Romney Supporters Thwart Hecklers‘ ’Mic Check’ in Iowa

Romney Heckled by Occupy Protesters in Iowa

While Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney may have some momentum on his side in Iowa, he certainly does not have the support of Occupy protesters. The Des Moines Register reports that three Occupy the Caucus protesters were arrested before a Romney campaign event in Clive Monday. CSPAN video shows Romney hecklers in the crowd drowned out by supporters chanting “Mitt! Mitt!:”

The Hill reports that the protesters were trying to call a “mic check.”

Twelve other Occupy protesters were arrested Monday at the Renaissance Savery hotel in downtown Des Moines, where the Register reports that two dozen demonstrators, some with dollar bills taped across their mouths, were protesting the role of money in politics and the National Defense Authorization Act. Register photographers caught some of the “die-in” protesters lying on the floor of the hotel:

The Hill notes that OWS protestors have disrupted various Iowa events over the last several weeks. Five were arrested outside Ron Paul’s headquarters last Thursday, and others have protested outside of Romney’s and President Obama’s Iowa offices.

Friends, conservative Americans, get over it. Romney will win the nomination. He’s been careful to take both sides of every issue, and careful too not to say anything outrageous and stupid like the other candidates are doing doing to stand out to get some name recognition.

Romney is smart. He’s trying to appeal to the TP right without actually committing to any position.

Romney is going to be Republican nominee. Everybody has known for the last six months.

Absolutely it matters because a pattern is emerging. OWS will be disrupting GOP and Tea Party events throughout the election year in order to provoke an incident. Forewarned is forearmed. That is not to say that we give OWS the incident it wants, but rather…to know our enemy and not give the enemy the ammunition it’s trying to get.

Thank goodness Romney is receiving all the backing of the 1%. Im curious concerning donations for Paul received from Grumman Northrup and Lockhead Martin (amongst other similar manufacturers). Why would Paul receive money from companies who contract with the US to manufacturer weapons, Drones, F35 JTS,research and development for regional nukes, etc? Is he not campaigning with promises of military drawback? These companies would not be supporting his campaign if they actaully believed Pres. Paul would enact policy to shut them down. Receiving contributions from these companies challenges this man’s credibility concerning his “draw down” policy.

That needs to be addressed. And it is not a fair statement to attributes individual contributions of under the guise of US AIR FORCE and US ARMY and so on…..it not the US armed forces– its just a few good men which also do the same for Romney and other candidtaes.

What is it these idiots want? Do they want Romney impoverished? Is his success as a business man distasteful to them? Are they trying to tell us that we can’t be too successful..or else?
It is becoming clear that as OWS sputters along, they don’t have a clue about how to achieve any of their goals except to take from those who have more and give to those who have less. The concept of creating more for everyone escapes them.
These OWS idiots are only concerned about publicity. The numbers of OWS protestors have fallen catastrophically and their only strategy appears to be mugging for the TV cameras at which a compliant media desperately pulls out the defibrillators to try to resuscitate a dying OWS.

It is time that we start showing up at the President’s events and doing the same to him. As predicted by many conservatives…OWS is going to be disrupting GOP and Tea Party events throughout the election year. They are the brownshirts of the left and the Democrats. They’ve got their wink and a nod from Obama. This has nothing to do with “99%”, this has everything to do with political intimidation and ripping off the tax payer under the guise of “fairness”. OWS is looking for..nay…salivating for…an incident to flare up between conservatives and tea partiers and OWS. They will do everything to provoke an incident then they will use the compliant media to exploit it. Conservatives and Tea Partiers need to be very vigilant and careful when dealing with the OWS societal debris.

Hm, hm. No, he didn’t. This is from the Monticello website:

This exact quotation has not been found in any of the writings of Thomas Jefferson. It bears a very vague resemblance to Jefferson‘s comment in a prospectus for his translation of Destutt de Tracy’s Treatise on Political Economy: “To take from one, because it is thought that his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, -˜the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry, & the fruits acquired by it.’”

      http://www.monticello.org/site/jefferson/democracy-will-cease-to-exist-quotation

It’s clear in this context, that even the proper quote is Jefferson translating someone else’s words. Jefferson is, however, on record as approving of civil disobedience. “I hold it that a little rebellion, now and then, is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. It is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government.” This was apropos of Shays’ Rebellion, which led to the repeal of the Articles of Confederation.

@RightsofBilly, No, my point was that you folks will make things up if it suits you and then drape it in the flag and/or Jesus and try to pass it off as “The Truth”. Jefferson was a man of his time. He believed in the right to protest. Yes, he might favor the small government policies of the TeaCons, but then, if he was a man of this time, I doubt it. Jefferson had a broad, open mind, and great intellectual curiosity, I can’t imagine him throwing in with a group that is none of that. Jefferson was pragmatic. When Washington used the “Necessary and Proper Clause” to justify the Bank of the United States, Jefferson did not resign as Secretary of State, and when President, he did not revoke it’s charter. Madison, the principle author of the Constitution was a Jefferson friend and protege, and yet, TeaCons rarely invoke either one of them.

Now, I’m thinking that a majority of those are students from out of town, which would make the number much smaller, but any way you cut it, it is more like 150/72000 = 0.2%
