Royal Horse Bucks off Rider, Runs Loose Past William & Kate During Carriage Ride

Even if you got up at 6 am ET to watch the royal wedding, you probably missed the chaos during the couple’s carriage ride to Buckingham Palace. It hasn’t got a lot of press, and was barely noticeable, but there was some equine drama after the “I wills.”

What happened? A rider with the cavalry trailing the carriage was bucked off his horse, leaving the steed to run wild past the carriage and through the street.

The riderless horse can be seen on the left side of the image below:

Royal Horse Bucks off Rider, Runs Loose Past William & Kate During Carriage Ride

From the Daily Mail:

It wouldn’t be a proper wedding if there wasn’t at least one slip-up.

But pity the poor cavalry guardsman who fell from his horse when it spooked at the cheering crowds.

He desperately tried to cling on, but was thrown onto the tarmac as the carriage procession left Westminster Abbey and turned from Parliament Square onto Whitehall.

At first he managed to grab onto the reins and keep his steed to one side, as Kate and William passed by in their open-top 1902 State Landau.

Kate, who is allergic to horses, looked shocked and a little worried, but William calmly reassured her.

It is understood that the animal managed to make its way back to its barracks in Hyde Park by itself.

Neither the horse nor the soldier was injured, although a source said: “The rider’s pride was probably a little bit hurt.”

An Army spokesman said: “As always with these occasions, the noise and excitement can affect the horses.

“Today there was a loose horse following the safe escort of the Queen back to Buckingham Palace but the training and professionalism of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment soldiers ensured the ceremony continued without further incident.

Ironically, the same thing happened during Charles and Diana’s carriage ride after their wedding in 1981.

Cameras did capture, albeit briefly, the ordeal:

Some local British broadcasters share their perspective:

WOW!! THAT’S EXACTLY what I THOUGHT!!! I wish we could teach everyone that there is nothing that replaces CHARACTER, MANNERS and Tradition. I loved this …. It was a few moments of how nice things used to be or could be. NOTHING RULES more than GOOD MANNERS and KINDNESS. NO one in this WHITE HOUSE (and almost NONE of the Politicians) have this attribute!

Are you referring to the last two women out of the cars? I was thinking “dude looks a lady.” The horse had a better gait. Maybe she used the thigh master too long in preparation for the wedding. Or hemorrhoids? Wow.

For those who mock The Royal Wedding…Just remember,

It embodies everything that is good and great in Western Civilization,
    through the Grace of God:

God-loving guidance throughout this Holy Sacrament of Marriage…
between a man and a woman, who are free to choose their own spouse.

Hundreds of years of Western Civilization history and traditions,
music, architecture and art, along with couture and high fashion.

I wonder what the Taliban would think of this event, …and Westminster Abbey?

I didn’t have any plans to watch it either, but when I got up for work and turned on the TV there was Kate getting into the limo from the hotel. So I left it on while I got ready for work, and as I was about to walk out the door they were just going back to sign the marriage license. It was kinda nice to get away from all the normally depressing morning news for awhile. And they both looked remarkably calm and at ease. A bit of a surprise.

I also agree and was thinking the same thing all day today. I am tired of the horror of what this world has become. It was truly a joyous world for a moment. And we aren’t alone. It was reported that 2 billion people watched the wedding. We are all in need of some peace, love and normalcy. I hope they have a long and joyous wedding, blessed with happy healthy beautiful children.

Enicon, Don’t play the Racist bit PAL !! Do you know what Res.511 is ?? That is the Senate resolution confirming that John McCain is a natural born citizen. This was a huge deal for many Liberals at the time, while they spoke and judged in their “SNOOTY” circles, debating with intellectual prowess over this whole thing. Many cases were filed in the courts to challenge McCain as a natural born citizen. Nobody called them “birthers” or racist, no, the exact opposite. They were treated as professionals being legal guardians protecting our democracy. OUr for fathers already agreed.
The society is supposed to desire this, in consequence of what it owes to its own preservation; and it is presumed, as matter of course, that each citizen, on entering into society, reserves to his children the right of becoming members of it. The country of the fathers is therefore that of the children; and these become true citizens merely by their tacit consent. Not like Obama’s case ~ The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens. As the society cannot exist and perpetuate itself otherwise than by the children of the citizens, those children naturally follow the condition of their fathers, and succeed to all their rights.

SO wise up and start looking to history for answers before jumping to conclusions based upon the “mind mush” fed to you by those who you presume are your intellect superiors.
