Santorum Blasts Romney on Health Care: ‘You Just Don’t Have Credibility’

Roughly half an hour in to CNN’s GOP presidential debate Tuesday evening, candidates Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum sparred over the health care plan Romney passed while governor of Massachusetts dubed “Romenycare.”
Santorum blasted the plan, saying, “You just don’t have credibility on Obamacare, Mitt…you have no track record that we can trust you that you’re gonna do that (and repeal it).”
Politico shares what was said:
Romney: “This is something that was crafted for Massachusetts.” He mentions he said that in his book.
Santorum: “That’s not what you said…you took it out of your book.”
They interrupted each other for awhile, cutting into each other until Romney repeatedly said, “Rick, you had your chance, let me speak…it was something that was crafted for a state.”
He added, “The people of Massachusetts like it by a 3 to 1 margin.”
Newt Gingrich joined in with a much more nuanced attack, saying it’s not Obamacare, but also a “big government” plan, and “a heck of a lot more than your campaign is admitting.”

TWO candidates saw it as a matter of PAYING NV ENOUGH MONEY and only Ron Paul said IT WAS A CONSTITUTIONAL STATES RIGHT ISSUE!
What do you think? Does a slick politician with MONEY solve America’s problems, or is the CONSTITUTION the answer?

Posted on October 19, 2011 at 2:48amSorry Romney has plenty of credibility. Santorum‘s claim that Romney’s consultants, good thing he called them consultants instead of advisers, went to talk to Obama about ObamaCare is right but that consultant has his own mind and why should Romney be hit with the fact that an Economist consultant, not a health care policy consultant when to talk to Obama. Even if he was a health care consultant, it wouldn’t matter. He didn’t send them, they went themselves. Who says they talked about RomneyCare as something to model ObamaCare off of, you don’t think the CONSULTANT could know other programs than just RomneyCare, he could have consulted on the Universal Health Care which is definately not what RomneyCare is.
And today Gingrich admitted that the individual mandate was a conservative program to combat Hillarycare and as a model, which they tested in Massachusetts, but only in a state realm that wasn’t as good as everyone was hoping for. It was not for the Federal govt. The book claim has been proven to be mostly false, the accusing candidates need to finish the sentence that was removed from the book, it talks about getting govt out of the system.

Posted on October 19, 2011 at 2:50amRomney has plenty of credibility when it comes to the economy and business and that is the number one issue of America. Here is Romney’s new ad he just put out, sadly it attacks Perry in doing so but it shows Obama’s failed employment record: http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2011/oct/romney_perry_obama_jobs.html

Posted on October 19, 2011 at 3:01pmI’m a healthcare consultant and I completely agree with you. The healthcare consultant has an independent agenda and they will consult with anyone to get billable hours. This whole conversation is a red herring put out by Axelrod and Obama and the supposed conservatives on this site as well as Rush Limbaugh are eating it up. That is why I have probably been,I admit over the top, when it comes to defending Romney on the Romneycare issue.
The other thing Romney should have emphasized last night but didn’t have the time since people kept interrupting him was the political environment in MA in 2006 in MA. 87% of the legislature were liberal democrats. They over rode hundreds of Romney’s vetos. They were the ones responsible for the costly amendments to Romneycare. Romney would veto and the legislature would over ride the vetos. So for today’s governor to blame Romney for the cost over runs is really quite inaccurate.

Posted on October 19, 2011 at 2:08amI voted for Romney in 2008 because he was our only hope. I really like him but he hasn‘t done a 360 a la Regean as I’d hoped. So, I go to Perry and he flops in the debates. Cain is so-so for me. Independents will not like his inexperience in government. Bachmann had me in June and I was excited until the Gardisil moment. She shouldnt have explored that topic in the depth that she did. Gingrich is unelectable. So now I’m leaning Paul. I like his fiscal plan. That is all that should be discussed in these debates, but the morons on stage let the liberal moderators control the tone.
No. I’m waiting for one of them to take charge and propagate their ideas regarding the most serious issues facing the country. A lot can be learned from Bill Clinton’s campaign (primary) and Obama’s presidential run. Just stay on message and pound it into the heads of the people. Bill made people believe that the economy was bad when it was actually good. Please, one of you morons convince me I should vote for you in the primaries.

Both Perry and Santorum have turned me off of them, I don’t like those kind of low ball attacks, really, attacking someone because their lawn care company hired illegals? Good luck finding anyone to mow your lawn in AZ!

And don‘t forget that if you don’t have insurance in MA, that you will be penalized and billed for socialist healthcare whether you have a job or not.
But I would never do this if I ran a whole Country. Because… it’s not right and stuff. Sorta, except when you read my book. So don’t do that. And then, this one time, at band camp- this girl had a trombone and rammed it…

Posted on October 18, 2011 at 10:51pmSenator Santorum is so right about this. How in the world can we trust Gov. Romney when he obviously believes in Big Governement. For example, Gov. Romney also instistued a program where the State Governement of Mass purchased tires for the less fortunate. That is TIRES for one’s car. That is completely ridiculous and it shows the thinking process of someone who sees the Government as the answer to big problems.
