test of the Bible. Strike one.
2. Bible says not to accept a new gospel even from a angel. Strike two.
3. You can become a god just like Satan told Eve should become after eating the apple. Strike three.
4. I dont think the rituals of the Old Testament ever included the motion of “cutting your throat” in promise. Nor do I believe there is a bunch of masonic handshakes. These are tools of Satan. You will deny them or make excuses but facts are facts.

>> cult
1. a particular system of religious worship, especially with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, especially as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. Sociology . a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols. << (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cult )
If you want to speak technicality, technically all religions are cults. So, let's take a look at Mormonism.
1) Yes, Mormons have "a particular system of worship"… So do other Christians.
2) Yes, Mormons worship and venerate Jesus of Nazareth, who they believe to the Christ… So do other Christians.
3) God the Father, and His Son Jesus the Christ are the objects of veneration to Mormons… The same with other Christians.
4) Mormons are bound together with each other in their worship and veneration of the above… Just like other Christian sects.
5) Mormons do represent a group with common sociology based on the above beliefs and associated rituals… Just like other Christian sects.
Okay, so Mormons are a cult of Jesus Christ, just like other Christians… What's the problem?

Well the issue dividing Mormons from Christians is the Mormon beliefs of…
1) God was a man on another planet. If this is the case that means there are more than one God, which Christians do not believe. If God was a man, someone made him. The Bible is pretty clear there is only one God. So this Mormon belief is false. Yes I know Mormons will bring up the trinity, but honestly that is alot different than believing the God of the Bible was created by another god.
2) The belief that you also can become a god. This completely goes against Christian beliefs. Now Mormons will say, but Jesus said “ye be gods”. Well in that time men who judged over life and death were called “gods” Note the lower case. Secondly the passages also says “isnt it written in your laws” well who’s law is it written? Next case Mormons claim is they are children of God and will inherit his kingdom and they assume his power. Problem with that is not all of many are God’s children according to the Bible. We are adopted children, we only become his children after we believe in Jesus Christ died for our sins.
3) Next is the belief Jesus and Satan are real brothers. Well this kind of goes back to number 2. Since Mormons believe that God actually procreates and we are his children it makes since to call all his creations his children. I will not put anything or anyone in comparison to Jesus. To do this is insulting.
4) The temple rituals are satanic.

Okay, so you have made a statement about the theological differences between Mormons and non-Mormon Christians (though your understanding of our beliefs are partly wrong). It does not really add anything to the conversation about “cults”, seeing that I have shown that even other Christians are technically “cults” of Jesus Christ, just like Mormons are. The practices, rituals, and worship of the Mormon cult are centered around Jesus Christ at every level. So, what makes calling Mormons a “cult” such a bad thing? …Recognizing the differences in theology of course, which is really irrelevant to the question of what a cult is. That was my point.

You are mistaken if you think Mormons seek to comform their religious beliefs with that of mainstream Christianity. Obviously we have a different set of beliefs. We are not unique in that respect among the other sects of Christianity who share many beliefs and standards with each other, yet differ in some points of theology and practices.
In case you are not aware, we claim that God the Father and his Only Begotten Son appeared to Joseph Smith, and spoke to him. During that event, they revealed to Joseph that the great apostasy, which was foretold, had occured since the time that Christ himself had established his Church anciently, and that neither his Church, nor his priesthood authority were on the earth. Through this and other heavenly visitations, the Church of Jesus Christ was once again restored to the earth.
So, when mainstream Christians say that we are not “like” them in some aspects, it’s not an insult to us, since we believe their doctrines and creeds are false at many levels. Though, we do acknowledge that many others are true and sincere Christians nonetheless, and that principles of truth can be found in almost any religion including theirs. In fact, we embrace all truth, regardless of who utters it.

since you put them in order ill address them in order.
1. Genesis 1:26 “And God said, Let US make man in our image, after OUR likeness” God the Father and his son Jesus both Gods. I won‘t bring up the trinity because that word isn’t even found in the Bible. I don’t believe in this “mystery of the Christian faith” because I believe Jesus taught that this is life eternal, to know the only true God and his Son. Jesus has a resurrected body with the marks of his crucifixion still in his hands and his feet. He will show them to the Jews (Zech 13:6)
John 8:28″Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.”
John 5:19 “The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.”
Is it so hard to believe that the Father at one time might have done what Jesus did and that Jesus learned from his Father? Is it insulting Jesus to teach that he condescended to be with man, to have mortality? Does that make him less of a God to you that he did that? To me, that shows that he descended below all things that he might be raised above all things. Continue to 2.

I don’t say that I want to become a God, I say that I want to become like my Savior and Redeemer. We’re commanded to “be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matt 5:48). We’re given a great promise that many overlook in Romans 8:17
“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”
Heirs of the Father, and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ. Do I need to explain what heirs means?
you said “Next case Mormons claim is they are children of God and will inherit his kingdom and they assume his power. Problem with that is not all of many are God’s children according to the Bible”

“Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?” Father of our Spirits. Acts 17:29 “Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.” Continued

Posted on February 4, 2012 at 4:19pm…John 20:17 “Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.” God is the Father of Jesus as well as us. I don’t know how it could get any clearer than “my Father and you Father”.
Report Post »I can understand where you can get confused with the adoption part. As I put before, God is the Father of our spirits, but that doesn’t mean we automatically become heirs just for being his children. Sometimes the phrase “sons of God” isn’t talking about our spirits. By accepting Jesus Christ and following him, not just accepting but doing what he asks (if ye love me, keep my commandments), then we become adopted into the family of Abraham and the covenant God made with him and his people to become heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ.
3. Jesus and Satan are brothers. “I will not put anything or anyone in comparison to Jesus. To do this is insulting.” I‘m sorry I don’t understand what is insulting about comparing Jesus to Satan. Jesus is light, Satan is darkness. That’s comparing. I‘ll admit that the Bible doesn’t talk too much about Satan before this earth was, other than he rebelled and was cast out (Isaiah 14). Jesus had no problem saying “my Father and your Father”. We’re all spirit children of God, doesn’t mean we all end up choosing good in this life. Hitler was and is a spirit child of God. Doesn’t mean God is any less of a Go
Joey8
Posted on February 4, 2012 at 4:27pm…I also admit that we are privileged to have additional scripture (don’t even try with the “add to or take away from this book”, try reading the last verse in the last chapter of John) that explain that Satan or Lucifer was once held in high regard but chose to rebel against God.
Your last point #4. “The temple rituals are satanic.”
LoL. How do I comment on that one. Have you been through the Temple? Were the temple rituals in the Old Testament satanic as well? The ignorance hurts my brain.
I enjoy having discussions on religion but I find that the only way they are productive is if there is honesty involved. I try to be as honest as I can in regards to my beliefs and others beliefs. I‘ve spent a long time researching my religion and others in hopes that I don’t come off as ignorant as some of the people here. I have many friends in all religions, including Muslims(oh no!). I do like to show that our beliefs are backed in the Bible but our explained more through modern day prophets (1 Peter 1:20-21), the same kind that originally wrote the Bible, as well as the Book of Mormon. I don‘t care if you don’t believe as I do, that’s fine. I do have a problem with falsehoods being copied and pasted so I take the time to respond to them. 1. All you have implied is that God and Jesus are both gods. Ok so you dont want to use the trinity but you are going to the trinity defense. We believe God and Jesus are one god in three forms ( ice, steam, water) for example. You believe there are many gods that God, Jesus, and the holy spirit are just three of many.
http://www.irr.org/mit/one-god.html Here is 28 verses teaching there is only ONE GOD. Its in the Bible so I am sure you will say, its not translated correctly or something. But 28 is a pretty clear number.
2. Joint heirs is your defense? Well if I adopted a child I would raise it as I do my other children and love him or her just as much. He or she would get the same as the others except one thing. My DNA. I cannot make that child from my blood no matter how hard I try. Same love, same inheritance different DNA. So yes the child may try to be like me in every way, but due to his or her adoptions it cannot happen.
The apostle Paul is pretty clear on this in his teachings. Do the Mormons just ignore this part of the Bible? The Mormon faith makes many assumptions, but if you look at the very clear message that is in the Bible over and over again, we are adopted children of God.
Paul declared that “the Lord knows them that are his” (2 Timothy 2:19), and that suggests that some are not his.

Doesn‘t mean that there aren’t others. You didn’t comment on Jesus having a resurrected body. Do you think he still has it? Or did he throw it away when he was done visiting his disciples. If Jesus doesn’t have it still, then how is he going to show it to the Jews after he splits the mountain? If he does still have it, does the Father not have one?
I can see where you’re talking about adoption, but you disregarded the scripture that stated that God is the Father of our spirits. There was no “adoption” mentioned in there. Also, another one, Ephesians 4:6 “One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” One Father of ALL, not just a few. If you don’t think that all means everyone there, then that means he isn’t above all and through all and in all.
Like I wrote before, just because God is the Father of our spirits doesn’t mean we our automatically heirs. That’s when we accept Christ and our baptized for remission of sins. That‘s when we become Christ’s

Saw that you posted a reply in the wrong thread, here’s my reply.
Satan mixes truth with lies. What did God say about Adam and Eve taking the fruit?
Gen 3:22 “And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us”. Wait, isn’t that what Satan said “Ye shall not surely die:For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
Satan lied about dying, but he said that they’ll be as the gods, knowing good and evil”. Was that part a lie? Then God lied in verse 22. So we learn that Satan will use some truth with a lie to further his purposes.
So you said Joseph Smith failed the prophet test in the Bible. What test was that? By their fruits ye shall know them? The fruit of Joseph Smith was the Book of Mormon and millions of people read it and believe it and I’m a better person from reading it. You can say the Book of Mormon has been disproven the same way the Bible has been disproven. How do you respond to atheists that say the Bible has been disproven? It’s to be taken by faith through the Holy Ghost.
Report Post »Also, I believe that you aren’t supposed to accept a different Gospel than the one taught by Jesus Christ, even if an angel proclaimed it. It’s a good thing the Book of Mormon teaches the same gospel, not a different one.

So you are saying because Satan tricked Eve now we can become gods? Yes he mixes truth and lies to trick I agree, but you are falling for the trick. Satan told Eve that she will not die and she will be LIKE God. This is all a lie. We cannot be like God. She was tricked by Satan to believe she could be LIKE God but that doesnt mean she could become a god.
Is your definition of being a god “knowing good and evil”? God didnt lie.
Deut 18 21
You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?”
Deut 18 22
If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
So to recap, if a prophet makes a prophecy in God‘s name that does’t come true, he is a false prophet. Seems pretty simple to me.

Prophecy about Jesus’ return within 56 years.

Doctrine and Covenants 84:2-5,31
Prophecy that the temple would be built in Missouri within Smith’s Generation.

The reason I do this, isnt to argue with you or other Mormons. I want Mormons to look at what I type and go use the Bible to do research on it. I feel Mormons are good people, but have been tricked into believing in a different Jesus Christ. Without Jesus Christ you cannot get to Heaven. As I have said before, with Mormons are correct, I go to a lower tier of Heaven, maybe even one with the Muslims. If evangelicals are right, Mormons go to hell. John McCain told Hannity yesterday that the GOP has had enough debates and everyone knows where they stand so no more debates. While, Sen. Lindsay Graham said, on Greta, that Newt knows how to move Congress and get things done and that is why Congress is getting no where now. They are in gridlock and Newt was in that position and got everyone to work together for the good of the country. This tells me that the GOP needs to stop Gingrich in his tracks before he derails Mitt and takes the nomination away from him. Why do they not have the interests of the country ahead of their own? Newt is simply telling what you want to hear, even though it goes against what he has clearly stated in the past.
I’m not falling for it.
If Newt actually understood what the founders had in mind, he would not be offering block grants, as he would be explaining the fact that the founders gave us a limited Federal government and the whole notion of providing for the General Welfare in the form of education as is being done today is NOT what they had in mind.
“Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those specifically enumerated.”
Thomas Jefferson
“If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the general welfare, the government is no longer a limited one possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one subject to particular exceptions.” -James Madison
“With respect to the two words “general welfare,” I have always regarded them as qualified by the detail of powers connected with them. To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators.” — James Madison, letter to James Robertson

Dillard claims he was standing outside of a canopy which had been set up with a microphone stand, when Newt and Callista came right up to him and shook his hand.

If the hate-mongering, demeaning words that spew from the so-called “christian” community on these website are the doctrine of Christ then i want nothing to do with it. I can‘t believe you can’t get past a Mormon being president under the simple precept that you define them as non-christian. @Reform – you keep posting this same line that “mormons” don’t help people outside of their faith. I can see why you might not know how much we help members of all faiths because we don’t trumpet it to the world. I simply wish you could have been in the southeast when those hurricanes devastated the area – mormon volunteers were some of the first people organized and out helping people recover (wearing the “helping hands” shirts – if you were there). I wish you could have seen the members of my congregation donating blankets, food, etc. to the survivors of the recent tsunami. The same thing happened to donate supplies and money to the survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. Do you remember the work and money donated to make prop 8 pass? Prop 8 never would have won in cali without the mormons. Finally, I remember growing up and my parents anonymously leaving food, etc. on the doorsteps of neighbors who couldn’t buy enough food for their kids – these neighbors were not mormons.
I’m sorry you have such a poor perception of our charitable nature. I guess unless you’re actually attending a mormon congregation, you would never know what charity goes on within it since we don’t send out fliers announcing it. Personally, I’ve never seen a more charitable people – but I did have some Seventh Day Adventists friends growing up who were probably equally as charitable

As the others have covered the welfare aspects of the LDS church you should also understand the financial and political influence the memeber of the LDS church use to support christians religions. I would say “fellow christians” but we apparently aren’t allowed to use that term, even when assisting them. The most obvious example would be the recent coalition with Prop 8 in California. Members of the LDSfaith rallied, heavily with Catholics, but almost all other major Christians churches to combat opposition of the bill. Without the LDS members supporting the other denominations the bill was sure to fail and the sanctity of marriage in the state wouldn‘t be under appeal but would be trampled and on it’s way to destruction. Another example is to recognize the relationship between the LDS church and other churches in Salt Lake City. Rarely do any churches in state of UT stand alone is promoting Christian belief in local and state government. In fact the President of the LDS Church, Thomas Monson, and John Charles Wester, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese in Salt Lake are close friends. They continually work together reaching out for mutual benefit for the promotion of peace and Christian teachings. These examples only touch the tip of the ice berg. Again, someone please provide for me a specific example of how a Mormon, by definition as “Non-Christian” is a legitimate reason to not put them int he White House? I mean are you afraid we will mandate our teach

I’m not hateful because I hate neither Romney nor Obama. I don‘t trust either one’s judgement for being long term members of weird cults. There was no mormonism when our country was created, and there was no mormonism until over 1800 years after Christ the Lord officially ENDED all rituals and revelation with his blood.

You are hateful. By your tone.Conveniently throwing out terms and shots at what you know to be sacred to a single group in order to ridicule, belittle and defame is hateful. You can sit there and act nice and innocent all you want, but you know what your intentions are. Yours is an effort to paint a group of people as a certain type by throwing in adjectives that you know the public will find controversial while completing altering the truth. Once again, if this is being Christian then sign me up for hell. Of course, being LDS you think I‘m going there anyway so doesn’t matter much anyway. I still hold to my original argument. That not voting for someone because they are Mormon has no merit other than it exposes the bigotry and religious discrimination of the extreme evangelical Christian right.

They did this my family tells me about Jim Gibbons also but it was because the Senate has been made up liberal Democrats mainly in the Clark County District. Rural Nevada is made up of very conservative minded people but their population doesn’t match the major Clark County District population. Hopefully more Americans will understand this as they have done in the last couple of years switch to being independent there by not knowing how you will vote, neither party deserves to know your feelings that way they can’t put you in a box. Whether you like it or not that’s why Sarah Palin Herman Cain and now Newt say it is the people not the power, you can vote for issues that are important to you or who best represents your issues not solely based on Democrat or Republican. In Nevada you cannot attend the caucuses unless you reregister as a Republican, which therefore leaves the independents out in the cold. Nevada also am told a large number of libertarians and/or other party affiliates. Isn’t it ironic that states would intentionally not allow us independents to express how we feel in an election? When in fact it was the independents that favored Barack Obama the last election and gave him the victory. My question is why would the GOP not allow us to vote for one of their particular candidates why shut us out? The same scenario played out in Florida seems they only want us come the general election. Because you see they feel we have nowhere else to go but for their candidate for the most part. Such a shame the way the political front has become for us it’s a lose lose situation. I see it as we will not favor their particular candidate therefore basically shutting us out before the general election.
