Romney: You Can Tell Who Voted Obama in 2008 ‘Because on Their Cars You See the Glue From Where the Bumper Sticker Used to Be’

Mitt Romney Makes Obama Bumper Sticker Joke at Jacksonville Campaign Rally

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney injected some humor into his campaign during an event in Jacksonville, Fla.  Saturday, suggesting that President Barack Obama’s 2008 voters can be identified by “the glue where the bumper sticker used to be” on their cars.

Romney suggested every single one of his supporters at the rally go find one person that voted for Obama in 2008 and convince them to vote for him and running mate Wis. Rep. Paul Ryan in November.

“I have something to ask you to do, and I‘m going to convince you to do it by the time I’m finished, I believe. I need to ask each one of you to find one person who voted for Barack Obama last time. And they’re out there. I know that — you can usually tell where they are because on their cars you see the glue from where the bumper sticker used to be,” Romney quipped.

“You need to go to those guys and each one of you needs to find one person that voted for Barack Obama and convince them to vote for Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney,” he said to cheers.

Watch Romney deliver the remarks Saturday in Jacksonville:

Romney’s campaign has been focusing heavily on the “disappointments” of Obama’s first term, the image of a removed bumper sticker obviously reiterating that message. The topic was also a main focus of Romney’s nomination acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention on Thursday.

Ryan also used a similar analogy in his RNC speech, saying “college graduates should not have to live out their 20s in their childhood bedrooms, staring up at fading Obama posters.”

Another way to identify an Obama voter is by the blank stare you get when you ask them to name the governor of their state, their House rep, or a single Supreme Court justice…. Or my favorite “tricky” question.. On a scale of 1- 10, rate Benjamin Franklin’s presidency…. THAT one they answer! duh!

In 2000, I did a similar thing outside a shopping mall, with similar results. Out of a 100 (my ending point) persons, only 3 were able to correctly answer all 10 very basic questions listed below. I’ve long maintained that in order to vote in national elections, one must have passed the same written test required of those seeking to become naturalized citizens.

1..Who is the current Vice President of the United States?
2..Who is the current Governor of your state? (NOTE: I live in Kansas City, and the metro area straddles the Missouri-Kansas border, so I got respondents from both states.)
3..Who is the Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States?
4..Who is the Democrat candidate for Vice President of the United States?
5..Who is your district’s current Representave in the U. S. House of Representatives?
6..How many Senators does your state have in the U. S. Senate?
7..Name a Senator from your state.
8..How many judges are on the U. S. Supreme Court?
9..Name the three branches of government.
10..From whom did we declare our independence in 1776?

Another way to tell that they voted for Obama, is they have a Giant Bible on their Coffee Table. They don’t read the Bible and the one they have is too big to pick up and read anyway. They may go to Church on Sunday, light a candle, eat a wafer with a sip of wine and then they run out and sin like hell Monday thru Friday.

They have no clue that on judgement day, they are going to be held accountable by God for every Word (Support) and every Deed (vote) they have done in their life. If you don’t think that God will judge your for who you support and vote for – you are dead wrong.

The Bible warns us never ever vote to for anyone that supports:
      Gay Marriage
      Abortion
      Non Support of Israel
Replaces Cardinal Dolan prayer with a Muslim prayer at the opening of DNC
and the list of warnings goes on and on.

I almost see God now saying, my people are drowning and I have sent them a row boat, speed boat and a helicopter, but they still put their faith in some plastic stature they place on their dash board.

Imagine Obama is your little plastic statute – then take out the magnet – what happens them?

Someone else runs the country other than Obama and the hatefilled republicans that block every good thing Obama wants to do for this country? Nothing makes sense anymore! Just blind love and devotion for this man…this one man… all the posters and accolades freak me out…like a communist leader.

Good one East! I get those blank stares when I ask my young liberal co-workers why they’re voting again for Obama. The normal response is “because I think he’s been a good president.” When I ask what he’s done, the typical response is “a lot.” When I ask for specifics, they usually repeat “a lot” and either walk away or change the subject. Obama’s going after the only focus group left to get him elected … the young and uninformed.

Now those who read Reddit, watch John Stewart or MSNBC are able to repeat the negative lies quite readily. They’re a little harder to bring into reality, because they attack rather than risk the possibility of a sane discussion. Saul Alinsky and his avid followers have taught their useful idiots well.

Look at the occupant of the cars with the Obama bumper sticker and you will see a woman in her 50‘s to 60’s, with short hair. Damn I was right! I get a kick out of RP supporters. They claim to be non-sheep and therefore will not follow a party blindly (a noble thought). Yet they fail to see how they are following a person blindly. RP is no God. He has plenty of failings as does the GOP. It is our job to reverse the damage of progressivism by using the same tactic that gave it roots. We must win bits and pieces each and every election. The GOP will again be ours over time.

That’s right, Abraham. The RNC has demonstrated just how corrupt they are. Time for a 3rd party, because commies and fascists SUCK! I’m hoping the Liberty Movement, the “new” Teaparty and true conservatives can bridge the gap in their differences and start putting up candidates of our own that will reflect our values. On a side note, I was going to write in Ron Paul as well, but think I’m going to vote for Johnson this time around. I’m more inline with the Constitutionalists, but Johnson does have a great track record as governor. He’s no RP and is wrong on a few issues, but he is fiscally conservative, respects the Bill of Rights and won’t go bombing 3rd world countries for BS.

I remember a Glenn Beck episode from a few years ago now. He was describing how the political system is not linear, left to right, but rather circular. This is true. 6 o’clock is middle of the road moderate. RINO country. Blue dogs live here. Extreme right is 3, extreme left is 9. 12 o’clock is where the fanatics live.

I give up on people like soyburger and individualism. Just angry and several more in here. The fact is they are no different than code pink, ows, peta or any other fanatical group. They are simply deluded nuts. There really is not any difference between Romney and Obama to them, this is how they see the world. I like most of the libertarian ideals and also believe in small government. I am just realistic enough to understand how things work. Like it or not government is going to play a part in your life and that is not necessarily wrong. Just Angry, who says any of us do not want our politicians to obey the law? Obama believes he is obeying the law and he will certainly not be impeached for anything he has done. John McCain obeys the law. What is your point? Just because YOU claim something is unconstitutional does not make it so. You think you have some kind of direct line to the thoughts of the founding fathers and this is just not the case. The founders had the exact same arguments we argue over and the Constitution WAS the compromise. This government is for the PEOPLE and by the PEOPLE. Not just Libertarians, not just Republicans, not just RINOS, and not just Christians. EVERYONE!

This is where you folks fall short and this is what makes you extreme. You refuse to compromise and our government is based on compromise. You claim you want liberty, freedom, and small government but the truth is you want a Ron Paul monarchy.

I don’t think that. There a few things they’ve done that are clear violations, and any halfwit could realize it. The most egregious thing that they‘ve done is nullify our rights to due process and a speedy trial and I’m pretty sure that I know how the founders think on this issue since it’s been a part of our traditions since 1215 when the Magna Carta was signed. I mean really, how can you justify it? WITCHES even had the right to a trial, folks SUSPECTED of SUPORTING terrorist organizations don’t. The British soldiers responsible for the Boston Massacre had a right to a trial… All of the assaults to our bill of rights are wrong. You don’t have to be a constitutional scholar to know this.

I live in a country where my vote counts (for now) and I am not going to through it away for pride…it is not principles to vote for Gary Johnson, its is ideology in its extreme expression. Be involved with your local groups, make sure your state senate starts recognizing libertarians…it is a grass roots idea and that is how we will eventual have viability, just complaining and telling everyone that votes for Romney that they are not true libertarians is putting the cart before the horse. Get involved, make a difference locally and little by little we will start to gain national ground.

Just Angry…I am sorry you typed such a long post, you just are not getting this.

Listen, it is really very simple. Either Obama or Romney will be the next president. Obama is worse than Romney. I am voting for Romney.

Really, it is that simple. I know Romney’s previous record. BTW, you do realize he was a governor of a very liberal state and not a member of congress, right?

There has been a lot of spin put on Romney’s beliefs. You cannot believe 90% of it. All I know is what Romney says now. Is he a politician? Yes. Is he a liar? I don’t think so. In any case, he does not vote on policy, he either signs or vetos. Congress is where it is at. Romney is more willing to sign Republican bills into law than Obama is. If you want change then Romney is the choice, Obama will simply be stalemate. If much of Obama’s legislation is not overturned in the next couple years then it will probably be here to stay.

I have not liked any president I have voted for since I started voting, except for Reagan’s second term, I did not even like Reagan the first time around. They were saying the same things about him then as they are Romney now. It is what it is.

I will give Romney the chance, it is either him or Obama and I KNOW what Obama will do. I do NOT know what Romney will do.

wow, i cannot believe my own eyes. So called ‘libertarians” telling me that I am extreme because I will not compromise. First of all, that is not true – because i would have compromised and voted for someone like Rand Paul or Herman Cain. Mitt Romney is more like Barack Obama than Thomas Jefferson – therefore i cannot vote for him. But at the end of the day, i am reminded of Goldwater’s quote.
“Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice!”

Besides Mitt Romney, I also cannot support the actions of the RNC during this primary and at the convention. Those of you who believe in ‘baby steps’ ought to take notice that the RNC did everything possible (including illegal) to deny tea party voice at the table. What we are left with today is a party controlled by a few people instead of the grassroots. I have voted republican at the local and state level – but because of what i have seen over the last year, i am reconsidering that as well.

@TrollTrainer, I do think I get what you’re saying, and conventional wisdom would say you‘re right that it’s a choice between Romney and Obama. Of course, I’ve never seen such dissatisfaction with both parties and the tyrannical legislation they both been passing since 9/11. So there’s a very slim chance for a miracle, but I don’t think it will happen. Now, if the Libertarians get a certain percentage of the vote, (I forget what percentage that is) it would be a game changer for future elections. They’d receive federal campaign funding, have their own set of primaries therefore get media coverage, etc. This is my preferred outcome. I‘m not voting for this time around because I’ve already lost, I’m voting for the future because of what the RNC and DNC represent. As for Obama and Romney, the choice isn’t so clear to me. They represent the same stuff on most issues that are important to me. Romney is better on energy and regulatory policies, but worse on foreign policy. I don‘t believe in this end of world prophesy you evangelicals and Mormons believe in and I don’t want to participate in anymore wars in the Middle East, so you say Romney’s the lesser of two evils and I disagree. I’d rather collapse through social justice than war. Furthermore the only way these politicians are going to listen to the will of the people is to lose power. If Obama controls healthcare in an aging society then he effectively control its death rate.  If he controls the death rate then he can effectively control the amount of revenue collected as a result of the death tax (the federal estate tax).  This is a tax that is assessed on the value of all of your assets upon your death including your house, cars, furniture, business property, machinery and inventory, stocks, bonds and real estate.  This is a big part of his hidden agenda.  This is the pot of gold Obama is after.
In 2013, the exemption drops from $5 million to $1 million.  Under an Obama 2nd term that exemption will fall much further and the death tax rate will climb enormously.  This is how he is going to “spread the wealth around”.

The republican party has went along with whatever rule changes the Romney campaign wants in order to potentially get rid of Obama. They have swallowed the camel. And yet, Glenn Beck is silent while Freedomworks, Mark Levin, Malkin, etc are up in arms.

Nothing funny about jokes from a fascist. Louise is right. Besides I’ve yet to see a Romney bumper sticker in Ohio. I don‘t believe he’ll take the state anyway. I’m expected all the Ron Paul bumper stickers will be Gary Johnson after all the flim flam the RNC pulled at the convention. I still think Romney was nominated to fail, only creating the illusion of choice.

      Rightunite, Obamabinlying, 13Lena,

This is not about Ron Paul any more. This is about a committee of 10 people stripping the states’ of their delegates. This will affect you, also, in the future if this is not corrected.
Used to be that Republicans would not stand for this kind of behaviour.
      Should we “lighten up”…..?
      No.
We should knuckle-down for what is right. What happened in Tampa is wrong.

LOUISE. What happened in during the primaries and eventually Tampa was “BLOWBACK” for Ron Paul and his supporters continued idiocy throughout the this and the last election in ‘08. What… you didn’t expect that we would fight back?

This wasn’t about blowing off the Tea Party or any Grassroots Movement(s)… this was about blowing off Ron Paul and his supporters. Y’all desrved the “BLOWBACK” for your trying to game the system and bypass the will of the majority. Tough.

The RNC rules state that the nominee will be decided by the delegates, and not the ‘will of the majority’. Therefore, the Ron Paul campaign tried to get as many delegates as possible.

Yea, fascists and tyrants do not like dissent and there is usually blowback when there is a perceived threat

      Good morning , Time
      This isn’t about Ron Paul.
This is about silencing the voice(s) of any grassroots activism in the future, if that grassroots activism does not line up with the RNC elitists.
So, in other words, if YOU ever want to be part of a grassroots movement to affect change, this is what you can expect from the party leadership, if this rules change is not corrected.
This is just wrong, TIME. Our form of government is supposed to be by the PEOPLE, not from a few at the top of the RNC.
So what is at stake here?
YOUR right to send YOUR delegate to YOUR convention in the future! This is not about Ron Paul anymore! It is about you, me, everyone who loves liberty.

That’s right… and Ron Paul didn‘t and still wouldn’t have had enough delegates (regardless of your super… not so secret… Romney, er, Ron Paul delegates to make any real difference). The Romney campaign AND the RNC tried very hard to work with y’all and let your voices heard. They tried over and over again to make nice with you insurgent agitators (when they/we really didn’t have to OR need to), but your agitational attempt at gaming the system was met with the proper response IMO.

I hear and understand that you are perfectly fine with 10 people deciding whether or not to honor you choice. I hear and understand from you that in future elections, why vote? I mean really …..why
vote if someone is gong to take that from you? Then you can take that to the logical conclusion….why even hold elections in the first place if a few at the top know what is best for everyone else?
Have a good day folks. I really do care about all of you. I care that we all still have some semblance of free speech. Just remember what John Quincy Adams said>>>>Liberty is Power.

Ultimately…. die-hard Ron Paul supporters like SOY will be laying in their beds at night and staring at the same Obama poster that was on on their ceilings from ‘08. It’s the last thing they see when they drift off into their patriotic slumbers with that sh//t eaten’ grin on their faces…

I lived in Virginia Beach prior to moving to Florida (Clearwater) a little over two years ago and that may have been the case where YOU lived and during the last election in ‘08 (not where I lived in the Hampton Roads area though). I know that story you’re telling to be different now. You also stated that there was an overwhelming amount of Ron Paul supporters in Virginia (or at least in your area). Why didn’t that translate into an overwhelming victory for Ron Paul eh? It was only he and Romney battling it out there… wha’ happen amigo??

LOL! YOU FOOL!!!!!! I have been living in Hampton Roads since 2006!

You cant even follow simple logic. I said “I see a lot more Obama stickers than Romney stickers” – that has NOTHING to do with 2008, i am talking about TODAY. And it is true by the fact that there are very very few Romney stickers.

Ron Paul won my congressional district and got 41% of Virginia (against 59% for Romney). I have NEVER said Ron Paul was going to win the primary – but that isnt why i support candidates anyways. I could say the same for you since Rick Santorum didnt win
