Romney Launches ‘Jewish Americans for Romney’ to Shore Up Support Among Jews

Following his trip to Israel, Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney is making inroads to the American Jewish community. With the announcement of his “Jewish Americans for Romney” coalition, Romney will seek common ground with Jewish Americans, while working diligently to convince them that he’s the best potential prospect for election come November.

According to The Jewish Forward, the group’s co-chairmen will be Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor, former Sens. Rudy Boschwitz and Norm Coleman of Minnesota, former Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle and Florida House candidate Adam Hasner. The coalition will have a 39-member advisory board filled with well-known figures in political circles who have worked in previous GOP administrations.

Here’s what Cantor had to say about Romney’s candidacy:

“I urge all American Jews – Democrat, Republican, and independent alike – to give a serious look at Mitt Romney’s candidacy. Throughout his life, Governor Romney has been an unwavering supporter of the state of Israel. As he stated during his most recent trip to Jerusalem, ‘by history and by conviction, our two countries are bound together. No individual, no nation, no world organization, will pry us apart. And as long as we stay together and stand together, there is no threat we cannot overcome.’ Governor Romney understands that peace in the Middle East will only be achieved when Israel is secure within its borders and not the target of violence fueled by senseless hatred. He will leave no stone unturned in the effort to keep Israel secure.”

“Having just visited Israel at a critical juncture in the history of the Middle East, I am persuaded that now, more than ever, America needs to stand with Israel,” Romney said in a statement announcing “Jewish Americans for Romney.“ ”I will extend the hand of friendship because our partnership is not merely a strategic alliance but a force for good in the world.”

Romney praised the Jewish community here in America, acknowledging its accomplishments and contributions to the greater U.S. society. He also expressed his gratitude for campaign support from a portion of this cohort.

“I am genuinely honored to have so many of its leading thinkers, diplomats and political leaders support my campaign,” he continued.

In addition to making these comments, Romney also defended himself against claims by Palestinians that he had made a racist remark about them during his trip to Jerusalem. He prided Israel’s success on “individual freedom and the rule of law” — elements that he claimed are built into the culture.

“In the face of improbable odds, Israel today is a world leader in fields ranging from medicine to information technology,” the candidate said.

      Shore Up Support Among Jews……and how many would that be? Maybe 5,000 total in the US? That leaves the other 6.5 million still backing Obama. Everyone on TheBlaze can’t get enough of these “chosen people” even though they own all the leftist media propaganda machines/Hollywood that undermines conservatives at all levels. It would be like Romney saying he’s shoring up the black vote…..all 15,000 of them. What a joke!

      Jews or “chosen people” are a lost cause. They are no friends to the right. Most are supporters of Marxist ideology. The majority of Bolshevik leaders in the Russian Revolution were Jews. And as far as my “chosen people” wording, I’m just repeating what these Bible nuts always say to me when I say anything negative towards Jews. They always reply that Jews can be as communistic as they want and fight against conservatives as much as they want for the simple reason that they are “chosen people”. These right wingers give a free pass to whatever they do just because of a sentence in the Old T that says they are “chosen people”.     Whats he going to do to sure up the Tea Party vote?
    Does it not anger anyone here who supports free markets and liberty, that Romney is a progressive who has not even tried to reach out to the real Tea Party folk?
    You think we can “hold his feet to the fire” as you all repeat over and over again, and yet even in election mode he has not made an effort to at least sound like a free market constitutional conservative.
    If he doesnt care about our beliefs now what makes you think he will govern like a constitutionalist?
    His record of support is a mirror image of Obamas.
    If you vote Romney you send the message that we will fall in line when asked to, they will have no respect for the liberty movement if we dont take a stand and say no more to Constitution hating progressive RINOs.
    For the love of god take a stand for what you believe and know is right instead of falling for the bumper sticker rhetoric of lesser of two evils.
    If we do not we will have more Mcains and Romneys in 2016 or 2020.
    Perhaps some of the GB folk like Mcains and Romneys but for those of us who actually want a free market and a Govt that stays within the confines of the Constitution we need to send a message that despite the fraud and intentional suppression of out candidates we will not fall in line because they say so.

      Of the Jews I know, they are not a homogenous group. Some care nothing about their Jewish heritage, they only note it. Others value their Jewish heritage very highly. Some don’t support Israel. Others support Israel very highly. I don’t believe it is true that just evangelicals that support Israel and American Jews do not. That has not been my observation.

Is a Jewish American citizen’s concerns or desires… more important than a non-Jewish American citizen? Has Romney created a “Muslims for Romney” website? I‘m not finding enough hard evidence for me to say I’m completely on board. I‘m not saying you’re wrong, I just don’t know. I’d love for you to really dig into some primary sources and share. Going to a research library really isn’t a possibility for me being the primary care giver to a 4 yr old.

      Yeah I’ve seen the video Ashes. I haven’t scrutinized it because, like I said, I don’t have access to a research library at the moment. I mean the first question I have to ask you, is how do you KNOW that the people in the photographs are who the unkown person who put the piece together says they are and just not some random pics?       No, not even the excuse that Mitt Romney won 42 primaries and caucuses and Ron Paul only won one? Or the excuse that while the rules of the national Republican Party don’t technically forbid bound delegates from violating their pledged word and spurning the will of the voters, at least in the sense that it would not be possible to stop them from doing so even though they would be violating the rules of their state party and/or the laws of their state, such a display of open contempt for the democratic process and the voice of the people would insure that not only the usurper of the nomination, but almost every other Republican running for public office this year would be dragged down to dismal defeat?

      I am not supporting Obama nor am i advocating anyone vote for him. I am not going to partake in your circular argument. If you are scared of 3rd party, then you should advocate for changing the election laws to require >50% majority for winner-take-all states

      My previous statement applies. You obviously have a problem with the election laws – so you should try to fix it. If it were a run-off between Romney and Obama – i would vote Romney. If Obama gets >50% in my state, it doesnt matter who i vote for

      Fortunately, i can vote 3rd party. My candidate is 100 times better than Romney. Blame your own party for selecting a moderate.

      @KICKINBACK..You would not say that if you did your research..I have never heard a liberal call themselves Constitutionalists..and if they really were Constitutionalists..then that is what I would be..Ron Paul is the only man who fits the bill of Constitutionalist..He repealed NDAA where they could pick you up off the street and legally kill you without charges . as unconstitutional and a Federal Judge ruled it unconstitutional..He also got the “Audit the Fed bill passed by a majority ..I don’t look for that to hold with Romoney..He is financed by them and is on record saying that he does not want to mess with them or let congress mess with them..And you call us liberal..If that was some of what a liberal was about..then I would be proud to be called one.. However..a liberal is what Obama and Romoney are..I refuse to support either.
