Rudy Giuliani: I‘m ’Absolutely’ Considering Running in 2012

Here we go. As winter winds down, trees and flowers aren’t the only thing getting ready to come back to life. Also resurrecting are campaign stories. We’ve seen some 2012 presidential talk dot the headlines, but now get ready for a slew of them as Republicans begin the fight for the nomination. Today’s headline? It looks like former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is seriously considering a 2012 run.
Appearing on CNBC’s “The Kudlow Report” with Larry Kudlow, Giuliani did not dodge a question about his 2012 prospects (via Mediaite):
LARRY KUDLOW: ” Will you take a look at 2012, there are lots of rumors in New York City?”
RUDY GIULIANI: “I will take a look at 2012. It’s really a question of, can I play a useful role? Would I have a chance of getting the nomination? Those are things that I’ll have to evaluate as the year goes along.
LARRY KUDLOW: “But the door is open, that’s what I’m hearing from you tonight?”
RUDY GIULIANI: “Yes, yes, Absolutely Larry.”
The admission comes at about 12:00 below:

Posted on January 21, 2011 at 3:39pmBeing a NY’er I can tell you that he is the best Mayor that ever was and probably will be…BUT…in order to survive as Mayor in this liberal paradise he had to make some “concessions”, there are way too many bones that other GOP candidates and the other side will be able to pick on in order to question his conservatism. Part of me could live with this fact but another part of me worries that he actually believes in some of the things he “had” to say and do as NY Mayor. Stay out of it Rudy and use all your gravitas to get a Republican into the White House.

Posted on January 21, 2011 at 3:42pmWe have the point of your lean. Fair enough.
Realistically, though–what more is there about you other than insults and innuendo?
I get you’re liberal. That’s fine–one of my best professors in college was a Marxist. I really enjoyed discussion with him, and we had good times. Well, at least for me.
Back to you–Do you have a genuine coherent argument to make, can YOU persuade others to your point of view? What do YOU have to offer, to make legitimate claim we on the political Right are mistaken?
Persuade me to your view.

There IS no persuading here. I can post a comment or thought minus name calling, insults, etc. but to no avail. There is little(if any) room on this forum for constructive debate. Anybody should notice that after reading 1/2 page on any subject here. Your comment is a prime example. You had a professor who you refer to as a “Marxist”. So, regardless of what I try to say or have to say, it falls on deaf ears. Anyone who voted for Obama is a communist. Anyone who’s a democrat hates this country. Anyone who supports stricter gun laws wants to take your gun away. Anyone who supports the woman’s right to choose is a baby killer. Anyone who promotes green energy is a tree hugger. The list goes on and on and on. So, instead of trying to actually discuss issues rationally, this forum promotes the opposite. I simply try to represent what some liberals might be thinking…but on here, that carries no eight whatsoever. If Joan Rivers makes some idiotic comment, she speaks for all liberals on here. If a disc jockey in Wisconsin does the same thing, same result. It’s pathetic, really. Beck(a so-called man of peace) promotes this site that encourages the exact same attitude that he “says” he denounces yet day after day people are allowed to come on here and spew out anything but constructive debate.

Posted on January 21, 2011 at 4:12pmYou presume…
The professor I mentioned said, on the first day of class, he is/was a Marxist. He said it flat-out. I enjoyed talking with him during class and after; we had interesting debates though I was 18 at the time and he held a PhD. As a matter of detail, he was totally honest in his view. He’s the first and only avowed Marxist I ever heard say the Soviet Union was an oppressive regime. This was in 1976.
What others say here is not a matter. I don’t often talk to liberals directly, but I’m asking of you. Screw everyone else, Right or Left. They aren’t involved.
Persuade me to your point of view.

Posted on January 21, 2011 at 5:34pmMasamune, I agree. Rudy DID do much.
Some of these posts here are just not well thought out. To call him a RINO? C’mon! He never hid his views. He never pretended. He‘s a New York conservative for God’s sake!
I will ALWAYS admire him for standing there next to that Saudi FUD and refusing his million dollar check!
He deserves more credit for the good that he has done than he is getting from many here!
The man turned New York City from a crime infested sewer into the city Frank Sinatra sang about!
Bloomberg has done what? Yeah, thought so, crickets chirping, and it’s freaking winter time!
Look…,I’m not a one man band playing the Guilliani for President tune. But I do know this..,he’d make a hell of an Attorney General. He could head the C.I.A.
He has cahones! This country needs that now. He should be somewhere in the Republican Administration in 2012.

The folks who ran Bush 2 (at least) may be the one‘s that Rudi’s has convinced that he is their man. Bush 2 didn’t cause 9/11, but I believe he and Rudi were complicit. Bush probably had the choice of dying young like JFK or keeping quiet and starting the war machine spending up using Iraq.

Posted on January 22, 2011 at 9:40pmThe GOP is splintered all over the place. In order to win in 2012 we will have to divide the black vote. The only candidate that could accomplish that is Herman Cain. If Obama faces a primary challenge, so matter how feeble it is, and the GOP can offer a black candidate with the credentials and integrity of Mr. Cain, we all just might be able to breathe easier in 2013. But if that happens, it will be critical that we not allow Mr. Obama to exercise any Presidential Decrees during his “Lame Duck” period that would really foul things up.

Sarah Palin, Herman Cain, Mitt Romney and even Donald Trump would all be a lot more viable candidates who would do much more to energize the base and defeat Obama and do that which needs done to get us back on track as a country. I would really like to see a Mitt Romney/Herman Cain ticket that would be awesome. Palin/Bachman would be another interesting and one I would love I am just a bit more hesitant here as the perceived though false negatives on Sarah Palin are fairly high.

Well, at least he knows islam. Unlike some of the RINOS. Like Bush, Christie and co.
He returned islamist money after 9/11 when it was demanded of him to say that our support of Israel makes us part responsible for terrorism.
As in excuuse me?!
He also threw out Arafart from a UN function being held in New York at the Library on 5th. Avenue: “Get that terrorist out of my sight”. Security happily took it from there.
The conflict with islam and recognizing and acknowledging that there is one is vital for any future President.
anything else will get us all killed or at least make the fight more difficult and deadly once enough people realize that conflict can no longer be avoided if we wish to continue to live as Free Societies, both here and abroad.
