Romney and Perry Spar Over Whose Book is Worse Politically

In keeping true to their M.O.’s, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney were back at each other’s throats during the Fox News GOP debate Thursday evening. This time, the two presidential rivals sparred over their respective books.
Romney asked where the Rick Perry is who said in his book, “Fed Up!,” that the federal government “shouldn’t be in the Social Security business.”
“You better find that Rick Perry and get him to stop saying that,” Romney said.
Perry blasted back, accusing Romney of concealing his position on health care between the hard and paperback editions of his book. Perry claimed that in the hard-cover edition, Romney endorsed expanding the health care program he signed in Massachusetts — dubbed “Romneycare” — to the rest of the country.
“Then in your paperback you took that line out, so speaking of not getting it straight in your book, Sir,” Perry said.
“It’s like badminton.”
That’s when Romney quipped, “I actually wrote my book.”
Yes, no surprise here — a classic Romney-Perry exchange.
The heated part of their dialogue occurs at approximately the 1:20 mark:

Posted on September 23, 2011 at 12:32pmI just laugh at the majority of the comments on this board. Glenn beck needs to get out of politics…even he admitted he’s never right about this stuff and always gets the nominee wrong, so I don’t give a rats…who Beck thinks the nominee should be. Beck’s anger and sarcasm are out of control these days, and his two cohorts don’t help the situation any. My family used to listen to his radio program all the time, but we all agree we’re tuning it out more and more. This morning was all Romney rant because Beck’s precious Perry is falling apart and having trouble explaining his record. Perry is a person who feeds off of applause and when it disappears, Perry’s lost. Perry is not ready for the presidency and leans too much on advisors. Romney is sharp, articulate, intelligent, understands his well thought out positions and can defend them. I agree with Romney’s positions and will vote for him again just like I did in 2008! He’s presidential, means what he says, and will turn this country around just like I watched him do with the Olympic Games and Massachusetts! He gets 5 votes in my household and if he wins this time…he’ll get 6 votes from my household next time! Romney is the president for our time! Romney 2012 knocked a homer out of the park last night! Go Mitt!!!

Posted on September 23, 2011 at 12:46amWhat a real joke these two front-runner Presidential candidates are! Our country is breaking apart, and Mitt Romney and Rick Perry are fighting over which book is worse. That’s the lame-stream media’s plan in maintaining the the status quo: exercise poll-fudging in favor of candidates that they deem “electable” while marginalizing the candidate that’s actually winning the polls. No way am I letting the progressive alphabet networks and the neo-conservative Fox News Channel brainwash me into choosing any one of those establishment RINO candidates that they think is “electable.” Instead, I’ll be voting for the only one candidate whose message and 30-plus-year voting record has been consistently in support of the Constitution.

Posted on September 23, 2011 at 12:49pmIt’s all relevant and fair game…but these voters who think of themselves as purists really do themselves a disservice by going so far to the right that they’re over the perverbial cliff and so sure all the way to the bottom that they were just being principled…meanwhile nobody knows what happened to them because they became irrelevant when they stubbornly decided not consider anyone else’s thoughts but their own. I can’t imagine what it must be like for these people raising kids…I can just hear the conversations in their home with the my way or the highway attitude and fingers in their ears saying “I’m not listening”. I‘d imagine it doesn’t get very far with their teenagers. I‘ve successfully raised four children through the teenage period and those tactics wouldn’t have worked with my kids, yet people try this stuff with other adults and think this is going to be successful! Romney’s listening to people and considering the best approach to meet the goal. He’s opened his eyes to see the country and the world around him and has found great success working with people. Romney 2012 for sure!

Posted on September 23, 2011 at 3:50amGreat post. How is it that year after year, the Republicans manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Mark my words, if repealing Obamacare is important to you you better get behind Paul, Johnson, Bachmann, or even Palin if she runs. These liberal progressive Republicans Perry and Romney will go Boehner on the bit the instant they face blowback from the leftists and media about repealing Obamacare. We’ll get lectured that we only control three-thirds of the government and in order to do anything we need to have a super majority in the senate, so we’ll compromise, just like ***** did. It’s interesting how the liberals will use guerilla warfare to block any Republican legislation or judges when they control 0/3 of the government, but have a filibuster, but when Republicans actually control a full branch of the government they cave in like pansies. Not only do we need a conservative in there in 2012, we need to kick ***** to the curb along with the rest of the Republican leadership. Primaries, anyone?

I think it was also sad when Perry tried to steal Romney’s lost-Perry quote. By using someone elses quote it shows weakness.

His childish attacks were lame and inarticulate. I‘ve been reading Romney’s book and am very impressed with the logic and expression in it. I will read Perry’s next.
I’m learning that Perry LIES. Like tonight……….the heart story of the girl on the HPV…..he met AFTER the mandate! Then……….he was not in favor of the AZ immigration law. And…..he said he was NOT for TARP, but there IS a letter he wrote encouraging the passage of it>!!
It AMAZES me that Perry has the nerve……or idiocy to self destruct his campaign……to regurgitate the OLD lame lines of flipping………..YET Perry HAS flipped (the Merck, the NY gay states’ rights are 2 recent ones!) and he LIES.
How DOES Beck who had the big “honor rally” (that I enjoyed when I was an avid Beck fan) “protect” a man like Perry………..and bash Romney???
Has Beck “lost his soul” in starting his own business with who knows what kind of pay to play deals in Texas??? I just am still trying to figure out HOW Beck‘s rhetoric lets him support Perry’s lies and numerous NOT conservative stands.

For those who are naieve enough to think that doesn’t matter, just go ahead and vote for Bachman, Paul, Cain, Gingrich, etc., and see them lose. Then what will you do in the general election? Frankly, I love Rick Perry and I’ll support him, but if only he had the quick brain and the grasp of principles to be a decent fighter in intellectual issues! He looks like, he looks like Alzheimer’s is starting to take over him already, he looks like he can’t even remember his talking points, and, Jay-Hova, that isn’t decent fighting. Brainiacs, we need you in politics, not people who have the problem of easily looking like dopes! Mitt? I say this in a spirit of full Christian charity, pretty much, more or less — Mitt is disgusting. Opportunist. Phony. Zero principles. If he thought Obamacare was just fine for Massachusetts, what doesn’t he think the government should do? Mitt is the ultimate fake-in-a-suit that always ends up winning the GOP nomination. I’d support Herman Cain if he could win, but as Obama has proven, comically, it is necessary to have executive experience in government. Or, at least, to not be an effortlessly double-talking phony, or to not have the problem of looking stupid.

Posted on September 22, 2011 at 11:22pmThe fact that Perry and Romney are the front runners for the Republican nomination speaks volumes about the gullibility of many so-called conservatives.
These two candidates have histories of inconsistent conservatism at least, and outright big government progressivism in some cases. The only reason they are the front runners is cosmetics and polished talking points (usually contrary to their own past statements).
How can any self-respecting person seriously consider voting for someone with such obviously phony, flip-flopping, “say whatever’s popular” inconsistentcy.
That character flaw (flip-flopping on issues) is what saved us from a John Kerry presidency and I hope Republicans recognize it in these two and nominate the one candidate who has been 100% consistent as a constitutional conservative for over 40 years – Ron Paul.

If McCain had won we would have never seen the rise of the Tea party in such a manner, with such rapidness. McCain would have seen a slow rise of “Tea Party” types, since he was “our guy”. But many in this country would still be languishing in apathy or disinterest.
I wrote in Ron Paul for my first vote ever. I would never have changed it, for I voted with my heart and conscience. For when you do that, your vote is never wasted. It is only wasted when you decide that voting for the “lesser of two evils” will work out.
See if we vote for Perry or Romney, we are going to get what we were going to get with McCain. A sense of being content, since it is our guy. NOT somebody who will lead a charge for our govt in a different direction.
