Sarah Jokes: ‘Palin, in Iowa, Decides to Run’

I have a new theory for the left wing to start spreading around: Christine O’Donnell was cooked up to make Sarah Palin look like a serious elder stateswoman. And Palin never dabbled in witchcraft. That we know of.
So let’s get serious. Out there in Iowa — sounds like it was some kind of speech:
Sarah Palin offered a full-throated call to arms for angry and out-of-power Republicans on Friday in front of an audience of some of the nation’s most influential party activists as the headliner for a sold-out Iowa GOP fundraiser in Des Moines.
You can hear the “Decides to Run” joke in this piece from NBC News:
Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
So yes it was a joke but Colby Hall asks: “What is the phrase again? Many a truth are said in jest?”
The New York Times noted her challenge to the GOP to embrace Tea Party enthusiasm:
“We can’t blow it, G.O.P., but we won’t wait for that political playbook to be handed to us from on high from the political elites. We won’t do that,” Ms. Palin said, speaking over applause. She added, “It may take some renegades to get us there. It may take folks shaking things up to get us there.”

Of all of the current “possible” candidates, is there anyone who has the energy and charisma of Sarah Palin? Of the current “possible” candidates: Palin, Romney, Pawlenty, Gingrich, Huckabee, etc., who is the most vetted, well know, most exciting prospect? Whose conservative credentials are most solid? Who is considered by everyone, on the right, the left and in the middle, to be the anti-obama? Sarah Palin is the one person who can bring Americans together in a common cause; removing our failed president from office and restoring America to her former glory. Palin 2012!

Huckabee is a non-starter after granting clemency to a criminal who later murdered four police officers in cold blood in Washington State.
Jindal has all the charisma of Droopy Dog.

Posted on September 18, 2010 at 4:33pmI was pro-choice 5 years ago. Are you saying that people can’t change their philosophies? Should we just give up on the pro-life debate now?
Yes, at one point Romney was Pro-choice… but so was Reagan. Also during his time in government Romney has always sided with the pro-life agenda.
Romney (working with the Heritage Foundation) at least tried to take on the healthcare issue, and he attempted it through the free market in one of the most liberal states in the union. Anybody who actually takes the time and looks at what Romney did in Massachusetts verses the monstrosity that Obama has created can see the very VERY clear differences.
Look, I’ve debated these very same talking points with the idiots who supported the McCain campaign back in 2008. Don’t come to the table with a cut-and-paste debate.
Romney is a private sector entrepreneur. What has Palin done in the private sector?

Posted on September 18, 2010 at 2:28pmSarah Palin has been in executive level politics for almost 20 years.
Some of Sarah’s accomplishments.
In Alaska, Sarah’s top priorities included fiscal restraint, limiting the size of government, resource development, education, equitable oil valuation as well as transportation and infrastructure development. Sarah Palin fought for ethics reform and transparency in government.
Sarah Palin has a long record of achievement and experience in public office.Prior her election as Governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council and two terms as the mayor of Wasilla. During her tenure, she reduced property tax levels while increasing services and made Wasilla a business-friendly environment, drawing in new industry.
Under her leadership as Governor, Alaska invested $5 billion in state savings, overhauled education funding and protected Alaska’s natural resources. She created Alaska’s Petroleum Systems Integrity Office to provide oversight and maintenance of oil and gas equipment, facilities and infrastructure and the Climate Change Subcabinet to prepare a climate change strategy for Alaska.
During Governor Palin’s first year in office, three of her administrations major proposed pieces of legislation passed—an overhaul of the state’s ethics laws, a competitive process to construct a natural gas pipeline and a restructuring of Alaska’s oil valuation formula.
Palin is past chair of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multistate government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment. She also served as chair of the National Governors Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee, which was charged with pursuing legislation to ensure state needs are considered as federal policy is formulated in the areas of agriculture, energy, environmental protection and natural resource management.
Sarah Palin’s successful efforts to stop the cronyism and reform the energy business in Alaska were so impressive Kay Cashman, the publisher and executive editor of Petroleum News, wrote the book entitled: “Sarah Takes On Big Oil” (http://tinyurl.com/ygkeo2f) . This is a must read for anyone who wants to understand the leadership Sarah Palin has exhibited in the area of reforming government and industry.

Posted on September 18, 2010 at 3:51pmShe quit – she served 2 years and she quit!!! That is some sort of a character flaw! And you really believe she would be the “dream candidate”??
Report Post »EqualJustice
Posted on September 18, 2010 at 4:08pmI applaud her for quitting. She was being forced to spend all her time and money defending herself from all kinds of legal actions and FALSE accusations from the left. That’s what they do when they fear you or think you are a threat. It’s not even funny how the target those consider the ENEMY. They will do ANYTHING to advance their agenda. I love how the liberals force her out and then enjoy portraying her as a QUITTER?
Report Post »She could have stayed, collected her salary and focused on JUST those attacks on her and her family, ignoring the state’s problems. She chose not to. BRAVO Sarah for doing the right thing in that situation for your constituents. Democrats like Rangel and other crooks just STAY and take advantage of the tax payers!
Andrew Ryan
Posted on September 18, 2010 at 4:39pmI agree. Quitting was the right thing for her to do in a no win scenario created by her opponents… But this should also demonstrate how easily her political opponents can maneuver her.
Report Post »Jimt
Posted on September 18, 2010 at 4:47pmShe didn’t quit; she “reloaded” in order to fight for what is right on a fairer battlefield. She promised to keep the frivolous anti-Palin law suits away from the Alaskan people ( saving the state tax money and time) and to be more effective on the stump ( supporting candidates , fund raising, etc) Sarah Palin was truthful on both accounts. Sarah Palin resigned because she recognized the cost that the frivolous ethics complaints were having on her state , and she saw how much of her staff’s time and her own time were forced to deal with those issues. She wasn’t able to effectively fulfill her role as Governor, so she passed the reins onto someone who didn’t have to be concerned that if he sneezed in the Lower 48, an ethics complaint would be thrown at him.
Palin’s entire administration was paralyzed by those frivolous complaints.
She wasn’t going to allow those intent on destroying her to destroy the state.
She saw that if she stayed on as Governor it would continue to cost the state millions of dollars in wasted time and resources to defend against false and maliciously ethics complaints and doom the state to gridlock. The bottom line is that Sarah Palin hates to waste time and money, and this would have been the inevitable result of her remaining in office and fighting these political attacks disguised as “ethics” complaints. Sarah Palin had to step down for the better of her state and it was the honorable thing to do.
Report Post »She simply took the fight to a new battlefield.
Sarah Palin instead knew she could fight for Alaskans and Americans outside of office and she has most definitely done that.
Andrew Ryan
Posted on September 18, 2010 at 4:58pmYeah… for some reason I don’t think replacing the word “quitting” with “reloading” will pick up in the national political dialog.

Report Post »I see this same logic from about 90% of Liberal posts. “We leftists are much smarter than everyone else, We are more educated, We are enlightened beings that just inherently know how to run your life better than your small brain could possibly understand, blah blah blah” I think you would be surprised to find out that the majority of Democrats are in fact not highly educated people. Most do not have college degrees. But more importantly, your ilk always confuse education with wisdom. The fact is that wisdom is gained through experience, not text books. The longer one spends in school, the less likely they are to know how things really work in the real world. They live in a haze of ideals and notions of some nirvana society in which all people have equal stuff, rather than all people being given equal opportunity. Academics like Obama and his cabinet are ill-suited to run a country, since they have never successfully managed anything that had to sustain itself without taxpayer support, such as a business. And by the way, there is no such thing as Redistribution of Wealth. There is only Redistribution of Poverty. The idea of taking from the “Haves” and giving to the “Have Nots” results in everyone being a ‘Have Not”. If you took 100% of the money from everyone who earns over 200k per year, and distributed it equally to everyone else, the result would be that everyone would have an income of $47k per year. Not exactly gonna be able to afford that $42,000 Chevy Volt with that kind of measly income are you? but then everyone would be taxed on 47k per year to try and run the country, which means that all your blessed social welfare programs would necessarily be cut, because there is no money to run them. Suddenly we would be in third world nation status with an econmy as vibrant as , let’s say, Ecuador. But it all sure looks good on the chalkboard at Berklee, so the rest of us are just “uneducated racist rednecks” because we don’t agree….

Ravenmaven: I very much agree. However, the root of the problems stretches beyond one young life-time, one trip into educational-lized corrupt insanity. There are plenty who can, and who do, transverse these over-abstracted depositories of non-reality based, gibbering heights, even amongst the ivy league mind benders. You apparently have suffered, successfully, through such a ridiculous, no-rubber-meets-road, intellectual garbage heap, built a mile in the sky. If an individual seeks ‘higher education’ well grounded in the grass roots of what works, then escaping, relatively undamaged, will likely result. This goes to parents, extended families, and communities. However, the sons and daughters of the elite, are a very unfortunate lot, frequently totally deprived of the workings of the world. Then on top of that, since they have all the connections, they get catapulted into stardom, and we all share part of that blame. Kings and Kingdoms, Dynasties, are built, and eventfully fall, on this ancient model, we all thought rejected. That is why term limits become increasingly critical. Additionally, we, the great majority of the electorate, who make this world work, because we do the work, must spot these ridiculous misfits in the making.
Of course the subject consumed, also in part bends the workable aptitude of its participants. A study of the history of Social Studies in the academia world is a parade of one strain of thought debunking the mentor while forging new niceties for future disciples to debunk. ‘We do not believe that anymore,’ becomes the only ongoing truth. And a heavy does of such discipline has been the mainstay of our elected leaders. If Academia ever paused to study the endless onslaught of their weird menagerie of half-truth, left-for-dead and even outright flimflam teachings they would hang heads in shame. But no, they stay fixed to the present, confident their debunkers do not know enough yet to get the job done. Truth becomes wholly relative to the voices of tenure, and thus dies.

* This is going to be the political battle of the century
* The regular folks will be the deciding factor
* the left will become violent
* the unions will become violent
* the tea party will not become violent
* Many career politicians will be sent to pasture
* many more will be told to pay attention to the real business of government, or get out
if we decide to fix the problems and not just bandage the broke pieces, it will be painful and unpleasant. we’ve got to make the unpopular choice when it comes to entitlements, and that will be difficult because we have so many who are dependent upon the progressive system. The same system that started these programs that did the damage in the first place.

Posted on September 19, 2010 at 1:29amI really like Sarah Palin, but she cannot win. We must have someone in that can win. Sarah is a great energizer and organizer. But running for President we must have someone that is sure to beat Obama. It will get very dirty from the left. Neither should Newt Gingrich run, he is a person with a past that is disgusting. No matter how smart he is he could not win. Let’s come up with a winner and put Sarah on the Cabinet.

Posted on September 19, 2010 at 11:54am@ golden years As we speak, obama is being thrown under the bus by his bosses. He has become a liability for them. They may even “unseal’ his resume. These people are pragmatic. Hillary Clinton has turned on him in her bid to run for POTUS. Between the two girls, Palin is more electable, mainly because, we the people, are SICK of elitism
Report Post »The major issue this year and in 2012 will be numbers. Do the progressives have enough indentured servants to elect more progressives, or are there enough free people voting to get an edge.
The ‘values’ voters could be the block to get it done.

some quotes
“Nearly 44 million people were living in poverty last year, which is more than 14 percent of the population.”
“Median family incomes were 5 percent lower in 2009 than they were a decade earlier. The Harvard economist Lawrence Katz told The Times, “This is the first time in memory that an entire decade has produced essentially no economic growth for the typical American household.””
“An Associated Press article, based on recent polling, summed the matter up: “Glum and distrusting, a majority of Americans today are very confident in — nobody.””

Posted on September 18, 2010 at 1:37pmYou answered a good bit of your own question. Are domestic drilling and tax cuts NOT economical issues? I keep hearing about “tax cuts for the wealthy” but what most apparently don’t seem to realize is that we are not talking about cutting taxes further. We are simple trying to extend the current tax and not raise them to pre-Bush levels.
Report Post »Calling it “tax cuts for the wealthy” makes it sound appealing to the left, )like an “ overseas contingency operation to combat creators of man made disasters”) but we are talking about anyone making over 200k. How many small business fit into this category. How does RAISING taxes on small business promote expansion or hiring of new employees? It simply doesn’t. Dont’ take my nazi, right wing radical, racist and whatever else the left would like to portray me as, word for it. Look at history. Tax cuts promote job growth, raising taxes hinder job growth. Its economics 101

Posted on September 18, 2010 at 1:49pmOf the 44 million Americans “living in poverty” 34 million of them are living a higher standard of life than nearly half of the rest of the world!!! Count the Televisions, refrigerators and freezers, two car families, telephones, computers.Every household has running water hot and cold. Americas “poor” are wealthy in comparison. Visit Mexico. Posted on September 18, 2010 at 2:19pmNo politician in my memory has ever been subjected to the inarguable savaging that Sarah Palin endured after her remarkably effective speech at the ‘08 GOP convention and still she is standing strong!
I hope she will run; Sarah Palin’s positions are widely shared. She opposes the health care law — so does the public. She’s concerned about the federal deficit — so is the public
Report Post »Sarah Palin supports the Arizona illegal immigration law — so does the public.
She support energy independence –so is the public.
Sarah is standing with the majority of Americans who feel the same way she does on healtcare , smaller government , lower taxes , energy independence and securing the borders.

Posted on September 18, 2010 at 3:07pmYeah, I guess I must be one of those un-edjumacated hicks as well because I’m a bit confused as to how the Herbert Op-Ed quotes have anything to do with Palin. I read those same stats and thought, yeah, so much for all the stimulus packages and TARP bill, and unemployment benefit extensions and other assorted plans to pull us out of this economic mess. Including, by the way, the ones that started under Bush in late 2008. Let me see….. Obama president all year 2009, Democrats holding both houses in Congress since 2006. But the conclusions drawn have to do with Palin’s positions on the economy? And it isn’t specified what the statistics were that led AP to their, ahem, “unbiased” conclusions, but I doubt “glum” really describes a current majority of anyone other than Obama supporters. Which, in case you haven’t noticed, is no longer a majority of American voters.

The PROGRESSIVE income tax should be lowered to 7% across all brackets…ALL men were created EQUAL!! Nowhere does it say unless you have more money…That’s progressive…
Or I guess the top 2% should take every dime they have and leave the U.S.!!!! Then what would we do???

Posted on September 19, 2010 at 6:37amIt is interesting how the left will tell you what it is they are afraid of. Whatever their venom is aimed is what threatens them the most. The more empty the rhetoric and meanspirited it is, the greater their fear. Of course they will also help you with your strategies and how you should deal with “their” fears. Sarah i think scares them the most because their usual methods don’t seem to get any traction on her. People just go on liking and listening to her in growing numbers, oblivious to the left’s attemps to besmirch and discredit. So long as the media is savaging Sarah Palin, I know she is still relevant. A trait that is elusive for the left and their agenda.

Report Post »There is NO political solution to our malady. It is a spiritual problem.
The progressives have groomed and TRAINED generations of Americans to be poor, and stay poor. Now,they have a voting block who are indentured, through entitlements, to the very idea of the nanny state. The push, now, is to bring us all to our knees, before the great provider (big govt.). You want a job? You must work for the government. You want your kids to be educated? We’ll take care of that. You need health insurance? We’ve got you covered. Hungry? Here is the menu. On and on.
If the progressives get what they want, there will be a federal regulation for every detail of your life,
and we all know how good the government is at getting the job done, don’t we?
Just picture the country headed by these people in perpetuity. Not a pretty picture. Vote them all out as they come up for re-election. Institute term limits. Restore REPRESENTATIVE government. Pray continually. Cherish the Word.
