Ron Burgundy Makes Surprise Appearance on ‘Conan’ to Announce Anchorman Sequel

Will Ferrell Announces Sequal to AnchormanNEW YORK (AP) — Will Ferrell’s swashbuckling newscaster Ron Burgundy had his own breaking news to announce Wednesday night: A sequel to “Anchorman” is finally happening.

Ferrell made a surprise, in-character appearance on “Conan” to regale the audience with a flute solo and declare a deal with Paramount Pictures. A sequel to the 2004 hit comedy, “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” has long been discussed.

Ferrell informed host Conan O’Brien: “It’s official, there will be a sequel to `Anchorman.’”

Earlier, Paramount had declined a musical plan put forth by Ferrell and director Adam McKay that also included a proposed Broadway stage show. No details on the project were immediately available but McKay, producer Judd Apatow, and co-stars Paul Rudd and Steve Carell are expected to return.

I love you, Ron Burgandy….. This was one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Sequels generally don’t work, but we shall see.

I didn’t like the movie because I WAS one of the first woman engineers at one of those San Diego TV stations and we were real women with real stories about breaking into a field dominated by men. The men didn’t quite know what to make of us. The Legend of Ron Burgundy made fun of that and I felt like my experience had been trivialized. I wasn’t trying to make waves or cause trouble. Television engineering was simply something that I wanted to do. I wasn’t there to “make a statement.”

Well, it’s not Duck Soup but it might not be fatal…

“Well, that covers a lot of ground. Say, you cover a lot of ground yourself. You better beat it – I hear they‘re going to tear you down and put up an office building where you’re standing. You can leave in a taxi. If you can’t get a taxi, you can leave in a huff. If that’s too soon, you can leave in a minute and a huff. You know, you haven’t stopped talking since I came here? You must have been vaccinated with a phonograph needle.”
    - Groucho

or perhaps the more esoteric (from Animal Crackers)…

“Well, art is art, isn’t it? Still, on the other hand, water is water. And east is east and west is west, and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce, they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh… Now you tell me what you know.”

Sorry, I just do not appreciate Will Ferrell’s humor. I put him in the same class as Adam Sandler and Mike Myers. Infantile really.

the one time i watch conan, ron buragandy comes on . that skit wasn’t too funny, but it was just great to see one of the greatest men of our time: ron burgandy.

    i adore that character.

all of you need to let the conservative mumbo jumbo let loose a little, and have some laughs.

You’re joking, right ? This is funny ? Disgusting is more appropriate. Turned it off before he even finished his schtick.
What’s even more disturbing is the audience reaction.
    We’re cooked;we’re done.

A lot of people thought it was dumb….also, a lot of people thought it was hilarious. I was one that fit into both categories. I really enjoyed the movie. But that is because sometimes you just want to laugh….not have to figure out why something is funny, but just laugh. I hope that the sequel is as funny and unexpected as the first. The part that will really make it funny, though, is the “return of Steve Carell”! Hilarious guy….Can’t wait to see “Brick” and his antics again…………”I wanted to invite you to the pants party.”
