Rush Limbaugh ‘Jazzed’ About Mitt Romney VP Pick: Paul Ryan Is ‘Us’

Rush Limbaugh reacted jubilantly to Mitt Romney’s announcement that Paul Ryan would be his running mate during his radio show Monday, saying: “We now have somebody on the ticket who’s us.  [Somebody] who can explain all of this, who believes all of this in his heart, in his soul, and he can do it with optimism and a smile on his face.”

“This pick told me Romney is not just serious about winning, but governing,” he added.

“I like the fact that there‘s somebody that’s going to be on the news every day that can talk like I do.  I don’t mean to make this about me…that’s not the point,” the self-proclaimed doctor of democracy continued.  “We’ve got somebody who can articulate what we believe.  It’s in his heart.  He doesn’t need [notes], he doesn’t need briefings, he doesn’t need a consultant to tell him what to think, or how to answer a question.  He knows it.  He’s lived it.  It’s his soul– that‘s why I’m jazzed.”

Listen to the full remarks, via The Daily Rushbo:

Limbaugh also asserted that putting Paul Ryan on the ticket forces the Obama administration to discuss real issues [transcript via rushlimbaugh.com]:

They can call him extreme and do all that, but they’re going to have to explain why his plan will cause Grandma to be eating dog food.  And when they are forced to explain that, what are they doing?  They are discussing specifics, and they will be lying, which opens up the opportunity for it to be refuted.  And, in the process, that brings Obama’s record to the fore.  The very idea that Ryan will be criticized substantively, they’re going to have to criticize him — look, you’re not gonna be able to get away with making this guy out to be Darth Vader.  They’re not gonna be able to pull that.  They’re gonna try, they are trying, but he is, perhaps, as I said, our last Boy Scout.

Ryan can explain the Bain Capital crap.  Ryan explained it over the weekend.  Bob Schieffer, that 60 Minutes interview, Ryan was chomping at the bit to explain Bain Capital. We have the truth on our side.  Bain Capital, and Ryan said this, saved businesses.  It saved jobs.  We’ve got the greatest opportunity to contrast who we are and what we believe with the demonstrable failure of liberalism, Marxism, socialism, whatever.  We don’t have to tell people what will happen if Obama is elected.  All we have to do is point out what has happened.  But you need the right guy to be able to explain it.  Ryan is the guy.  And I see Romney now even being energized.  Romney had a crowd in Florida, which the conventional wisdom says he can’t win ’cause he picked Ryan. They had such a big crowd in Florida, they had to turn ‘em away ’cause they couldn‘t security screen ’em fast enough, in a state that Romney is guaranteed to lose, if you listen to the right pundits, because he picked Paul Ryan.

Listen to the explanation, also via The Daily Rushbo:

But that doesn’t stop Democrats and the media from labeling Paul Ryan “radical” and “extreme,” Limbaugh noted.

He pointed out: “Here you have Barack Obama, who is a street agitator, a Saul Alinsky disciple, a man who called Jeremiah Wright his spiritual mentor, who never called ‘radical’ or ‘extreme’ by the news media…But Paul Ryan, who may well be the last Boy Scout, who may well be the last Boy Scout — Paul Ryan is called radical and extreme and anathema to women?”

The trouble with Ryan is he does have a senate record – and it stinks. Two minor crappy bills in 13 years? He has no creds. No exec creds, no foreign policy creds. He’s running on NOTHING,

Limbaugh shakes his pom-poms for a Republican Party controlled by globalist elites who are as great a threat to American sovereignty as the communist left. Beck tells me that the pursuit of virtue is somehow a legitimate response to those who threaten my country in their pursuit of unconstitutional power. I say that if someone is trying to put an ice pick in my nuts, virtue is using the baseball bat in my hands.

They sent their stooges around the country to convince us that it was a good idea, and all the grouchy old pharts woke up and saw the death panels coming long before Sarah Palin put it into words. And they said “Hell, no! Get that socialist crap out of our faces! And come November, YOU’RE FIRED for even voting for it!” When the younger folks saw how upset our parents and grandparents were, we got into the act. And the rest, as you know, is history.

Come on, Rush is jazzed because Ryan is a Republican. Heck, he was jazzed when Romney “won” enough delegates for the nomination. He was jazzed when John McCain was nominated.

And the part of the article that says “…it’s not about me (Rush).” What? Don’t fool yourselves. For Rush, it’s always about Rush. And secondarily, it’s about the Republican party. But what it’s never about is our Republic, the American people, or the Constitution unless one or more of those just happen to fall in line with the first two criterion.

Ryans proposal doesn’t balance the budget until 2050, or sometime pretty close to that. And Rush is jazzed. Great! Show me something that’s balanced by 2014 and maybe I will get jazzed. The Republican party has been dying a slow death over the past few decades. Each candidate progressively worse. Reagan, Bush I, Dole, Bush II, and McCain. If the Republican Party was a baseball team that lineup would give new meaning to Murderers Row. It‘s not killing the opponent it’s killing us and the Republic.

Now the R’s are actively committing suicide with the Romney nomination. Let’s hope the Democrats do the same and maybe, then, the American people can start the project of rebuilding. Peace.

It‘s not that Paul Ryan can’t articulate conservatism well, he can and his willingness to make some cuts is a start. It‘s I don’t want all these BS anti-terrorism laws to be permanant. I want my rights back, and can‘t believe there’s not one of these yahoos that doesn’t feel the same way, other than Alex Jones and well he doesn’t have the same audience. What the hell is going on with these folks? @Willy, Yes I know that everything is a conspiracy with Ales Jones. Some of his stuff is good, but man, you really have to dig deep and verify EVERYTHING he says to feel any type of confidence in it. That’s kind of my point. We don’t really have anyone objective speaking out about these things since the Judge and GB left Fox. And GB really isn’t all that objective anymore either. I mean Stossel is good at government waste.

All Republicans/Conservatives and Romney/Ryan supporters bad

      Yes we’ve got it.

I heard this rumor today here in Tampa (from a very good source btw) that Most Ron Paul supporters are actually pulling the trigger for Obama this go ’round (not just the thousands that did in ‘08)… but almost the whole enchilada this time around? The word is apparently circulating among Paul parrots. Now THAT IS hatred for the Republican Party… WOW!

I’m pretty much leaning in the direction that the rumor is true.

Of course all those CFR folks, like Soros, are just looking out for us in their closed door secret meetings. I mean a Wilsonian think tank has to be on the level, right? And they‘d never discuss our nation’s policies or anything like that. Pfft! Just think ALL of our media is owned by a few people with CFR membership. Reckon that explains the media blackout of RP? …nah can’t be. These globalist pigs have us by the balls.

@Time2, Yeah I hate the Republican Party badly because of their actions during the primary. I’m not seeing anyone organizing a mass vote for Obama though on any of our sites. People are just saying they’ll write in Paul or will vote Gary Johnson. I‘d prefer the banded together and voted for the Constitutional Party candidate because I’m not really a true Libertarian, but we’ll see how it goes and who gets the endorsements after the convention. I know for sure that I won‘t be voting GOP until it’s purged of all the Neoconservative criminals that rigged the primaries and they return to their pinciples of limited government. Oh, I take back. There are a few that say they‘ll vote for Obama because Romney’s no different except for a more agressive foreign policy. It’s certainly not an organized effort within the Liberty Movement htough.

      @time-2,

I don’t think you do “got it”. Seriously, your a vet and you know we took an path to defend the constitution no matter what. I take that VERY seriously. I can‘t vote for a dude that doesn’t. You’d rather lash out at some guy you hate (Ron Paul) than engage in a real debate. How do you reconcile a vote for a POTUS that doesn’t support the 2nd amendment? He patterned obamacare for Petes sake. The veep is a MESS when it comes to the constitution. Neither seems to care much for the fourth or tenth amendment.

How can you swear an oath to the constitution and be so naststy to someone who will not compromise on their oath while you rationalize away yours? You never say anything I post is wrong…just for me to go away. Of I’m not wrong then how can voting for these two be right? Would the signers of the DOI vote for these two? Would those that ratified the constitution vote for these two? Would the guys who died at valley forge have voted for these two? Not, over Obama, that’s not it. Yea they are the lesser of two evils. But, they are still evil.

      @TIME AND JUST

Just I agree with you. I was at two local rallies this weekend. One was in the Ocala area and the other up near Tallahassee. They were both local/regional tea party rallies. If there were any national Tea Party folks there I didn’t see them and they were definitely not on the stages.

I talked to quite a few folks. A lot of the talks were about local and state elections because our primary is tomorrow, but I also talked to a lot of folks about the Presidential race.

Very, very, very few said they would vote for Obama. Only 2, as best I can remember. A few are leaning Romney. More than that are leaning Goode. More than that are leaning RP write in. And the largest number are leaning Johnson right now.

I think Time is blowing smoke; no disrespect intended. His info could be correct and the result of regional differences. The Tampa/Clearwater/St.Pete area is demographically different from North Central Florida or the panhandle. Peace.

‘BARDIAN. I debated your betters long before you came on the scene and see it as an absolute waste of my energy.

You like the circle-jerk of meaningless debate at this late date because you have nothing left… an exercise in futility at this point on your part. Nobody is buying your anti-Republican/Conservative song and dance.

You’re done, Paul’s done… but as an agitator, an insurgent, you must continually poke your fingers in the eyes of Republicans/Conservatives, anyone who had a candidate that wasn’t Ron Paul (or at this point Johnson) and anyone who will vote for Romney/Ryan come November.

You can play ROTHBARDIAN poster child here and debate until the cows come home, but in the end only game in town that matters is Romney and Ryan and those that will vote for Obama. You and your ilk being the latter.

You want to debate someone at this point? Darg your @ss over to HuffPo. Thing is though…. you’d be welcomed their like a brother in arms… and THAT wouldn’t be any fun now would it? Naw, you’ll stay here… and so will I… well, until the Convention is over. Then I move on and leave you Ron Paul snake-oil salesman and get on with the bigger picture like the rest of the Conservative heavy-lifters in America will be doing.

I’m just telling you and Just what I heard, and sensed from the sentiment of the two rallies that I was at this weekend. You might be right, but I hope you are not. If there is a move that was orchestrated by RP to vote for Obama, just to spite the R’s, I would be one of the first to stand up and call BS on RP. It’s hard for me to believe he would do it, but I won‘t say it’s impossible that he, or his campaign, did.

I wouldn’t let RP tell me what to do with my vote any more than I would let any party, person, or other candidate tell me how to vote. If you do discover a basis for the allegation I would sincerely like to know about it.

You and I disagree on many things, but I don’t see you as an enemy. You are a Patriot from what I can tell. You love our Republic, and our Constitution. We, you and I, just go about, and see, things a bit differently. Please let me know if you uncover anything. Peace.

*joined the International Affairs division of the U.S. Treasury Department in 1988.
*an attaché at the Embassy of the United States in Tokyo.

*senior deputy assistant secretary for international affairs (1996–1997).
*assistant secretary for international affairs (1997–1998).
*Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs (1998–2001).
*left the Treasury to join the Council on Foreign Relations as a Senior Fellow in the International Economics department.
*director of the Policy Development and Review Department (2001–2003) at the International Monetary Fund.
**October 2003, at age 42,he was named president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
*As President of the New York Fed, he served as Vice Chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee.
*In 2006, he also became a member of the Washington-based financial advisory body, the Group of Thirty.
*During the 2008 Presidential election, Geithner was one of three people tipped to be nominated for Treasury Secretary regardless of whether John McCain or Barack Obama won.

I’m going to take this a step at a time.
You state: Rush Limbaugh agrees with FoxNews Charles Krauthammer

I say: I believe that. They both have a product to sell, in this case that the Romney/Ryan ticket is awesome and will prevail. Given that both of these very intelligent men who also happen to be similarly aligned in their party ideology agree isn’t a surprise. I would daresay that Hitler and Stalin would have agreed on many things, except that Hitler decided to invade Russia.

You say: the debate has shifted from Obama attacking with no substance to a debate about ideals,

I say: If you think the unsubstantiated attacks in this campaign are now miraculously over I think you should rethink that position. It will continue, it will ramp up in intensity, and both sides will use it. This election is going to be a bare knuckle, down and dirty dog fight. Neither will it be about ideals, not the ideals of the Constitution or the founders anyway. These candidates, all of them on both sides, will make great speeches and I’m betting they will trot out every Constitutional reference they can. But what this is about is the same thing every election in my lifetime has been about. Which party can win and then best feather their own nest. Neither side cares anything about the Republic, it’s survival or the American people.

You say: [See the movie, "2016: Obama's America] vs Founding Fathers and Conservatism.

I say: I read to understand the Constitution. P

Cook, if you choose to make it a simple dichotomy then I have to agree with you. Ryan is much better than Obama. However it’s not a dichotomy. There are a number of alternatives in most states, and of course, there is always the write in option in any state.

There are a few small problems with your analysis. First, Ryan is not at the top of the R ticket. So to compare him to Obama does two things. It denigrates your top guy, Governor Romney. It also opens the door for someone, like me, to argue “how can you consider any VP candidate equal to the opposing Presidential candidate”? The VP candidate, on any slate, has never changed my vote. But I can’t speak for all independents.

The next problem is your observation the Ryan is an American. President Obama is an American too. So asserting that Paul Ryan is an American does not raise even one degree of separation between the two. Sorry, amigo.

Win the indies, the libertarians, the constitutionalists and you may have a slim chance. If you don’t, then get ready to strap yourself in for a rough ride. Sorry, but da facts is da facts. Peace.
