Sometimes when you are driving in a snow storm, your skill at the wheel means less than your good fortune from above.
A Russian driver found this out last week, narrowly missing what would surely have been a catastrophic crash with on oncoming truck that lost traction on the road.
The quiet drive down a snowy roadway quickly turned into a death-defying moment of peril, as the truck swerved and missed the car by a few feet.
Check it out for yourself, and be careful out there on snowy roads this winter:

Posted on December 17, 2011 at 6:07amThe camera car is most likely a cop car. That is why the truck pulled over. Both cops are getting there to help out the stalled snow plow.

Do people still believe in God in Russia?

Posted on December 18, 2011 at 5:36pmAfter that near death experience both the gasoline truck driver and his passenger both took another long swallow of Vodka. Russians are use to speeding in icy conditions since it snows 24/7 in Russia.

Posted on December 17, 2011 at 6:24amI watched it 3 times….he was going around a slow moving vehicle (snow plow) and it was a straight road. Better question, why was he going so fast & passing with oncoming vehicles?

Posted on December 17, 2011 at 1:24pmHere’s my take:
Report Post »1) Who in Russia, or most other places, have dash cams besides law enforcement?
If that were the case, the overhead lights may have been on. That said, The Snowplow Driver may have slowed in reaction to this. The driver in the blue truck, avoiding a rear-end collision, swerves into the other lane and the trailor of the truck makes contact with the snowplow causing the fishtail. The van in front of the camera car moves to the right seeing the oncoming danger. The truckdriver in the blue truck is obviously very skilled and gets his truck under control and drives out. The camera car (cop?) began stopping as soon as the blue truck came in sight, but too late move back to the right.
2) If the snowplow had been stalled or just just sitting there as has been speculated in some of the comments, than why was there only one car sitting behind it when the camera car went passed it? Judging by the traffic before the oncoming police car, there would have been a line of traffic. I believe two cops were responding to an unrelated call and things just happened.

Posted on December 17, 2011 at 2:45pmMy daughter is a Russian language major and I asked her what they were saying- this is what she said:
“Haha! Right after they nearly get mowed down, (and they’re through wheezing) the one says, “Vodka, da?” and the other one answers, “Yeah, when we get back.” : ) The rest is kind of hard for me to make out.”
Pretty much what I guessed!

Posted on December 17, 2011 at 12:55amFASCINATING, just fascinating, however, why hasn’t theBlaze covered some REAL Russian news like, oh I dunno, their recent development of a new ICBM? The greatest lie ever told was that the Cold War is over! Russia has developed a brand, spanking new ICBM (that is I_nter_C_ontinental B_allistic M_issile) that is, proudly asserted by the Russians themselves, apparently capable of evading any current or FUTURE missile defense system! HELLO! The Cold War never ended! Why do “alternative” media outlets like theBlaze continue aiding the mainstream media in selling that lie? The missile is called the RS-24 and as Dan Ackroyd’s character in “Spies Like Us” so famously said, “…it will suck the paint off your house and give you and your kids a permanent orange afro…”

The truck with the video camera is evidence they are aggressive drivers in hazardous road conditions attempting to over take the truck in front of them. This close call only fuels their ignorance.
Report Post »1casawizard
Posted on December 17, 2011 at 2:19amThat’s right POVERTY, You should only pass when the road ahead is clear. People in camera car just about bought the farm.
Report Post »ComradeAdam
Posted on December 17, 2011 at 5:45amActually, watch it closely, the white truck in front of them pulls over. It only looks like they are going around the truck in front of them. The blue truck coming from the opposite direction did not look before going around the snow plow and had to make a speedy correction. They were going too fast and looking for an oportunity to pass on a dangerous road, but this one was the blue truck’s fault.
Report Post »poverty.sucks
Posted on December 17, 2011 at 12:59pmYes it was the Blue Truck that was out of control, the truck with the camera made several maneuvers to the left, attempting to pass, or over take the white truck ahead.

Posted on December 16, 2011 at 10:59pmHe was passing the van without checking for oncoming traffic. There was a stopped vehicle the semi was passing. When the semi driver swerved to avoid a collision due to the bad driving of the guy with a camera in his vehicle the trailer fishtailed but he remained calm and got it straightened out just in time to keep from smashing the vehicle with a camera in it. Bad driving by the guy with the camera and a save by a skilled semi driver who kept his cool instead of locking up the brakes and sealing the demise of the camera guy. I honestly dont see a miracle other than one bad driver causing a head on crash condition and a skilled driver avoiding it.
Report Post »FreedomPurveyor
Posted on December 16, 2011 at 11:19pmI agree that it was skilled driving on the part of the semi driver, but I think you’re misinterpreting what is going on. The van in front of the car with the camera appears to have pulled over and slammed on the brakes because the semi is swerving to avoid the snow-plow, which is stopped in the road. The car with the camera cannot stop in time on the icy road and swerves to the side of the van, into the path of the semi. The semi driver definitely saved the day by keeping it cool and accelerating around the car instead of braking.

Posted on December 17, 2011 at 2:15amThat was proper behavior for the oncoming semi to keep the same speed and trajectory. The trailer hit ice while passing and trailer started slide. It hit pavement and followed tractor. ho hum. must be slow day at Blaze.
