Sandra Fluke: A Fake Victim of Georgetown’s Policy on Contraceptives?

Since her controversial testimony on February 23, Sandra Fluke has been called many things, from a heroine to a “slut,” but actually, she may just be a fake. Gateway Pundit and Hot Air suggest that may be the case, with citations to a post by Jammie Wearing Fools that introduces the following interesting information:

For me the interesting part of the story is the ever-evolving “coed”. I put that in quotes because in the beginning she was described as a Georgetown law student. It was then revealed that prior to attending Georgetown she was an active women’s right advocate. In one of her first interviews she is quoted as talking about how she reviewed Georgetown’s insurance policy prior to committing to attend, and seeing that it didn’t cover contraceptive services,  she decided to attend with the express purpose of battling this policy. During this time, she was described as a 23-year-old coed. Magically, at the same time Congress is debating the forced coverage of contraception, she appears and is even brought to Capitol Hill to testify. This morning, in an interview with Matt Lauer on the Today show, it was revealed that she is 30 years old,  NOT the 23 that had been reported all along.

Though there aren’t links in the original post to the content mentioned, a little digging shows that it’s all true. Fluke has described herself as a third year law student at Georgetown University, and indeed, that is what she is. However, contrary to the narrative of innocent victimhood that portrays Fluke as a wide-eyed 23-year-old girl caught without contraception on a college campus full of predatory men, Fluke herself is really a 30-year-old women‘s rights activist who not only didn’t get caught without contraception at Georgetown, but specifically knew the university didn’t cover it and chose to attend for precisely that reason.

First, there‘s the matter of Fluke’s age. In a segment on Fluke’s battle with Rush Limbaugh, MSNBC reporter Anne Williams called Fluke “the 23-year-old Georgetown law student, prohibited from testifying.” Yet Fluke’s own Linkedin profile reveals a more mature woman:

Sandra Fluke Is Really 30 Years Old And Went to Georgetown Knowing Contraception Wasnt Covered

In fact, according to that profile, she graduated from college in 2003. Barring Fluke being a child prodigy who somehow graduated college at the age of 15, this would make her at least 30 years old:

Sandra Fluke Is Really 30 Years Old And Went to Georgetown Knowing Contraception Wasnt CoveredIt‘s worth noting the massive number of women’s issues groups Fluke was involved in, even while in college.

Now, to be fair, Fluke’s age could have been misreported by the media. Most 3rd year law students are at least 25, and they could have confused her for being an undergraduate senior rather than a 3rd year law student.

The idea that Fluke is herself an unwitting victim of Georgetown’s policy on contraceptives is another matter entirely. In several interviews, especially following Rush Limbaugh’s attack, Fluke has implicitly included herself in the group of women who allegedly unwittingly suffer as a result of Georgetown’s policies. This is a key point for the Democrats supporting her, for if Fluke did happen to read Georgetown’s insurance policy before coming and decide to come anyway, that would, at best, undermine her spokeswoman status.

But what if she not only decided to attend the university anyway, but decided to attend specifically so she could fight this battle? Consider this passage from an early Washington Post story done on Fluke before she was permitted to testify:

Fluke came to Georgetown University interested in contraceptive coverage: She researched the Jesuit college’s health plans for students before enrolling, and found that birth control was not included. “I decided I was absolutely not willing to compromise the quality of my education in exchange for my health care,” says Fluke, who has spent the past three years lobbying the administration to change its policy on the issue. The issue got the university president’s office last spring, where Georgetown declined to change its policy.

Fluke says she would have used the hearing to talk about the students at Georgetown that don’t have birth control covered, and what that’s meant for them. “I wanted to be able to share their stories,” she says. “My testimony would have been about women who have been affected by their policy, who have medical needs and have suffered dire consequences.. . .The committee did not get to hear real stories I had to share, about actual women who have been dramatically affected by this policy.”

That’s right. It seems Fluke intentionally chose to go to Georgetown so she could agitate and sway them to cover contraceptives. She then went to a hearing as a representative of women who hadn‘t known about Georgetown’s policy until it was too late. Unsympathetic observers might liken this to James O’Keefe attending a hearing to speak against ACORN on behalf of pimps. It certainly raises the question of why the women Fluke claims to speak for couldn’t present their stories for themselves.

Indeed, in a video made after she was denied the opportunity to testify, Fluke raises two “stories” from women who had emailed her, supposedly about their non-sex-related need of contraceptive medicine. She does not identify the emailers by name, or even by school, saying simply that they are students at an unnamed Catholic University:

If Fluke’s stories are real, many will likely call on her to let the women who sent them speak for themselves and stop hogging the spotlight, given that she did choose to attend Georgetown knowing full well what its policy was on contraceptives, and with every indication of being willing to risk the price tag — whether that price tag would be $3000 over 3 years or not.

Is there not a place that is not tainted by the deception connected to regulations which Obama wants to become law? We cannot trust these people who make 2000 page bills knowing that somewhere in that law anyone in the country will become a felon and can be carted off to jail. Apparently she is the golden child of the Obamanites, showing up out of nowhere, or being groomed by the party.

And on a related side note…

I’m still trying to figure out what Ron Paul mean’t when he said “honest rape during his Piers Morgan interview?“ Is that opposed to ”dishonest rape?’ I see Ron Paul the politician conflicted with Ron Paul the doctor when it comes to “emergency contraception.” He seems to be rather vague…almost a purposeful and deliberate wishy washyness. It‘s like he’s talking out of both sides of his mouth… to appeal to both sides on the issue. The doctor, the politician.

To abort or not to abort… that is the real question…

It is not a contraception mandate at all. It is an abortion/pill mandate. Consider these college women Fluke alludes to are having multiple partners. The only safe contraception would be condoms or abstinence since STDs cannot be stopped by the pill. So they must be after something else because obviously these educated women would know that. Since condoms are the cheapest form of contraception and protection nowhere near $3K it appears they are after something else at our expense

I didn’t find it to be that ambiguous when Ron Paul said “honest rape” during that interview. What he meant was a situation in which someone was really, truly raped, as opposed to a woman who had consensual sex, became impregnated, and then waited 6 months and suspiciously purports that she was raped (in order to get an abortion).

Ron Paul’s opinion here is pretty simple. It isn’t a question of the benefits or drawbacks of contraceptives, it’s a question of whether or not government can force private or religious employers/insurance companies to provide contraceptives and to potentially violate their personal beliefs. On abortion, his personal opinion is to protect the sanctity of life, but he would not impose his opinion and would instead allow the states the power to decide, under the 10th Amendment.

Congress does NOT (is not supposed to) regulate/legislate ROE (Rules of Engagement)…the PRESIDENT/MILITARY DOES!!! This is why Dr. Paul voted against the amendment STUPID! Our military and generals determine ROE…the president can supercede those rules but Congress has NO say. Turns out if you voted for the amendment you’re anti Constitution.
By Congress legislating ROE or whatever, they are essentially tying the hands of the military via legislation and regulations…so it is YOU and the DOLTS who voted for the amendments that are anti military.

The rest of America uses this secret method we stole from rocket scientists… We budget.
We calculate our “needs” and add that to the cost of college. If we cannot afford the total, junior just has to go to a cheaper college. That’s how it works for blue-collar Americans! But, the intellectual elitists like this, er, “person” and like obama, do the same math, but come up with an answer of “TAKE THE MONEY FROM SOMEBODY ELSE”. Even if that somebody else believes you are taking THEIR MONEY, for murder!

Even if your “needs” are cases of condoms, kegs of beer, and truckloads if pizza…
You still do the math before enrolling in college. You include room and board, tuition, books, fees, fees, fees, fees, fees, and fees, and then you round up a bit for inflation and unexpected expenses like professors going on strike jacking up tuition, etc.
If junior calls you and says, “Hey, Pops, I need $3,000.00 for rubbers,” what is going to be yor reply? To your own son? You’ll say something along the lines of, “HELL NO!” followed by a lecture on how he is supposed to be studying, and how he should respect himself and women and therefore not “need” $3,000 worth of rubbers.
But these obama elitists want to skip all that and make it legal to TAKE the money FROM TOTAL STRANGERS!!

Only Ron Paul can tell you what he meant by “honest rape” but my guess would be that he was alluding to the fact that rape, while being one of the most unreported crimes, is also one of the most falsely reported crimes. Being a doctor he would be well aware of this fact. Also, if you made abortion legal when the mothers life is in jeopardy and in cases of rape and incest, it doesn’t take a genius to conjecture that some women might falsely report rape in order to get an abortion.

I don’t get why this is an issue at all. The old saying “Just vote with your feet” should apply here. If it’s that important for a person to have someone else pay for their contraception, then they could just choose to attend a non-sectarian school, or they could obtain contraception from Planned Parenthood, or any number of other places who give it out. Not to mention the obvious here, but with tuition at Georgetown being about 65K’s a year, this woman shouldn’t have a problem coughing up a little more for birth control, and if she does she can do like the rest of us and adjust her ambitions to fit her own budget, without trying to dip into someone else’s.

I heard that ahe said her contraceptives cost her $3,000 per year. I priced condoms today (as a mother of 7, I didn’t know) and did some math. $3,000 would buy her about 7,500 condoms a year. Now my sons want to go to Georgetown.

I believe she said the $3,000 was “during law school” which depending upon how you count that could be 8 years or simply 2.

Eiher way she went on to equate that to an entire summer’s salary instead of differentiating 8 years x $3,000 (summer) = $24,000 – $3,000 and it was a deceptive comparison. If it is costing only $375 per year it doesn’t sound nearly as good.

birth control with out insurance can go 100$ or more a month without insurance. Making cost of
1200$ a year. So 3 years about 3k 8years 8k and based of that condom math thats a lot of sex. If do not want to get pregnant use condoms thier far cheaper and can buy them only when plan on having sex wich will make them significantly cheaper and of course there is the option of not having sex untill your ready for a family. Condoms also have the bonus of stoping most std’s of course not havindg sex would make it so you dont either. Also birth control has health risks to it and side effects when you use them. Condoms do not unless your allergic to latex then use a different brand. Then there again is dont do it untill your ready for the responsibility that comes with sex.

yes generics would be in the 375$ range a year as well god knows why the hell doctors allways recomend the expensive stuff when you have insurance. When the generic have the exact same ingrediants as the brand name. We pay way to much for a name.

If you assume 8 years of condoms totalling $3,000 and a cost per condom of $.25 that works out to a little over 4 condoms per day. Rush was being his conservative self when he called her a slut. I would say she was a sex addicted nymphomaniac with low self esteem and a need to fill a void in her life.

Sometimes we get caught up wanting to call them what they call us, or how they treat us with such

Second her purposes for the contraceptives are for pure pleasure and if the government is going to mandate paying for an individuals pure pleasure needs, I want to know where my vaction check to travel the world is and which insurer is going to be required to pay for it.

Well, I think after reading all these posts & seeing all the news media granted to this Fluke, I would be willing to kick in to have this woman fixed permanently or lobotomized or whatever extreme procedure it would take so her troubles would be over. I just cannot imagine how miserable she must be when she can’t find someone to pay for her sexual intercourse or maybe no one will have sex with her any more or it might even be that she has become a complete turnoff because she runs credit checks on all her partners before she goes out & finds out no one has health insurance to cover her definitions of birth control. How sad. If she would just submit to a simple out patient procedure, she would never have to worry about getting pregnant again & we wouldn’t have to worry about her getting pregnant & indoctrinating more just like her. We could eliminate this problem from the gene pool before it becomes an issue.

To be sure, there are non-sexual reasons for birth control. I have a condition with few platelets, without birth control, I would not stop bleeding (sorry, tmi I know!).

Whatever the reason you need the medicine, you should pay for it yourself. If you can’t afford it, there are plenty of low income medical insurers out there (medicare anyone?). Furthermore, all college students UP TO 26 YEARS OLD! can still be on their parents insurance.

There is no reason for this testimony. The protections this woman seeks are already in place; this is merely a smear campaign to bring down religious institutes.

Whether she is a fluke or not doesn’t really matter. I don’t believe that I should have to pay for her pills no matter what kind they are. If she is the one that needs them then she can buy insurance to cover them where it will come out of her pocket not mine.
If the insurance company doesn‘t cover that then they shouldn’t be forced to. It’s not like cancer or heart trouble. She is knowingly participating in something she knows that can get her pregnant. So she is the one responsible for keeping her legs closed or buying the pill.

How many more administrative people will be necessary to make sure that this “Dictate” of free contraception is being followed, the paperwork submitted and correctly filed. Who will pay for that? Bottom line, the tax payer, therefore I am, as a taxpayer, paying for her ability to have free sex without consequences under the Obama mandate.

Of course, now that the Fed is printing money and devaluing our dollar, it isn’t all coming from us, but it is coming out of our hide!

If the ‘insurance companies“ are forced to ”pay” for these added benefits, the premium charged the employer will just go up to compensate the number of employees/students who are to be covered. If the employer is SELF INSURED, and many religious organizations Catholic, Mainline and Evangelical are SELF INSURED, they don’t by from and “insurance company,” they pool money to cover expenses, THE EMPLOYER WILL BE BEING “FORCED” TO PAY THESE BENEFITS”! Some employers will choose to go out of business.

The RATIONALIZATIONS of the Jesuits of Georgetown and elsewhere, and other liberal/socialistic leaders within the Catholic Church have brought us to where we are now. The “rules” of the Church haven’t changed, but many thought they should, so they went their own way explaining away the rules, believing that God changes, but He is changeless, “… Therefore, CHOOSE LIFE… ” Deaut 30:19.

In the U.S., the government has NO RIGHT to FORCE AN EMPLOYER to provide a benefit that is antithetical to the employer’s belief system, whether an organization or an individual employer with strong faith.

WE THE PEOPLE were given RIGHTS from our Creator, God. The government as an entity were given no such rights, but must be managed BY and FOR the PEOPLE, through legally enacted LAWS, NOT THROUGH THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM OR nor the mandates of a DICTATOR!

Sure that private insurance companies pay for this; but nothing is for free. What happens is, the insurance companies will apply the cost of said medication across the board in higher premiums. Indirectly that might not be called a tax, yet in reality, it equates to the same thing. For you and your left utopian believers it is still a bill that we should not have to pay. To pay for this is equating to slavery. I should not have to pay for someone else to benefit from my tax dollars, unless they “need” it. Excluding the military, which I have no problem paying for because they are protecting our rights.

I agree, we should not have to pay for her having fun sexxing around Georgetown. I think Rush is right in calling her a slut, although I believe that is a mild description of her!

Georgetown is “Catholic” in name only! Thanks to Obama all the phony Catholics are now free to do their false beliefs, because their pope is in the White House and not in the Vatican.

You didn’t read her testimony, did you? LOL! If using contraceptives makes someone a “slut” then that’s our whole country! Are you saying you never do? ‘Cause that’s not safe! I hope you know how to use a love-glove!

I certainly thonk that contraceptive use is wise. Does it make her a slut ? Not necessarily. Is she a liar? Most likely. I think Georgetown would have every reason to tell her she’s no longer going to be enrolled involuntarily as a violation of their policies. I would bet that there are incongruities on her application for admittance to G~Town. If so, she should be barred from continuing for lying.

I would also hope future hiring attorneys and judges are on notice to read her CV and her congressional testimony before even considering her.

@theladypatriot How, if you are married to a faithful man and can no longer get pregnant because of a surgery is it not safe to not use contraceptives? Not everyone gets it from strangers.
I feel sorry for you if you feel that way.

Certainly not a heroine, not a slut.

Most of these people are fakes. What’s new?

I’m with you. I think someone with the means to do so should try to uncover more on this.

She’s a “paid stoodge” by those who are paying for her education and whomever else they’ve now arranged to push her forward!
