Santorum Criticizes Obama Agenda as Based on ‘Some Phony Theology…Not a Theology Based on the Bible’

(AP) — Lashing out on two fronts, Rick Santorum on Saturday questioned President Barack Obama‘s Christian values and attacked GOP rival Mitt Romney’s Olympics leadership as he courted tea party activists and evangelical voters in Ohio, “ground zero” in the 2012 nomination fight.
Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator known for his social conservative views, said Obama’s agenda is based on “some phony theology. Not a theology based on the Bible. A different theology.” He later suggested that the president practices a different kind of Christianity.

“In the Christian church there are a lot of different stripes of Christianity,” he said. “If the president says he’s a Christian, he’s a Christian.”
The Obama campaign said the comments represent “the latest low in a Republican primary campaign that has been fueled by distortions, ugliness, and searing pessimism and negativity.”
Santorum was forced on his heels in recent days after a top supporter suggested women use aspirin to prevent pregnancy.
In Ohio, a Super Tuesday prize, he shifted decidedly to offense before friendly crowds. Trailing Romney in money and campaign resources, Santorum is depending on the tea party movement and religious groups to deliver a victory March 6 in the Midwestern contest.
More delegates will be awarded in Ohio than in any other state except Georgia in the opening months of the Republican campaign. Ohio and Georgia are two of the 10 contests scheduled for March 6, a benchmark for the primary campaign that often decides who can continue to the next level.
Santorum has surged in recent opinion polls after capturing Republican caucuses in Minnesota and Colorado and a non-binding primary in Missouri on Feb. 7. Several polls have shown him ahead in Romney’s native state of Michigan, where primary voters cast ballots a week from Tuesday.
Obama’s campaign team has responded by starting to consider the possibility that Santorum rather than Romney could be the Republican nominee. The Chicago-based organization has begun scrutinizing Santorum’s past record and asked its Pennsylvania allies to look for information that might be used against Santorum in future ads and speeches.
Even as he criticized Obama, Santorum also went after one of Romney’s most promoted achievements – his leadership at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
“One of Mitt Romney’s greatest accomplishments, one of the things he talks about most is how he heroically showed up on the scene and bailed out and resolved the problems of the Salt Lake City Olympic Games,” Santorum said. “He heroically bailed out the Salt Lake City Olympic Games by heroically going to Congress and asking them for tens of millions of dollars to bail out the Salt Lake games – in an earmark, in an earmark for the Salt Lake Olympic games.”
The Romney campaign does not dispute that congressional earmarks helped save the games. But they noted that Santorum voted for those earmarks, among many others, when he was a senator.

“Sometimes when you shoot from the hip, you end up shooting yourself in the foot,” Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said. “There is a pretty wide gulf between seeking money for post-9/11 security at the Olympics and seeking earmarks for polar bear exhibits at the Pittsburgh Zoo.”
Santorum used a later appearance before the Ohio Christian Alliance to go after Romney for using his financial advantage as “as a club to beat anyone who gets in his way.” But he saved his most pointed criticism for Obama, suggesting that the Democratic president’s health care overhaul encouraged abortions by requiring insurance plans to cover prenatal screenings.
“It saves money in health care. Why? Because free pre-natal testing ends up in more abortions and therefore less care that has to be done because we cull the ranks of the disabled from our society,” Santorum said. “That too is part of ObamaCare. Another hidden message as to what Obama thinks of those who are less able than the elites who want to govern our country.”
Santorum planned to finish his day in Akron before heading to Georgia on Sunday. While 63 delegates are at stake in Ohio, Georgia offers 76.
“There’s no state that can shout louder. You are the biggest state. You’ve got the biggest trove of delegates,” Santorum told the Brown County Republican Party on Friday night. “This is ground zero. Ohio.”

Questions about whether Santorum can sustain his rise in the polls come amid signs of stress within his campaign, mainly disorganization. Romney’s machine, coupled with new scrutiny for Santorum’s view of social issues as well as governmental policies, will give Santorum little margin for error.
As an example, one misstep by a Santorum supporter kept the former senator off message at times for two days.
Foster Friess, the main donor behind Santorum’s “super PAC,” created a stir Thursday when he related on MSNBC an old joke about how aspirin used to be a method for birth control. “Back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraception,” Friess said with a grin. “The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly.”
Friess apologized Friday in a blog post. But Santorum was repeatedly forced to distance himself from his surrogate’s comments, which Santorum described as “a bad joke.” The comments drew unwanted attention to Santorum‘s own musings about contraception and women’s issues.
“Santorum has been in the position of explaining on all of these issues. And when you’re explaining in politics, you’re losing,” said Phil Musser, a GOP strategist who doesn’t work for either campaign.

Posted on February 18, 2012 at 10:21pmIt’s about time someone truly shined a light on Liberation theology, for the Marxist doctrine it is.
I’ve been screaming at the top of my lungs since 2008 before his election. While everyone would say it was just his faith and we had to be tolerant of it. The fact is that Black Liberation theology, is not a religion! It’s a doctrine put together by dr.James Cone as a way to unite Ernesto “Che” Guevara’ Revolutionary Liberation movement and Black Muslim theology, not my words but dr.Cone’s own.
As most of you may know Ernesto “Che” Guevara was a Marxist revolutionary who infiltrated Catholic/Christian Churches in Latin America with the Collective Salvation and Social Justice perversion of the Gospel. Just as we have seen rev.Wright’s perversions of scripture. Famous words “I’m still in the Bible” While he went of on his racist rants.
Sure, you can drive all the way across town to go too a “Church” you don’t agree with. Of coarse you can do this for twenty plus years without grasping any of the message. You could use one of the preacher’s sermons as the title of your book without having heard it. Given the improbability of all this, what really put the nail in it was the fact that he took his daughters to that “Church”

Posted on February 18, 2012 at 11:36pmI like SANTORUM’S GUTS. HE IS right of course. IF you follow the GOD of ABRAHAM, ISAAC and JACOB you know that God created us with FREE WILL, and over the years He named the JEWS as His chosen people. Later He send Jesus to be the ‘payment’ for human sins. Jesus is the ONE Messiah. Jesus is the ONLY person to claim He was the Son of GOD. 700 years later, Arab tribes concocted Islam complete with Mohammed. There are several factions of Islam: Sunni and Shi’ite. EACH of them have their own Messiahs (none are Jesus). They hate the JEWS, (God’s Chosen people) and they have -0- in common with Judiasm/Christianity and philosophy of God’s FREE WILL teaching. They preach some type of earthly slavery…that’s easy to explain…GOD never had a hand in their “faith”…it is human inspired, developed and written…only using a few passages from the Old and New Testaments (they would get from travelers through their region/tribal area) Islam has none of the qualities of a real faith. It is an IDEOLOGY based upon giving a few men power and enslaving the rest. He has zero to do with FAITH. It is NOT from GOD.
Report Post »Santorum has the guts to say this. Most of the people I know believe that Obama is, was and has always been a Muslim. So is his wife. Galatians 1:8: “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”
*
And thus, since referenced, then an argument was made.

You’re welcome to argue back, but genuinely believing something isn’t bigotry. Telling someone you believe they‘re wrong based on certain facts and principles isn’t bigotry. If you’re going to slander someone with a word, you should at least look it up and know what it means first.

Mormons believe Jesus was a man before He became man. They say The fallen angel Lucifer was the brother of Jesus. They say god was a man and became man later. You see this is a wacky religion. In Christianity the Bible is without error and fully true and sufficient. Mormonism adds the book of Mormon and say that there book overrides the Word of God. Mormonism is a cult. They have the wrong god and the wrong Jesus. That equals the wrong salvation which leads mislead Mormons straight to hell.

Just because obama SAYS he is a “christian” doesn’t make him a Christian.

obama USES the name of Jesus Christ to tell people he is a “christian” and tell them it is okay to elect him. Then, he VERY RARELY even goes to “church.”

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 8:57amAll religions and their splinter groups are dismissed as cults and the like when they first appear. They’re usually ignored or persecuted which helps to solidify the new following to form a group mentality or identity. Early “Christianity,” from all outward appearances looked and sounded Jewish. They didn’t call themselves “Christian” until later on. It took about 400 years for Christ’s followers become accepted — when Constantine converted to the faith, thus bringing his own armies to its defense.
Mormons, by the SAME measure, have just as much right to think they’re called to God too. It doesn’t matter whose god is bigger or more true so much as that we all learn to coexist with mutual respect for our basic American values and laws. No one has a monopoly on religion or God…as a new one could be “revealed” tomorrow and your prejudices may not accept that one either…even if, hypothetically, Jesus himself led the procession “as a thief in the night,” causing you to miss (reject) him because of your preconceptions. Truth is more relative than you want to believe.

“”Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?” (Matthew 7:15-16)
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10:27)

Mr. Obama shows contempt for life (ref: his stance on abortion; his “healthcare” plan), and Biblical Christianity (ref: his administration’s assault on Biblical principles & references in any public square).
So, If Mr. Santorum – a professing Christian – is not discerning enough to spot a fraud, how can he be wise enough to lead this nation? Or if he is afraid to say the obvious truth, then how is he courageous enough to lead our country? Which of these is it? Is there a third possibility?

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 9:43am@Mil:
This is how you test a “gospel”:
“I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even IF WE, OR AN ANGEL FROM HEAVEN, PREACH ANY OTHER GOSPEL TO YOU THAN WHAT WE HAVE PREACHED TO YOU, LET HIM BE ACCURSED.” (Galatians 1:6-8)
And this is the Gospel:
Moreover, brethren, I DECLARE TO YOU THE GOSPEL which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you–unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)
So ANYTHING (including “social”) plus the gospel is NOT the gospel, and in it is not life, but DEATH.

Hint: man can do nothing about it – but be _amned. But w/ God, all things are possible & He has provided The Way, (but it is very narrow), The Truth (but it is very exclusive), & The Life (& there is no other name under Heaven by which men might be saved).

Mitt Romney’s literature and signs have been at every Republican event for years. He had quite an organization in 2008 with signs that said, “Michigan for Mitt,” with the cute reference of the appearance of the lower peninsula being a mitten, and Mitt’s name, well, it’s just precious.
But here we are, 9 days from Michigan’s Presidential Primary, which the GOP in Michigan moved up and lost half of it’s delegates as a result, and now Mitt has to actually compete.
Mitt lost Iowa, Missouri, Colorado, South Carolina, and Minnesota, and may lose Maine. He has so far won New Hampshire, Nevada and Florida. Read on
The people supporting Romney at this point are like Obama supporters, they trash their opponent and ignore ALL of Romney’s faults.

My personal statement is that;
Mr. Santorum is not to be trusted, whatever the truth
Either he will hold fast to Church teachings when elected, and is making statements contrary to these teachings now to gain power.
or,
he has abandoned his faith and is only using the Catholic badge as a way to gain power.
Either way, he is not what he seems.
There have been 2,000 years of Catholic teachings based on traditions centuries older. The survival of Catholicism is prime evidence for it’s truthfulness.
Mr. Beck realizes this. Otherwise he would not have said “We Are All Catholics Now!”

Where in the word of God does it state that the government should do these things? Christ only said render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, and unto God what is God’s (Matthew 22:21; Mark 12:17; Luke 20:25).
Stop listening to “bishops” – who are very generous w/ other’s money & read your bible (that many have shed their blood so you would have an English translation you can read for yourself).
[God] is not partial to princes, Nor does He regard the rich more than the poor; For they are all the work of His hands. (Job 34:19)
For there is no respect of persons with God. (Romans 2:11-12; Acts 10:34-35)
The fact is the rich (& if you live in the United States, you are almost certainly rich by worlds standards) are to be pitied. For they are likely trusting in those riches and far from the Kingdom of God. James 5:1, 1 Timothy 6
The Word of God is clear – His own are to care for the poor (James 1:27). It is never the charter of government (which He established for justice). It is NOT VIRTUOUS, its THEFT to insist that another (more wealthy than you) are responsible for your own obligation to the poor before God.
“Robinhood” is not destined for Heaven, but Hell – for the Word of God says thou shall not steal & he who is guilty of transgressing one of the commandments is guilty of all (James 2:10).

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 11:11amNeither Black Liberation theology or Mormonism are Christian based. Both are cults. Mormon’s do not preach salvation through Jesus Christ. Black Liberation theology preach collective salvation – neither will get you into the Kingdom of God.
Barack Hussein Obama is absolutely NOT a Christian. The Word says, “You shall know them by their fruits.” Barack Hussein Obama not only promotes abortion, but voted twice in Illinois as an Illinois State Senator to refuse medical treatment to a baby born alive from a botched abortion. Barack Hussein Obama is also not just a gay right’s supporter, but believes in giving gays preferential treatment. He also supported a “coming out parties” for gays in the military.
If you do some elementary investigation, you will find that Barack Hussein Obama, you know his: I am “the One” speeches in Cairo and Germany, and his admitted affirmation of his Muslim faith in a TV interview, as well as his being schooled in Islam in Indonesia from six yrs. through 10, as well as a fluent Arabic language speaker. Why do you think he bowed to a Saudi Prince? Why do you think he was instrumental in the overthrow of secular leaders in northern African nations and the Middle East under the disguise of Democratic revolutions, only to be replaces by radical Muslim Brotherhood control with Sharia Law? Who assisted Obama’s entrance to Harvard and paid for his education? radical Muslim friends and Saudi prince money. Paved the way. The list goes on.

Obama continued to provide support for Odinga in 2007 from America. Odinga lost and killed over a thousand Christians and burnt 800 churches. Lovely President we have, don’t we?
Barack Hussein Obama is not a supporter of Israel, but he does at the very least empathize and indirectly support the enemies of Israel, and once again has been keenly instrumental with establishing anti-Israeli governments in north African countries, such as Tunisia, Libya and Egypt.

Also how can you sanction Abortion, Late Term Abortion and Partial Birth Abortion and call yourself a Christian.Millions of so called “christians” regularly use abortifacient birth control (which either chemically kills the baby or prevents the baby from attaching to the life giving uterus thereby starving the baby to death) We’ve taken the gift of sex between a man and a woman and distorted it into something for our personal pleasure and in so doing we have removed God from the procreative act. If you approve of Abortion and artificial birth control you are many things but are you “Christian” Imagine if you could walk up to Jesus and say Lord I really like having sex but I don’t want to have any kids, I want to have a better quality of life and lots of material things what do you think He would say? Seriouisly, traditions?!?
Then the [religious leaders] who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.” JESUS answered and SAID to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? (Matthew 15:1-3)
Then the [religious leaders] asked [Jesus], “Why do Your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?” CHRIST answered and SAID to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR FROM ME. AND IN VAIN THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE COMMANDMENTS OF MEN.’ For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men– the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do.” (Mark 7:5-8)

“Love thy neighbor as thyself, and on and on and on and on ( who is my neighbor, good Samaritan, 7 times etc, etc, etc).”
So you equate a politician extorting from the rich & redistributing to the “poor” the same as loving your neighbor as yourself & the act of a good Sameritan? That is what you get from reading that commandment?
In that case, you will have no problem w/ the same politician taking all you have & redistributing it to someone that they deem less fortunate than yourself…

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 11:52amSimply yes. If that is the right thing to do, I would gladly go along.
But it’s an Absurdist argument that no one is proposing. If all my good were taken then I would be without anything and would be next in line to receive my share.
Extortion is an exaggeration. People normally project their tendencies for actions onto others, so extortion is probably your own predilection.
Sharing equally simply means getting a share, an opportunity, and not that all the shares are cut the same size. Most people understand this and that is why arguments such as yours are not taken seriously most people.

Interesting. So you absolve your conscience by voting for politician X who will by force of “law” take the goods of one and “share” w/ another. If it is right & you believe it just, then what are you waiting for?
Take all you have & divide it equally into shares of say 100 & give it away (but keep a share for yourself). And after you’ve done that, you’ll still be richer than the average Indian in Asia. You know if you believe something to be right & you don’t do it, it is sin to you (James 4:17).
There is a reason communism does not succeed. It removes a man’s free will & destroys the incentive to produce. For if I choose to work & then am stripped of the fruit of that labor & forced to share w/ those that have not, for they work not, why should I then work? I get the same share either way, which inevitably results in few working & thus an ever decreasing share to go around.
For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. (2 Thessalonians 3:10)
IF you believe it right to share your wealth (which we are commanded to do by the way – there we agree – but by choice, not force – there we disagree), then do not wait for a politician to do it for you (it will be no credit to you), but do it now while you have a choice & may get credit. Store treasure in Heaven…Luke 12:33

Why is it that in this country of the 1st Amendment, there are y’all who actively preach against another Christian faith? As a group, Mormons are good people and promote strong values of family, honor and love of our nation. What do you care if they believe in additional gospels other than just those in the Old and New Testament? Who are you to say that theirs is a false doctrine? The books of the New Testament were, after all, decided upon by a group of men many, many years after Christ and his Apostles had left this earth. I don’t think we can really say that those are the only books that were the word of God or so inspired. You want to worry about a “religion” that is false, worry about Islam. It robs its followers of the free will and the right to choose their path. You can’t legislate obedience to God or Christ; it must come from within and a desire to do so, not fear of death. But even they have the right to follow whom they believe in….. Even if fear keeps them from hearing Christ’s message of redemption.

Christians have been attacked for way too long and it’s time to stand up and make this country great again. It is what we were founded on and time to take it back. Santorum for President 2012. Posted on February 18, 2012 at 8:50pmDoes he mean all that stuff Jesus said about helping the poor? Where are those references in the Bible against birth control? Did Jesus speak against birth control? Is there a single reference in the Bible saying that birth control is unholy? Is there a single reference in the Bible at all about birth control? This is Catholic doctrine, but, seriously, where they heck does that come from, because it’s not in the Bible as far as I know.
Somebody help me with this please. There‘s no injunction in the Bible against birth control because it didn’t exist in that time. So where’s the Biblical support against birth control?

Posted on February 18, 2012 at 9:46pmJZS – Most Christians understand that the Bible is not a comprehensive guide to every single issue that arises. It does however provide us with framework which, when honed by our God-given capacity to reason, assists us in moral discernment.
Here are a couple of arguments against contraception that deserve consideration:
1 – The use of contraceptives promotes promiscuity and reckless sexual behavior because it removes the reproductive element of conjugal relations. The last 50 years has demonstrated without question – I believe – that this is true.
2 – When promiscuity increases the reverence due to human sexuality is diminished. Thus the participants themselves become viewed not as cherished partners but instruments for personal pleasure.

The Issue Isn’t Birth Control!
That’s just the dum-dem distraction card, taken from the Dum-Dem PlayBook!
The Real Issue Is: BHO‘s Futile Attempt To Get Rid Of America’s First Amendment Rights!
And, another dum-dem distraction card at play here are the words: Birth Control“ and ”Contraception“ and ”Women’s Health.”
The dum-dems are Really Talking About ABORTION.
It’s like if they say “fetus” and “pregnancy tissue” and “carrier” and “host” — Abortion’s Not About A Mother Killing Her Baby.
The dum-dems are so deluded, they believe that by switching words they are removing themselves from The Horror Of Abortion.

Posted on February 18, 2012 at 10:31pmCopatriots says, “in Biblical times, women actually wanted to have children. Children were actually considered a blessing.” Copatriots, in former days, children, especially male children were a blessing for economic reasons. After six or seven years they could contribute their labor to help the family or group to survive. Two thousand years ago parents weren’t sending people off to Harvard. They needed the labor. Let’s not fantasize noble reasons people a couple of thousand years ago wanted children. I don’t doubt they loved them, but childbearing was about getting new members into a group who could contribute labor to help the group survive and defend themselves.
Jthunder says, the use of contraceptives promotes promiscuity and reckless sexual behavior. You says that‘s true and I’m sure it make sense to you. But what is the basis for that belief? Were people less promiscuous before condoms were available? Do you have any evidence of that? You’re imagining that people in the world think like you do. I don’t think they do, but feel free to disagree.
Anyway, where in the Bible does it say birth control is wrong? Nowhere right? Isn’t that something a bunch of old white guys came up with?

You might want to reread your history books about the start of the progressive era in America. The Progressive era started with a bunch of disgruntled women who were tired of their husbands spending all their money on booze (the drug of the 1890′s) and prostitutes… Temperance ring a bell? “Progressives believed that the family was the foundation stone of American society, and THE GOVERNMENT, especially municipal government, must work to strengthen and enhance the family.” Sound familiar? Santorum’s platform IS exactly the same as the arguements used by those that started the progressive movement. All you GB lemmings were supposed to be doing your homework. Posted on February 18, 2012 at 8:59pmSo Romney’s not a real Christian? Neither is Gingrich and Paul? I didn’t realize we were to vote for a “Christian” of the United States….I thought it was President.
I am a Christian…but Christians are one of the most hypocritical groups in the nation. Christians are quick to judge and condemn. Christians like to attack anyone (even other Christians) who don’t exactly agree with them on religious issues. As far as I’m concerned anyone who professes to be Christian and attacks another for their faith is no Christian at all.
And anyone who votes for a candidate because the color of his skin or his religion is guilty of stupidity.
So far I have seen no reason not to vote for Mitt Romney….he still leads the polls on which GOP candidate has the best chance to beat Obama. Romney has the infrastructure and cash….besides Romney has Teflon morals. Obama and his cronies have and will have nothing on Romney except 28 years of unpaid service to his church, community and nation.
