Romney: ‘No One’s Ever Asked to See My Birth Certificate’

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney began his stump speech in Michigan on Friday with a crack about birth certificates — specifically, that no one’s ever asked to see his.
“Now I love being home in this place where Ann and I were raised, where both of us were born,” Romney said. “Ann was born in Henry Ford Hospital, I was born in Harper Hospital. No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate, they know that this is the place that we were born and raised.”
Some skeptics, known as “birthers,” have repeatedly cast doubt on whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States. The White House last year released Obama’s long-form birth certificate stating he was born in Hawaii.
CBS News reporter Jan Crawford tweeted there were two reactions to the joke: “reporters gasped–and a crowd of thousands laughed and cheered.”
In a statement after Romney’s remarks, Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said the decision for Romney to “directly enlist himself in the birther movement” should give rational voters “pause.”
“Throughout this campaign, Governor Romney has embraced the most strident voices in his party instead of standing up to them,” LaBolt said, according to CNN. “It’s one thing to give the stage in Tampa to Donald Trump, Sheriff Arpaio, and Kris Kobach. But Governor Romney’s decision to directly enlist himself in the birther movement should give pause to any rational voter across America.”
Romney senior adviser Kevin Madden said afterward: “The governor has always said, and has repeatedly said, he believes the president was born here in the United States. He was only referencing that Michigan, where he is campaigning today, is the state where he himself was born and raised.”

Gilmore, Giuliani, Hunter, McCain, Paul, Romney, and Thompson indicated that they do; Brownback, Huckabee, and Tancredo indicated that they do not.’

I must have not expressed myself clearly (or you read too quickly :)). I wrote that I had respect for Romney, when during a 2008 Republican nominee debate, he said that he believes the theory of evolution to be a true explanation when other Republican candidates said they did not.
I also wrote that it made me realize how many uneducated homunculuses were able to reach the heights of running for President on behalf of the Republican Party during that debate. Low people who did not have even basic education.
That Romney would resort to a birther smear is shocking to me.
That is what I meant to write, anyway.

Also in the early years of when Hawaii became a state many people from Indonessia and Japan came to hawaii and registred their children as born in Hawaii. that also when obama’s mother did it. But the what gets me is, the constitution says BOTH parents must be american citizens and Obama‘s wasn’t. Just that alone disqualifies him to be president here.

How is making a joke about Obama’s birth certificate racist? It seems clear that Barry went to school as an Indonesian foreign student, and did not adopt the name Obama until later. I believe he was born in Hawaii, I went to the Honolulu newspaper archives microfiche in a library and found the announcement of his birth long ago. I doubt a conspiracy could have replaced the microfiche in every library. I would have loved to discredit this socialist/communist who is spending our country into oblivion, but I couldn’t it on he basis of his birth certificate, but just because I don‘t like Obama’s policies doesn’t make me a racist.

Unfortunately for Obama, he was born in 1961 while the rally occured in 1965. In fact, mere weeks after his birth his parents had split up and Stanley Anne Dunham, his mother, had made her way to Seattle by 1962. Was Obama born twice perhaps?
Then there‘s Barack Obama’s then-literary agency, Acton & Dystel, which stated that Obama was “born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.” There‘s absolutely no other explanation for this other than that’s the impression Obama wanted to give the agency. Liberals of course are in love with the “diversity” angle so being born in Kenya and being raised in Hawaii and Indonesia just oozes appeal to lefty sensibilities about minorities and exotic diversity..and there’s no way the agency could have had that impression unless Obama wanted them to have it. The furor this created prompted Miriam Goderich (partner for the current agency) to offer the explanation that it was a fact checking error..nothing more. It drips of desperation..because where does living or being born in Kenya ever enter Obama’s narrative? Did she confuse this with his father, Barack Sr perhaps? But he didn’t live in Indonesia did he? He was long gone by then.
Obama himself has fed the suspicions.

I honestly think that after all of this crap we should pass a law that anyone running for President or even just make it the final duos and require Birth Certificate HS, University, Law school transcripts, published materials and all tax returns from 18 y/o on. The Congress and Senate and SCOTUS would review them and determine if they are legit. Checks and Balances at it’s finest!
Besides cost, why can’t we do this??? I doubt it would cost much anyway. I lean slightly Libertarian and I get the privacy aspect of it but I think that the in the end, in order to keep our republic free, we must do this!!!

He went to in 1981 on a hostile country (Afghanistan?) on what could not have been an American passport as an American passport would not get him in there. He went on an Indonesian passport. Report Post »Both parents should as well have been natural born as well, and even if both parents had been natural born, being born in America, they would have had to have spent the last 14 years in America with the child, or after the child was born. Had they all been born in the U.S. then went abroad for the last 14 years, they would have had to prove their citizenship.

It’s no wonder the television has a really hard time making funny shows, because they are PC indoctrinated. No comedy on network tv is even remotely funny, they even have gone back to laugh tracks. An actor can say “The butter fell on the floor” and the laugh track goes off. These people live a sad life.

You can call it what you want, but those investigators are not wrong. You are. There is no nonsense and you might as well know that you are in a minority who do not believe what the birthers have to say. This is being played down for many reasons that are not exposed. I do not like liars and it sounds to me like you are hiding the truth, yourself. Obama was not born in this country and is for more reasons than one not eligible to be President of this country.

My issue is that I want Obama gone from the White House. That is the most important thing to me, and doing something like this has absolutely no appeal to the general public that he’s trying to win over. I’m not going to repeat myself because I thought my message was clear. His campaign does not need to go this route, because it won’t gain him anything other than funny looks from people who might be on the fence that are turned off by this topic. I‘m not saying I’m turned off by it, but the majority of the public is.
The only thing this guy should be focused on is winning swing states, and to do that he should only be talking about the economy, jobs, and defending medicare.

This election will do what it does, and however it does. We vote, that is all we can do and try to insure our votes are not stolen and we are cheated out of the vote. But why disgrace this country by allowing that evil man to even run on a ticket he is not worthy to run on and live in our White House and be paid when he is not even a real President? That, looks to me like should be attended to first and foremost.

He’s just pandering to the birthers, a good strategy, except that they’re already not voting for Obama. What he should be doing is reaching out to independents, not driving them away with his stupidity. But hey, that means more votes for Obama, who isn’t the optimal president, but is the best we’ve got right now.
But I digress. No, Romney isn’t racist, but the birthers are. He has done more than any president to show that he was indeed born in this country, but nothing he does will be enough. Why? Because he doesn‘t look like the majority of the Republican’t party.
