San Diego Drug Tunnel Had Railcar, Tons of Pot

San Diego Drug Tunnel Had Railcar, Tons of PotSAN DIEGO (AP) — Investigators suspect a major drug cartel was the driving force behind two long, sophisticated tunnels connecting Mexico with the U.S. that were discovered this month along with more than 40 tons of marijuana.

Authorities said an underground passage located Thursday was similar to one found earlier — both running around 2,000 feet from Mexico to San Diego and equipped with lighting, ventilation, and a rail system for drugs to be carried on a small cart.

The tunnels are believed to be the work of Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel, headed by that country’s most-wanted drug lord, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, said Mike Unzueta, head of investigations at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in San Diego.

“We think ultimately they are controlled by the same overall cartel but that the tunnels were being managed and run independently by different cells operating within the same organization,” Unzueta said Friday.

The tunnel found Thursday is more than seven football fields in length and extends from the kitchen of a home in Tijuana, Mexico, to two warehouses in San Diego’s Otay Mesa industrial district.

The biggest mistake we made this election was re-electing anybody. If they’ve been in congress more than ten years, they are complicit in the failure of our economy, the wasted effort in the so called “war on drugs” and all the other crimes against the American citizens which they call laws and free or fair trade treaties. It’s all designed to break down borders and promote globalization. America must be dismantled before the final push for global govermnent can be successfully completed and our elected officials are being paid well to accomplish that task.

Simple fix to all in the US. We build a great wall of America. Then you put landmines 200 yards inside the US and 200 yards down (end of tunnel building). Mote inside the US with great white sharks that haven’t eaten in three months, drones, barbwire, 20,000 national guard with weapons this time.

And that should about do it. But that is if you really want to stop the drugs, and all the illegals that are presently entering into our country.

Just my opinion. But at the moment it is a wide open border and has been for over 100 years.

This is just a dog an pony show. The feds only intercept about 4% of all drugs that cross into America. The war on drugs is like every other “war on”, UNSUCCESSFUL. War on Poverty, War on terror, War on illegal immigration, War on illiteracy… all bs. Wars that aren‘t fought with the full force of our military aren’t wars and they usually mean an invasion of Americans rights… oh and they make us pay for it.

Tunnels are a diversion.40 tons cross at guarded, US broder checkpoints every hour via “empty” 53 foot trailers and “empty” containers that are seldom inspected beyond having the doors opened. Drive down to any San Diego County crossing, walk across the border into Mexico and watch the parade of “empty” trailers and/or those carrying auto parts. How many are searched? Amazing.

I never saw the attraction but as they BAN everything we do I can see why people who never did drugs are starting to look into illegal drugs they are MORE acceptable than eating fatty foods, driving a SUV or having a cigarette after a meal in a restruant..and if you know the right doctor you can get enough legal drugs and make BIG PHARM the LEGAL CARTEL richer..

The Business is in American Dollars, no pesos, and besides that they are not just buying drugs, they are also selling weapons to this cartels. Both countries need to work together each one in their side, one controlling the buyers the other controlling the sellers… but as long the consumption continue in big scale, this will continue being a problem hard to resolve knowing that corrupted authorities are involve in both sides.

      I have 2 plates in my neck C7-C6, C6-C5 and 3 in lower back L5-S1, L4-L5 AND L4-L3

When I lived in Hawaii it was much easier to keep the pain down by smoking a small amount of Marijuana every 2 or 3 hours and when I say small I mean 2 puffs. I just need 1 female plant every 6 Months without going to jail so I can slow down the pain. Without it I take ->

      Morphine 60 Mg 3 times a day. = 180 Mgs.
      Oxycontin 20 Mg 3 times a day. = 60 Mgs.
With those I have to take Cymbalta 30 Mg 2 times a day = 60 Mgs. or I think about really really bad things. Plus the Morphine nightmears really suck.
Also I need 20 Mg of Valium to sleep at night or I wake up every 10 or 20 minutes.

If I had 1 or 2 cigarettes a day I could cut the so called “LEGAL DRUGS” by 2/3 or more.
I don’t want to buy it from Mexican Drug Lords, or anywhere. I don’t want anyone to make 1 red cent off of Me. I know how to grow food. I think I could grow this.

Do you think all the LEGAL MEDS are better for Me and My body? It doesn’t feel like it. I haven’t smoke Marijuana for 3 years. I live within the Law, but it‘s My body and I’m in a lot of pain

If you legalized marijuana, and other drugs for that matter, you would eliminate these mexican cartels and other organized crime associated with the trade of marijuana. To explain: The only reason they, the cartels, exist is because the drug is illegal. They can make tons of money by growing and selling it to the US because of this. But if the drug were legalized, people could grow it at home or companies like Marlboro could start to sell it. The prices would be low because of market competition, and if a person can purchase the drug legally then why would you purchase it from a drug dealer? Therefore putting the cartels out of business. Think about it, the only reason organized crime exists is because of things being illegal. Were there drug cartels 100 years ago when marijuana was legal? Were there massively powerful crime families before Prohibition of alcohol? No, there wasn’t. And if legalized, the billions of dollars we’re spending on the drug war could be used for educating children on the hazards of drugs (the anti-smoking campaigns of the 90s worked wonders for my generation).

On another note, comparing smoking weed, which is a harmless vice, to murdering or raping someone is reckless and dangerous. What someone chooses to do in they’re own home is their business and is of no concern to the government. Smoking marijuana almost always only affects the person doing it, while murder is taking the life of another being. It’s called liberty, you’re either for it or against it.

PS Marijuana was first criminalized in the US in the 1930s by progressives. So in a sense your stance on the drugs legality is quite progressive.
