Ron Paul supporter Edward Dillard has filed a lawsuit against the Newt Gingrich campaign, claiming Gingrich's security stomped on his foot during an event, causing a fracture. (AP)
A Ron Paul supporter has filed a lawsuit against the Newt Gingrich campaign, claiming a security officer for the GOP presidential hopeful stomped on his foot “like he was stomping out a cigarette,” the Associated Press reported.
Edward Dillard, a central Florida resident, said his foot was fractured in the Tuesday incident, which took place on the day of the state’s primary.
According to the AP, Dillard was wearing a Paul T-shirt and holding a sign at a Gingrich campaign stop in Orlando when a “swarm” of security guards surrounded him, one stomping on his foot while he was wearing open sandals.
Yahoo! News reported the incident at the time:
Gingrich aides and security personnel swarmed Dillard, trying to intimidate him into moving. One of Gingrich’s security agents stepped in front of him. When Dillard didn’t budge, the agent lifted his heeled shoe over Dillard’s bare foot and dug the back of it into his skin, twisting it side-to-side like he was stomping out a cigarette. Shocked, Dillard kept his ground and took a picture of the agent with his phone, which was quickly knocked out of his hand. Dillard slipped off his flip-flop to pick up the phone with his foot, and a Gingrich supporter kicked the sandal away.
“Don’t kick me!” Dillard said to the man who knocked away his sandal. More members of Gingrich’s security retinue approached, shoving their shoulders and chests in front of him.
“Just block him!” a Gingrich campaign aide said. “Everyone step on his toes!”
Dillard is seeking damages in excess of $75,000 for battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent hiring, NewsCore reported.
Ron Paul’s campaign has called for Gingrich to apologize. The Gingrich campaign has not commented on the matter.

His foot was fractured when the Gingrich guy dug his heel into the top of the supporter’s foot and then — twisted his heel. I wish someone had been there to knock Gingrich‘s guy’s teeth out!

Every time. It’s getting real old real fast.
And what exactly does a soldier sacrificing themselves for us have to do with this story? It doesn’t. Again you’[re just trying to paint the “Ron Paul and his supporters hate the military!” picture. Which couldn’t be further from the truth seeing as Paul receives more campaign contributions from active duty personnel than anyone else.

The vast majority of Ron Paul supports are reasonable people who do believe in the Constitution, want to end the Fed–along with many other things, and return power to the states. And yes, we would love to see the federal government end it’s senseless war on marijuana. We waste an absurd amount of money and resources preventing the trade of a natural plant that’s safer than alcohol and tobacco. Posted on February 5, 2012 at 7:22pm@DB321, take your obnoxious and arrogant opinions and keep them to yourself. I am a Marine Corps veteran, an Oathkeeper, and a Ron Paul supporter. I don’t have to want to use any currently illegal drug to realize that a “war on drugs” is an ignorant way to waste taxpayer dollars. Not to mention it takes an otherwise minor social problem and creates an economic incentive to break the law. This leads to violence and increased incarceration. It is stupid.
The OWS crowd is not full of Ron Paul supporters. Their entire stated goal is to increase the size of gov‘t and to use gov’t to regulate every industry for their own purposes. That is not a Libertarian ideal or one that Ron Paul supports.
And as for the idea that a Ron Paul supporter is a union plant… That is the weakest link in your chain of ignorance. Unions prefer a large gov’t that supports them in their efforts to fleece the workforce. They are not for free markets, but for monopolized labor. Even if there are plants to support Ron Paul, they are only giving Ron free publicity, and no publicity is bad publicity. As far as I’m concerned, they can‘t do any harm by supporting the candidate who stands for the Constitution and a federal form of gov’t.

I used to do this. The last soldier I thanked told me the second amendment doesn’t apply to individual citizens after he started a political discussion with me. He also tried to pass off several other “things the military told him” about the Constitution until I pulled out my pocket version to show him what it says. It’s now harder for me thank soldiers simply for being soldiers without knowing why they decided to become one.

Posted on February 6, 2012 at 8:34amSince the Constitution is based on the Bible, then it would behoove evangelical Christians to support the candidate whose political philosophy most closely lines up with the Constitution.
The reason why many evangelicals do not support Ron Paul is simply that they are uninformed as to the other candidates’ unconstitutional or even socialistic record on some issues, and have not listened to Ron Paul. Furthermore, like sheep, they follow the crowd, such as the group of 150 evangelical leaders who steered them toward a ‘moderate’ candidate, which some might call an unconstitutional contender (Romney/Santorum/Gingrich).

Since you asked…
First off – innocent until proven guilty. (I’m doubtful the events unfolded EXACTLY as stated – perhaps his foot was broken, but it is more likely this was an accident because the guy was standing closer than the rest of the crowd…secondly, it makes no sense that someone puts out a cigarette with his or her HEEL – He said it was like someone putting out a cigarette, and then states it was the heel?! See, even his story is weird).
It is funny because it doesn‘t take much brain power to realize you shouldn’t wear flip-flops if you’re going to a tight standing-room-only event. Furthermore, it takes even less brain power to realize that as a swirling mass of humanity comes through the packed space, and they tell you to get out of the way – that you might want to get out of the way for your own good.
It’s funny because this person decided to take on a whole entourage of people heading towards him, and he paid the price. Notice how no one else had any issues?
It’s funny because this person made SEVERAL silly decisions, was warned, and then paid a price (most likely unintentionally). I guess you never laughed at people doing silly things before?

Umm…no, you’re wrong. Tronininthemorning started this thread. None of those quotes you refer to are in THIS thread – they are in OTHER threads. You jumped into this tread and started railing against stuff no one had said.
Your answer only serves to prove that your hate HAS blinded you.
As per your “apples to ear wax” comparison: You keep leaving out the biting off of a finger and the video proof of the incident. The two situations aren’t even comparable.
Situation 1. Guy attacked solely for selling merchandise. Guy punched. Guy knocked down. Guy gets finger bitten off. Video taken of the whole thing.
Situation 2. Guy SAYS someone purposely stepped on his foot, no evidence, and then sues for absurd amounts of money.
Common sense goes a long way here. Situation 1 simply could NOT have happened “By accident” – Situation 2 likely DID happen “By accident.” It‘s scary that as someone who wasn’t even there, sees no evidence, or anything like that – that you feel justified in finding people GUILTY. In America, we believe in innocent until PROVEN guilty. You must not “Luv” freedom has much as you want people to believe – or do you only believe in freedom for those who see things your way?

Posted on February 5, 2012 at 12:14pmREALLY? Let’s go stand in a CROWD and wear FLIP FLOPS???
First of all, there was a CROWD there, and you were wearing flip flops.
Secondly, to win a lawsuit, he will have to PROVE – WHICH PERSON stepped on his toes.
What I’d like to really know is, Yahoo reported all these things as FACT.
Yahoo did NOT say that the victim ALLEGED these things.
Yahoo ‘reported’ these things happened.
According to whom?
Did their “reporter” witness all of this themselves?
If so, he has a case.
I suspect shoddy “journalism” and that this is what the victim CLAIMS happened.
To be better prepared in the future, perhaps they should grab GINGRICH picket signs, and surround him so that his sign cannot be seen. This does not force him to move, it only obscures his sign from the cameras. Then, if HE wants to move, you can let him move out the side of the circle that is AWAY from Gingrich. This is just good common sense for ANY candidate or security detail in this situation.
Then we have the question of whether Gingrich’s security detail perceived a THREAT to Gingrich.
(Picket signs can be wielded with force) (just playing devil’s advocate here)
In which case, they may have been protecting Gingrich.
If so, should they have pulled weapons and asked him to move along?
I doubt it.
Was there room to move Gingrich to avoid bad optics?
The simple fact he went to a Gingrich rally to protest tells you something about him to start with.

HOW we do it is another story.
Showing up to protest Gingrich and root for Paul, implies that he was looking to be confrontational.
Otherwise, he would have gone to an RP rally… not a Gingrich rally.
Why he would be wearing flip flops when he knew he was going to be standing in a CROWD is a bit odd, too. It is not like rallies are orderly lines of people. They are crowded, and people are looking at the candidate, not at the ground to see where they are walking.
Lastly, does he have any evidence? Or, is Yahoo ‘reporting’ accusations? They do not ‘report’ it as an accusation. Yahoo reports it as FACT. He will need PROOF if he is to prevail in a lawsuit.
Plus, when his PHONE got “kicked”, he SHOUTS, “DON’T KICK ME!”
He claims they said, “Step on his toes!”
Is it possible someone said, “Don’t step on his toes!”?
Remeber, it was crowded.
I keep coming back to the fact:
HE KNEW he was setting up a confrontation by taking an RP picket sign to another candidate’s rally.
Just playing devil’s advocate.

Posted on February 5, 2012 at 12:01pmThis story is based upon the mans story stating that he was there first and Gingrich moved in on him. Is there ANY proof of this? Could it possibly have been that Gingrich might have been there first and this guy was trying to disrupt things? This case will depend on witnesses that are in good standing in the community testifying as to who was at that spot first. If the man was trying to disrupt the Gingrich campaign he should be arrested. If He was there and Gingrich encroched upon his spot then the man gets paid. We shall see how this turns out but I have my ideas this is a man trying to make a quick buck.

Posted on February 5, 2012 at 2:48pmThere appears tto be a few holes in your theory:
1) Newt whips Obama in the debates – He might win a debate or two, but how many do you think Obama will agree to? 2, maybe three. And Newt didn’t exactly shine in the Florida debates.
2) Clean house in Congress? – Not sure how a President can do that and keep within the Constitution.
3) Scares people – you might have something there. Sure scares me. He’s a loose cannon, problem with that is you have no idea where the grapeshot goes until he pops off.
Not saying I like anyone in this field, but I will vote for whoever gets the Republican nod. I just don’t see a choice as our current President is way to radical for me.

Yes, and an Obama supporter has a right to show up at a TEA party rally wearing all thecommercialized t-shirts and ffactory made signs they can….. And Westboro Baptists have a right to show up on the sidewalks at the funerals of gay soldiers and yell at the soldier’s mourners. It was stupid.

Posted on February 5, 2012 at 12:08pmWhat Do Ron Paul’s Internet Fans Have In Common With Unsolicited Emailers Offering You Sixty (60) Million In Unclaimed Nigerian Gold? Apparently many of his most passionate fans headquarter their spamming operations in the internet fraud capital of the world.
AB Spam Team Spots First Presidential Campaign Spam:
Anti-spam researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) noted a disturbing new trend following Sunday’s Republican Candidates Presidential debate. One of the candidates has a new spam campaign dedicated to proclaiming him victorious in the debate and extolling his virtues as the future president.
Apparently many of his most passionate fans headquarter their spamming operations in the internet fraud capital of the world. The new messages have headlines such as:
Ron Paul Wins GOP Debate!
Ron Paul Eliminates the IRS!
Ron Paul Stops Iraq War!
Vote Ron Paul 2008!
Iraq Scam Exposed, Ron Paul
Government Wasteful Spending Eliminated By Ron Paul
Warner says, “We’ve seen many previous emails reported as spam from other campaigns or parties, but when we’ve investigated them, they all were sent from the legitimate parties.” The important distinction between the new emails and previous emails, Warner says, is the fraudulent nature of the message. Legitimate messages tell who they are from, and provide a means of “unsubscribing” from future messages from the same source.

While it was standing room only, few donned religious garb.
“I didn’t realize there were so many orthodox Jews and Seventh Day Adventists living in Las Vegas,” he said wryly.
There aren’t. Unless “Ron Paul” is a religion.
The Texas congressman’s “revolution” stormed a special caucus at a private school in a tony suburb on the edge of Las Vegas, set up by Clark County GOP officials for those who couldn’t caucus with the rest of the state Saturday morning for religious reasons.
“We decided we were going to come in here and do it anyway, no matter what,” said Sam McCaslin, a 38-year-old record company executive. “There is no law that says your vote is based on your religion. But there are Party rules, And the Paulites bent them.
Paul’s campaign made last-minute calls directing supporters to the special site at the Adelson Educational Campus. Dozens of them signed a party declaration saying they missed Saturday’s caucuses because of “religious beliefs.”
