Rush on Gingrich’s Immigration Remarks: ‘Romney Went Further Four Years Ago’

Rush on Gingrich Immigration Remarks:Mitt Romney Went Further

Conservative radio-host Rush Limbaugh has joined several conservative commentators and politicians in the fallout following GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich‘s remarks in regards to immigration during Tuesday’s CNN debate. The chatter in political media today has focused  on Newt’s unexpected immigration proposal, which would allow illegal immigrants who have been in the U.S. for extended periods to obtain a legal status, though not full-scale citizenship.

“If you’ve been here 25 years and you got three kids and two grandkids, you’ve been paying taxes and obeying the law, you belong to a local church, I don‘t think we’re going to separate you from your family, uproot you forcefully and kick you out,” Gingrich said Tuesday night.

Rush opened his popular radio show today by discussing Gingrich’s remarks, and while calling the timing odd and details impractical, Limbaugh was still able to identify another candidate with a more questionable stance on immigration than the former speaker:

“Newt’s position on illegal aliens, it was a little odd, and I’ll tell you why,” Limbaugh started. “It came outta nowhere. He had not built a foundation for it. This was the first that we had heard of it last night, and that’s not how major policy positions are adopted.”

Limbaugh continued:

“Now, I understand what he’s saying about somebody here with roots and family and all that, been here for a long period of time. But how exactly would this work? What if somebody’s been here not 25 years but 22? What if somebody’s been here 20, 17? Pick a number less than 25 but longer than five. What’s the cutoff here? He said 25 years. What if it’s 14? What if it’s 13? What if they don’t have a family but they have been hardworking and tax paying for 24 years? Just because somebody is here 25 years does not mean that they have assimilated into our society. It doesn’t necessarily mean that. They could be rabble-rousing for La Raza out there for 24 of the 25 years. Do they have to speak English, for example? What is the test here to determine that they have assimilated into our distinct American culture?

This is a bold proposal. There’s no question. But it was snuck in there, a bold proposal that trickled into the debate. Now, this is just me. You might disagree with me, I doubt it, few of you ever do, but you might disagree with me here. If you want something like this be accepted by the public, I don’t think that you just throw it out there”

“[....]”

“I’m just having an off the top of my head reaction to this. As I say, I understand what Newt’s saying. I understand the thinking that goes into this. I’m simply talking about if you really believe this, if you want this to be policy, throwing it out there like this, it’s turning itself into a big, big target now.”

“[....]”

“But we have found here, ladies and gentlemen, via YouTube — this might surprise some of you — Mitt Romney back in 2007, he was on Meet the Press, 2007. ‘My own view is consistent with what you saw in the Lowell Sun”‘– the newspaper — ‘that those people who have come here illegally and are in the country, the 12 million or so that are here illegally should be able to sign up for permanent residency or citizenship.’ So Romney said the same thing in 2007 but he did it on Meet the Press.”

“[...]”

“In truth, folks — and we just played the audio – Mitt Romney went further four years ago than Newt did last night. Romney talked about citizenship for them. Newt’s the one taking the heavy fire today, but Romney mentioned citizenship on Meet the Press in 2007.”

The “heavy fire” Rush is speaking of has been prevalent in the discussions on cable news programs Wednesday, as well as in several statements from other politicians.

POLITICO reports that fellow GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has “doubled down on her claim that Newt Gingrich wants to offer blanket immunity to all undocumented immigrants currently living in the U.S.”

“He’s saying that all people who are here as illegal workers would be given that status, that’s over 11 million people who are here,” Bachmann said (on Fox News,)

When pressed that Gingrich had explained his position would only apply to those who had been here for ‘decades,’ Bachmann said his previous remarks have indicated he supports blanket amnesty.

‘That would be a contradiction of the statement that the speaker made earlier,’ she said. ‘That’s two different statements that the speaker is making.’”

The Hill reports on influential Iowa Congressman Steve King’s denunciation of Gingrich’s remarks:

“’I think if Speaker Gingrich had that to do over again, he might couch his language a little differently at a minimum. I wouldn’t agree with him on that policy,’ King said. ‘I think that when you give people even a promise that they can stay in the country after they’re here illegally you become more of a magnet and it is a form of amnesty and more people will come in counting on that.”

King told O.Kay Henderson that the immigration remarks “makes it harder” to support Gingrich.

Slate speculated that the remarks, and how Gingrich has defended them following the debate, “might remind people why Gingrich might not be a safe bet: He has a lot of ideas, and when he thinks he’s right, there’s no persuading him.”

Gingrich has swung back some of the heat directed at him to Mitt Romney. Tweeting directly to Romney today in regards to the 2007 Meet the Press statements on immigration, Newt quips “Here’s a trip down memory lane,”  followed by “So what’s your position on citizenship for illegals again? (I oppose it.)”

The Washington Post reports that the Obama campaign “never misses an opportunity to portray Romney as inconsistent,” and held a conference call today to denounce Mitt’s immigration stance following Tuesday’s debate. The Post notes that the jump on Romney puts “the Democratic officials in the odd position of virtually endorsing Gingrich on the issue.”

We will keep an eye on how immigration issues develop in the GOP primary.

Every time Rush Limbaugh talks about Romney, it always end in an attack on the candidate. Every time. When he said his adviser consulted with Obama, that was a lie. When he called him a flip-flopper, come to find out that was a lie. Now this attack on Romney saying that he wants citizenship for illegals is off the wall.

Rush Limbaugh played the liberal tactic of playing only a small snipet of the quote and not the whole thing. Here is the whole clip from meet the press: http://www.thedailycandidate.com/projects/nov/immigration/immigration_meet_press2.html

Romney has always been a strong borders guy, look back at the debate he had with Ted Kennedy in 1994. He was stronger then than most candidates are today.

I was waiting for Newt’s position on the immigration issue, but did not expect that! He is a smart guy, and would do well against Obama in a debate, IMO. However, if he thinks illegals should be made American citizens, he is nuts.
Now, for me, its down to Santorum and Bachmann. Paul just ‘acts’ goofy. Though I agree with his support of the Constitution, and though I’m definitely for abiding by it, the world has changed. The Constitution is great for domestic issues, just as it is.
Only Congress should have power to declare war, but we do need to have some kind of presence around the world, and that may mean (other than a declaration of war) not following the Constitution to the letter.
Think about it……..the founders could not POSSIBLY have imagined the world as it is today.

Gingrich made a fool of himself trying to put this same quote out on twitter. This will hurt him in the long run. Many may not know it but Romney implemented the Arizona immigration law in Massachusetts before Arizona did.

I know a guy who was born in El Paso and his mom left him there as she went back to Mexico. There’s no record of his birth and that was 30 years ago. His kids today only know English and American culture. Pays taxes and health care. Do we send he and his family back to Mexico? If I had a family in Mexico where my town had reported 40,000 murders in 3 years I’d look for a way out too.

Folks, Gingrich doesn’t care about our AMERICAN FAMILY. To work here 25 years and not be a LEGAL citizen is 25 years of illegal behavior. What part of illegal does everybody not get??? Enough is enough…I don’t care if they have kids and or grandkids…they broke the law…period…nuff said. OBEY THE LAW OF THE LAND…oh yeah, and by the way….do they assimilate….NOT!!! we bend to meet their needs. We pay taxes for programs to educate, feed them and give them healthcare while millions of Americans, hardworking, tax paying, legal Americans, don’t have healthcare BECAUSE THEY CAN”T AFFORD IT!!!!

I am on the IRS radar and I cannot hide. When I bid a job, I am instantly 30% behind before I ever put my pencil to paper.

Why to vote for Ron Paul. A true Patriot, Constitutionalist, and a founding fathers’ best friend for the 21st century.

    * A pro-energy candidate – Remove restrictions on drilling, repeal the federal tax on gasoline, lift government roadblocks, eliminate the ineffective EPA, make tax credits available for the purchase and production of alternative fuel technologies, etc.
    * Common sense immigration reforms – Enforce border security, no amnesty, abolish the welfare state, end birthright citizenship, protect lawful immigrants, etc.
    * Keep more of your money – The repeal of the 16th amendment, implementation of flat or fair tax, eliminating taxes on tips, etc.
    * End the Fed
    * A pro-America foreign policy – Secure our borders, avoid long and expensive land wars, eliminate the Patriot Act, end US nation building, follow the Constitution before war is waged, only send our military into conflict with a clear mission and all the tools they need to complete the job and then bring them home, etc.

Above is just some of what Ron Paul stands for. Please take the time to view his website, his stance on the issues, and his “Plan to Restore America”. ronpaul2012.com

Ron Paul is OK with a Nuclear armed Iran, HIS WORDS
He is OK with radicals that have been state sponsors of terrorism for decades having a nuclear capability.
A regime willing to cause chaos and bloodshed on a massive scale to bring their promised 12th Imam.

No Thanks, that is just too foolish for me. If I could have a DOMESTIC only candidate, Ron Paul could be acceptable, but when our national threats come into play, he is dangerously naive at best.

I’m about as prepared for that as I can be, with neighbors and training and weapons. As a back-up I have acreage in a very well protected rural area, and the means to get there without stopping if needed. But the infiltration of terrorists who are not just street thugs, but religious nuts trained to die for a cause, and with real powerful weapons coming in, THAT is a bigger danger overall. Iran is serious about taking out the little and great Satan as they see it, and that is us. We may think they are not a threat, but we do so at our peril, they are a threat, and they are serious. We are being set up for an attack that will make 9/11 and Pearl Harbor look insignificant. After that, those thugs will roam and be a threat as well, likely a double threat if you will and many are so asleep as to what is going on, but the information is out there if one wants to put the dots together the picture is quite clear…

Together they are over $130,000,000,000,000.00 (That is Trillion dollars)!!! If we continue to borrow money to police the world, we will fall economically and then what?? Were done, were done!! Let’s just worry about everyone else in the world and spend ourselves into a situation where, what?, we may need their help?? Get real people. All I heard from the last debate was we gotta keep our military fighting all over the world, for what?? To protect our interests until we fall as a country? It is absolutely insane that all of you think that we are going to be saved by continuing to go into debt even further. ??????????????!!!!

Stay away from Ron Paul. He is an isolationist, a believer in the Monroe Doctrine at a time where such a belief will hurt this country in a big way. Way back in the 18th century you could afford to cut yourself off from the rest of the world and not have a military presence in certain places but no more. Ron Paul does not have the stomach to face the enemy and call it what it is. Let Iran have the bomb, stay out of Syria, don’t worry about al Qaeda, so what if Israel is attacked? All of that is “not our problem”.

Wrong, Ron. It is very much our problem. Since it is you and your children they want to kill, it is very much our problem. Stay away from this pacifist. I don‘t want anyone quarterbacking the government of my country who won’t even admit we’re at war.

Riseliberty, You are another that has the wrong name for yourself. Using a word like isolationist tells me that you get all your ideas from the media. That is being a brainless follower of the establishment. Paul is the only one that believes in getting Individual Liberty back that has been eroded from Progressive policies over the last century. His ideas are Constitutional, which I can only guess that you know nothing about. Get a copy of the Constitution and READ IT. Read the Federalist Papers, if it is not too complex for you. The greatest threat to us is our economy. If we do not get a handle on it, we are done, you are done, your children and grandchildren will suffer greatly, and you and people like you will be responsible for that. Hope you are strong enough to get through those times with the regret that you will surely have for continuing to stay asleep.

Wrong, Ron is Non interventionist. You seem to support Barack Obama’s intervention for “humanitarian” reasons. That by definition is progressive. Ron Paul understands the enemy quite well and why they attack us. You do not. So that you know, they attack not because how we live here but how we act there. That is fact, look to the intelligence community and they will tell you the same.

The best foreign policy is defense, not offense. They want to kill your children because we have troops stomping around on their land. Would you want to kill Arab children if they had armies stomping around here and spreading their way of life here? Be honest…..Do unto others as you want them to do to you….

The only pacifist would be YOU because you are too scared to face the true problem, aggressive foreign policy.

      @Clara

Wrong. Ron understands what caused jihad to begin and to continue the same actions that started the jihads would be crazy!

Only PRGRESSIVES believe the USA controls the world. We have no say over any other country. If your advocating that, you are advocating a progressive foreign policy and the very policy that will enable them to control the world as shown by Glenn Beck! Wake up!

Hey Welfare State guy? Who’s your choice? Bachmann? Cain? Santorum? They lose by 10 points in the general. Then who’ve you got? And yes, I am bailing myself out. Newt doesn’t support the bailouts. I’m actually happy he got some of that stimulus cash for himself from Freddie. Good for him. It can help fund his campaign. Again, the rush to destroy the smartest man. And for what? All of these candidates (maybe minus Cain) have taken PAC money and have had to raise money using this corrupt system that is still the best in the world. Ronald Reagan got tons of PAC money. I liked him. He was a great president. Newt got most of his cues from Reagan, Goldwater and Jack Kemp. If you want to fix the economy, that’s good company to have kept. The illegal thing is secondary on my radar screen. There is an unhealthy perception of xenophobia mixed in with this idea that all illegal immigrants are thugs. Yes, I get the word illegal. But if I were a Mexican citizen, and my life sucked, I’d try to reach the border too. And what we’re really talking about are the anchor babies. You have to change that law if you don’t like it. Newt is talking about people who’ve been here for a generation. The dirty secret is that these illegals do pay taxes (sales, gas, meals, etc.) and they aren’t all terrorists. Yeah, lets piss off the Latino vote again and lose them all to Obama after we scream and yell that grandpa Perez has to hike it back to Mexico. There’s a winning strategy.

Bailingmyselfout, I worked years on the illegal immigration issue. It is not as clear cut as some people want to think. The economic fallout for states, counties, cities that have a large population of illegals is astronomical! Allowing people into our country who do not want to assimilate is tearing our country apart. The whole amnesty issue, ANY part of it is wrong. People who want to become AMERICANS will want to go about it legally. Big difference that people are not taking into account.

There are many ways to correct this problem without “throwing all the bums out” that would have them returning to own “COUNTRIES”. One being the anchor baby problem – a law that instigates lawlessness REALLY?!!!! Welfare for illegals – this is just plain moronic. Try being a US citizen attempting to get help and have the illegals put in front of you. Oh well I could go on and on, spent too many years on this issue. But no vote for any candidate that even hints at amnesty from me.

If the money isn’t enough then his cronies will just steal the election. The best Republicans can hope for is to control both houses of Congress and limit the damage, then elect Palin in 2016.

More favorites now are Jerry Doyle & Glenn in that order. But I usually listen 2 one of 2 talk show host I can get whenever I am in a car. There are so many of them that you can’t shut them all up SENSELESS.

That said,up until @ yrs. ago I contracted for a company who would FLY Mexican illegals from Reno to Iowa to work construction…The son-in-law was from Reno-he said he could’nt find workers…not true,he wanted Cheap labor-he’d put up 10/15 in motel rooms…until e-verify. I think this would go a long way to root out the masses embeded in this country. And get rid of the anchor babies law…this would stop the Non-citizens that come here on I kid you not: Luxery vacations, like tours-serious-just to have duel citizenship…set up in spas, hotels, etc. And I know a lot of mexicans (legal) do NOT want amnesty for the illegals.

Today was the first day in a long time that Glenn and Pat kinda ticked me off. Gingrich gave a detailed, nuanced answer to a difficult question. The borders aren’t our problem right now. The illegal traffic has slowed to a crawl. Newt and Rick Perry both believe that we can’t just deport 11 million people. We can take care of the ones who are here causing trouble first. But before you can do anything, you need to secure the border. This rush to idealogical purity is asinine. Yeah, lets get Bachmann or Santorum and watch Obama win by 10 points. Newt can defend his positions, his past and his character better than anyone else in this race. What I find interesting is that every time we coalesce around a candidate, the left and the right work to break it up. Cain is a womanizer. Perry is stupid. Bachmann is a lightweight. Paul is crazy. Santorum can’t win. Mitt is too slick. Huntsman is a democrat. This is a pretty strong field. But Newt is best on the issues. Yeah, S.E. Cupp, he acted stupidly in the 1990′s. But he’s asked God and the rest of us for forgiveness. Which means what? We can’t forgive him because we have “higher standards”? Well you know what? You’ve killed the aspirations of thousands of regular folks thinking that their past eliminates them from contention. Newt for president…at least until he’s rendered helpless by those on the astro-right looking for Barry Goldwater and George Washington all rolled into one. Good luck with that.

You’re screen name is “Bailedmyselfout,” but you like a big government statist like Gingrich who supported TARP and Keynesian/socialist stimulus. Cognitive dissonance?

There is a dime’s worth of difference between Cain, Romney, Gingrich, and Obama. They all have the same Wilsonian foreign policy of empire, “making the world safe for democracy,” interventionism, propping up tyrants, foreign-aid, etc.

They all like the same unconstitutional monetary system. For some reason pretend free marketeers liek Gingrich thinks that the Federal Reserve should centrally plan currency, interest rates, and banks. If your money is centrally plan, your economy is heavily centrally planned.

Big government Gingrich has proposed no meaningful cuts. He hasn’t proposed eliminating any unconsitutional departments. Ron Paul has proposed $1 trillion in cuts in the first year and 5 deparments to be 86′ed in the first year.

Gingrich is a crook. He took 1.6 million from Freddie Mac to allay concerns of congressional R‘s about the GSE’s. You don’t get 1.6 million for “historical” work for a company like that. Gingrich must think people are stupid to claim something like that. He also whored himself out to the ethanol lobby/boondoggle. How is any of this consistent with a free market or conservatism.

Gingrich is incompetent. He didn’t see housing crash coming while R. Paul predicted it years in advance.

How many times do people like you have to get conned?

      THINK for a minute…
WHO is saying WHO can and CAN’T win?
Who said Reagan could not win?
Same people, media elites, progressives and GOP establishment.
SAME PEOPLE. Why do you lap it up?
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
That so many seem to just accept who the media and the POLLS THEY CONTROL are saying can win is the problem.
The focus group from the FIRST debate showed Cain as the winner, but the media ignored that, only later did polls show some interest, then the smears happened, the polls responded?? THINK about this.
Stop following, start leading. Don’t care who tells you who can win, DECIDE for yourself who is the BEST candidate and support them.
If the Obama people are set up to go against Romney, it is because the expect they will MAKE that result and the WANT him to be the opposition, they know they will destroy him in the general election… Just as they did with McCain, they did not expect Palin who gave the only brief lead in that cycle, but then McCain’s own people worked against her because she was more popular, and still is, than McLame.

      WAKE UP PEOPLE.

There are a lot of good people who make bad decisions. Eventually the piper calls. Those who have snuck in are doing jobs that Americans need right now. When things get better and we could use the extra help, it’s only right to bring in immigrants that have been waiting in line. We are partly to blame for looking the other way when we know someone has broken the law.

You sound like you have a kind heart. You are so close to the situation and your vision is blurred. If you step back and look at it practically, it will be easier to see. Things are always difficult when we let our feelings rule.

@Azcowboy…your comment “he doesn’t fit in at a public place”…..really. I humbly disagree. He fits quite well into the current public places. i.e. there are Spanish interpreters EVERYWHERE a U.S. citizen turns in this country. The local hospital, the DMV, the grocery stores, cell phone stores and then every government agency as well as private companies provide a “press one for – press two for”. The list goes on and on and on. In many places, if you don’t speak Spanish, you don’t get the job posted. That fact is disgusting. Illegals and frankly many LEGALS refuse to assimilate in the use of English simply because they don’t have to and due to that fact we have pandered to them by providing avenues to accommodate their stubborness. The fact that newborns, which include anchor babies, receive SS numbers shortly after birth, makes it very convenient for illegal parents and grandparents to latch on to an offsprings name and SS number. Good grief, the infant doesn’t know the difference, and as far as I know unless notified of fraud, the SS administration doesn’t track or trace. We have a mess in this country. Some of these people are voting and they are voting for any candidate who will guarantee them amnesty and more public assistance and taxpayers money. 5,000 votes were cast in Colorado in the 2010 state election that are being investigated due to illegal vote casting. Something has to be done, and Newt’s latest idea is not the answer.

You’ve got it backwards. There isn‘t a dime’s worth of difference between big government neo-cons (fake conservatives) and people like Obama.

You guys love your Wilsonian foreign policyof empire, nation-building, “making the world safe for democracy,” propping up tyrants that abuse their own people so long as they do the bidding of the U.S. govt., foreign-aid, etc.

Neo-cons and Obama both love the unconstitutional UnPatriotic Act.

Neo-cons and Obama both expand the govt. when in power. GWB expanded it as the fastest pace since LBJ.

Neo-cons and Obama both ignore the Constitution whenever it is convenient.

Why don’t big government statists like Cain, Gingrich, and Romney call for the elimination of all fed. departments that are unconstitutional. R. Paul has proposed eliminating 5 of them in the first year alone with $1 trillion in cuts. None of the others have come remotely close to that.

Big govt. neo-cons also ignore the Constitution on the War on Drugs. There is no power given to the central govt. for that. It’s a state/local issue. Same goes for abortion.

Big govt. neo-cons and Obama ignore the Constitution on the Federal Reserve, fiat paper currency, and planned interest rates. Both think that the FED can centrally plan the economy.

You aren’t voting for a choice with Gingrich, Cain, Romney, and Obama. They’ll all keep the same basic structure in place while nibbling at the edges.

Neo-cons came out of the left, and they should go back.

Gary – there is much in common, Obama Zombies, and Paulbots. They seem to each look at their guy as a sort of messiah who can never be wrong, that is similar…
      Welfare…
So were the founders “neocons” too?
The reason we have Constitution is that the Articles of Confederation that were in place previously were too close to Anarchy and wars between states, foreign alliances with states, general chaos was building.
One of the consistent and repetitive justifications for the Constitution was the US Navy, because we needed to guard our interests OVERSEAS, to include merchant shipping that was under attack from foreign powers and pirates.
Oddly that still happens TODAY! The founders must have been neocons for wanting to protect our interests oversees by your standard.
I’m beginning to establish that the Ron Paul movement is so close to the OWS crowd because of the anarchists, because much of the Ron Paul platform (mostly the foreign policy) is very much like anarchy!
So maybe the Paulbots should be arguing for the pre-Constitutional Articles of Confederation, because they seem to miss the reasons for the Constitution in the first place.

All you people that think you are Patriots and want to vote for the same old lying politicians, are clueless to the Constitution and Liberty. It is not your fault, it is the way you were raised, propped up in front of the TV making you believe that all is true if it is said on TV. Remember Jack Nicholsons line in the movei “The Shining?“ ”You see? He heard it on the television so it has to be true.” That is your mentality. The truth is, I believe the media has not one ounce of truth. They lie about everything. They are the establishment and do not want the status quo changed. They want someone that will help keep the world in turmoil so they can grab their fair share of the ratings. Bad news is good news for the media. Paul would bring an end to all the crap that is taking this country down. We will fall people. I believe it is too late for all of us and listening to all you Progressive Republicans on here tells me that we may be doomed. The number of people asleep at the wheel is a frightening thing and I am not sure what it will take to wake you up. Most likely it will be when the POTUS, whoever the Progressive that is in office at the time, hand the keys to the U.S. over to the U.N.

The illegals will never assimilate. If Newt gives them amnesty, they will all vote Democrat and give themselves more power and handouts. I’ve lived in Southern California for years and La raza is very strong among all the Latinos, I know, believe me, they are not your friend, and never will be, ever. They do want to take back the southwest US and are now trying to repopulate it, the local clinics are full of illegals popping out baby after baby. Newt has no idea what he is unleashing on America, but it will be something that Obama was never able to do, that is to Radically Change America.

      @Kid,

Newt is on record stating that the 14th amendment which has been wildly interpreted to include Illegal aliens, does not need to be repealed. A simple act of congress is all that is required to stop making anchor babies US citizens.

The fact that politicians pander to Illegals, and sell out Americans, in the hopes of future votes, is yet another reason for term limits.

I’m against illegal immigration and I think Newt is as well. Could it be that Newt has lots of inside connections and is aware that the dream act is going into effect before the primary gets underway by Obama with an executive order. Obama may as well have done it from day one, you know he plans on it as well as all the democrats. They plan on making as many illegals eligible to vote as possible before the election, now they can vote for Newt just as well as Obama! If Romney is the nominee, Obama can say, you know Romney is gonna deport you if you vote for him! Newt is not giving Obama any ammo, why worry about pleasing the base to win the primary if you can’t win the general election? Duh!

To say that we can’t deport millions of illegals is a bold face LIE! We have already done it as a country once before but you won’t hear about it because our corrupt politicians insist on following the globalist agenda. Just look up Operation ******* in the 50′s that Dwight Eisenhower implemented to control the illegal immigration problem. Anyone who says we can’t mass deport illegals is ignorant of our history because we have already done it before. To add to the truth. Alabama recently released that because of their new immigration laws they passed unemployment has dropped from 9.8% to 9.3% in the State and in some counties up to 1% and that is in 1 MONTH. That just goes to show if we want to create jobs, if we want to save our local communities then we need to get the illegals and their anchor babies out so we can get our jobs back and save money from not having hard working Americans to have to pay for all the taxpayer funded public services of illegals. We need to keep demanding that our laws be enforced, current immigration levels cut, foreign birthright citizenship be banned, and foreign land ownership in America be banned.

I agree we need e-verify and enforce the laws on businesses who hire illegals .. the most recent ones would self deport .. and the older ones .. like Newt (been here 25 years) was speaking about would either need to have others support them or they too would leave. I don’t like this special treatment because you broke the law longer.

@kickillegalsout…allow me to add to your post rebutting the claim of Gingrich that removing 12 million (only?…don’t think so) is unrealistic.

On June 17, 1954, some 750 agents swept northword with a goal of rounding up 1,000 aliens a day. By the end of the day, 50,000 aliens were caught in two states alone. Another 488,000 fled the country. Be September of that same year 80,000 had been taken in Texas alone and 500-700,000 had left voluntarily. Tens of thousands were put on ships the Emancipation and the Mercurio reaching Vera Cruz, Mexico 500 miles to the south. Unlike the RINOs today, Eisenhower saw the danger of where not stopping this invasion was going to ultimately take us. Illegal immigration was kept in tow for approximately ten years. In 1965, we have to thank pres. Lyndon Johnson for literally turning control of illegal Latino immigration policies upside down. We are now living with the horrendous results of that action. People who believe Newt Gingrich and others who claim this task is impossible need to aquaint themselves with actual history. It is not impossible, we need politicians with intestinal fortitude and a willingness to enforce laws ALREADY on the books.

I like Newt but he may have screwed up by going too deep in to hypothetical la la land. For now, why not jjust say that: “Laws on the books today are not being enforced and the first thing I would do is start enforcing them. From there we are going to have to work it out together.” One topic can bog him down. All he has to do is generally promote conservative ideals and principals as he does best and face his cirtics head on. He doesn’t need to paint himself in to any corners this early in the game.

Newt did that commercial, not because he believes in man made global warming, he doesn’t, but because he did not want Dems to control environmental issues. He was trying to promote a conservative alternative. He has admitted that it was a mistake to do the ad. Here is the truth of Newt Gingrich’s view on Climate Change, the Conservatives’ role, Nancy Pelosi, and Al Gore: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=261278120581069 Amnesty is citizenship, Newt said clearly he would not grant them citizenship.

( Funny how my comment was moved way down the page)Let me ask you Gary, who did you vote for last round ?? Romney didn’t make because the media and the establishment had it out for him. If you weren’t following his campaign, then you don’t know. It ended in Florida. McCain got Crist’s support, as Crist made the state officials agree nobody would endorse any candidate. Yet, Crist came out and supported McCain in the last day and back stabbed everybody. So did the Hispanic leader.Giving Romney nop time to respond or get his endorsement mentioned. Why did they wait, because Jed Bush was endorsing Romney, but didn’t come out and say it because of the agreement Crist had. Romney would have won Florida, no doubt about it, Jed was loved. Also, Romney couldn’t get the evangelical vote, because all you jumped on board with Huackabee, truley a waste of a vote. So the vote got split, just like is happening again this time. You can’t see this Gary ?? Evangelicals cutting off their nose despite their face. The conservatives that is, people forget, a large minority of evangelicals are democrat. It sure is bigotry and I am tired of it. All of you are doing the same things you claim to hate the media and establishment for. Then make false claims that Romney is in bed with them… Welcome in the reining king Obama, and you can all blame it on yourselves… I just don’t care no more, I can clearly see just as much BS going on with the ranks of the right wing as I do in the government as
