Rudy Giuliani on 9/11 Clergy Ban: ‘The Microphone Will Not Melt’ if Religious Leaders Are Included

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani isn‘t keeping mum about his opinions on Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s infamous “clergy ban” at this weekend’s 10th anniversary commemoration of the September 11th attacks.

A few weeks ago, The Blaze reported on the outrage over the decision not to include any religious leaders in this year’s event. Of course, we also reported on the fact that faith leaders have never been involved in the official proceedings.

But considering Bloomberg’s vocal opinion on the so-called Ground Zero mosque and his decision to staunchly defend the steel cross that was recovered from the 9/11 wreckage, his decision to exclude faith leaders on this important anniversary is under fire.

Rudy Giuliani Supports Having Faith Leaders at 9/11 Ground Zero AnniversaryA recent video from Accuracy in Media shows Giuliani holding nothing back in addressing his disagreement with the no-clergy policy. The 2008 presidential contender explained that religion played an immensely important role in helping people deal with the violent terror attacks.

While addressing the National Press Club, Giuliani said that it would be very easy to organize an interfaith coalition of leaders. Getting some laughs from the audience, he quipped, “The microphone will not melt” if religious leaders are invited to participate.

Giuliani‘s words provide fodder to individuals who believe that Bloomberg’s refusal to include the faith community is wrong-headed. Earlier today, we brought you another story out of Washington, D.C., about the exclusion of evangelicals from a 9/11 event at the National Cathedral.

The debate over religious freedom seems to be finding its way into every crevice.

      BIG LIE

      1. ‘I think the thing that distinguishes me on terrorism is, I have more experience dealing with it.’ This pillar of the Giuliani campaign—asserted by pundits as often as it is by the man himself—is based on the idea that Rudy uniquely understands the terror threat because of his background as a prosecutor and as New York’s mayor. In a July appearance at a Maryland synagogue, Giuliani sketched out his counterterrorism biography, a resume that happens to be rooted in falsehood.

“As United States Attorney, I investigated the Leon Klinghoffer murder by Yasir Arafat,” he told the Jewish audience, referring to the infamous 1985 slaying of a wheelchair-bound, 69-year-old New York businessman aboard the Achille Lauro, an Italian ship hijacked off the coast of Egypt by Palestinian extremists. “It’s honestly the reason why I knew so much about Arafat,” says Giuliani. “I knew, in detail, the Americans he murdered. I went over their cases.”

On the contrary, Victoria Toensing, the deputy assistant attorney general at the Justice Department in Washington who filed a criminal complaint in the Lauro investigation, says that no one in Giuliani’s office “was involved at all.” Jay Fischer, the Klinghoffer family attorney who spearheaded a 12-year lawsuit against the PLO, says he “never had any contact” with Giuliani or his office. “It would boggle my mind if anyone in 1985, 1986, 1987, or thereafter conducted an investigation of this case and didn’t call m

AMERICANS, it is time to “man up”. We have got to put our bodies where our mouths are. Be at the National Cathedral with signs… signs that are CHRISTIAN, not political! Quote SCRIPTURE, not our view points or opinions.

Wear clothing that lifts up the name of CHRIST. Stand. Be counted. PRAY ON, AMERICA.

“But HE gives more grace. Therefore HE says, ‘GOD resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble’. Therefore submit to GOD. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to GOD and HE will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners: and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the LORD, and HE will lift you up.” James 4:6-10

GOD bless and protect us all as we stand and fight for our GOD and for our COUNTRY.

Mayor Bloomburg is of the opinion that he has the right and authority to speak for everyone who will and can be assembled for the Memorial to victims families of 9/11. He couldn’t be further from the truth. This is Americans gathering to remember the fallen heroes, to pray, and stand together as a Nation for our greatest tragedy.
First responders HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE THERE AND THEIR FAMILIES, along with the clergy from all different religions that represented the victims. Who is Bloomberg to say otherwise!! He stands with the d_m mosque to be built within the destruction of the Twin Towers and the loss of all the victims and families. Why Mr. Bloomberg, are you so steadfast in having that mosque built within the center of one of the most tragic areas in American history. All that will serve is but a constant reminder of this countries terrorist attackers .

Solution: When the ‘good’ mayor speaks – as we know he will – let all Christians in the audience recite the Lord’s Prayer, let all believers then follow with Psalm 23. Stand up, say it together and force him and other liberals to acknowledge that the majority of people DO have religious beliefs that should be recognized at the memorial services.

Non-believers, atheists and agnostics may respectfully keep silent for the few minutes it will take for the crowd to recite these two items.

There are two services: Capital Cathedral and NYC. It’s the latter that is banning clergy which is funny because its a memorial service. If you don’t believe in God or the soul, then what are you remembering, the person is gone. Put another way, it’s a memorial service, how can you not have clergy there?

In DC the Episcopal of the Cathedral believes that it can represent all of Christianity. That is pretty arrogant considering they are a small minority of a minority faction of Christianity.

No chance the media is hyping this up a bit. “the program was designed in coordination with 9/11 families and included readings that were spiritual and personal in nature. Six moments of silence were planned for personal reflection and prayer. Police and fire chaplains who work with the 9/11 families will attend.”
