‘Salvation Through the Grace of God’: Obama Explains His Faith

Speaking in Albuquerque, NM today, President Obama explained his Christian faith while responding to an audience member’s question about abortion.

“I’m a Christian by choice,” Obama said. Describing why he made that choice, he added, “It was because the precepts of Jesus Christ spoke to me in terms of the kind of life I would want to lead.”

“We’re sinful, and we’re flawed, and we make mistakes, and we achieve salvation through the grace of God,” he added.

Regarding abortion, he said he Bill Clinton had it “right”: “This is where Bill Clinton had the right formulation a couple of decades ago, that abortion should be safe, legal and rare”:

Ask a MUSLIM if he is a MUSLIM and they will tell you yes he is! Because in the Muslim faith, once a Muslim, always a Muslim.

Dont ask Christians if he is a Muslim…PLEASE ASK MUSLIMS for the answer…You will get a yes every time.

I don’t think he is muslim… just a very disillusioned christian.

Christian = believe in Christ. The church he attended believes in Christ… although the tennants are very messed up. If you believe in Christ, you are therefore a christian by definition. His beliefs as shown numerously by GB shows that he does not ascribe to what Jesus really taught, therefore by the spirit of the definition of Christian, he is not one.

So yes, he is Christian by definition, but not by spirit.

A man or woman of faith does not voice his or her religion as a classroom teaching moment.
obama is always teaching and preaching… he never comes across as someone who can give an honest response.
Religion is not something to fool around with… even if you don’t go to church every Sunday, but believe in God, you show compassion, conviction and grace when speaking of religion.

From the first week during the Obama Administration, he has lied, deceived and cheated the American people but the media, liberals, progressives, socialists and Congress have enabled him to do so. Obama knows nothing about schools, nutrition, health, manufacturing, car industries, banks, Wall Street or the U.S. military. Obama is a cruel hoax groomed and directed by the Bilderberg shadow government. This is the same shadow government that brought us Clinton and both Bushes. He has employed many of the same tax cheats from these previous failed administrations. It is very disturbing to see well meaning American voters fooled by the cooperating media and high tech propaganda and outright lies!

On top of the fact that you should always pray for the President and Congress and judges and the military and law enforcement anyway, regardless of who they are. They have tremendous responsibility and power and we should all pray for their wisdom, their souls, and their decisions.

I am not saying he is not evil. I know for a fact that his real ideology is evil. But, as long as we continue to call him out on his words and actions with such anger, the rest of the public will only percieve us as bullies.

This is the trick. I say kind words and do actually pray for him. Not because I am not aware of his evil, but in spite of it.

Evil is almost not enough to describe the truth behind him and these communist groups who follow him.

I do concern myself with his well being. I honestly see fear in his eyes. Not fear the Tea Parties or the people. Fear of the groups he has aligned himself with. He is in serious danger from these guys. They mean what they say, and will do what they say.

Very nice comment. I would add that by saying “we achieve” and then by the grace of god, that is sort of like saying “we made a touchdown” when watching your favorite football team. In other words, is salvation something we achieve or is it a gift of grace. If he really meant what he said he should have said “we receive” not achieve. So either the professor president doesn’t have a basic command of English or he was lying. Either way he is dangerous to our freedom and he has to be voted out of office in 2012.

There is no Constitutional restriction that individual citizens may not use any criteria they want for voting for a president. The restriction is on the government. Many voted for Barry because he is black. Do you condemn that racism? If I want to reject Barry because he is not a Christian, that is my right. I can see you are of obvious intelligence far beyond your own comprehension. For us dummies out there who are so 15th century, a mans beliefs are the core of his character. A man with no beliefs is empty of both character and reason.

His beliefs do matter. Since we were founded on Christian priciples or even just Godly priciples, it would make sense that anyone who would want to lead this society would want to aspouse the same beliefs. It holds true in reverse as well.

The fact that he lies presents a whole new issue. But as far whether he believes as most Americans do, it matters. Maybe not to you but, again for us dummies out here searching for sky daddies it does to us.

I don’t like liberation theology. i don’t like any theology. christianity, islam, judaism etc…the constitution is very clear on this i think. and, though, he may be lying its still a non-issue.—if only we’d question his political beliefs with as much fervor and zeal and demand the releasing of his university papers….i think we’d have all the ammo we needed with that. who cares about the invisible man in the sky.

We are not a secular nation sir. We are a Christian nation who believes in the workings of God. We live the life God asks to. One of freedom. One where we rule ourselves. One where we can allow a musilim to live right next door and some cases in our homes. We are a nation of peace. We are anation of people who think that regardless of your faith, truth is the only way to go.

We believe in a creator. That he is a loving God. That each man is put on earth to perform his works according his law.

When we aspouse to be “secular” you lose the ability for all men to be created equally. You allow feelings to become the forefront to every aurguement.

You don’t have believe in God to understand that being a good person who tells the truth, who wears a badge of honor, can look you right in the eye and tell you something and you see the truth from his heart is the only darned way a society whether Christian, Muslim, or Athiest can exist without people shooting each other in the streets.

It is the only way sir. And him being the highest ranking one of us makes him that more darned accountable. Your disdain for people of faith is obvious and insulting. But, Sir I pray for you. Christ didn’t teach people to pursue justice after others, He taught them to forgive, and neglect the pursuit of justice (turn and give them the other cheek, forgive those who wrong us). Certainly, we have a lot of conflicting piece of evidences. I know ours is not to judge others (difficult as that may be), however, we are always to test spirits by the Word of God. These things Obama says, does and believes in certainly don’t compute for me.

They said it would be “safe, legal, and rare.” Well I don’t call 50,000,000 babies killed since 1973 RARE!!! How can he even repeat that lie when he KNOWS it hasn’t been rare? It’s a big profitable business which is why Planned Parenthood sends their gestapos out to interfere with people PRAYING and giving out literature. Seriously. He may not be a Christian, but this birther crud has to stop. It negates the aurguement via ignorance. Please stop referencing his birth place. In the end he will be judged by his maker if he in fact lied about it.

I doubt he is a Christian in the true Christian sense. Leberation theology dictates Christianity. But, their version of Jesus is a victim. They relate to Him with sypathy vice empathy. They see themselves as people who have been rounded up and hammered in.

That makes him an angry Christian. A retaliatory Christian. He’s wrong. They are wrong. But, in A,erica even the President can worship who and how he wants.

Can’t have it both ways. Either we have freedom of religion or we don’t.

But for the record, it means we have won. He now sees that the people don’t like him or his theology. So, like Clinton did he is trying to look center. Not gonna work here. Clinton was just a pervert. Obama is an angry man hell bent on making amends for all those who tortured Jesus and all those he feels are being tortured by us Christians on the other side.

No mention of sin. No mention of a holy God. No mention of a substitutionary death. No mention of Jesus being Deity.

Just religion – which amounts to man’s works to get to God. Not the answer to the problem.

“You must be born again.” – Jesus

“Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’

“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’” – Jesus

People need to understand that being a Christian is not determined by whether you go to church, whether your parents were Christians, or whether you follow the Ten Commandments. Being a Christian is defined by one pivotal point in the Christian’s life, which is the moment (s)he receives the free gift of salvation through Jesus by confessing to God that (s)he is a sinner in need of a Savior and that (s)he accepts the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for all of the sins (s)he has committed and will ever commit. Once you take that first act of faith by praying to God to receive salvation, you are forever saved from the punishment your sins deserve.

Obama said that he came to his Christian faith, basically because he is a good person who wants to takes care of his brothers and sisters. Having been a Christian for 30 years, I can honestly say that I’ve never, ever met another Christian who said, “Before I got saved I was such a good-hearted person, but I became a Christian to be like Jesus so I could make the world a better place.” Give me a break. Apart from Jesus, we are all selfish, self-centered and self-absorbed.

If anyone thinks that trying to be like Jesus is the way to receive God’s free grace (notice it’s free) in order to get into Heaven, that person can rest assured he will be a miserable failure and then, after he dies, he will go to Hell. Furthermore, you can read the Bible until the Second Coming and while you may learn a lot about the fallen nature of mankind, about God’s plan of salvation for mankind and about mankind’s Savior, you have wasted your time if you refuse to act on the knowledge you’ve acquired by receiving the free gift of salvation offered through Jesus. Should Christians try to emulate Jesus? Absolutely, but it won’t affect your eternal salvation when you fail to achieve that impossible standard and the reason you are going to initially turn to Jesus (repent) is because you have realized you’re a sinner in need of salvation.

One final point… Obama said that abortion should be safe, legal and rare, yet he voted in favor of live birth abortions in IL. Do you know what a live birth abortion is? A live birth abortion is when an abortionist induces labor and then places the live baby on a shelf in the clinic until it dies. Some cold hearted people may quibble over whether abortion during the first trimester is infanticide, but noone can quibble over the fact that a baby born and left on a shelf to die is infanticide. Obama is a liar.

Obama is more of a Christian than most of the so called people of faith who post on this website.

Obama is living a Christian life by actually doing something real to help out the poor. Remember in the bible where much of Christ’s life was dedicated to helping out the poor? You can’t miss it. It’s a major theme. Obama managed to pass health insurance reform so that the less affluent need not die because of a lack of insurance. How many bloggers complain about the new law because it costs too much, or it is unfair and punishes the rich who may be required to pay more taxes to support it. How Christian is that?

I would suggest you read your bible a little more because it is obvious you know very little of what is actually in it.

QweeQwa, it seems like you are the one judging. FYI, It’s not being judgmental to point out that someone is a liar, when that person is a liar. Obama said he became a Christian because he wanted to lead the kind of life where he treated others as they would treat him and where he would be his brothers’ and sisters’ keeper. First off, it’s “Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.” (Luke 6:31), not “treat others as they treat you,” so if Obama is counting on his futile efforts to emulate Jesus in order to gain favor with God, he might, at least, want to learn what Jesus said first. How would you like to be in on that conversation when Obama is telling God, “Oh!!!! Do unto others as YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU!!!! Woe!! I really messed that one up… so I guess getting back at all of my political enemies and calling Tea Partiers ‘Tea Baggers’ was THE EXACT OPPOSITE of what you wanted me to do… rrrr… uhhhh… do I get any points for good intentions?” Second, even if Obama weren’t doing the exact opposite of what Jesus teaches us to do, following the Golden Rule does not make someone a Christian. Finally, Obama has a brother whom he abandoned to a hut in Kenya. This is what he thinks it means to be his brother’s keeper? Really?

I honestly want to believe that Obama is a Christian and while I have no idea if he is just saying that Jesus is his savior for political gain, I can say that his political views are the polar opposite of what Jesus teaches and that Obama is a pathological liar.

Eraty, you are correct. 0′s remarks, especially when linked to other remarks he made, is disingenuous at best.

What I find amusing in a troubling sort of way is that 0 says we must respect other religions path to grace. That would tacitly express the thought that all paths lead to heaven. Not to be ‘exclusive’, judgmental or superior, but Jesus said of Himself, “I am the way, the truth and the life! No one comes to the Father but by Me!” HE said that. I just repeat it. That Jesus is the ONLY way to know Father He illustrated when He said any one trying to get into His sheepfold by any other way than the door to the sheepfold are the same as thieves & robbers. He called Himself the door to the sheepfold.

New Test. writers also concurred. Peter said of Jesus: ” Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. ”

Timothy adds: ” For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;…”
I just repeat what these men said. They were eye witnesses to the life, death. burial & resurrection of the Christ so I think they are credible sources of info about Jesus..

I do think though that each individual is free to choose. In Mr. 0′s defense, to a degree, I would say that he was speaking in a public forum so he has, like Glenn, to be cognizant of other folks & their views. No huge problem 4 me considering the context, a public platform, of that particular remark. I did find it note worthy that he did not mention Jesus as His Savior. I also got the impression that Mr. 0 was not very comfortable talking about Jesus or the Bible.

We should remember that 0 had commented earlier about collective salvation, a concept that is not found in the NT. Mr. 0 said that his ‘salvation’ [whatever that means to him] ‘depends on the salvation of ’ the collective’. Any one who has read & studied the NT knows better. IMO 0′s earlier comments together with these should help define & clarify what he said in this video in the fuller context of his religious beliefs.

There is a ‘collective’ in the NT, but it is not what 0 seems to think. In the NT you will find that each individual must repent & place their faith in Jesus Christ‘s to experience God’s salvation that is available to EACH of us.. THEN & only then, are we placed, as individuals, into the ‘collective’ of Christ, which real Christians know as the Body of Christ, His Church or Bride. Those terms refer to the same network of Holy Spirit interlinked individuals of whom Christ is the head..

Mr. 0 is not the 1st Prez or candidate to say they were Christians. Carter IMO lied as did Clinton & Bush. If these men were real, true Christians they would have kept their oath, or at least tried, to defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign & domestic. That they took no stand against the ‘Federal’ Reserve, the freeway into the USA for the one world bankers is only one thing that tells me this. There are many ways they have lied & deceived, some more than others, as the USA has been ‘nudged’ towards a one world govt. 0 seems bent on shoving us there.

What we have going on in DC & globally since 0 was elected, is IMO, the strongest rise of anti-Christ seen yet. I do not think 0 is THE anti-Christ. But I do believe that he & many other US Prezs are & have worked for it, as conduits or channels for world govt under satan, the father of lies
All of them in small or large ways have sold US out to the New World Order that the Sr. Bush mentioned.

Sicboy, you obviously don’t understand that “Mormon’s” and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are the exact same. “Mormon” is the derogatory name based upon the fact that they use that as scripture in conjunction with the Holy Bible. They profess Jesus Christ as their savior. Now, just because they have another book of scripture that teaches of Jesus Christ, doesn’t make them any less eligible to the atonement of Jesus Christ than you or me. The gospel is free to all, and them drink at His well of salvation freely. In the end, we shall judge according to the heart. His Christianity is a convenience and is taken on only when he needs it for votes or sympathy.
A quarter of the electorate have said he is Muslim. Not because of his faith but because of his support role and pandering to the Muslims ( and athiests and communists and any other anti-US foundation). He is a radical revolutionary and views us as an empire-building state who must be brought down into the new world order.
We need to have term limits that limit and hopefully remove career politicians!
