Romney Maintains Commanding Lead in New Hampshire Polls

Romney Holds Lead in NH Polls

Republican presidential primary candidate Mitt Romney has been focusing strongly on New Hampshire voters and it appears to be paying off. The granite state’s key Republican primary is set for January 10, one week after the first-in-the-nation Iowa caucus, and the former governor of Massachusetts has taken a commanding 22-point lead ahead of the competition.

A Boston Globe poll released Sunday finds that Romney has the support of 39 percent of likely New Hampshire primary voters, with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and Texas Rep. Ron Paul tied for a distant second at 17 percent each. Romney‘s polling in New Hampshire is still three points lower than his standing in the Globe’s survey last month, but his still strong lead indicates that Gingrich’s national surge has not overthrown the former Massachusetts governor in the state that he now lives in and is critical to his primary campaign.

Rep. Paul has seen the most gain in New Hampshire over the past month, rising five points since November. Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman has picked up three percentage points and polled just six points behind Gingrich and Paul. The latest results for Rep. Paul in New Hampshire, coupled with his steady rise to the top in Iowa, makes the case that the outspoken libertarian congressman, rather than Newt Gingrich, will likely be the greatest challenge to Romney’s hopes of securing the Republican nomination.

Romney Holds Lead in NH Polls

Ron Paul

The Hill reports that Sunday’s announcement marks the major return of momentum for Romney in New Hampshire. In addition to securing the most support, he also leads the field as the favorite second choice among voters, taking 22 percent compared to Gingrich’s 21 percent, Paul’s nine percent, and Huntsman’s seven percent. Fifty-five percent of likely New Hampshire GOP primary voters said Romney has the best shot against Obama. The only other candidate to break double-digits in that category is Gingrich, at 18 percent, who leads a seperate category of who New Hampshire voters say they would not vote for under any circumstances.

New Hampshire will be the second state to vote in the Republican presidential race on Jan. 10.

Ron Paul might be the one to save America. He absolutly could not do worse than his predessors have regarding foreign policy. Would do much better domestically than they did. Some of the attacks on him from the right are reminiscent of the left wing attacks on Sarah palin. These attacks, many of them ad hominem in nature , makes one think that maybe they do protest too much.

Does it not bother some that there have only been two families in Washington high power positions for over three decades? GHW Bush 1980-1992, VP & President, Bill Clinton 1992-2000, President, GW Bush 2000-2008, President, Hillary Clinton 2008-Present, Sec of State. It has been the same for all this time, and Romney, Gingrich are in the thick with these people. Paul is on his own. He will not give in to the establishment and this makes them very nervous. He will make true change for the better. Ron Paul 2012.

in no way shape or form do I support Paul in the Primary.
However, IF he wins the primary, I won’t hold my nose as tight as I would for Rom, Newt, and as Gawd is my witness, i will stay home if Huntsman wins.
And the only reason i would hold my nose at all while voting for paul is to avoid the stench of the rabid, rat faced paulies. I would have been WAAAY more supportive of Paul if it hadn’t been for the insane Paulies. Too close to ObotLand denizens for my tastes.

Not the one who has the most money. Be careful what you put into the BHO Machine. Romney will be shredded on important fronts and Paul plays right into the race card. Sure looks that way. Nothing like extreme thinking individuals and their notion that third party runs are actually helpful, at least offering them a chance to remain intellectually honest, and therefore to provide Obama with another four years. Everybody think Perot for a moment and then remember the resulting Clinton years and then shake your heads in disgust.

For those Pualies out there who have entertained the notion that it is Ron Paul or nothing, by all means vote your hearts out for Ron during the primaries, but when the party chooses the nominee that will evict the current POTUS from the oval office, throw your support at that candidate, so that we can ensure that Obama’s signature will switch to being called a Celebrity Autograph in January 2013.

First of all I am a Palin supporter, but the media and establishment did the same thing to her, so No Paultard here but understand propaganda comes from all directions. Saying that, Ron Paul, being one of only two veterans in the GOP race is very trustworthy to keep our country secure. Just don’t think he would involve US in thinks like Egypt or Lybia like the war hawk Obama. Oh and lets ask Gingrich why he dodged the draft 3 times? We would have to kill every single Muslim in the world to protect this country the way your talking, and I’m thinking thats a little nutty. Easiest way to prevent terrorism in this country is to NOT let anyone in from a Muslim country directly or indirectly. All the 911 terrorist where here LEGALLY, either with a student visa or lottery visa. The War on Terror didn’t prevent the shoe bomber, the brave American’s on the plane stopped him. But the big thing is the American people are done with war, dont you understand why Obama won? Only Paul can counter Obama.

That was because Ron Paul was in the lead – that’s how that data works – if Paul is in the lead – denounce the polls – of the any other big government/progressive type is in the lead – the polls must be true! lol!

@TEXASCONSERVATIVECOWBOY Sweetheart..you need to educate yourself.. You were probably like me in the first debates booing Ron Paul for saying that 9/11 was our fault..Ron was only going by the reports of the CIA..they said that 9/11 was blowback..from our interference..I know ..I know..I had no idea either..but you see..Ron is on the inside..so he hears and sees things we don’t.. He also wants to quit defending all those Muslims..you probably have heard that they never change…because they never do..It’s their false religion.. Paul wants to protect us by reinstating our Constitution.. and cut 5 communist bureaurocrocies from the government and and save us one trillion the first year. plus balance the budget in 3..He is the only one willing to do this..Obama gets paid $400,000 a year..Paul has said he would accept a salary of 49,336 a year…now I agree..that’s nuts..and I would certainly want him paid more than that..but the man puts money back in the coffer every year..He wants war to be a Congressional decision..to get in..win and get out..do you understand? he is for us..not the whole world…

Well then, so does Bill O’Reilly because he agrees with Ron Paul on his stance with Iran. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPDp0DhIenk

I could and would support Romney or Ron Paul, but then again , i would vote for a dead roadside racoon, before i would vote for Obama …. So i may be a little bias…

We’re arguing for a NOMINATION. Once the candidate is chosen, we can all rally around and get the Independents on board. With Dr Paul — Independents will be easy.

With Romney, Independents will be easy because he’s LIKE OBAMA!

Romney may be OK. Newt looks like he’s ready for some insider trading and would want to take alot of vacations. I’d be dumb enough to say Ron Paul could get in and shred all the last 50 years of laws and regulations. That would take 4 years,12 hrs a day.

    Frankenstein lives.
Not that it’s a bad thing. He’s just misunderstood.
But he won’t impose himself on anyone. Won’t throw the little girl down the Romneycare well.

This poll has’nt figuted in ANY of the independants or democrats that will support Ron Paul, Romney doesn’t get any of that vote, plus more people WILL support Ron Paul after he wins Iowa.

Yeah, that bugs me that Fox only relies on Rasmussen polls. Ever compared that poll to others? It’s only Republicans who believe like Fox (war-mongering).
