Santorum & Team Suggest Romney May Have ‘Alliance’ With Ron (or Rand?) Paul

After Wednesday’s GOP debate, in which Ron Paul and Mitt Romney repeatedly attacked Rick Santorum over his 16-year record in Congress, the former Pennsylvania hinted that something nefarious was going on.
‘You have to ask Congressman Paul and Governor Romney what they’ve got going together,’ Santorum told reporters in the spin room in Mesa, Arizona. ‘Their commercials look a lot alike and so do their attacks.’
Santorum’s top strategist John Brabender went even further, charging that the two men had “joined forces” and were coordinating attacks against his man.
‘Clearly there’s a tag team strategy between Ron Paul and Mitt Romney. For all I know, Mitt Romney might be considering Ron Paul as his running mate. Clearly there is now an alliance between those two and you saw that certainly in the debate.’
Earlier today, Chuck Todd, NBC News’ political director and host of MSNBC’s “Daily Rundown,” rhetorically asked: “Just what has Romney promised Ron Paul.”
Nobody knows if some sort of bargain has been made, but it is interesting that Rep. Ron Paul has never really attacked Mitt Romney, yet he has frequently attacked more conservative candidates at just the moment they were beginning to pose a threat to Romney. (For example, consider his latest ad, attacking Rick Santorum.)
The timing has been noticeable.
Now, a Kentucky media outlet, WFPL News, might be offering us a clue:
“Kentucky’s junior senator says it would be an honor to be considered as a possible running mate for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
… After a speech in Louisville today, [Sen. Rand] Paul held that door firmly open, saying he wants to be part of the national debate.
… ‘I don’t know if I can answer that question, but I can say it would be an honor to be considered,’ he said.”

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 8:19amRick Santorum – the latest candidate to try and establish himself as the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney – was hit hard.
But instead of backing down tonight, he had the audacity to defend his Big Government record, including:
>>> Voting for Title X funding, which sends tens of millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood;
>>> Campaigning and endorsing Arlen Specter in a tough Republican Primary versus a true conservative – Pat Toomey;
>>> Voting for bailouts and raising the debt ceiling five times.
He even said at one point having limited government is nothing more than a pipe dream and hinted that the problems with existing Big Government programs, are more Big Government programs!
These are hardly the marks of a conservative.

The Romney campaign ridiculed the notion there was any coordination. “If ever there was an iconoclast who got up there and said what he believed it’s Ron Paul,” said Stuart Stevens, Romney’s chief strategist.
“The President of the United States‘s political action committee is now running ads that are just like Rick Santorum’s. Is Rick Rick Santorum coordinating with the President of the United States? I don’t think so.
“So I think that’s a sort of whiny silliness. It would not even be a question if he [Santorum] felt that he’d answered these questions better.
“To say, ‘People are ganging up on me’ in a debate where there‘s only four people in the debate and they’re raising questions kind of speaks for itself.”

MITT ROMNEY DOES NOTHING FOR SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES.
-ran as a pro-choice governor
-signed legislation limiting gun ownership
-grew government with Romneycare
I can see why fiscal conservatives want Romney, but NO REPUBLICAN CAN WIN IF SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES STAY HOME ON ELECTION DAY!!!
Obama can’t win if he loses Pennsilvania (Santorum’s home state)
Obama can’t win if he loses Catholics by a wide margin (Santorum’s faith)
most importantly…Romney can‘t win if he can’t excite social conservatives to show up and vote
Fiscal conservatives will vote for Santorum to protect their wealth from Communist Obama
BUT SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES GET NOTHING FROM ROMNEY

During his time in the Senate, Santorum voted to:
*** Give millions of taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood;
*** Raise the debt ceiling five times;
*** DOUBLE the size of the Department of Education through the budget-busting and unconstitutional “No Child Left Behind” bill;
*** Start a brand new, unfunded entitlement, Medicare Part D, the largest expansion of entitlement spending since President Lyndon Johnson – creating $16 TRILLION in unfunded liabilities;
*** Stand with senators like Barbara Boxer and Frank Lautenberg to pass massive new federal gun control schemes and regulations;
*** Keep workers under Big Labor’s thumb by voting against a National Right to Work law;
*** Send $25 million in taxpayer dollars to North Korea;
*** Pass Sarbanes-Oxley, which imposed dramatic new job-killing accounting regulations on businesses.
Dr. Ron Paul in the only real contrast to Obama that can win.

One thing I notice from last night’s debate is that you could really tell who the Washington Political insiders were on the stage. They really know how to work the Washington system. This is what I am sick of. Santorum said he supported Title 10 because he had too, but he started Title 20 in order to counteract Title 10. Now that really makes since, spend twice the original amount. No wonder why Washington insiders are so warpped. I want a Title 30, that deunds both Title 10 and 20.

Rand is not as dogmatic as Dr Paul. He would calm the masses in the long run and bring us over the top to defeat the idiot in Chief. If FOX fired him for supporting Paul,that just tells me that FOX is no different than MSM in supporting big government progressives like Gingrich and Santorum.
I am one of the few on this site, that truly believes that Romney is for a reduction in the size and intrusiveness of the Federal Government. Romney because he was a governor believes in state‘s rights not the Federal government usurping state’s rights. FOX has really been active in supporting and promoting the ABR candidates. FOX gives the ABR candidates free media access by promoting the ABR candidates positively on their nightly TV cable shows and their daily radio shows. This gives the ABR candidates the ability to surge in polls with limited funds.

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 2:22amActually, I got the same impression. Ron Paul and Romney are quite similar. I guess that is why they both annoy me!
People complain about Obama not being a Christian, and then they want to vote for a Mormon.
Report Post »People complain that Obama won’t stop illegal immigration, and then they want to vote for Ron Paul, who is against building a fence.

Fix the economy and immigratio isnt an issue. And who is the economic expert on the stage?

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 10:49amNot to mention Ron Paul is pro-fence. He says defend our own borders first.

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:19amActually, I always understood as, “The fastest way to get someone to do something, is to forbid them to do it.” So, that being said, that fence will be begging to be climbed…
Besides, Ron Paul is about getting rid of the welfare state, which should stem most of the illegal immigrant problem. Why come here, if you can’t get free stuff anymore?

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 11:22amHere’s an idea Blaze: implement an ‘ignore’ feature for the users, so we can ignore inane comments like the one above. Thanks! That way, we can just ignore the trolls.

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 2:05amSantorum doesn‘t realize that the reason Ron Paul’s and Mitten‘s messages sound similar is because they are pointing out the same things based on Santorum’s voting record. It’s not a tag-team. It’s a clear case of “If the shoe fits…”

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 1:46amRon has attacked Rick on his record before…I don’t see it. Is Rick going to take a page out of Newt’s book and whine? They always go after the front runner,

Posted on February 23, 2012 at 1:52amunless you’re Ron Paul, then you only attack the conservative front runner.
