Rush: Obama’s Organizing for America Funneling Protesters Into Wisconsin

As Wisconsin union workers continue to protest Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s budget proposal, Organizing for America — the Democratic National Committee’s campaign arm housed at BarackObama.com — is “mobilizing to defend Wisconsin‘s public employees’ right to organize.”
During his Wednesday broadcast, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh condemned the outspoken protesters for shutting down the work of democratically elected representatives doing the “people’s business.”
Building on the momentum in Wisconsin, OFA has also started to mobilize its army of followers in Ohio and Indiana where measures similar to Gov. Walker’s are taking shape.
On Thursday, an estimated crowd of more than 1,000 descended on the Ohio statehouse in Columbus to march in favor of state workers’ collective-bargaining privileges. According to one report from the Huffington Post, organizing efforts in Ohio are “about a week behind that in Wisconsin.”
A DNC staffer told The Huffington Post that the group upped its efforts in Wisconsin after Chairman Tim Kaine spoke with local legislators last week. OFA then began organizing turnout for Thursday’s statehouse rally and running phone banks in Ohio targeting state senators, which are slated to continue next week. This weekend, organizers have set up door-to-door canvassing in key districts that they hope will likewise put pressure on swing lawmakers.
OFA National Deputy Director Jeremy Bird said volunteers first alerted the group to the contested Ohio legislation. “The energy is pretty remarkable,” he told The Huffington Post. “People started to contact us, and they’d call our office and our volunteers, and say, ‘This is a big deal. This is going to affect my family.’ … That started to really simmer earlier this week in Ohio, and it’s starting to pick up the pace.”
In Ohio, major labor unions including AFSCME and the AFL-CIO are also stepping up the pressure against Gov. John Kasich (R) and the bill’s supporters. The AFL-CIO estimated that tens of thousands of phone calls, emails and handwritten postcards have been delivered to state senators in opposition to the legislation, and a spokesman said the protests will continue in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, El Rushbo is praising Gov. Walker for standing firm in the face of powerful special interest groups looking to shut his proposal down.

What we do begrudge them is their rolls royce pensions and health benefits that we, the taxpayers, have to pay for and they do not. We begrudge them sitting home on their asses while they are laid off and making more money on unemployment than they make working (and I know this to be a fact)! Everyone has to tighten the belt, but they feel that they should be exempt from that. No, no, that won’t do here. Not anymore. They are no better than the rest of us just because they pay union dues. If you’re okay with them pilfering from you for their benefits, then you are either independently wealthy or you are just plain ignorant.

If the Union goes in my company my salary will certainly be lower. Unions as a whole are not a bad thing for there is and will be stability and rules that all must abide by. Its when they abuse the power that hurts everyone. They have been wrong in many ways. In many ways they have been right. I have seen open shop employees being used and abused by companies because there isn’t a union to protect the worker. I have also seen where employees benefit greater because Unions aren’t involved and management teams take care of them. Its all circumstantial.

It is like the fight that Mararet Thatcher had with the coal miners union about thirty years ago. It was a hellish battle but the union eventually lost and Britain and its economy was vastly improved because of it.
The teachers union is at best, dishonest and apallingly self-interested, and at worst, deliberately politically destructive. In both cases, the victims are their students and the taxpayer.
If Wisconsin does not stick to its guns and win this fight, then another state will have a much greater battle on its hands further down the track.

I think it may be time to get some counter protesters out in the middle of things. States and Washington need to DEMAND immediate balanced budgets. There is zero reason that Washington could not roll back to 2006-8 budgetary figures, then go in and raise the ages for S.S. recipients to more closely reflect the growth in life expectancy. Change it so naturalized citizens and anchor babies need to have lived here a specific amount of time to qualify for benefits. Get a hold of our borders so illegals stop bankrupting border hospitals and entitlement programs, which also helps solve the health care/insurance cost issue. Many of the knuckle draggers in Washington WANT America to fail and they have it on the POTUS’s high speed rail headed that way in a hurry! The Blaze article about the $50K salary is an analogy I have been using with friends for a couple years now (only with slightly larger numbers). It makes it easy to understand for even a far left liberal. Most of our citizens have lost track of the fact that “IT IS NOT WASHINGTON’s MONEY”! They will find a way to spend whatever they collect, and MORE! This B.S. of saving x number of dollars over the next 10 years is the same smoke and mirrors that both parties have used for far too long. Look at the gain in population in the last 30-50 years and the increase in “manpower” that the government employs, similarly with the percentage of individuals on entitlement programs outside of retirees on S.S. Compare the percentages and it is staggering! Meanwhile our kids score in the bottom 10% in testing of all industrialized nations. It is sad to watch the intentional destruction of the U.S.!

He is only taking bargaining for benefits off of the table, the bill would still allow them to bargain for more money. These idiots have no idea what they are protesting and President Obama is wrong on his view and stance of what is going on and once again has put foot in mouth. I am tired of public sector unions and want them all disbanded. If AFL-CIO wants to unionize every single worker in Walmart so be it……but they shouldn’t be allowed to do it with Uncle Sam-bots. Jobs are created by, owned by, and controlled by the company, not the employee. Public sector employees elect their management and are protected far better than private sector employees by Civil Service laws.
Since Unions have destroyed the productivity that made American industry the most competitive, driving the high-paying labor jobs elsewhere, now they are focused on the public sector where they can convert union dues to political graft and steal not only from union members, but all taxpayers. There is no justification, and should be no tolerance of public sector unions.
As for Lincoln, he was a conniving, manipulative, tyrant who violated the COTUS at every turn for his personal objectives: Ft. Sumter was a tax office, not a slave market; the people are pre-eminent in the US, not the federal government, but Lincoln changed that. Those who financially benefit from tyrannical federal government are the ones who have Lionized Lincoln despite the realities of history.

Clearly you need to improve your reading comprehension. As others have pointed out, Lincoln did not mean what you think he meant. Let’s see if I can make it simple for a liberal:
labor = work, job, task, etc…
In other words, labor is something that liberals are allergic to. Liberals somehow believe they have a right to the fruit (capital) of someone elses labor. They have no sense of individual responsibility. Maybe this quote from Lincoln will turn that little mercury filled “green” lightbulb on in your head and give you a better idea of his mindset:
“Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another, but let him work diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built.”

Posted on February 18, 2011 at 6:39pmLike many other posts, this one, too, lacks context: this is a statement about the individual and the fruits of labor, not an endorsement of the superiority of labor, as in labor (plural) possessing superiority (greater importance) than capital.
The reason labor requires more consideration is because without the effort of an individual, there is no capital available to create jobs.
Points for consideration are changes in language arts and diction that affect our interpretation of the words used by prior generations.

Pulling a few words out of a speech from Lincoln to make a point for his support of big labor with no context of the overall message is like saying “eat drink and be merry” gives us license to live as we please with no consequences.

Having proceeded so far, it is naturally concluded that all laborers are either hired laborers or what we call slaves. Now, there is no such relation between capital and labor as here assumed
. . . . Labor is prior to and independent of capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration. Capital has its rights, which are as worthy of protection as any other rights”
Lincoln was not establishing some grand, socialist metaphor arguing that employers are inferior to superior laborers. He was saying, as any self-made man would, effort is what creates wealth. It is not wealth that creates effort.
So, get out there, stop whining about those that are successful, and make your own way in the world.
