Conservative intellectuals like Charles Krauthammer and George Will have not been shy about their disapproval of Sarah Palin as a potentially serious presidential candidate. A new article in the American Thinker wonders why Republicans must bow down to Krauthammer, a former speechwriter for Walter Mondale, and now Rush Limbaugh weighs in and concludes that in today’s media universe nobody, including Krauthammer, is capable of being universally respected.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 6:46amI don’t think that Charles Krauthammer understands what is taking place in this country at the moment. People are tired of lifetime politicians; they are now seeing that absolute power corrupts, absolute. The day of this or that( Republican/democrat) are gone. Both parties have failed America. The Republican Party was formed as a third party and may be replaced by another, if they do not follow what the people who put them there are saying.

They are gatekeepers for entrance into the Holy City of D.C. Might as well throw in A.B. Stoddard who called Sarah Palin a “troublemaker” on Special Report last night.
Unfortunately, they can only allow feeble Mr. Romney into their gated community who blows wherever the wind blows but is so very predictable about doing what he is told.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 5:52amI like Rush because he’s a republican who fights for what he believes in. He does not back down. That said, I also like Krauthammer, who displays some of the same tenacity. Conservatives aren’t afraid to disagree and argue a point, unlike the closed minded left, who will destroy you if you don’t walk in PC lock step. I say let both Rush and Krauthammer have their say. Also, I like Palin, a lot, and I feel Krauthammer is failing to see her true worth. She’s a straight shooter, willing to mix it up with anyone on the left. She‘s about the toughest conservative we’ve got willing to lead, instead of standing aside and observing as too many male conservatives in office are doing. So she’s not as politically astute as many are, but she’s willing to mix it up, and that we conservatives desperately need in our leaders.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 4:44amThere are people whom, even if you don’t agree with them, you should weigh their opinion carefully. In my opinion, Charles Krauthammer is one of those people. No one is infallible and opinions aren’t facts.. But he is intelligent and he has been around for a long time.
Is Sarah Palin still naive, one might even say ignorant, of larger global issues? I don’t know. I hadn’t thought about it as my attention has been focused mostly within our own borders. But its an important question. Whether you think she is or isn’t, it is an important question to answer. How much do you want your president leaning on his or her advisers? On which issues? These are also important questions.
It is important to have these answers regardless of what they are. They are important to having an open discussion. Its okay to have an unpopular opinion. Its better if you can back it up with facts. But just having the discussion is extremely important in a time where anyone who dissents is shouted down or worse.
Whether you agree or disagree with Mr. Krauthammer you should weigh his words carefully because you will almost certainly learn something. Have the discussion. Do the research.

Rush disrespectfully gives his thought/opinion daily and anyone who challenges Rush is attacked by Rush. Rush doesn’t clearly articulate his view and is very very dramatic. Rush, IMO, wants people to bow to him and his thought. He’d rather not debate you but disrespect you unintelligently.

I really like how she is taking charge, sign of a leader, and this drives the MSM nuts as they believe they should be driving the bus. Sarah is telling and showing us right now what we need to know–what is great about America and being American. Also she is bringing the truth of America back. Posted on June 3, 2011 at 7:30am1) Rush has had “wood” for Palin for years…time for him just to admit he’d dump his wife for her if she would only leave her husband.
2) Palin MIGHT make a decent VP…but not up to the job as Prez.
3) Our biggest problem in the world is the M.E. and that situation would explode if a female president attempted to deal with it.
4) Palin’s “breath of fresh air, new ideas, not afraid to shake things up” will be worthless unless the house and the senate are republican controlled. What exactly has Obama done on his own in almost 3 years? Started a war (Libya), named a whole bunch of pathetic czars, gave the “go” order on Bin Ladin…everything else had to go through congress or senate hearings and so on. Which is exactly how the republicans have been stone walling him since the last election. Judging by the lame things many newly elected republicans have done, and even lamer things the Rino’s have done…it is not a sure thing that we will keep the house next go’round…much less take the senate. So, we’d be looking at a minimum of 4 years of gridlock.
5) Palin has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy too much baggage and skeletons in the closet. Not only will her rivals in the primary smear her badly, but if she does somehow get the nomination, Obama’s team will be merciless.
6) Be real…the RNC selects the candidate based on who they will back and who they instruct to endorse her. They like the staus quo and are not going to back a boat rocker.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 7:54amAs governor, Palin demonstrated many of the qualities we expect in our best leaders. She set aside private concerns for the greater good.
She succeeded to a remarkable extent in settling, at least for a time, what had seemed insoluble problems, in the process putting Alaska on a trajectory to financial well-being.
While other states reel under staggering deficits, budget cuts, and protests, Alaska has built up a $12 billion surplus, most of it attributable to Palin’s tax. Galvin estimates that it has raised $8 billion more than Murkowski’s tax would have. But given the corruption that plagued the PPT, a better benchmark might be the tax it supplanted—the one put on the books after the Exxon Valdez spill. By that measure, Palin’s major achievement has probably meant the difference between a $12 billion surplus and a deficit…
On the big issues she left the state in better shape than most people, herself included, seem to realize or want to credit her for.
Palin’s achievement was to pull Alaska out of a dire, corrupt, enduring systemic crisis and return it to fiscal health and prosperity when many people believed that such a thing was impossible

WE THE PEOPLE, however, SHOULD CALCULATE everything on what is best for The U.S.ofA.!
As such, it is reasonable that we come to different conclusions than Krauthammer.
Report Post »He is still worth listening to, though! We always need tactical / strategic analysis.
I’d have him in my cabinet any day!

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 8:56amGeorge Will, Bill Kristol, Carl Rove and Charles Krauthammer try to be king makers for their RINO candidate buddies. They are part of a cabal that always try to take out any serious competition for their RINO buddies. They are part of the reason that Repubs have such a bad record for picking losers as presidential candidates. These days, FOX seems to be part of this cabal. They look down their noses at fly over country folks and operate as Repub candidate gatekeepers where only “properly schooled” candidates need apply. Frankly, we have had enough of their ilk. Just look at where we are and how we got there.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 9:25amI love reading the comments on how Sarah Palin is one of us.
Sarah Palin at one time was one of you, not anymore. Sarah Palin no longer shops at consignment stores. She’s a VIP at Neiman Marcus now.
She was shopping at White Plains NM a couple of nights ago after store hours. (don’t ask me how I know that ). I could care less if Blazers believe it, but it is true.
Nothing wrong with Palin shopping at Neimans, she has every right to do that, but this argument that she is one of you, that went out the window as soon as she sold out. And she did sell out.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 9:31amI saw what Krauthammer said on O’Reilly and he was RIGHT. Palin has a lot of good attributes, but lacks the knowledge of history (i.e. the background) and he pointed this out. Also that she has had the time to educate herself and has chosen not to do so. He’s right on both counts.
Although I agree with her on most topics, she comes off as unintelligent AND her resignation as governor both count against her in my view. Her resume is weak and, after all, that’s a key thing that you look at when hiring someone.
And those of you who are big Palin fans, don’t bother lecturing me about how Obama is less qualified. Dumb argument – we now all know how bad it is to have an incompetent president. That Obama had no business being elected is no excuse. He is a disaster.

You are probably right about Sarah spending a lot of money. What women wouldn’t if they were rich like she has become. She is a star. She did earn it and it is hers to spend. Making (and spending) money is a good thing.
Sarah Palin has been there and done that the same as us. She has a fresh memory of being ordinary and that is a whole lot better than most RINO’s and other 2nd or 3rd generation wealthy folks, some of whom are very fine people. In the end, I doubt she will run because of her past experience with a corrupt media and such RINO luminaries as Carl Rove, Charles Krauthammer, and other gatekeepers like them on FOX.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 10:09amI agree with everything polwatcher said about the RINO cabal except the ‘Fox cabal’ stuff. I don‘t watch Bret Beir’s roundtable if Dr. K and Kristol are there, but I LOVE Steven, Jonah, and Tucker. I will always watch those guys. Kristol is a mini Dr.K wannabe. Come to think of it, when I see Kristol on ANYTHING I quit watching. As for Akmiikus, cut this woman some slack! She has spent the past three years being politically disemboweled and she STILL scares the poop out of the LSM and regular Americans LOVE her guts and tenacity. I know I could not have endured the continuous hammering she takes. She keeps smiling and pushing.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 10:12amIs Krauthammer Jewish? That really doesn’t matter I suppose but it may help provide a little insight on why he offers absolutely no empathy for Sarah Palin. While there’s a lot I like about SP she would simply be another Israeli whore and America already has enough of them.. By the way, AIPAC has already granted her permission to run if she so chooses.. Nice of them I know.
Can‘t we just return to do what’s best for America and focus on returning America once again to a Constitutional Republic?
Seriously it appears that Ron Paul is the only man that will be willing to redirect our attention to the Constitution. Or maybe a Jim DeMint if he decides to run but I believe he’s an Israeli whore too.. I wonder what our Founding Fathers would have thought about all the dual citizens in America today and all of those who hold allegiances to foreign nations?

I agree with your comments. My reference to FOX and the RINO cabal is mainly due to what I see as Roger Ailes gives more authority to his middle managers and they happen to belong to the RINO club. While there are still numerous conservatives on FOX that are not RINO, the leading opinion makers are RINO. FOX is still the only decent channel to get our news but they recently have a RINO accent to them.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 12:04pmMost of the time, Krauthammer is spot on. Lately, he’s been way off base in terms of people like Palin and Beck.
When I see him try to take them apart, he loses his normal hold on substance. It makes me wonder if he’s not too tied to the old Republican leadership.

Posted on June 3, 2011 at 1:42pmI thought Krauthammer’s crticism of Palin was fair and I agree with him. It doesn’t make me like Palin less. I have listened to Rush, but no, I do not any longer. I‘ll catch some clips and talking points but I don’t tune in everyday. IMO, it seems he spends more time being dramatic then articulating his idea and finding solutions. Krauthammer is calm and lays his OPINION in a rational manner, non dramatic. Please notice I think for myself and agree with both and disagree with both OPINIONS on occasion.
Just like Glenn crying everyday now, I personally don’t like that and I honestly see no point in a grown man getting on radio and tv and bawling. I feel he is being dramatic and I personally in my opinion do not like it and see no need for it.
If you do not like my opinion, sorry, don’t read it. Have a great day.

I probably said that backwards.
Rush is dramatic is his articulation where Krauthammer is non dramatic is his articulation is how I should of said it. One end is Rush huffing and puffing and the other end is Krauthammer who could put you to sleep.
That’s what I liked about Glenn before he started crying everyday. He articulated his views pretty clear and with the mix of some drama. He was the in between.
You think Palin is running? I’m not so sure.
Stay safe.

R U KIDDING ME? All Obama (and BUSH) and all his COMMIE CZARS (and creeps like AYERS and DOHRN) SUNSTEIN et al…have are COMMIE-PLANT TEACHERS’ educations…in other words they have been BRAINWASHED by these creeps…. SARAH has the real education. O‘REILLY hasn’t read her books. I also despise how he has treated GLENN BECK… Beck is good natured about it, and maybe, being a woman, I pick up the insults under the breath from O’Reilly…I mean, Glenn says O’Reilly has been a great friend…gees louise…I‘d hate to have him for an enemy if that’s how O’Reilly treats friends… WE need to applaud GLENN and keep supporting him. I’m in hopes that he will have a show on at the same time but on the WEB…it’s going to be very difficult not being inspired by him on a daily basis!!!

Beyond that she and her family has been incessantly and dishonorably attacked by the Progs and their propaganda machine and the paid mercenaries of gossip that they hire and has handled the entire blitzkreig against her with grace, wit and guts. I don’t see any other Republican out there (except for Bachmann) with the same amount of courage, stamina and charm. The Progs have lied about Palin from the beginning. The Republican elites and bluebloods are worried about a third party? The GOP is the third party. I will never vote for Gingrich or Romney. Never, never, never!!!
