Ron Paul Supporters Boo Romney Son Off Stage at Ariz. GOP Convention

Supporters of Texas Rep. Ron Paul booed one of Mitt Romney’s adult sons off the stage Saturday at the Arizona Republican Party convention as he tried to consolidate support for his father.

Josh Romney’s speech to state GOP members was cut short by jeers from Paul backers at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, the Arizona Republic reported.

The state’s convention was to elect delegates for the national convention in August, where the former Massachusetts governor is expected to wrap up the nomination to take on President Barack Obama.

“We cannot afford four more years of President Obama,” said Josh Romney, the third of Mitt Romney’s five sons. “We need someone to step in there and turn things around.”

But Josh had to stop repeatedly as people booed and yelled for Paul, who has continued campaigning in the Republican primary. All other challengers, including Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich, have dropped out of the race, and Romney has a commanding lead over Paul in the estimated delegate count.

But Paul supporters have begun flooding state conventions, recently winning control of delegate majorities in Nevada and Maine.

Josh Romney tried to pacify the crowd by taking a moment to recognize his father’s former rivals. It appeared to have little effect: Telling delegates to vote for his dad as he finished up, the crowd “exploded with competing boos and cheers, cutting him short.”

According to the Republic, some attendees said they heard Paul supporters chanting outside that Mitt Romney was “the white Obama.”

Everyone please do your homework. That was the last part of his speech where he asks everyone to unite behind Romney. He was NOT booed off the stage. He got to finish his speech. The video you see is the end of his speech. Very very misleading.

qpwillie – The problem is anyone speaking at these state conventions is saying something to the effect “we must support Romney”.

That is wrong. Romney is not yet the nominee. Many states have not yet voted – and by going around saying things like this you are cheating those remaining states from having any voice in the selection.

If they would just say – “we must support the Republican candidate” – all would be good, and no one would get booed. But when you know a large number of former Santorum and Gingrich supporters are now standing with someone besides Romney (Paul), do you really want to make them mad at the GOP and drive them away by making foolish statements?

If you’re really serious about returning to limited government, Ron Paul is the candidate to vote for, as his voting record has shown that he has always voted in favor of the Constitution.

Ron Paul is a cult of personality, he is everything to everyone. The big tent he presides over is full of people who don’t agree on very much. They are a nexus of opposition to ‘everything’, but they’re also a collection of groups that splinter faster than old wood in a thunderstorm.

Ron Paul’s program which is big on ambitious assaults on the government, but short on the details, finesses many of those disagreements. Gay rights? Abortion? Immigration? If you squint and only pay attention to the right statements, then Ron Paul is for you. Like Santa’s little elves, his followers spread his selective word by focusing in on target demographics and barraging them with talking points that make it seem like Ron Paul is on their side. Whose side is Ron Paul on? Most likely his own.

The simplest reason why Ron Paul has become the perennial candidate of the Ringling Bros circus is a combination of two things. A past in which he marketed himself heavily to conspiracy theorists as a former member of Congress and a present in which he is a member of Congress

As the posters here who dont like the system have called it highjacking, its not. Its called following the rules. An interesting point needs to be made out. If Romney is so great and organized why isnt he winning these delegates. Seems to me he has very little enthusiaism surround his campaign. That equals a crushing loss to Obama if we are unfortunate enough to have him as our nominee.

All of you say ABO but the only one with a shot is Ron Paul. He can get his supporters, the ABO crowd, and the “omgnotromney/mccain” crowd. To ignore this fact is just ignorant.

Romney will not get the support of the 10 to 15% of the voters who have been voting for Ron Paul to support him. Without that vote you hopefully only get 4 more years but maybe more of Obama. So the choice is clear. Its either Ron Paul or you get Obama.

RP supporters are neolib/ neoconfederates secessionists! Paul isnt even a republican why is he tryingto get on the ticket? Oh thats right b/c he thinks invoking the constitution in every other sentence qualifies him to be POTUS so ppl will just flock to him. I have found RP supporters to be by far the most viscous vile ppl next to the radical left movement. Its their way or you are deemed anti-American, you hate freedom, the Constitution, etc etc. I have called out faults in Paul and have been on the receiving end of attacks you couldnt believe, the last time I got attacked to the degree I get now was back in ‘08 by Obama drones. I always believed if any real violence starts out in the US it will be by the hands of the left, but IMO if anything gets started here where real true violence (talking shootings, real destruction of property) will be by the hands of Paul supporters.

RP is probably one of the most dangerous men in this country. His suppoters put the MAN ahead of the nation! They would rather an Obama 2nd term than support whomever gets the nomination and/ or torpedo the GOP nominee by voting 3rd party/write in or promoting ppl to not vote!!!
      Consider this:
40% of the vote to Obama
33% of the vote to GOP nominee (99.99% will be Romney)
22% of vote goes to RP write-in/ 3rd party candidate
5% doesnt vote out of spite = Obama’s 2nd term
We can deal with 1 ONE term of Romney… we will not survive through a 2nd Obama

The left has no shortage of Ron Pauls in Congress, cranks and loons like Shirley Jackson Lee. When they want to run the chief loon of their side who thinks that the government is beaming radio waves into their brain at the behest of the military industrial complex, they had Cynthia McKinney, the presidential candidate for the Green Party in 2008, who was endorsed by Ron Paul at one point. But their pickings on the Republican side are slimmer. It’s Ron Paul or it’s nobody.

When Ted Rall was dreaming of a left-right revolution against the government, the Paul Pot had been openly talking about it. Rand Paul discussed a left-right coalition for rolling back the “American Empire”. That sort of crossover is what makes Ron Paul valuable. The media championed him as an Anti-War Republican because he offered a left-right coalition against the War on Terror.

For all that the wonks insist on viewing America as a red and blue state lineup, there are a lot of other colors in the mix. More than the libertarians, most of whom have a limited comfort level with Paul, there are various flavors of anarchists, white supremacists, conspiracy theorists, and people who are even further off the map. They are a politically underserved demographic and while they won’t win elections, they have the obsessive nature and the time to make a difference.

      Time_2,

There you go lying again. Ron Paul never, ever endorsed Cynthia McKinney. The whole truth is that in 2008 Paul did attend a press conference with Mckinney and Ralph Nader and others and Paul said that people who were not happy with the two big party candidates should consider voting for an independent or a third party candidate. That is hardly “endorsing Cynthia McKinney”. The only candidate Paul ever endorsed after his withdrawal in 2008 was Chuck Baldwin. You have told this lie numerous times on The Blaze and you know full well it is a lie.

40% of the vote to Obama
55% of the vote from the ABO crowd + RP Supporters
5% doesnt vote out of spite

= Obama out of office, Ron Paul in the white house and you can have an administration that will follow the Constitution to the letter.

      Time_2,

Since we both know that you are lying, there must be a reason that you feel the need to constantly spread these lies about Ron Paul as well as Paul’s supporters. For example, if some apolitical, uninformed outsider were to listen to you, he would get the impression that 90% of Ron Paul’s supporters are drug-abusing, racist, anti-Semite, hedonistic leftists, when in fact the vast majority of Ron Paul’s supporters are much more similar to me. I have never used any illegal drugs (in fact I’ve never even drank alcohol or smoked anything in my life), I am a conservative Christian, I’ve been faithfully married to the same woman for 26 years. I’m not a racist or an anti-Semite, and I’ve voted for Republicans for 30 years. I, and the vast majority of Paul supporters, admire him for his honesty, his humility, and his unwavering commitment to the Constitution, individual liberty, responsibility, and honest fiscal policy and his consideration of Christian Just War Doctrine (as well as the Constitution) regarding war.
So…..What is your real reason for blatantly lying about Paul and his supporters? Where does the hate come from? Don’t deny hating. Your near-obsessive posts make it clear that you hate Paul and those who support him.
Are you a nanny-stater? Do you enjoy war? Do you think that our government is operating as it should? Why don’t you give the honest reason for your fear and hate?

Romney is the “white Obama” or as I call him, Obama lite. They have similar views on gun control and despite what you may have been told previously, they are both big government military industrialists. Neither one would ever bring us peace in this age of war without severe death tolls. They figure they can continue to drag out war for decades and decades by just changing the venue and chasing ghosts. The next ghost will be Kony and their front man for this change has already revealed himself to be a drunkard and an idiot.

Personally, I think that if we really wanted to end the hell in Africa, we’d all buy up a couple old bolt action .30 caliber rifles and send them over there. I’ve never seen an armed refugee camp.

Anybody who thinks Romney is the same as 0bama is dreadfully ignorant about who 0bama is. If you think 0bama is just another big government progressive, you need to hold off on voting until you learn what’s going on.

Here’s a little hint to get you pointed in the right direction, Alex Jones and Lew Rockwell are not even close to being on the right track.

They’re as bad as the occupiers. If you‘re so sure RP is your man what’s wrong with actually debating instead of shouting everyone else down. And for all of you calling Romney a “Goldman Sachs candidate”, you so close to being part of OWS that you’re practically using their main arguments. I’m sick of all the rhetoric getting thrown around. Why can‘t people just use the candidate’s actual records to make an argument and discuss their actual positions? For example, some people have brought up the fact that RP has only seen one bill proposed by him actually pass. Regardless of whether you agree with his views or not, it seems clear to me that he hasn’t been very effective at actually accomplishing that much.

      Ok, lets debate.

Why does Romney put out a budget that doesnt cut current spending levels?

Why does Romney support the Patriot Act and the NDAA?

Why does Romney believe that gun laws keep citizens safe?

Why does Romney think that we need to continue to nation build and protect other nations while we go bankrupt?

Why did Romney say he was pro choice?

Why did Romney raise taxes in fees as governor?

Why in as late as 2009 did Romney say he supports a national healthcare mandate and was glad Obama was using his plan?

Why did Romney say we need to win over the hearts and minds of foreign nations like Hezbolla did by building hospitals and giving food to them?

      Why does he support bailouts?

Why is Romney accepting money from the same big banks as Obama?

Why is Romney silent on stopping the FED from turning us into a banana republic?

Why is Romney not against the TSA molestations?

Romney will get the Ron Paul supporters. Romney will not pull any votes from Obama. Romney will not beat Obama.

Thank goodness we still have a chance at freedom.

Ron Paul’s broad appeal is that he promises to reduce the power of government and American power in general, and that’s something everyone from Communists to Nazis, anarchists to monarchists can get behind. Revolutions begin with a broad front assault on the system and Ron Paul has ended up as the symbol of a broad front of those who see some political, financial or other benefit from taking down the system.

That’s why Ron Paul’s generic policy positions, which aside from drabs of paranoia are not all that distinguishable from many of his opponents, are not really the issue. His pet obsessions even less so except that they allow him to speak the language of his supporters and they make him completely irrelevant on most other issues.

From what I can gather, neither the DNC or the RNC have been playing fair with their nominations for Presidential candidates. In such a crucial election, I can understand why they would be upset. So many things we grew up believing in have been usurped by progressives and desperate folks. Personally I think Romney will betray us all in the end, but it will be slower than Obama. I would also feel better voting for Paul, but only marginally. I really hoped the conservatives would find a hero. I guess not.

It is not an occupier mentality. The people who vehemently support Ron Paul understand that this 2 party system and our current government will continually erode our God-given and natural rights and we see people who support the erosion of those rights as enemies. It is not like the typical Republican and Democrat who just see their position as opposing viewpoints on how to run a nation or government. Our political beliefs put are more akin to a slave master type scenario and we see large government and all who support it as a slave merchant. This is not like the OWS’ers who are simply a violent group who want to use the large government for their own purposes and make it even larger to further regulate.

Your opinions are too simple minded. You really need to get out or read some.

Who is the real Ron Paul? Like the real Obama it doesn’t really matter. It’s the people who have gathered behind him that are interesting. Their politics are primarily negative. They share a common paranoia and ruthlessness with Obama’s supporters, but while Obama’s supporters wanted power, they claim not to want it. And yet their campaigns have been exercises in seizing power, in media manipulation, intimidation and deception. There is no real difference between their tactics and those of their far-left, but we are to believe that there is a difference in goals.

The purpose of power is power. Those who seize power ultimately use it and revolutionaries who promise that their tactics will change once they are no longer insurgents are not to be believed. The most troubling thing about the Ron Paul campaign is not Ron Paul, but his supporters. It is they who define him more than he defines them. Their collective bum rush isn’t just violent, it’s simmering with a familiar paranoid cunning laced with bigotry, manipulation and lies. It’s the behavior of people who believe they are entitled to power and will do anything to get it.
