Sanchez on Fox: Business Model Caters to ‘Angry White Guys’

After calling Jon Stewart a “bigot” and saying that news networks are run by Jews on Pete Dominick’s satellite show yesterday, CNN’s Rick Sanchez turned his ire toward Fox News and its audience, calling the viewers “angry white guys” and accusing the network of trying to get them even “angrier”:
The business model is very simple, there’s a bunch of angry white guys out there, so we need to program to them and the angrier we get them the more viewers we’ll have. And they were already angry to begin with so we’ll give them even a little more nudging. … Because if we do that we‘ll get them angrier and they’ll watch more often.
He mentions black teenagers “with their underwear sticking out of their pants” and Hispanics beating up “some white guy’s daughter“ as evidence of Fox pandering to its ”angry,” and seemingly racist, audience. Dominick then sums it up as “race baiting.”
Not done with his tirade, Sanchez adds that the only thing Fox is worried about is getting “more white people to watch” at the expense of making minorities look like they are “lazy” and “freeloaders.”

The CNN management have done themselves no favor in keeping Sanchez on the air as long as they have. He repeatedly shows how terribly unqualified he is to their audience and brings down the credibility of CNN across the globe. This is not to mention the loss of over all trust.

The “Imagine if a Fox host…” did this argument misses the point, the issue isn’t “if he can do it we should be able to do it – it is wrong, plain and simple, and should be condoned widely, loudly, and repeatedly. Anything less runs the risk of being viewed as support for his views.
Personally, I think he’s about to lose his show, and he’s not taking it well – he probably figures if he gets enough spikes in viewership he can keep his show, or go down in a blaze of liberal glory…
