Sacha Baron Cohen‘s ’Dictator‘ Mocks ’The Academy of Arts and Zionists’ After Oscar Ban

Sacha Baron Cohen, In Character, Attacks Motion Picture Academy of Arts and ZionistsSacha Baron Cohen, known alternately as Borat, Bruno, Ali G, and most recently, Admiral General Aladeen, has issued his reaction to being banned from this year’s Oscars. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Cohen, who is Jewish, issued his response in character as the fake Islamic Dictator Aladeen, whom he will portray in the upcoming film The Dictator:

“Admiral General Aladeen will deliver a formal response tomorrow morning [Friday] to being banned from The Oscars by the Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts And Zionists,” reads the brief announcement on Cohen’s website.

This Ahmadinejad-esque response, delivered in character as it is, is unlikely to represent Cohen’s actual views. However, the response is still likely to raise a firestorm of controversy, given that it satirizes not only the Academy, but the general refusal by liberal institutions to acknowledge Muslim-Jewish tensions, especially in Middle Eastern countries ruled by actual dictators. Deadline reports that the Academy itself is having difficulty working out how to respond:

Insiders tell me that all morning and afternoon the Academy has been internally debating whether to allow Baron Cohen on the Red Carpet in full uniform as a fictional Middle Eastern General Alladeen and then allow him to change into a tuxedo to attend the show which was his plan all along. Baron Cohen not only is an Academy member, but he’s also one of the stars of Paramount’s 11-nominated film Hugo which is a Best Picture contender. “There’s a debate inside the Academy of how to respond,” an insider tells me. “Certainly the perception is that they lack a sense of humor which got a strong reaction. They are debating what to do. But so far they have not changed their official position.”

Lacking a sense of humor or not, the following quote from Paramount Pictures’ spokespeople will surely strike some readers as almost deliberately oblivious to irony:

“Unless they’re assured that nothing entertaining is going to happen on the Red Carpet, the Academy is not admitting Sacha Baron Cohen to the show,” Paramount told me yesterday.

Readers are urged to weigh in below not only as to the correctness of Paramount’s decision, but also as to whether anything entertaining ever happens on the Red Carpet. The trailer for the film follows:

I love this guy! This looks like one of his best ideas yet. Finally a movie i want to go see. If anyone wants to laugh, look up old Ali G Show episodes. Its where Borat really began n all hilarious, as long as u rnt too uptight.

I’m not really a fan of this guy, but I think I might be come one. Just like I wasn’t a fan of Glenn Beck, until people started attacking him. I like to support people who are being kept down by the man, and right now, the man is the liberals.

I would have walked down the red carpet completely silent dressed as one of the poor people in his upcoming movie. Some times saying nothing is stronger than saying anything at all, and really…define “entertaining” for me Paramount.

Took me awhile to watch Borat and then I only watched in snippets! This guy has humour that is BAM in your face. Like Benny Hill meets George Carlin. If I could have only worn my ribbons below my pocket line I could have looked like his character lol…..

I don’t think they are worried about Jewish sentiments. I think in typical leftwing fashion they avoid offending Arab or specifically Muslim cultures. Maybe it’s out of fear of death threats since most of Hollywood are cowards. They know they have no fear of Christians or Jews physically harming them but a simple comic strip or statement about Muhammed and goat herders around the world are ready to kill.

I like the fact the “Admiral General” is making a mockery of the Academy and all the hypocrisy that goes along with their uptight institution.

    Love.
    This.
    Dude.

As un-PC as you can get. He throws himself into each character with frightening honesty. Watching the reactions of his innocent victims is pure comedy gold. The “interview” with Ron Paul (in Bruno) is Absolutely Epic.

    Can’t wait.

Who Cares ? It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever to continue these fallacies that any of these “award shows” matter. If these awards actually meant anything, they should be given to the american public for having to put up with these silly human beings !

Didn’t the South Park guys show up dressed as Gwyneth Paltrow and Jenniffer Lopez one year? Cohen could have done the same, but he wanted the publicity of the Academy’s refusal. It’s a win-win for him.

Stopped watching the Oscars right after they gave ‘The Duke’ his, for playing Marshall Rooster Cogburn. They hit their peak that year and have been going steadily down hill ever since. However, I will say that if the powers behind the Oscars don‘t like this guys movies then they have suddenly jumped to the head of my ’must see’ viewing list!

Anyone who bothers to learn about Hollywood, knows that the place was built on the early studios that were all founded by Eastern European Immigrant Jews: Goldwyn, Fox, Laemmle, Zukor, Mayer, and the Warners. There is still a tremendous Jewish influence in Hollywood. One only has to bother to read the credits on TV shows and motion pictures to know that. The America that Hollywood presented throughout most of its history was not a reflection of the America that existed, but a depiction of America thorugh the eyes of these Jewish immigrants. A overt liberal slant is still undeniable, in large part due to the fact that most “Stars” at one point were members of the lower ranks of the 99%, waiters and burger flippers and the like and they never threw off the liberal outlook that only the young and unemployed cling to.

      That’s a brilliant evaluation. I always wondered why Hollyweird is 95-99% lib-tarded.

It no surprise that the Academy’s response is the height of hypocrisy. The self congradulatory, smug and self righteous self love fest held annually by the “Out of Touch” has long outlived its relevance to all but the nominees and recipients. It has turned into a politicized vehicle to promote waning careers and to increase ticket sales. I haven’t watched in years, nor do I intend to, unless Cohen is allowed to walk the carpet if full regalia.

What, are they afraid Cohen is gonna spoil the decorum of their uppity, red-carpet snot-fest? These are the people that RAM tolerance down our throats at every commercial break. The dude’s an actor, just like them – and he was really great in HUGO – a movie that’s up for Best Picture, so he deserves to be there. I never hear them shutting down George Clooney when he goes into his liberal blather – they wouldn’t dare.

It’s not a government event. They have every right to tell somebody they can’t come to their clubhouse. If they don‘t like what you’re about they’re not under any obligation to pretend they do.

Why does anyone really care what hollywood types think about anything anyway?

ROFL .. not going to watch a bunch of flaming liberals give each other awards … I would rather read a book! btw .. this week I am a “Neilson family” .. perhaps NASCAR should not have let Michelle Obama use them at the last race of the 2011 season and not cared what the fans said…. .. not watching Daytona on Sunday either. ;-)
