Actress and comedian Roseanne Barr on Thursday became the latest Hollywood celebrity to tweet an address for the man who shot Florida teenager Trayvon Martin after director Spike Lee drew outrage for doing the same.

According to the Smoking Gun, Barr tweeted the home address and phone number of George Zimmerman’s parents to her more than 110,000 followers, only to delete the post “[a]fter not fully understanding that it was private not public.”

The tweet prompted a wave of condemnation from Twitter users, including some who commented, “Really? A home address? One disgusting act of ignorance and violence deserves another?“ and ”Not cool. No matter how you feel about them, they don’t deserve that.”

Barr — who is still running for president of the United States as a member of the Green Party — has been very vocal on Twitter about the Martin case.

“At first I thought it was good to let ppl know that no one can hide anymore,” Barr tweeted after the initial address post. In a separate message, she wrote: “But vigillante-ism is what killed trayvon. I don’t support that.”

Despite the sentiment, Barr appeared to have another change of heart shortly thereafter, when she threatened to retweet the address again if Zimmerman is not arrested.

The address turned out to that of an elderly couple forced to leave their home to escape a storm of hate mail and death threats. After five days, Lee apologized on Twitter for tweeting the couple’s address.

The couple, Elaine and David McClain, told CNN on Thursday they have accepted Lee’s Twitter apology but would like a formal retraction before they can feel safe to return to their home.

      100 % correct, In-sighting violence and putting innocent people in harms way. This nothing but vigilantism. These individuals should be held accountable, and felony convictions if anyone is hurt or worse. Accessory before the fact of a crime. They should also be held liable for damages just for the inciting.
      We are a Nation of laws, even with our corruption in the justice department.

      If your address is in the phone book, it’s already public knowledge. You can’t sue someone for distributing it more widely, no matter what their intentions.

      I only hope the Zimmerman family knows some hungry lawyers who‘ll sue Spike Lee and this blimpoid Rosanne Barr until they haven’t a nickel left. Seriously, the Zimmerman’s can make some money out of this. I hope they’re talking to lawyers about this right now. (P.S. Right on, Geo. Zimmerman – run for office. You’ve got my vote!)

      Agreed, I believe the charge is “Inciting an Incident / riot” which may not carry much of a penalty, but they should ALL be charged and convicted since they are not denying what they did, and they seem to be proud of it.

      The lawsuit against Spikie is 2 million and will probably be setteled out of court. The daughter of the people wrongely set up were afraid for their lives with the dead or alive reward. I’m sure some lawyuer will go after rosie and her big mouth. I can’t believe 100,000 have nothing better to do than kiss up to her.     Who made you police, DA, judge, jury, and executioner?

    Let the law do its job. If Zimmerman chased the young man down and shot him, then let him face justice. If the young man attacked Zimmerman w/o provocation, then let him be. Let the facts be brought forth and speak to guilt or acquittal.

If they really cared, they would be in FLA trying to get the truth out instead of instigating more violence, which neither have the ability to act on themselves.

    What it most disturbing that those advocating the murder of Zimmerman see nothing wrong with it.

    That type of “street justice” mindset has become a part of some cultures and is responsible for the death of so many young people today where if we don’t like a particular outcome through legal means it gives us the right to dispense our own brand of “justice” through a physical confrontation.

    This same mindset is advocated routinely in the terrorists of the Middle East. The KKK has employed it as well. It is expressed in the OWS “movement” when they destroy the property of others, throw things at the police and call them “pigs”.

    This should disturb people regardless of color or creed who believe that we are a nation of laws and not a nation of men.

    I am sure sorry I spent all those hours watching her tv shows. Anyone that would put someone at risk to be hurt or killed by some crazy should be given the same punishment should they try or succeed. This is a case that has to go through court yet on the killing of Martin. Be calm and let justice play out.
