Joy Behar is known for very enlightened guests and commentary. So what did she bring us yesterday? None other than a Rutgers professor telling us that large families, and having lots of kids, is regarded as “littering.” Why? Because “we have too many people on this planet to begin with.”
The guest is Rutgers University prof Helen Fisher of the Center for Human Evolution Studies, who Pat Archbold says has written for Oprah Magazine. She’s also written several books on sex and love.
The comment starts at about 2:27 below:

He will be my only but I did and had all my fun before, now I just want to stay home and love and raise my beautiful son. It is by choice and trust me, I have plenty of other things to do with my 30 acres and 5200 square foot home.

Posted on November 18, 2010 at 8:59amI believe 5 basic points on the population issue; #1; people don’t make people. #2; God makes people, (conception is a specific and deliberate act of the Holy Spirit). #3; people JUST have sex. #4; which provides God with a window of opportunity. and #5; God,who invented math and can count very well, wont make more people than the world can support. Not that He can only make people if we have sex, He’s quite capable of making them without it and has, but of course those type of people are called Christ.
I personally believe that birth control is the most egregious sin being committed today because it’s where we are playing god the most (“I will ascend on high” Lucifer) and where we actively work the most to keep God from doing the work He is doing through us. If He’s deliberately and specifically making us it must be for a deliberate and specific purpose that He has for us in His great plan for our salvation. Whose side are we on if we’re actively trying to stop Him from getting it done? It also shows a massive lack of faith in Him and a refusal to serve Him. This is exactly the reason that we are losing almost all of Christendom to the muslims today. “Lord Jesus, please take my life and make it yours…..well, except for that baby thing, you really don‘t know what you’re doing there!’

Posted on November 18, 2010 at 8:56amI am beginning to see a trend here: First they distanced people from religion through media, the courts, education, and public displays. They reduced religion (and all the very relevant societal history attached to it) to a “superstition” shared by illiterate people. Then they change laws and social mores to make it difficult to follow your religious beliefs. Now all these “intellectuals” are given platforms to disseminate their anti-God rhetoric: the Green Movement, the one world order, the UN.
I think that we need to rip a page from their own play books. Infiltrate these organizations and effect change from within. We need to collapse their “grass roots” organizations. I am wondering how we could do this- but something needs to be done before there is a major clash of ideology in this country/world.

If you divided the world into families of 4 you could give every family 4 acres and a mule and fit them all in the African Savannah. Only Americans who live on the coasts buy the Population Bomb scare. We in flyover country see the vast amounts of room to grow that this world still has.

Posted on November 18, 2010 at 8:33amThe U.S. is virtually deserted if you look at it realistically, 300 million people inhabiting a major continent makes for a very sparse spread of people. Outside of cities you can drive for hours and only see one house per mile in most places. Who are you to set a limit on how many children a family can have anyway? Seriously, who do you think you are to even suggest such a “policy”. What if we have four kids and my wife is pregnant with a fifth, what are you going to do, fine us? What if we have the fifth and have a sixth coming? What if we don’t pay the fine?
Petty tyrants are everywhere, and the internet gives them a bullhorn. Geesh.

Posted on November 18, 2010 at 9:23amI am not surprised at all by these comments. People like this have been around for a long time. What I am surprised by is that the subject of population control is becoming less and less taboo. I mean, seriously, limit how many kids someone can have? That is a little extreme, especially when the average number of children per household has declined. And like ghostofJefferson said, what are you going to do if people go over the limit? Forced abortions, forced sterilization or fertility police? It is a frightening progressive fantasy, to control the population, and should always stay just that.

Posted on November 18, 2010 at 11:05amGood morning Ghost, You should check out the west, you can drive hundreds of miles and never see a single house. As far as how many kids a person can have, well, stop giving more government money to the parasites for every kid they have and you will see a drop in the birth rate. I know it isn’t a popular stand with the pro handouts folks, but it is very true that when you entice some poor schlum with more handouts they will continue to breed to get more money and food stamps.

Posted on November 18, 2010 at 12:47pmI’d like to add my Christian perspective to this conversations (although I’ll concede that not all Christians think this way, but I do). In Psalm 127 and 128 it says:
127:
3 Children are a heritage from the LORD,
offspring a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.
128:
1 Blessed are all who fear the LORD,
who walk in obedience to him.
2 You will eat the fruit of your labor;
blessings and prosperity will be yours.
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots
around your table.
4 Yes, this will be the blessing
for the man who fears the LORD.
My husband and I want at least five, but welcome the idea that God may bless us with more (we already have 2). It seems that nowadays any religion can get an exemption on religion grounds except for Christians. The Amish are exempt from healthcare, the Muslim women are possibly going to be exempt from TSA scanners and pat downs. But for some reason, when a Christian wants to follow God’s teachings, there is no attempt to allow them to freely practice their religion. Maybe that’s because we are so diverse and there are no universal rules that we follow with all our different denominations. But when I study and pray on God’s word, I feel convicted by the Lord as to how He is leading me to follow Him. The number of children we want is something that we feel God has placed upon our hearts, and limiting the number we have would feel like the sin of disobedience, as we would be doing something contrary to what we feel God has called us to do.
As far as being responsible to know when to stop, there are more Christian principles that we live by that ensures our family is taken care of. I won’t list all the verses, but some of these principles that Jesus teaches (and Paul also) are: being good stewards of money, not lusting for material possessions, tithing, being charitable, being prayerful and trusting in God to provide for us. That probably doesn’t make sense to non-Christians, or even to some Christians. I know some Christians who can’t fathom how they should tithe when they are barely making ends meet. But God tells us to do it, and when we do He blesses us. He provides. The first month we tithed $100 that we didn’t have, on pure faith. That same week we got two refund checks in the mail for over paying on a bill and on an insurance policy totaling $99 and change. Anyway, when we follow His word, He provides for us.
I could give bullet point arguments on how these libs are wrong in their justifications for limiting children, forced sterilization, over-population/global warming issues, etc. But all of us on here pretty much know what those are. I just wanted to bring a new perspective into the mix.

I favor having children when you are mature enough to know that, two responsible people need to be financially and emotionally able to support a child before having one. You should also be able to decide how many you are able to take care of responsibly. Now if you do get pregnant and you know you are unable to take care of your child,(many teens do a wonderful job raising their children and have wonderful support systems, but if you can’t) please look for someone with the above attributes to raise the child.

Posted on November 25, 2010 at 1:22amI just want you to realize that after reading the comments dropped by “Be Heard” I couldn’t help but signup just so I can add my 2 cents about “littering”…
@Be Heard – You are an idiot. The term “littering” doesn’t refer to “trash”. I shall explain for your simple mind. When a Mother Dog has puppies what do you call her puppies? I’ll give you the answer, cause I don’t want you to hurt yourself trying to figure it out… The puppies are generally referred to as a “litter of puppies”… Why? You may ask… Because Dogs, like many other animals, typically have 4 or more offspring at a time… Its built into their genetic code because in the animal kingdom, there is a high risk of losing your offspring to other predators, as well as disease and famine.
Now when they talk about “littering” in regards to us “Humans”, they are talking about those who either take fertility drugs and end up like “Octomom” or people like mexicans who typically have enough offspring to form a legion of laborers. So you can hate the college educated “Elitists” all you want, but at least they know how to read into the “context” of what people are saying and draw the “correct” conclusion.
Now that that is cleared up, you can go be outraged at your toaster because it turned your “Poptart” into a regular piece of “toast”… Or did it? ;)
