Russian News Outlet Releases Video of Reporter ‘Injured’ by U.S. Police

A Russian TV reporter claims that she and her cameraman were wrongfully arrested and detained by local police Saturday at a protest demonstration outside Fort Benning in western Georgia (top video below).  On Tuesday, the same reporter claimed that she experienced “cruel treatment” at the hands of local police authorities (see bottom video below) as they handcuffed her at the scene.

The Washington-based pair of Russia Today journalists were arrested with at least 20 others on charges that they violated state and local laws governing public protests.

The protest event is an annual occurrence outside the U.S. military school which trains Latin American military officers. Protestors claim the school’s graduates have used their training to commit human rights abuses.

The reporter, Kaelyn Forde, took to the Russia Today airwaves Monday, condemning their arrest as “very unacceptable.” According to Forde, she and her cameraman were only on the scene to cover the story and local police specifically targeted people who were “filming and documenting” the protest for arrest.

In addition, Russia Today claims its crew members were detained for 32 hours and forced to pay a fine after being arrested, “despite complying with the police demand not to come close to the gates of the base,” the network reported.

On Tuesday, the network released more video and claimed that their journalists had been injured by the “cruel treatment” they were subjected to:

The video shows Forde being handcuffed as she tells the police she’s a member of the press. Forde complains to the police officers that she doesn‘t know why she’s being arrested and that her handcuffs are “too tight.”

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reported police also threatened to arrest one of its reporters covering the demonstration.

Muscogee County jail records show Forde and Conway were jailed for 29 hours before they were released Sunday on $1,300 bond each.  The police department had no comment for the AP Tuesday.

They’d get a much warmer reception in Los Angeles on May Day, when communists, marxists, socialists, democrats, progressives, war on terror protesters, unions, illegal immigrants, anarchists, college instructors, college students, and others march in the annual May Day parade.

DOES this not reek slightly of being a setup situation? I am a little senile, but wasn’t it Russia who beat the living daylights out of 2 journalists (at least the ones we know about)? You know, folks, we are becoming the laughingstock of the world. Just recently we were listed on the Committee that investigates Human Right Abuses. Countries like Russia, Iran, North Korea, Libya, I believe, were several members on this panel. I wish I could recall the main points that each country gave for chastising us for our abuses, but truly those reasons were ludicrous!!! We may do stupid stuff, but we try to correct the error of our ways without being blacklisted by ‘pots calling the kettle black.’
It is apparent that other nations are efforting to break us down, bring us to our knees, and mock us for the purpose of —-who knows. We are vulnerable because that is exactly what our OWN government is trying to do—ostensibly to fit us into the NEW WORLD ORDER..? pattern. It is back to making all nations equal–like in our schools. Destroy achievement, can do spirit, success by saying that those who do not try or flunk get second-third chances for their mediocrity and no effort should have the same as those who work their derrieres off. Equality of opportunity vs equality of condition. I am ENTITLED . How they have turned effort and hard work upside down on its head.
Folks, our chances are getting to be slim and none if we do not regain our country’s BACKBONE and CAN DO spirit. All those before us—what must they be thinking about this generation? Is this what we want? thank you

Russia Today enjoys making America look bad. They feature nutty psychics from California and present them as normal Americans etc etc. Maybe the RT reporter did something wrong off video and perhaps she didn’t, but one thing is for sure, the police very foolishly gave RT exactly what they wanted, an excuse to show that America is a police state that has no respect for its highest law in the First Amendment. RT is small time here but in Russia, Europe and Southern Asia they have a large following.

If she was breaking the law what should the police have done? Should they just ignore her and hope she stops? A press pass is not an allaccess backstage pass for a concert folks! If a reporter steps over the line they should be treated just as any other citizen that breaks the law. They are no better than anyone else. This is the way crooked politicians, actors and sports figures should be treated if they break the law. Just like everyone else. Stop acting ias if these people are royalty and letting them get away with things because they are special. We ran royalty out of this country a long time ago for a erason.

Sounds nice in theory Blacksmith, but look at the result. And the damage done is not worth any arrest at that protest. Many police are taught how to deal with the press and this is why.

I was treated rougher at 13 when i was playing with matches in a neighbors yard, cop yelled stop, I ran, he took me down…and OMG he even put me in a squad car…THE HORROR…When he took me home to my parents, I was crying too…that was back when your parents took the side of the officer, not said, Why you messing with my kid Pig! How things have changed huh? Its time to refind our way

America is just showing to the world how tough, cruel and indifferent it can be to its own citizens. By treating Americans like cattle, feeling them up, groping them, arresting reporters and going after American children and women at the nation’s airports, turning the country into a Police State, Peace Prize ha ha ha Obama is trying to send a message to the rest of the world just how tough and how much of a tyrant he can be in the Homeland. So if you other countries, can only start to see just how corrupt and coercive and criminal his administration can be with his own people, here in the United States of America, you will shiver in your boots should he dare to attack you and do the same to your populace. This Obama guy has got it down to a fine art by now, he knows the way of the jungle and he’s applying that mindset amongst his very own people. Training them to cooperate and bow down to tyrants as he has shown the people when he bowed down before them on his international tours. He is using his fat lady to sing for her supper by having you sing her tune too. Obama’s a fine piece of work he is, and the legacy he‘s leaving behind him when he’s finally out of office, if that ever happens, will be one of misery and an exhausted public who had to live like the blacks of yesterday and feel the pain of the slavery he inflicted upon them while he was in office.
The United States of America elected a shoe shine boy and man do they regret it, now all they can do is watch him try to look tough and get mad, because he feels like he wasn‘t tipped the dime he feels he was owed for spending all of America’s money in the trillions hoping when he smiles his pearlies at you, you will admire and like the shine.

Most of the people I know have never been arrested or hasseled by the police. People don’t get police attention by accident. I don’t believe that the police are out there and say” let’s screw with this guy today”. If you break the law you will have a negative contact with the police. You post on here like you have a big chip on your shoulder. Every contact I have ever had with the police I had it coming. It is called personal reponsibility. Actually, I lived in Columbus for 7 years & this JOKE they call a “protest” has been going on for 20 years. The people (environmentalists, hippies, people who have nothing better to do other than protest, etc) who show up to this are the progressives, not the police. The “school” (School of the Americas) they are protesting closed years ago, it’s totally been re-vamped & they invite the protesters on post every year to take a tour & ask questions so they can be educated about what they really do. Some of the protesters take the tour but the majority of them are there to cover themselves in fake blood, carry coffins, lie down in the middle of the road & climb over (or cut) the fences of Ft. Benning (which is what most of them are actually arrested for). We used to cringe every year, having to see the nasty hippie chicks with armpit hair longer than most men have. I know there can be rogue cops; however, I’ve NEVER heard of any issues with the police at this protest until this year…kind of a strange coincidence there’d be these accusations at the same time the communists/socialists/marxists are taking their masks off don’t you think?

People–especially “progressives”–will protest anything. The hypocrisy is astounding, though isn’t it? I mean, the left will scream about how dangerous and/or crazy the T.E.A. Partiers are when they gather with “Audit the Fed” signs, but the anti-war hippies and animal rights loons are oh so brave when they throw blood on themselves and destroy public and private property.

EXACTLY, you hit the nail on the head & they’ll be outside the Federal courthouse in February as well, when the sentencing is going on for those arrested. These are the same folks who spit on our Soldiers, in fact, the Soldiers are strongly encouraged not to go down to the protest b/c if they did, someone would probably get hurt really badly (Benning is home of the Rangers & Infantry, if you get my drift). The city of Columbus is great though, they got tired of seeing these idiots show up & started a counter-rally across the street, to show support for the troops….it outgrew the SOA protest the second year & they had to move it to a bigger spot. I wish I could move back there, if only the Army would cooperate & send my husband there…lol.

On a serious note, why no raw footage? Where is the footage with audio leading up to the arrests? Pictures only give part of the story and we have to rely on her word for the rest. Sorry, but based on previous coverage by this outlet, credibility is always questionable. Reporters getting in with the protesters is not an unheard of phenomenon.

      1. Russian agents sent in to stir up trouble as news crew.
      2. Obama administration set up the incident for the future usage of.
      3. Soros sponsored action.

Obama will use this in some fashion, since him and the Progressives have been on a tear lately about the ‘extremists’ of Fox (no suprise) and one of ‘MSNBC’. – if she had had marks from those handcuffs that made her cry she would be displaying them proudly on camera.
      – If her wrists were injured wouldn‘t they be tender and wouldn’t the bracelets hurt?
      – she’s hiding her wrists cuz THERE ARE NO MARKS.
