Santorum Attempts to Keep Debate On Course: ‘Focus on the Issues!’

Thursday’s CNN debate was heated right out of the gate. Following an extended back and forth between Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich over each candidate’s baggage connected to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Rick Santorum jumped in to encourage that the debate discussion shift back to real issues and away from the bludgeoning contest between the former Speaker and former Massachusetts governor. The Florida crowd seemed to agree:
The Associated Press on the early Romney and Gingrich attacks:
“Rivals Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney are trading barbs over their income from mortgage firms Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
In Thursday’s debate in Florida, Gingrich criticized Romney’s investment in mutual funds that included the lenders, as well as Wall Street giant Goldman Sachs.
Gingrich says Romney is profiting from home foreclosures that plague Florida, and he‘s asking how much of Romney’s personal fortune came from those foreclosures.
Romney defends the investments, saying his blind trust handles his finances and that Gingrich himself owns mutual funds that also invest in the quasi-government lenders.
Romney also is criticizing Gingrich for his paychecks as a consultant to the lender that some blame for the housing crisis.”

Posted on January 26, 2012 at 11:39pmThese debates are a waste of time. The primaries suck. We should team up with the UFC and have cage matches. I am sick and tired of the rhetoric. The candidates can slug it out like men and stop the sissy name-calling.

Posted on January 27, 2012 at 12:29pmSantorum was good last night. He focused on the issues at hand and seemed more Presidential than the others. I’d like to hear more from him. Wolf B. only seemed interested in bating the candidates. I was very disappointed in him. I thought he had more class than that.

Romney wanted no part of it. Just Leftist tactics.
One thing Romney did not prepare for…….. Santorum attacks… oops!@ the coach did not see that play coming and you can see this man has no ablility to think on his feet.

Posted on January 26, 2012 at 11:07pmRomney had a great debate performance. All of the Paul and Gingrich supporters with vehemently disagree. Santorum hit it out of the park! I think it sucks that he doesn’t have the money or the organization, but the fact that he, on a shoestring budget and good debate efforts, is still in the running shows that he is worth considering. The Paulbots and Gingrich minions will play him as a flash in the pan. They have that right, they love their candidate. Romney finally showed he can defend himself and Santorum showed that he is worthy of equal consideration…

In the U.S. we have a minimum age of 35 to run for president.

Posted on January 26, 2012 at 10:56pmRocky Santorum! He connected all night and continues to answer the questions. He is the only consistant conservative. Paul is a consistant libertarium, but his reply to the lady with no insurance was more “sucks to be you.” Gingrich panders to whomever is in the audience and Romney can’t hide from Romney Care and he stated tonight that “top down” is the way to go…that scares me. Santorum is not sullen or sophmoric, he is serious and is running for the right reasons.

Unfortunately, that is what scares me about Rick. It‘s like the ’Silent Majority‘ has become the ’Silent Minority’
But, at this point I will support him. I think without him we lose for sure whether it’s a fast death with Obama or slow death with Newt or Mitt.

He hold the future in his hands and the only one who can acutally turn this country around!
