Rush on Romney’s Global Warming Comments: ‘Bye, Bye Nomination’

Rush on Romneys Global Warming Comments: Bye, Bye NominationRadio talk show host Rush Linbaugh has a message for presidential candidate and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney: Say goodbye to the 2012 Republican nomination. Last Friday, Romney spoke at a town hall event in New Hampshire, telling the audience that he believes human beings have an impact on global warming:

I don’t speak for the scientific community, of course, but I believe the world’s getting warmer. I can’t prove that, but I believe based on what I read that the world is getting warmer. And number two, I believe that humans contribute to that. I don’t know how much our contribution is to that, because I know that there have been periods of greater heat and warmth in the past but I believe we contribute to that.

Limbaugh isn’t happy with the presidential hopeful. The popular host also said, “…the whole premise of man-made global warming is a hoax. And we still have presidential candidates who want to buy into it.” Listen below:

Ethanol subsidies are one of the stupidest ideas ever implemented. They put pressure on corn prices (hell, China just banned corn ethanol for this reason), and ultimately they don’t do much but subsidy Iowa farmers.

But Iowa votes first in the primaries. There’s a reason why it is unlikely to change.

I agree. We know that Romney supports most of obama’s agenda anyway, but to publicly support the global-warming hoax is probably the final nail in his “progressive” coffin – Poor Mittens, always an also-ran, never a nominee. It is vital that the GOP nominee be able to differentiate themselves from obama, Romney is an obama-clone, a non-starter for 2012.

It sounds like you have really made up your mind about that. I won’t try to change your mind, but i think you are going to regret saying that.

    Why is this important?

If he believes in “Global Warming” and we are even partially to blame, that translates into him eventually wanting to do something about it, which in turn translates into regulating you & me and corporations. That doesn’t sound like anything different than what Obama wants.

The GOP will not get the White House in 2012 without the Tea Party. Romney is not a constitutional conservative and can’t get the Tea Party endorsement. The GOP had better wake up to that fact. Good old boy party politics won’t cut it this time around.

But why do the Tea Party continue to say they want to focus on the debt and economy and then continue to allow social issues to eliminate potential candidates with real economy and debt ideas. How can Tea Party people be anti Romney when he is the only present candidate who has put forward ideas about dealing with the economy and debt? Is it really about the debt or is Tea hiding behind debt to push a social agenda?

      Posted on June 8, 2011 at 5:20am

      @Charlie: Why?

You can test the absorption spectrum of CO2 in a lab for shortwave vs. longwave radiation. You know how much CO2 there is in the atmosphere. You also know that most of the change in CO2 in the atmosphere is from humans (you can add up all the sources of CO2 and divide by the volume). All of this is very simple science, and you can calculate in general terms how much the earth will warm based on the CO2 concentrations.

The much harder problem is predicting the future, and this is where liberals go off on a doomsday tangent. But the basic science is really quite straightforward.

To use an analogy: if you eat an extra slice of pie a day, you’ll probably get fatter. If a pie is 500 kcal and a pound of fat contains 3500kcal, then you will gain roughly 1 pound per week. Simple, right? But the body is a non-linear system, and so some people might gain more weight, some might gain less, but the science is very easy to calculate roughly how much weight you’d expect someone to gain over time.

The world has gone through periods of warming and cooling. And man has an impact on the environment. How much? Don’t know. I am pretty sure that vikings who settled a very green and lush Greenland weren’t driving SUVs there, and didn’t have diesel powered longboats.

But I don’t think 6 billion people have zero effect on the world.

My vote is too precious to waste. My country is too precious. My freedom is too important. My conscious is too demanding as is my God. Once you know better, you have no excuse for choosing evil, any evil, lesser or no. Believe me, God is watching, measuring, testing us all. We have to earn the right to keep our country and to keep her free. No more backsliding, no more sales pitches that compromise us, that lead us to choose a “lesser” evil. Until we each put our foot down and say no more, evil will be served.

Romney never said he believed in ‘man-made global warming.’ As a politician he gave a soft answer but he was completely consistent with what he has been saying for years. He believes the earth is warming… and that man contributes to it, how much he does not know.

    Questions for viewers:
    1) Is the temperatures around the earth rising at this time. As far as we know YES. – He agreed with this.

    2) Has it gotten colder and hotter in the history before, is it cyclical? YES – He agrees, he said it has been hotter.

    3) Does man’s actions effect the environment? I am not asking how much, does it? YES – He agreed with this.

    4) Is man the cause of Global Warming? NO – Romney did not say that it did he said it contributed and that he does not know how much.
When I say he has been consistent – he was asked this in 2007 during his last race and 2008. During one townhall he was actually asked by a man wearing a Santa Claus suit and said the same thing. Check this out on YouTube.

What I am trying to say is that, to me, man made global warming is a false theory. In this answer session he did not admit to believing in Man-Made Global Warming – Did he?

It amazes me the amount of cognitive dissonance you have to have to see her stick her foot in her mouth over and over and over and over again and dismiss it as “OMG Lamestream media again!” She‘s shown that she’s the type of person who would die of starvation if locked in a grocery store overnight yet people still flock to her, it’s truly sad. What’s more sad is if she somehow pulls the impossible and wins the Republican primary she WILL lose to Obama. Period.

And today, the GM CEO, APPOINTED BY OBAMA, issued a statement lobbying for a Federal Gas tax Hike to obviously NUDGE ( CASS SUNSTINE AUTHOR and OBAMAS Regulatory CZAR). He wants the Tax to go up to $1, from 18.5 cents. The GOAL: force people off the gasoline powered engines into wait for it…… the VOLT TADA!!!! for the last 6 months, the Chevy volt has sold an average of 400 cars PER MONTH. So, what have we learened from this? The ELECTRIC CAR IS not feasable, affordable or WANTED BY THE PUBLIC.. it SUCKS!! Another attempt to contol the publi,c and Obama picking and choosing winners and losers according to his PAY TO PLAY chicago Politics. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!

You are right but Romney never said he believed in man-made-global warming. He believes the earth is warming right now… as far as we know it is. He said there have been hotter times… there have been, also colder times, this shows that any change in climate is done by the environment. He said that man contributes to the changes in the environment… we do, very little though and that is what he said “I don’t know how much our contribution.”

If anything be mad that he gave a soft answer, but he has been saying these things since the last Presidential run. If anything he is at least being consistent. He knows Global Warming would be a bad choice for any candidate that is why almost all of the others have flip flopped on that issue, he hasn’t.

      Survivorseed,
Sorry dude, but you are just a moron. Of course the earth is warming. It has been doing it since the last ice age, that science is proven. Man made global warming is a pipe dream brought forth by scientists and alarmists like Algore who turn a profit from the unwashed masses who buy into all these nonexistent scares. Do you have you food stocked up for December 2012? That is supposed to be a real biggie too. Maybe you should go to the store. Now seeing as you probably think the world is only 6000 years old, this fact is lost on you but unfortunately sticking your head in the sand will not change this fact. I know the earths climate is changing naturally anyway, but our dependance on fossil fuels and our destruction of the earths forests are contributing to accelerate this process. I was taught in HIGH SCHOOL science and history classes that this planet goes through climatic cycles that last several thousand years (possibly hundred thousand). I was taught that the cycle goes from tropical ages in which the dinosaurs roamed this planet to ice ages which reportedly killed off the dinosaurs. The last thing that I was taught in high school was that this planet’s last climate extreme was an ICE AGE and that the planet is cycling away from that ice age into a tropical age.

Logic would dictate that the only way for this cycle to progress is for the planet to overall INCREASE in temperature over thousands of years.

And now there are people who wish to profit from creative marketing and fear mongering to merely further their chosen careers.

I would say that is it in a nutshell. Kind of like career politicians.

I thought I liked the guy, but the more I hear the more I say, Romney is a RINO. Go join the other RINOs and just become Democrats (Libs).

He should know better than to be truthfull when running for office.

Everything he said was correct. We have had a recent warming period. In fact, last century we had 2 warming and 2 cooling periods. We are mostly likely on the verge of a cooling period.

We know that a change in the composition of the atmosphere can change climate. Like massive volcanic activity, or a meteor throwing up a cloud of dust. (which may be the cause of the last ice age)

We know that humans have an effect on the atmosphere because of the pollutants we pump into it. For instance, the smog over Mexico City, or the way the colors change in the evening sky because of the way light is defused. (why is the sky blue?)

So, is it conceivable that humans have an effect on climate? Of course it is. The biggest problem is that the left has created this hoax, and with the destruction of data to cover it up, it’s becoming very hard to measure our effect. Clearly we’ve been lied to repeatedly to get us to buy into the big lie.

But, that doesn‘t mean that there isn’t snippets of true science behind the hoax. It also shouldn’t mean that we jump on anyone who has done research, and can see that changing atmosphere can have an effect on how much heat it holds.

Sorry folks but who can take the guy seriously when his first name is Mitt ? Mitt Romney is one of the “dinosaurs” of the GOP that really can‘t win over Obama if he’s the GOP candidate.

Global Warming, like Global Cooling, has been going on for thousands of years. Is man partly responsable ? Maybe. Maybe not.
