S.C. Man Finds Out He‘s ’Dead’ After He Tries to Get a Home Loan

A South Carolina man was shocked when he received his credit report and read, “File not scored because subject is deceased.” Apparently, since 2009, Bank of America (BofA) has been telling credit rating agencies that he is dead.
Arthur Livingston, of Prosperity, SC. (Wow. There’s some serious irony at work here), discovered he was “dead” when he tried to obtain a bank loan for a new home back in October. Obviously, being “dead” has made this extremely difficult.
Wait. Livingston discovered this problem back in October and it’s still not resolved?
“Five months since he discovered the problem, Bank of America still does not
have a solution, and his mortgage company has not been able to obtain his credit score to give him a loan for his new home, which he said is the ‘major problem’ with being ‘deceased,’” ABC News reports. “He also fears the inactivity on his credit will negatively affect his credit score.”
After becoming sufficiently annoyed with BofA for not taking his problem seriously (he even wrote BofA CEO Brian Moynihan), Livingston decided to get in touch with local media outlets to have his story publicized.
See the WISTV 10 news report:
Needless to say, Livingston is not happy with the situation.
“[Bank of America] is well aware that the account is very active on a daily basis,” he said.
The whole “being dead” thing has gotten in the way of Livingston’s plans to build a new home for his family, which was supposed to begin construction mid-December. He was hoping the home would be half finished by now.
“It’s been a complete waste of time,“ he said of the ”inexcusable” mistake.
He, his wife, son and daughter, ages 8 and 5 respectively, have been living in a rental home while they wait, according to ABC News. Construction of the home is estimated to take four to six months, weather pending, the report states. The Livingstons had hoped to move into their new home by April.
“Obviously, that’s not going to be remotely possible,” he said.
A spokeswoman for Bank of America says the bank was working with Livingston to “resolve this issue as quickly as possible.”

Posted on February 14, 2012 at 4:21amThat would really piss you off . spend all day doing paperwork on a loan and you find out your dead.
Report Post »At least someone could have told him he was so he didnt waste his time.
Banks aint the only ones to mess up your info. Came home after 2 years overseas and tried to renew the tags on my truck, got a big no go on this. Was told I had 2 DUI’s and a driving on a restricted license in the last 6 months, also did 30 days in jail for this.
At the time I was supposed to be in jail I was more than 3000 miles away! Took 2 weeks to fix this.
Had to prove I was me and not the 21year older guy with the same name.
Had 2 I.D.’s and a birth certificate to show I was 23 and not 44,Military records to prove where I was and when and still wasted 2 weeks of my time.
Would hate to have to prove I was not dead!!!! Would seem the fact I was speaking to them would be proof of life.
Will have to say it is better to find out you are twice as old as you thought with a drinking problem and no drivers license, than to find out you dont need a house because your dead.

Romney’s GOONS are NOT satisfied with trashing Palin or trying to get rid is Allen West by redistricting him or refusing to allow Ron Paul to attend CPAC.
By the way, Ron Paul and Mitt Romney were 124 votes apart in Maine and Ron Paul was NOT allowed to compete at CPAC. THOSE 2 FACTS WERE NOT REPORTED BY FOX NEWS. They were only reported by Fox Business Freedom Watch.
BAIN which has huge shares in Fox – CANCELLED Freedom Watch with Judge Napalitano.
Napalitano has no love for Mitt Romney and its pay back time.
Plus Fox put Freedom Watch up against Bill O’Reilly. Fox Business should dump Lou Dobbs or move DObbs against Bill O’Reilly.

Posted on February 13, 2012 at 5:51pmMr. Livingston may want to ponder another possibility…..that of having his identity stolen.
Ask the elderly retired Arizona lady whose social security checks just stopped one day. Her SS# had been stolen by an illegal alien. Nothing went amiss until this thief was killed in a traffic accident ,in Az. As far as the SSA was concerned he was dead and all payments under that number were ceased, or he had dependents who would be on the dole as a result of his passing and seeking benefits. It took the violated senior citizen about nine months to clear up the mess, but it was finally rectified. SS was her only income. Apparently, there is no cross checking….nice.

Posted on February 13, 2012 at 6:31pmI agree..not sure I’d change my status. Instead…I’d change my name to Juan, or Muhammad…get a landscaping truck or a candy store to work off the books and all the goverment handouts that come with my new status and wealth, including a new cell phone, food stamps, section eight housing with HBO. Then I’d complain about having to learn English and say the pledge of allegiance while demanding my kids get college degrees free!

Posted on February 13, 2012 at 4:15pmYears ago B of A messed up my credit. B of A could not get my credit report corrected. The only way I got it straightened out was to have B of A send me a letter saying the error was theirs and I then sent the letter to the credit agencies. Problem solved. I then dropped all my B of A accounts but now I have one with them due to them buying the bank I had a credit card with.

Posted on February 13, 2012 at 4:13pmFor being dead he sure looks good. So let’s see , BOA made yet another costly mistake that directly affects someone adversely and they do not yet have a Remedy for it? How about sending a letter to the credit guru’s who own our right to borrow money and tell you BOA F—ed up Again. Pretty simple. Now about that house, 6 months to build a house? Really? Ex-MakeOver does it in a week, why does it take your contractor 6 months? Is it becasue BOA or someother mortgage company is micromanaging the work? People with no clue how to build telling those that do how to do there job? Banks have way to much influence in peoples lives, they charge high interest on most SECURED loans and then make everyday life miserable in having to deal with them. TRY A CREDIT UNION. Flush big banks down the crapper. maybe then they will EARN THE INTEREST they charge, and possibly get it right once in a while. Good luck being dead and all, it seems to be working for ya, good color tone, nice hair, sparkling eyes, and all that being dead. you go man…Sue the pants of BOA

Posted on February 13, 2012 at 5:14pm6 months is actually correct. Due to permits and inspections and the fact that only about 1/6 of the people that EHM uses is on a construction crew. EMH also pays a crazy amount to do the permits before hand and have an inspector there at all times. I have family in the contractors business. Now a days with all the useless regulations and needless permits for every second thing, the process can take over a year depending on the size and how professional the drawings and crew is. The 6 months is probably because housing is bad and they would probably use more than one crew.
