AP
GOP presidential contender Rick Santorum on Sunday hit back at claims that he does not believe President Barack Obama is a Christian, following controversial statements he made about the president’s religious values the day before.
Speaking to supporters in Ohio Saturday, Santorum said Obama’s agenda is based on “some phony theology. Not a theology based on the Bible. A different theology.”
“In the Christian church there are a lot of different stripes of Christianity,” he added. “If the president says he’s a Christian, he’s a Christian.”
Appearing on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Santorum clarified his remarks: “I wasn‘t suggesting the president’s not a Christian. I accept the fact that the president’s a Christian.”
He told host Bob Schieffer he was simply referring to the president’s world view of environmentalism “that elevates the Earth above man,“ including the ”politicization of the whole global warming debate.”
“This is just all an attempt to centralize power and to give more power to the government,” Santorum said. “It‘s not questioning the president’s beliefs in Christianity, I’m talking about, you know, the belief that man should be in charge of the Earth and should have dominion over it and be good stewards of it.”
Asked about his use of the word “theology,” Santorum reiterated his belief that Obama is a Christian.
“I‘ve repeatedly said I don’t question the president’s faith, I‘ve repeatedly said that I believe the president’s Christian, he says he’s Christian,” Santorum said. “But I am talking about his world view and the way he approaches problems in this country and i believe they’re different than most people in America.”
Santorum discussed Obama’s religious beliefs during the 2008 campaign cycle, saying he belonged to Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s church to achieve a “political objective”:
The former Pennsylvania senator has come under particular scrutiny in recent days in the area of religion. A staunch Catholic, he is vocal in his opposition to contraception and has been particularly outspoken regarding the administration’s mandate that it be covered by employers. He was also forced to distance himself from a key backer’s joke that girls used to keep aspirin “between their knees” to not get pregnant.
Earlier on Saturday, MSNBC aired a clip from a 2008 Santorum speech to a group of college students in which he said “mainline Protestantism” is “gone from the world of Christianity.”
“We all know that this country was founded on a Judeo-Christian ethic. But the Judeo-Christian ethic — sure the Catholics had some influence — but this was a Protestant country,” said Santorum. “And the Protestant ethic, mainstream, mainline Protestantism, and of course we look at the shape of mainline Protestantism in this country and it is a shambles, it is gone from the world of Christianity as I see it.”

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 12:40pmSantorum is this election’s “Huckabee”. Huckabee failed because most of America does not want a theocracy – even if it is a Christian one. Huckabee screwed up the last election because he split the vote and we ended up with McCain as the nominee, and ultimately with Obama as President. As much as people may want to vote with their faith they should vote with their BRAINS – or we will end up with something worse – four more years of a divisive, arrogant, America-hating Socialist with the middle name “Hussein”.
Romney is the ONLY candidate with the experience, demeanor, ethics, organization, and financial ability to beat Obama.

Romney, whom I hope will show us more of the real Romney as we saw some of in FLORIDA, is our best shot. Newt is like a floundering whale. He has the ideas, but not, (big life’s lesson for all) not discipline. Romney has the fight and the discipline and I believe he can unseat Obama. That is, after all the goal…stopping this headlong rush into Sharia Law and Islamic control of the US of A.

Wait until the Obama campaign goes after Romney on his Mormon faith-you know they will-they have no standards. Plz see this article which says Obama will go after Romney on the basis of reason and intellect: http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/01/brace_yourself_for_the_anti-mormon_slime_machine.html They will rip Mitt (a Mormon bishop)on the Mormon’s beliefs of:
1. That God has not always been the Supreme Being of the universe, but attained that status through righteous living and persistent effort. They believe God the Father has a “body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s.”
2. that Jesus Christ was the first “spirit child” born to God the Heavenly Father with one of his many wives. Instead of acknowledging Jesus as the one true God, they believe He became God, just as they will one day become gods. According to Mormon doctrine, as the first of the “spirit children” of God, Jesus had preeminence over Satan or Lucifer who was the second “son of God” and the “spirit brother” of Jesus.

At least he would not apologize worldwide for anything that has ever been committed in the world that any tyrannical or oppressive country doesn’t agree with. These Republicans need to stop the “scorched earth policy” towards each other, settle down and pull everyone into the mix that ran in the cabinet and get to running “against” BHO. And Newt is the worst right now, trailing only slightly by the other 3! Further, sex behind closed doors whether heterosexual, homosexual, or bi-sexual or religion, etc. has little to do with a person’s ability to govern and the government should stay the hxll out of much of it! There are TOO many things worldwide and nationally more important. The current POTUS simply was not vetted and consequently it shows. The media elected him. Where is the press that we hear over, and OVER again in 1992 saying, “Are you better or worse off than you were 3 years ago”, when Clinton ran. Most Americans know this country is in deep trouble, it is just that the press spins it as though it is all the Republicans fault, when progressivism has caused this whole mess, and that includes on both sides of the isle.

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 2:33pmI couldn’t disagree with you more! You obviously don’t understand Sociology and Psychology especially on a National Platform. The foundation of most decent, truthful, God Fearing Americans is the rock solid foundation of the “family”. The reason that malicious crime and rape is so on the rise is due to mothers seeking a career instead of staying at home with the children being a constant reminder of right and wrong. Today the “norm” is having children out of wedlock, gay marriage, or no marriage at all. All of these options are so completely wrong with the values that founded this country and its high time someone “gets it” and focuses on the most important issue, families. Our “mainstream” television tells us that men are stupid, un-able to make decisions, and that the woman is the “leader” of the family. That is such a perversion of the Bible its ridiculous. All of you men and women out their who support a non-nuclear family are not real American’s in my book. You are an abomination of the principles that founded this great nation, and the cause of its downfall. Its ok America, go back to your T.V., Twitter, and FB accounts and forget about whats best for our children and the 3000+ years of how to have a family because your obviously so much smarter than the stupid God fearing, life and liberty giving, forefathers that build this land and country from nothing! 1. He won’t carry all the necessary battle ground states, Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Caroline, Florida, etc. Remember how much his influence and popularity helped Corzine in New Jersey?
2. The young won’t show up at the polls as they did in 2008. ( They didn’t get the free stuff)
3. The independents are over the “first black president thing”. ( They need not feel guilty any longer)
4. Now that Obama has a record “rhetoric” has a point of reference. The GOP PACs will beat him up in the media. (The playing field will be level. Unlike 2008)
5. The majority of Blue Collar Americans don’t give a c*ap about blogs let alone the Blaze. The “Theocracies” argument is going to work about as well as it did against Kennedy.
Finally, Santorum has held his own very well against the “gotcha media”. The GOP did the “angry white guy thing” in 2008. Although so many respondents here care about their own “rice bowls” the reality is a large number of folks show up on election day voting with little or no information regarding the choices. The presidential election is as much about cute as it is about substance, Kennedy vs. Nixon, Clinton vs Dole and Obama vs. McCain. Santorum has the demeanor, the intelligence , youthful energetic presence and can handle a biased media.

If a person is a christian, it is because they have a true heart felt beliefe in the gospel, saw themselves as an unworthy sinner that can not work their way to heavan, and believes that Jesus paid the price for sin on the cross. That is what a Christian is.
Obama is most likely an athiest. His truth and the Republican truth is that they want to “build the dang wall” to prevent themselves from having “unnatural sex” with members of a different ethnicity, activities that have no procreative purpose. I‘m sure that’s not the only reason Republicans want to build the dang wall however. I know that Republicans didn’t care about the dang wall when Bush was President, maybe because they didn’t want to miss out on the action. But that’s only part of it. I think mostly those good old capitalists in the south are happy to have Mexican nationals working for them. Right? They can pay them next to nothing, pay no payroll taxes, not insure them, not care if they get injured because they know none of them will alert OSHA or make claims of any kind.
Of course Republicans don’t want to go after the employees. They know the value of Mexicans to their business. Instead, the want erect a deficit busting wall, one that we all know won’t keep anyone out. So the cheap labor is still here, but we’ve built the dang wall. Win win.

It requires belief to be a part of the “Green” crowd, since the evidence does NOT indicate we are changing the climate. The Earth has had periods of no ice caps, and periods where the whole planet was a giant snowball…millions of years before we even existed. So how did that happen? Dino flatulence (methane gas)? What about the times it happened before the dinosaurs? Anthropogenic global warming is a HOAX that is designed to give the government more control over your lives. People cannot change the climate. Chemical reactions (like the Carbon Cycle) shift when more reactants are added to one side of the equation. The equation will balance, and equilibrium will be approached…though as a system dynamics problem it is Lyapunov stable at best (stable but oscillating).
CO2 release happens naturally all the time (and on a much larger scale than we can accomplish) with vulcanism. We are less than a grain of sand on a beach, and we are along for the ride…it is arrogant to think otherwise. Since we‘ve taught children that they’re all special, entitled, and deserve trophies for doing absolutely nothing special…there’s no wonder that people think they can change something so vast and complicated.

To me and my family, he’s a disgusting individual. Read about his $500k lawsuit against a chiropractor a few years back. His voting record is the worst. Anyone who sits in the hateful, socialist, white hating, black liberation theology spouting, moronic reverend Wright’s so called church for 20 years and admits that Wright was a very important influence in his life is most definitely not a Christian or an American! “The world is reaching a cross-roads, a dangerous turning point regarding the threat of Islamofascism. According to the Qur’an, Islam has always had world domination as it’s ultimate goal, but now it’s sights are firmly fixed on America. Muslim groups and organizations have infiltrated our culture, seeking to establish Sharia (Islamic Law) across our great nation. With the election of Barack Hussein Obama as President, our political leadership has installed Muslims in powerful and key positions across the federal government. In this thought-provoking seminar, Usama draws upon current events in the news to demonstrate how quickly we are moving towards “one nation under Islam.” His message is clear: America, now is the time to choose, to choose Freedom, or to unknowingly choose to Surrender to Islam. You will want to share this powerful call to action with family and friends. Freedom or Surrender–it’s time to choose. ” *

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 2:09pm2012, here is why we NEED a right wing ideolog.
Look at how things moved along from the end of WWII to date. You will see there is an up and down slide left and right. When things are going well, the right is comfortable and lets things happen. People are being prosperous, government isn’t being as intrusive, no need to get involved in government because it is being reasonable, people are living their life the way it should be. Well, this is when the Left gets busy. They want to start making trouble and take more control, so slowly and surely they do. Then things start getting into a mess and the Right (Conservatives) start getting involved and then straighten things up and then become quiet again. It is a constant process and it is time for that great Right Wing Conservative to get things back on the right track because we have dipped too far to the left, thus the Sith needs to be destroyed and the world rebalanced.
Mitt is a Moderate, not a Conservative. last two Moderates have lost so why think we can be overbalanced to the Left and a Moderate will fix the problem? Santorum needs to get off the social conservative stuff to make an impact, and the fact that Newt has a proven conservative record and has made Democrats look good, imagine what he can do to right this country? Tired of the media telling me who to vote for.

He has gone down in the polls because he is not trustworthy. When you combined the facts that he flip flops on almost every important issue , most people dont believe he is a Christian due to his Mormon faith, and he ran before and lost to Mcain all combined for him having no chance of beating Obama.
Trust me when I say, Ron Paul’s supports will not vote for Mitt, Newt, or Rick. Its not going to happen. We did the whole Mcain thing last time, we will not do it again. If you try to put another progressive/globalist/social engineering as the nominee you are guaranteeing yourself four more with Obama.
Ron Paul is the only candidate that can show a stark difference in ideals an and voting record.
Ron Paul anti overseas warmongering, Obama and the clones(Rick, Mitt, and Newt) are for it.
Ron Paul is anti foreign aid, Obama and the clones are for it.
Ron Paul is for cutting spending, Obama and the clones are for no cuts or cuts in future spending.
Ron Paul is for American citizens freedom, Obama and the clones are for taking freedoms. (Patriot act, Ndaa, federal lunch box inspectors)
Ron Paul is against the US being in Nato and the UN, Obama and the clones are for global governments.
The choice is clear, if you want REAL CHANGE its Ron Paul.

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 9:01pmThe voters who will decide this election are mostly worried about 1 thing: JOBS!!!
Arguing over religion may be interesting to some, but in the end, whoever can fix this economy and quickly create millions of new jobs wins. Mitt Romney knows business, and how to grow them. He has said he will drill in the USA and off-shore to reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil, and the Keystone Pipeline is just one example that truly IS “job ready”. As for Mitt’s religion – all I can say is that he professes Jesus Christ is Lord, and he has been happily married to his high school sweetheart for decades. There are no “skeletons” in his closet; he was thoroughly vetted 4 years ago. He looks presidential, he sounds presidential, and he knows how to create jobs and turn the economy around. THAT is how you win a presidency. It really just comes down to whether or not Republicans are willing to vote for the ONE man who consistently meets or beats Obama in the national polls. I certainly am!!!

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 4:43pmSocial Security and any promise to fix the economy is theft by deception. We have accepted the notion that theft is not theft if the government does it for a convenient reason. Taking something directly or by a phoney contract, and knowing that there is no realistic hope of paying for it is theft. Inflating the money is theft because it enters into every bargain against the party that loans the money. Killing innocents in the womb is a process that denies due process. It is the practice of witchcraft and wicked fortune telling to say their life has no value and that they have no ability to bless the rest of mankind simply because they were unwanted or unloved. Promising healthcare, given the past performance of government health care is maintaining a lie in the fact of contrary evidence. Peace with God brings you a life worth living not standing in line to get what the government owes you or has taken from some one else. What the government owes you is not likely to be rendered in proportion to what you paid. Transactions between the citizen and the government are increasingly like the ones between the homeless squeegie guys along the street who are forcing you to pay for something you did not really ask for.

Posted on February 19, 2012 at 12:19pmMr. Santorum broaching the Christian theology angle is acceptable. The Obama reelection team says, “The comments by Santorum represent the latest low in a Republican primary campaign that has been fueled by distortions, ugliness, and searing pessimism and negativity.”
Since President Obama opened the door by putting forth his understanding of Biblical theology and how his presidency is shaped by his understanding. Then the president has made this a campaign issue.
Therefore, for President Obama now to call Mr. Santorum’s remarks a low blow is disingenuous. Since, President Obama said he based his leadership decisions on Biblical principles, then that fact makes his assertions fair game. Just because another candidate has, a different view does not make Mr. Santorum’s comments unfair.
President Obama and his reelection team are whiner’s.
This president would have us accept that the Bible declares that the best government is a form of socialism.
That idea does not fit with a quote from Saint Paul. “He who does not work does not eat.”
That does not mean we throw the infirmed, mentally ill, or children under the bus. However, it does mean able body people must work to provide for their own family’s needs.
In addition, the framers of our constitution believed government is the problem. The president believes the government is the answer.
Whom do you believe?
