Santorum Caught Watching Football During Gingrich Speech

A possibly embarrassing video has surfaced from the weekend showing presidential hopeful Rick Santorum watching a football game on his tablet while Newt Gingrich can be heard speaking in the background. National Journal has more:

A camera caught GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum sneaking glances at a football game on his tablet during fellow candidate Newt Gingrich’s speech at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Forum on Oct. 22. It’s difficult to tell what he was watching, but Penn State, Santorum’s alma mater, was playing Northwestern in Evanston, Ill.

Here’s the video:

But could the video actually bode well for Santorum? After all, it shows he’s a lot like you and me, who will sneak a peek at the score no matter what the occasion.

That shows that sports are more important than our country !!! Nothing new!!! They pay these idiot ballplayer all this money and our country is going to hell!! Nobody that throws a ball is worth that kind of money , that says that our country and people are dumbed down to the point it is scary!!! Tv is killing our brain and telling you just what to do and when and how and what to buy!! It is controlling everything we do and people do not have enough sense to knw it!!! Stop watching the brain killer and that is just what it is doing. It says where our brain is when millions of dollars are spent in a ballgame for a ad. ! How sick is that and people starving and homeless! Think about it America, Our country is doomed!!!!!!!!!!

Newt was speaking, and he’s not in office and not going to be president (no matter what he thinks) so there was no real need to Rick to hang on his every word. Besides, maybe Mr. Santorum can multi-task?

LOL, Beau- I totally agree with you, but you missed the boat on the story: it ain‘t about his brain being fried ’cuz he watches Tv. Still, given the choice of lsitening to gNewt Gingrinch or watching football, I might even take football (perish the thought! Watch a sport on Tv? gawd, what boring lives those people must lead) ‘cuz gNewt has absolutley nothing to say I want to hear. Just another Romney or Perry or Oturd- we don’t need more than we have in the White House.

I like Rick Santorum. I like all the candidates except for Obama, Perry, and that other guy from wherever. Most of them are AT LEAST talking about the concerns so many of our fellow patriots have. Santorum adds to the conversation, and I like him. He sounds authentic. And I agree, watching football will endear him to many. Most people know much of what Gingrich is talking about anyway, especially Santorum. I have no problem with what he did. A little bit rude, yes. More than that. No.

      So what?

People can’t listen to somebody while checking a score of a football game? Am I the only one here who is married?

All this shows is that Santorum has something in common with 99.9% of the people in this nation. Sitting in rapt attention at all times seems to me to be utterly creepy and inhuman.

Don’t be stupid. I was watching the game too while I was at work (writing software). It IS possible to listen to Windbag Gingrich while keeping an eye on the score at the same time.

In fact I’m doing it right now (listening to RT while reading the news online and eating a sandwich). People can handle two separate events, especially if they involve two different senses (sound of gingrich and sight of the score).

Maybe you can be intense and angry all of the time, but if you have ever been in a large presentation, have spoken in front of a large group, or have had to perform at a high level, you know that they can be very exhausting emotional and physically. Sometimes after a large presentation for work, I feel that I’ve had a long and hard workout. Everyone needs a break or a release. If not, burnout ensues.

I get a little tired of reading right-wing blowhard discussion posts on this site. Too intense, too rigid, very angry.

I’m sorry, but was Newt saying something that Rick doesn’t already know? And since he’s running against Newt I would expect that he has more important things to do than listen attentively to his speeches. You are acting like he should think, “Yeah, Newt’s a better politician than I am. I should listen to him. Why am I running again?”

No politician who thinks like that ever runs. Guaranteed.
