Roof of Minneapolis Metrodome Collapses During Snow Storm

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minneapolis Metrodome, where the Minnesota Vikings play, has collapsed during a snowstorm.

The Metrodome is operated by the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission. Its executive director, Bill Lester, said Sunday morning the damage is being assessed and the agency will issue a statement later. He says he has no details yet on what happened.

Minneapolis and much of the upper Midwest have been hit by a blizzard that has dumped up to 20 inches of snow in some areas.

The Vikings’ Sunday NFL football game against the New York Giants had already been pushed to Monday. It is not clear what will happen to the schedule now.

    funny how you don’t hear from Al gore in the winter.. hmmm? but when it’s starts to get hot outside (the summer) you can’t shut the man up.. ok ok he does come out from time to time and say see it’s cold because of global warming. say what?!?!?!?!?! ha

Did you get a trophy for attendance in math class, or were you taught by the same guys who are pushing global warming, er, uh, cooling, er, whatever? A roof in Minneapolis that can’t take snow. Wow. I mean, Wow. It‘s like Kennedy’s 15-billion dollar killer tunnel in Boston. Oh, we’re so fortunate to have such vigilant shepherds watching out for us….

    Mr pres, and all other buffoons who believe this crap…. Trees are a renewable resource. As they are cut down ,more are planted then the little trees eat our carbon dioxide. And in return they give us oxygen. Even a third grader used to know that! I know it’s hard to watch your world crumble. But it makes me very happy. And besides, who is to say the temp will always stay the same???!!!!! That is in Gods hands, That big orange thing in the sky? That causes glo-bull warming, or cooling , or whatever you nuts are calling it today.

    I think since New York has a nice stadium and now Minnesota doesn’t, we should redistribute New Meadowlands Stadium to the Vikings. Obviously the Giants must have gotten their nice new facility at the expense of the Metrodome. Maybe they stole roof supports from the poor Metrodome, and now those evil rich New York teams are trying to stop the Vikings from ever playing again by conjuring a blizzard to wrekc their stadium, stop them from playing, and bury them under five feet of snow. Although, I do smell money to be made here… What if we taxed each snowflake that came from New York that lands in Minnesota. …What do you mean we can’t determine where it came from? Oh well. Better safe than sorry. Tax it all.

    Vikes are looking to get a new stadium……hmmmm…..oh no, the roof deflated, caused major structural issues, please everyone in Minnesota, you have to help pay for a new bloated stadium because owners have no money.

    We’ll be forced to move the team otherwise.

    Create a crisis then, take advantage of it!

    Remember when the Vikings played outside in the cold, ice and snow?! Bud Grant wouldn’t allow bench warmers for the bench warmers and the Vikings never lost at home in the cold. Now they are a dome team sans the dome and if they are forced to play outside it will probably favor the Giants. I miss watching those frigid Vikings home games from the comfort of my home :-)

      Yes, but it won’t be the trade unions going to work just yet, at least not until all of the hot air from the lawyers has had its effect on the climate, and repair funding is milked from the taxpayer.
      The Engineers and Constructors will be in litigation for the next ten years, but by then global warming will preclude any new calc’s for snow load and the same roof system can be re-installed. Right Al?

    Stupid climate change making all of the stupid snow collapse the stupid roof on the stupid Metrodome…..and now no stupid football game for the stupid forseeable future…..it may be the best thing for the stupid Vikings this year. Thank you, stupid Al Gore…..

      It was very good news a game wasn’t being played in there when the roof collapsed! Yikes! That would have been a real tragedy.
      Even the Mall of America was closed as well as the metro buses. Glad I didn’t have to be out in it. I sat inside and watched Snowzilla!

      There’s a difference between weather and climate. It’s a fact that the average temperature of the earth has increased. A more appropriate term though is ‘climate change’ because we really don’t know the full implications and the exact causes. Additionally, common sense should tell you that all the crap we pump into the air combined with all the trees we cut down has a negative impact on the planet.

      Mr President, the global temperature has been decreasing for over ten years. It has gone down almost 1.5 deg centigrade in that time period. This is based, of course, on records kept since about 1855, which is when the planet began warming up after the mini ice age known as the maunder minimum.
      The whole “global warming” thing was just a scam. Before that we had a “global cooling” scam. Study your history. Learn the truth. It really will put the lie to these type of scams.
      The planet gets warmer, then gets cooler, then repeats. At one time, for millions of years, earth was a ball of ice. The truth is out there.

      Wow, Here’s hoping maybe some JOBS can be the result of this NATIONAL crisis…….
      Let’s see: Inspectors, Engineers, Architects, Construction Labor…..
      And…Vendors i.e food service…Might cost some T-shirt vendors some work briefly…
      Of course some materials producers should possibly benefit is repairs are ordered……

      Mrpresident, you are full of Toro Poo-Poo. The “reason ” the surface temperatures are going up on the Earth is most of the weather stations used to be out in the boonies by the airports. Now they are all in the urban settings, thus increasing the apparent ambient temperatures. The actual average temperatures of the sea have not changed….

Buy an SUV, leave your lights on, eat lots of beans or whatever else you can think of!! It’s time to warm up the planet and save professional football !!!!……..lol!

      It‘s a fact that there has been cooling over the last 10 years according to AGW ’scientists’
      It‘s a fact that one Volcano can spew more ’pollutants’ into the air then man ever dreamed.
      It’s a fact that the Earth purifies everything man can throw at it.
      It‘s a fact that the Earth’s climate has changed and is constantly changing before and during man’s existence on it!
      It’s a fact that there was a medeival times which allowed the Vikings to settle Greenland only to be wiped out from the Little Ice Age that followed.
      It is a fact that your AGW scientists discredited all peer reviews that claimed anything contrary to their wealth distributive ‘solution’ to global warming.

      If you did your home work you would know that one reason global temperatures have risen is because: 1) physical changes in the past 20 years have created situations where weather stations are now in parking lots (asphalt surrounding) or next to buildings (capturing and radiating heat) and, 2) many Siberian weather stations were taken off line (increased average temps because Siberia is relatively cooler than most of the rest of the earth). Gee, do you think these two examples just might increase average temperatures? Of course, you and al couldn’t be expected to do research, but can be expected to lie.

      Climate is cyclical, and humans have not been collecting and recording data long enough to have any conclusions. Global Warming is junk science brought on first by scientist that wanted to receive large amounts of grant monies, and is now backed by politicians and governments that want to collect taxes for this hoax.
