Santa Monica Proposal to Ban Circumcision Will be Dropped

The primary individual behind a Santa Monica ballot measure that would ban circumcision has officially dropped the “Prohibition of Genital Cutting of Male Minors” proposal due to the perception that it is an attack on religious freedom. The woman, Jena Troutman, originally submitted the initiative to the Santa Monica City Clerk on May 19. Yesterday, she told The Jewish Journal that she would withdraw the proposed ban:
“It shouldn’t have been about religion in the first place,” Troutman told the Jewish Journal. “Ninety-five percent of people aren’t doing it for religious reasons, and with everyone from the New York Times to Glenn Beck focusing on the religious issue, it’s closing Americans down to the conversation.”
…In the interview, Troutman also distanced herself from MGMbill.org, a San Diego-based organization led by Matthew Hess, the author of the “Foreskin Man” cartoon, which has been roundly criticized in recent days as anti-Semitic.
Over the weekend, The Blaze covered this controversial cartoon.
This measure shouldn’t be confused with a similar one that is scheduled to appear on the San Francisco ballot this November. This particular ban would criminalize the circumcision of a boy before the age of 18 (offenders would be slapped with a misdemeanor, with the potential of a year in jail and a 1,000 fine). If this regulation becomes law, circumcisions will only be allowed for medical reasons.

The parents should not have the right to authorize a medical procedure to remove skin on a 1 day old, but can authorize a medical procedure that will kill the child only weeks earlier. They are crazy people who tried to tell us how to raise our children. We did believe in breast feeding our children, but these people pushed other things. There is no christian reason for doing it.
The Myth of doing it for health is myth due to modern showers & bath.
It is a circular ring knife that is used, the baby strapped down and no anesthesia due to young age.
The Mohel I contacted explained the ceremony, but would not perform it as we were Christian
They at least give the child a taste of wine.
There are nerves in the foreskin that could enhance pleasure, I don’t know.
The only modern reason is a higher risk of aids,
but if one is selective and tested that risk is managed.
In the end we opted out.
It was an educated choice, NOT LAW.
This LAW has anti-semetic roots more than obviously and should be struck down by voters.

The Left doesn’t have to be explicitly for something with words; much more is often said with silence. While Western feminists complain about ‘glass ceilings’ and patriarchy and all that old nonsense, real crimes against women are occurring around the world. While Islam isn’t the only practitioner of FGM, it is the largest religion to do so. It was outlawed in Egypt in 1996, but a judge overturned the law in 1997 because Moslem clerics there went bonkers.
Sometimes silence speaks volumes, especially when certain groups claim to be the final arbiters of what serves women’s issues the best.
