Santorum Staffer Under Fire for ‘Sexist’ Email: ‘Is It God’s Highest Desire…to Have a Woman Rule’?

Santorum Staffer Under Fire for Sexist Email: Is It Gods Highest Desire...to Have a Woman Rule?

AP

A staffer to Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum is fending off controversy over an email he sent last summer questioning whether a woman should be president.

Jamie Johnson, Santorum’s Iowa coalitions director, sent an email in June saying children’s lives would be harmed if the country elected a female president, the Des Moines Register reported Friday.

“The question then comes, ‘Is it God’s highest desire, that is, his biblically expressed will, … to have a woman rule the institutions of the family, the church, and the state?’” Johnson reportedly wrote.

According to NBC News, he sent the message from his private email account. It surfaced in the fall after its recipient passed it on to a member of then-GOP candidate Michele Bachmann’s campaign.

Peter Waldron, who worked as Bachmann’s national faith outreach director, blasted the Santorum campaign Saturday in an email to Buzzfeed, accusing the former Pennsylvania senator of deploying a “sexist strategy” against his candidate in Iowa. He demanded an apology from Santorum and said “misogyny was a serious issue in Iowa” and that “medieval attitudes” are to blame for Bachmann‘s poor showing in the state’s caucuses, NBC reported.

Bachmann suspended her presidential bid after netting a mere 5 percent in Iowa, coming in ahead only of Jon Huntsman, who did not compete in the state.

But Johnson, a pastor at a central Iowa church, said the email was meant to be a private message to a friend and not intended to be read by anyone else, according to the Register.

He told NBC it has been “blown way out of proportion,” and was not an official campaign correspondence.

“I was sharing my personal reflections with a friend through my private email account -– not the campaign account,” Johnson told NBC. “They were reflections on over 25 years of formal, theological study” based in “classical Christian doctrine.”

According to the Register, the charge that sexism is the reason behind Bachmann’s poor performance in Iowa is not new: As her poll numbers plummeted following her historic Ames straw poll win, Bachmann’s “national aides and evangelical organization team privately complained that sexism coursed through Iowa’s religious conservative community,” the newspaper reported.

Santorum on Saturday won the backing of 150 social conservative and evangelical Christian leaders.

One way to fix this problem is stop watching NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, Current and CNN. If you have Cable, just turning to these Channels for a second counts as viewing for 15 minutes. Their ratings are low and if definitely effect what Advertiser pay per commercial time. Stop Watching.

You know what would be really nice…is someone, ANYONE, would finally step up to the plate and ask the candidates just what are their views regarding the recently passed NDAA that allows for your arrest with no warrant, no charges, no trial, and no release date. (Yes nnelG, that includes YOU!)

After that, perhaps they will find the time to ask them about the immoral and unconstitutional strip searches that are foisted on our people by the TSA?

I seems quite clear that the media (including YOU nnelG) are doing their best to avoid these issues like the plague…so the question is why?

      Hhhhhmmmm.

There is on one candidate who has stood firmly against these assaults on the Bill of Rights, and that candidate is Ron Paul.

Vote for Ron Paul, or be ready to bend over for the NWO’s henchmen known as the TSA, for the simple right to watch your kids play a football game at your local high school.

Santorum is a Keynesian, folks! He IS a big government guy.

      See here.

      Rick Santorum: We Want Inflation
      http ://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l124ellWdY

The Federal Reserve is NOT constitutional, as Santorum supposes. And Inflation is NOT normal, as Santorum supposes. And WE ACTUALLY DO want price deflation, contrary to what Santorum supposes.

Santorum is a disaster waiting to CONTINUE TO happen. Don’t do this, America!

Even if you believed that Santorum wanted to shrink government – which he has already said he’s not a libertarian – the existence of a fiat money system makes it IMPOSSIBLE not to grow government, and in fact, the WHOLE POINT of a fiat money system is to grow government.

“Not surprised that he is likely a misogynist on top of that…”

I actually agree with the staffer with regard to women. It’s emasculating to have a woman in charge of most things.

Part of the male identity is to seek to be a good provider and protector, and to be admired for it by their women; And a lot of women will agree with this, as long as the men aren’t trying to OWN them.

The MSM “IS” a communist cabal. Any expression of faith or the perception that you rely on God or His Word is the fresh meat those dogs are looking for.

obango has no faith beyond the communist faith of state (http://shutking.blogspot.com/2010/06/video-of-tom-fife-telling-of-his-story.html). he doesn’t attend Church and his “faith” adviser is a self proclaimed communist. And none of his people are faithful followers of the Christian God.
But you don’t hear a word about that.

IMHBLO, God doesn’t look favorably on man when he shirks his duty. Both sexes have their place on the stage of life in the Christian world. Each unique and each uniquely dependent on the other for their skill set and purpose for the other to survive as He intended.

There are examples in the Bible where the roles were reversed as lessons for modern day man to consider. will he?

Electing a woman just for the sake of “making history” would be just as stupid as electing someone with a darker skin tone to “make history”. I voted for Alan Keyes in the 2000 caucuses, but I voted for him because he best articulated the positions I felt strongly about. Not because I wanted to make history. As an evangelical Christian, if a woman comes along that is the best person to be president, I’ll vote for her. As much as I like Congresswoman Bachmann, I didn’t see the qualities that I want in a president. When Bob Dole ran for president, and I saw Elizabeth campaigning for him, I realized we nominated the wrong Dole. She would have made a great president.

Agree that it doesn’t matter one little iota since it was a STAFFER (NOT Santorum) sent the e-mail !!
Agree that the Bible says women and men have different “roles” when it comes to the family — and you can argue about what the New Testament says re being a “pastor” (although there were “deaconesses”). However, the Bible does give examples of women as very strong authoritative leaders — such as…..Deborah and used Esther. Makes no difference it was only a couple we know of. Only depends what God wants (not contradictory to scriptures).
Also I don’t get what he said — how does a President ” rule the institutions of the family, the church, and the state” here? I don’t think so. There’s also the Senate and the House, etc. and state issues are theirs, not his. The church? How’s that? He talks like he’s supposed to be some totalitarian – like Obama. This guy has problems himself but I certainly don’t blame Santorum & wouldn’t affect him as President even if he does personally believe that. Sheesh!
We all need to concentrate on the Senate (and keeping the House). That way, even if we do get some “moderate”, they will keep him in check – as it’s supposed to be for once.

that would be the only way there would be a problem, if the President ruled the church. In the Bible, it ways women shouldn’t teach men in areas of religion. I (being a woman) don’t agree with female pastors and only like female ministers of women or children. I (as a personal opinion) believe a woman CAN teach a Sunday school class, as the men have the choice of going to a different one. But President isn’t a dictate of the Bible, and he/she wouldn’t be teaching things of the Bible. I’d vote for a woman for President if she was qualified. I’d vote for Sarah Palin, but I hadn’t made up my mind about Michelle Bachmann.

Natural Law dictates that men are to fight and lead. This same Law dictates than women are to nurture and sustain. People are happiest when living their lives in accordance with Natural Law.

This Law can be observed by viewing the chests of the respective genders. Men have large pectoral muscles, designed to project power forward in all environments, including hostile. In the female gender, we observe smaller pectoral muscles, capable of domestic tasks. But females also have boobs, capable of attracting males romantically, and, as a future consequence, nurturing a family.

As a woman, I am offended by these people who cry sexism and racism at every turn. It’s women like this I would definitely not want to be president. Don’t get me wrong. It is NOT that I would not vote for a woman but she would be the kind who is self assured and wouldn’t cry sexism every time someone criticized her. Women like that are horrible bosses in the workplace.

      @FOOTBALL LADY…

I totally agree .. some of the worst bosses I have ever had were women like that. That does NOT mean that I would not vote for a woman .. but it has to be the RIGHT woman … not just because she is a woman anymore than blacks should support a candidate based being black. .. or a man because he is a man …etc.

      FOOTBALL LADY AND CATB ~

As a woman, I agree with you two. By the way, have you ever had any dealings with a woman cop? lol! Attitude unbelievable.

I understand and completely accept that there are roles specifically for a man and those that are for a woman. If someone wants to discuss or debate what those are according to the Bible, I am open for it. There is no offense taken here. It is not demeaning to me. Actually, rather helpful. We have to try and shed all the ‘women’s lib’ propaganda that has been fed to us for decades.

This doesn’t concern me nearly as much as Ricks family history in combination with his congressional voting record.
As for a woman being the President, why not?
As long as she is a constitutionally sound individual, and not a socialist/communist I could vote for a woman.
And the Usurper tyrant we have now sets such a low standard, even I would get rave reviews.

To be blunt, this doesn‘t bother me nearly so much as Mitt giving away the GOP’s biggest issue in the upcoming election: http://wp.me/p1HGwx-21K

      @AH
Indeed, another reason why “mittens” won’t be getting my vote. Besides he is a globalist New World Order socialist telling us “great empty words” to get our vote, not going to happen.

“mark” has his figures wrong. Health care reform repeal fails in every poll outside the Heritage Foundation. And when individual parts of the reform are polled, they all have favorable polling results. The real problem is Republicans coming up with something to replace it with. Voters don’t want more pro-insurance company legislation, and that’s all the GOP has now that they have taken a billion dollars from big insurance. Repeal is potential political suicide.
