Santorum Assails Obama, not Romney in Concession Speech

After suffering a staggering blow in both the Michigan and Arizona Primaries, Rick Santorum looked forward to Super Tuesday, focusing on health care and the economy. Delivering a concession speech in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Tuesday night, Santorum had scathing words for President Obama more than for his rival Mitt Romney and and positioned himself  as the candidate to beat in 2012.

“We came into the backyard of one of my opponents, in a race that everyone said, just ignore, you really don’t have much chance here,” Santorum said. “All I have to say is, ‘I love you back.’”

Below are some of the highlights from Santorum’s speech, courtesy of TPM:

The stats indicate that Santorum lost to Romney in MI because of the infamous robocalls. Serves him right. For the first time in the campaign, Santorum won the Democrat vote (imagine a Dim ever liking Santorum). According to Pat Caddell, Santorum also won by *16 points* those who STRONGLY OPPOSE THE TEA PARTY.

Slick Rick should write thank-you notes to all those lib rats who voted for him. He lost the state because of his shenanigans, but gained some delegates he didn’t deserve. I believe Santorum would have lost BIG TIME in MI if voters had found out about the robocalls sooner, since he was beating Romney by a significant margin until Tuesday.

Is this the kind of man you want for president? I’m sick of these corrupt Washington insiders (Perfect Paul included). Methinks most evangelicals regret endorsing this guy.

Ok so wait a minute. Conservatives have been talking and talking for months on how Romney is the only one that is moderate enough to win the general election. That means he‘s moderate enough to take away some of Obama’s base vote and win over dems that are blue dog. However, now that Santorum is going after that to defeat Romney it‘s all the sudden that he’s a snake in the grass consorting with the enemy. You can’t have it both ways. You either hope that our candidate can win over moderates and blue dog dems or you don’t. Just admit it if you want Romney to win and he’s your candidate. I don’t know why you have to pull anything at all out of your hat to discredit the other candidate. If your precious Romney can’t win in a fair fight maybe he should be the one to pull out. Just saying.

The difference is that Santorum is going after the Democrats, who would never vote for Santorum in the general election, to defeat Romney. Santorum isn’t winning those Democrats on ideas, he is “winning” them by claiming he’s the easier target for Obama to defeat.

Fair fight? Don’t make me laugh. YOU are spinning the facts. The Cheat-in-Chief himself was behind this. He mobilized his unions to vote for Santorum. Santorum knew about the Obama plan to rig the vote, but instead of denouncing it, he gladly joined in the treachery.

Don’t deceive yourself, Mama (I don’t know about the Patriot part). The neo-liberal youthful idiots voted for Paul, as they have up to now. They are a loyal bunch. They represent Paul’s 17%, even though he was absent. Now guess who the true moderate Dems voted for? Romney. Romney is their man. They see Romney as a moderate conservative, and a businessman who can jump-start the economy. Santorum got the Obama unions, and you know it. The overwhelming 52% of Obama’s marching civilian army marched in and voted for Santorum.

Don’t “precious Romney” me. If you think rigging elections is OK, then Santorum is your man, alright.

      @DISENLIGTHENED:
I live in Connecticut, a deep blue state.
If I ran for the US Senate and won, as a Conservative Republican, I still represent my state.
Once in the Senate, should I vote my core convictions in spite of the people in my state?
If that is how you think it works, you are misinformed.
I would not have the right to vote what I believe over what the people in my state believe.
In all honesty, I would never run because I would not be able to do that, nor would I get elected.
But, for those folks that do run, as Conservatives, and get elected, it is a very tough task. It does require compromising. If you come from the “all or nothing” school of thought, it would never happen.
So, moving forward, factor that into your assessment of any politician that compromises their beliefs for the sake of the electorate that put them in the office.

I agree with your argument. That is why MA got “Romneycare.” It is unfair to blame him for state health care. Unlike Obama, he listened to the voice of the people. Nevertheless, he tried hard to stop it from becoming a liberal-style takeover of health care. He has repeatedly explained the difference between his health care plan and Obama’s, but Republicans derive some sick pleasure in repeating liberal lies against Republicans. Our party suffers from a bad case of masochism.

Don’t define what Santorum did as a moderate attempt to compromise. Santorum joined with the Obama unions to give Romney the coup de grâce, and it backfired. I salute MI Republicans who took a moral stance and refused to vote for that sleazebag after they found out about the robocalls.

Remember, Han shot first! I mean, Gingrich attacked Romney first, in November. Romney has always had his focus on Obama, except when he was attacked and needed to turn his attention to keep a front-runner status. This happened to Perry, Gingrich, and Santorum. With Santorum, Romney had been attacked by him since at least December, but Romney never responded until Santorum gained some momentum… in Feb.

    Our “Scary” President

Less than four months into the presidency of Barack Hussein Obama, Lou Pritchett, a former vice president of Procter and Gamble, posted an open letter to Obama on his blog which began, “Dear President Obama: You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.”

The original missive had been sent by the legendary corporate legend, noted public speaker, author, and teacher to the New York Times which chose not to print it although less distinguished publications did. It was subsequently accorded the seal of accuracy by leftist-leaning Snopes.com and only now has gone viral.

In retrospect, it’s understandable why the Times, a principal MSM Obama lackey, wanted no part of Pritchett’s letter but Obamians predictably came out in force to condemn Pritchett for his stupidity, ignorance, inaccuracies, and venom for daring to express his viewpoints on their Anointed One.

The letter reflects the author’s early and insightful realization that America was in serious trouble with our new leader and commander-in-chief.

Just months into Obama’s tenure, Pritchett noted Obama was unfit for office by virtue of his murky background, lack of experience and qualifications, radical past associations, arrogant sense of omnipotence and omniscience, his demonization of all opponents, and his extreme spending and health care plans which have since come to fruition.

Here is something to check out and ponder about Romney: given his extremely dirty tactics with the attack ads he puts forth against his oponents (and incidentally cries like a little girlie man “unfair” when someone does something like robo calls). Anyway it appears there is a Saul Alinsky connection to the Romeny familty. Daddy Romeny who was a RINO liberal (Mitt a chip off the ole block perhaps?) Daddy Romney actually turned to Alinsky and told people to listen to him. Listen to the guy who dedicated his book “Rules for Radicals” to Satan. Romney is a phony, ambitious opportunist who will say whatever is necessary to get the nomination. His flips and flops don’t even have conviction. And as someone said “you are only allowed so many flip flops before people start questioning your character” Romney is way past his limit.

If you believe in God, you have to believe that Romney’s campaign has also been touched by His finger. I mean the guy has fought an uphill battle against the DNC war machine, the MSM, 75% of Talk Radio (Rush, Beck, Levin, Erickson, Van Sustren, etc, etc), Fox News (supposedly fair and balanced), and, of course, his regular Republican opponents that have used the Leftist lies spewed by Democrat operatives of class warfare, distortions of truth and flat out lies. (Santorum is *still* claiming that Romney supports Cap and Trade, which he does NOT, never has, and can never have been construed that he did.)

The only thing Romney has going for him is EXCELLENT preparation, hard work (he helped a bunch of people get re-elected in 2010, and campaigned for support this year, and got supporters up and running in each state so that he would qualify for EVERY ballot), he did the hard work of getting the big money backers, but he also has a large contingent of grassroots donors. God helps those who help themselves. So, to counter the free advertising talk radio and Fox are giving to Santorum and Gingrich, Romney has to spend money, which he has because of the prep and hard work.

Yep, with all of these forces combined against him, Romney complained of the second really dirty tactic his opponents have used against him. Santorum called on Democrats not to vote FOR Santorum, but to vote AGAINST Romney. There is a big difference. The first really dirty tactic was using the Left’s class warfare tactic.

    1. Romney’s RomneyCare makes it impossible for him to slaughter OBastard on ObamaCare, his single biggest vulnerability

    2. Romney is way too timid and reserved to stand up against a bombastic OBastard

    3. Romney has only been able to win by spending huge sums on dirt advertising. That will NOT work against OBastard, who will have $1Billion and can ALWAYS trump Romney’s dirt advertising.

My suggestion: either cowboy up and stop pretending to be a conservative with scruples; or, get back on your meds; or, spend more time with your PlayStation instead of big-boy topics like politics. If you need help with any of these, just give a holler. I’m always ready to assist a socialist with identity issues.

Staggering blow? Losing the a state filled with LDS folks and snowbirds to Mitt the Flipster…not staggering at all. Losing to Romney in Mitt’s home state by 3 percent after being attacked with Romney lies and hypocrisy is not a staggering.

Romney is the one stumbling and staggering…he’s been campaigning 5 years with the establishment & media fully and firmly behind him, he has large ground crews, large road crews, and supersized slash and burn crews, he’s got all the money in the world, a giant superpac, and to date he and his cronies have spent 50 million tearing down Gingrich and Santorum with lies and hypocrisy —-> and where has it gotten him? The same place he’s always been…

Mitt’s a poor candidate – he keeps proving it by losing election after election…He lost decades ago, he lost 4 years ago, he knew he would lose running for a second term as gov, he’s lost the majority of the counties and almost half the states to Santorum, he lost another to Gingrich and he will lose Oklahoma, Georgia, Tenn., Penn., and Ohio real soon…and plenty more shortly thereafter.

Mitt’s unelectable because he is a fake conservative…he‘s a conservative because the liberals won’t have him. He has no campaign message other than the tired line of I’m the best at everything that you want to hear today, I have the most money, I’m the best positioned, and his countless bogus attack points that make him sound like a fake, robotic, no message hypocrite. http://santor

People really are deluding themselves into believing Mitt Romney winning will make everything better. Why exactly are you guys voting for Mitt Romey? To beat Barack Obama? What are you replacing him with? You really don‘t believe he’s not going to start his health initiative again when he’s in the White House, do you? Or that he’s going to give any effort into reigning in the Federal Reserve? http://www.thepoliticalguide.com/Profiles/Governor/Massachusetts/Mitt_Romney/views/The_Federal_Reserve/

This race, most likely, will be decided at the convention —>and if Mittens does not come up with something better than he has so far in this race —> he is toast. Santorum is the GOP candidate that is inspiring the base & stimulating grassroots support. Romney has not brought many new folks in to get behind him, while Santorum, on a shoestring, has risen to the top of the GOP pack…Santorum is clearly the people’s choice.

Mitt will never be the people‘s choice because he’s a man of money, and a varey fake conservative, and on top of that he’s a terrible actor. He’s not fooling true conservatives and we all know Obama is a much better actor than Mitt Romney —> that’s why Romney would get crushed in November. Rick is convictions conservative that has been elected 4 times in a tough state. Santorum knows how to battle and he knows how to win tough races. Rick Santorum is a true full spectrum conservative and he is a true convictions conservative that will easily defeat Obama in the fall.

Flaming liberal? Santorum is one of the most conservative folks in the party with a proven track record. He authored welfare reform in the house and then he pushed it through in the senate. How many other folks have rid of us of an entitlement program? How much more conservative do you want? Rick wrote bills for sanctions on Iran long before anyone else got on the ball with Iran. Rick helped exposed the white house PO scandal and corruption, and of course nobody is more pro right to life and family values than Mr. Santorum is.

Mr. Santorum has the best plan to rebuild America from the ground up…starting with the manufacturing sector and Rick has explained himself on the right-to-work issue.

If you actually looked at his record you will see he gets 100% lifetime rating from the NRA and he was rated in the top 5 fiscally conservative repub. senators when he served.

Rick is the right man for the job…he is energizing the base, tea party, evangelicals, and the grass roots…Romney is doing none of this…what Romney has gotten so far was stolen from the real conservatives Gingrich and Santorum with bogus, hypocritical attack ads that are disingenuous at best —> and at worst hurt the party’s chances in Nov. In-other-words Mitt is destroying himself and the party trying to disguise his liberal record and his liberal views. http://santorumsupporters.com

You are worried if Obama gets four more which is good. If by some miracle Obama lost you think Mitt or Rick are cutting spending? Maybe they will bring our troops home and stop endless overseas warmongering? Maybe they will be for more freedoms for Americans instead of passing laws “for our own good”. Nevermind, I just remembered who i was talking about.

Mitt a self proclaimed progressive that has been pro gun laws, he has be non pro life, he thinks the NDAA protects Americans, and he thinks we should continue our unConstitutional wars.

      Or

Rick, a guy that voted for everything Bush wanted, has supported democrats, has been pro gun laws, in the 90s was pro choice, and doesnt believe in individual freedoms.

Either way we go, Obama or any of the three clones we get the same results. I am hoping when my part of the country breaks away from the liberals and progressives we will have a Constitution similar to the one of the former United States of America.

      @ martinez012577,

Well after that spiel, I believe that Rick or Newt should be the Republican candidate. Mitt Romney’s victory speech came across to me as stilted. He has no inkling on how to connect with ordinary people. Mitt Romney grew up as a Mormon. This is NOT how the majority of the people grew up in the USA. Truly, I have nothing against Mormons, since all Mormons that I have met have been really nice people. The thing with Mitt, is that he really needs to become comfortable in his own skin.

Rick Santorum is 100% correct that if Obama gets re-elected, Obama will take that as license to continue on his path to destroy the system of Capitalism in the USA. Besides that, Obama has already trashed the first amendment of our Constitution – where we are supposed to have religious freedom. Obama Care is in direct conflict with the tenets of the Roman Catholic Church. How can our government tell Catholics that they MUST embrace birth control, in any form, when it goes against their religious beliefs? Just say NO to the clown, Obama in 2012.
