Posted on September 20, 2010 at 7:14amWhat is so troubling is that there is never a problem finding stooges to carry out the asinine orders. Was the uniformed guy with the gun going to shoot the guy with the plastic shovel? There is no doubt that if the newsman continued to dig the officer would have used force to subdue and cuff him. This is where we are in the United States now. Wait until more land is put off limits, when ditches are wetlands, when brush piles are habitats, when you need permits to cut down trees on your own property, when private land is confiscated by government so private developers can put up a mall to generate more tax revenue. Oh, we dont have to wait.

Posted on September 20, 2010 at 6:55amRegrettalby, I feel I will have to be leaving you. I am going to turn myself in for taking films at Yellowstone Nat’l Park, Everglades Nat’l Park, Ft. Jefferson Nat’l Parl, and I have a pretty good idea I will be doing some filming at Crater Lake Nat’l park. I have also, on several occasions, filmed my grandchildren on the beach. I think the only thing I can do is to throw myself to the mercy of the court for my transgressions. Hopefully, my tapes will contain no nation secrets that could get me into futrther trouble.
I may need cigarettes and vasoline in prison. Can I count on anyone to send me care packages?

You expect less idiocy from the government?? Also the frustrated proofreader in me wants to know; just what the hell is a sand “pale”?? Must be something you use to whiten the beach. Maybe it’s also known as beach bleach. I’ll stop now.

Posted on September 20, 2010 at 4:00amI have an idea how about we ammend the constitution forbiding the federal government from owning property within all states. The fed will have to return all lands back to there respective state including nationa parks. Then each state can preserve and use all resorces as it see’s fit. If the fed gov needs property for (military bases, offices, etc…) it can lease it directly from the state or privat owner. Teritories and the Distric of Columbia will be the exception. It would save billions by reducing the size of the federal parks service to the monuments in DC. Only the taxpayers of that state will pay for the parks within the state. And the tax payers of the state will also benifit directly from the use of the land.

Posted on September 20, 2010 at 7:05amI agree. Feds should have no property. They already own massive amounts of land through out the U.S. Maybe even better yet they should sell the land to PRIVATE people.
Report Post »Art1Sec8Clause17
Posted on September 20, 2010 at 7:11pmJust as the Constitution spells it out! Get the —- out! Great idea, the government has no right to own one square inch of this country other than what is granted by the Constitution or ceded by the State concerned.
Report Post »However, 30+% doesn’t seem to be enough. Let the States manage their own lands. We could even let our kids play on the beach again…

Posted on September 21, 2010 at 2:53pmIntriguing idea. Noted. Property and Property Rights is the key. Whether its “sand” on a beach, a bar owner that allows smoking, or the single dollar in my pocket . . . in a free society, a citizen should NEVER be forced by the government to act against his own interest [as long as those interest are legal].

Posted on September 20, 2010 at 3:39amStupid laws like this get piled on top of more stupid laws every year. Too many laws we need a complete wipe of the books and a rewrite. Give us back our freedoms every last one, no matter how silly or small it may seem to be.

Posted on September 20, 2010 at 1:36amAs I see it , it looks like they buried the oil deposits under six inches of sand .. Now they dont want anybody to know… The part that gets me is that the guys working there on the beach are now digging down through the six inches of sand cover to remove the oil deposits . Not that they would remove the oil then put down the sand , that would be to easy.. If that isnt a union job I dont know what is..

Posted on September 21, 2010 at 4:56pmAs long as you don’t bury your head below 6 inches—it’s okay. Any deeper and you’d be in violation of the regulation. Lesson- don’t have a camera, crew, a sand pail and shovel, and press papers on the beach–then dig in the sand and document it with video. Modify Buffalo Springfield’s song..a man’s gonna take you away….what a crock that the public beach can’t be used by the people.
