The message on Sarah Palin’s Facebook page is simple: “Congratulations, America! And thank you, voters!”
It’s followed by this:
Sounds a lot like a campaign speech, doesn’t it?

Say what you will about Jimmy Carter, but it would be a gross misrepresentation to suggest that he was is an elitist, so your claim that Palin would be the first non-elitist president is just plain silly. Now, that begs the question: do you want another Jimmy Carter?
While I wouldn’t normally respond to you, there are new people who may not know your intent so…
Silly…Hummm…..now granted those times are much different than they are now, still…Carter grew up on a large southern plantation and according to his museum, “the Carters were one of the most prosperous families in the community” and their farm grew into the largest peanut farmers in the region with “4,000 acres, worked by mostly black tenant farmers” – so his family owned slaves and according to my history lessons that means he was one of the southern elites. Carter also graduated from the Naval Academy! Now contrast that with…Sarah Palin – family of teachers and guidance counselors (and because I am a teacher, I know they were not rich!) and she graduated from the University of Idaho. The only reason she is making money now is because of the media and I, like many others, love it! And to the part about wanting another Carter…you just hope she is as you are so worried about her winning..lol…does my heart good so keep it up!

Posted on November 4, 2010 at 12:42pmYes! Those elite farmers! And Naval officers! Carter’s father was a farmer and a businessman who built himself up to become a prominent member of their community in rural Georgia. Is it just me, or is that something most Tea Party-ers would celebrate?
Some of you folks just don’t even know who you hate anymore, do you? You attack someone and label them elite because they were a farmer who served their country in the Navy? By the way, you forgot to mention that President Carter’s mother was a registered nurse–clearly one of those spoiled southern belles!
By the way, according to MY knowledge of history, in 1924, when Carter was born, there were no slaves. I think you missed the heyday of the plantation elite by around 130 years. But thanks for playing!

Posted on November 4, 2010 at 6:42pmI‘m glad you don’t own slaves Dimmuborgir. Neither did Jimmy Carter! Somehow though, I doubt that you were ever really crippled by white guilt. Does this mean that society should ignore the lasting social and economic consequences of slavery, the failure of Reconstruction, Lynch law and Jim Crow? No, but that’s a whole other argument. My point was that Jimmy Carter was not some “Gone with the Wind” style plantation elite. Just had to correct some faulty history (happens a lot here).

Posted on November 4, 2010 at 9:28amSarah Palin has been in executive level politics for almost 20 years.
Some of Sarah’s accomplishments.
In Alaska, Sarah’s top priorities included fiscal restraint, limiting the size of government, resource development, education, equitable oil valuation as well as transportation and infrastructure development. Sarah Palin fought for ethics reform and transparency in government.
Sarah Palin has a long record of achievement and experience in public office.Prior her election as Governor, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla City Council and two terms as the mayor of Wasilla. During her tenure, she reduced property tax levels while increasing services and made Wasilla a business-friendly environment, drawing in new industry.
Under her leadership as Governor, Alaska invested $5 billion in state savings, overhauled education funding and protected Alaska’s natural resources. She created Alaska’s Petroleum Systems Integrity Office to provide oversight and maintenance of oil and gas equipment, facilities and infrastructure and the Climate Change Subcabinet to prepare a climate change strategy for Alaska.
During Governor Palin’s first year in office, three of her administrations major proposed pieces of legislation passed—an overhaul of the state’s ethics laws, a competitive process to construct a natural gas pipeline and a restructuring of Alaska’s oil valuation formula.
Governor Palin’s “business experience” comes with the negotiations and dealings she has had with one of the most powerful industries in the world: the energy industry. This includes the negotiations on what will be the largest private infrastructure project in North American history. Governor Palin has successfully negotiated new tax structures, lease deals and other issues that arise in the Alaska energy industry.
At the end of the day, Governor Palin negotiated billion dollar deals with one of the toughest industries in the world.
Sarah Palin is past chair of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multistate government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment. She also served as chair of the National Governors Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee, which was charged with pursuing legislation to ensure state needs are considered as federal policy is formulated in the areas of agriculture, energy, environmental protection and natural resource management.
Sarah Palin’s successful efforts to stop the cronyism and reform the energy business in Alaska were so impressive Kay Cashman, the publisher and executive editor of Petroleum News, wrote the book entitled: “Sarah Takes On Big Oil” .
This is a must read for anyone who wants to understand the leadership Sarah Palin has exhibited in the area of reforming government and industry!!
While Governor Palin has a history of being a reformer and taking on powerful interests for the benefit of ordinary people, Obama’s history is that of a tool of special interests, be they unions, trial lawyers, ACORN, or Wall Street.

Sarah didn’t “quit”; she reloaded in order to fight for what is right on a fairer battlefield.
She promised to keep the frivolous anti-Palin law suits away from the Alaskan people ( saving tax money and time) and to be more effective on the stump ( supporting candidates , fundraising, etc)
Sarah Palin was truthful on both accounts
In an article Sarah Palin said:
“I said, ‘Enough. Political adversaries and their political friends in the media will not destroy my State, my administration, nor my family. Enough.’ I knew if I didn’t play their game any longer, they could not win. I would not retreat, I would instead reload, and I would fight for what is right from a different plane.”
Sarah Palin resigned because she recognized the cost that the frivolous ethics complaints were having on her state , and she saw how much of her staff’s time and her own time were forced to deal with those issues. She wasn’t able to effectively fulfill her role as Governor, so she passed the reins onto someone who didn’t have to be concerned that if he sneezed in the Lower 48, an ethics complaint would be thrown at him.
Sarah Palin’s entire administration was paralyzed by those frivolous complaints, only an idiot wouldn’t be able to see or admit that.
She saw that if she stayed on as Governor it would continue to cost the state millions of dollars in wasted time and resources to defend against false and maliciously ethics complaints and doom it to gridlock.
Sarah had to step down for the better of her state and it was the honorable thing to do.
She promised that she would “effect positive change outside of Government”, and she has most definitely done that.
Sarah has been able to speak more boldly for both Alaska and all Americans for the conservative principles this country was founded on now that she is outside of office and without the concern of a possible ethics violation been thrown at her.
Sarah Palin told us all why she resigned when she resigned. If some people still don’t get it, well, that’s their problem

Again, Governor Palin stepped down for the right reasons—she did not want to see her state government continue to get bogged down with inane “ethics” complaints that were transparently political, plainly partisan, and diverting state resources.
She saw that if she stayed on as Governor it would cost the state millions of dollars in wasted time and resources to defend against false and maliciously ethics complaints and doom it to gridlock. She knew that it would also continue to cost the state hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend against false and maliciously filed ethics complaints.
Palin’s entire administration was paralyzed by those frivolous complaints, only an idiot wouldn’t be able to see or admit that.

Posted on November 4, 2010 at 1:46pmPUBLIUSPENCILMAN: She DIDN’T quit because she was selfish, she left because she was selfless (big difference)
Your point is betting boring……
Sarah Palin was Governor of Alaska for 2 1/2 years (including 3 legislative sessions ; there are 4 legislative sessions) before she was forced to RESIGN due to frivolous ethics complaints, the prospect of facing personal bankruptcy, and the fact that her state could not be governed effectively anymore due to the amount of time her administration was spending in fighting the ethics complaints. All of this thanks to her opponents trying to destroy her personally and politically.

Aware of the damage that their success will do to our republic. Aware of their deepest desire, which is for us to go back to sleep. I have to disagree wth you on that one. You are making the same mistake the dems made when they underestimated (greatly) what the people really want, and Sarah was instrumental in bringing everyone together to fight the dems at their own game. If they didn’t believe in her and her message there probably would not have been the grass roots movement that has become a sensation. You can’t speak for everyone else because you disagree with her. And, regarding her “quitting” on the people of Alaska, since she was in a lame duck position for her final two years, and considering what she has done for conservatives everywhere since she left, I would say she did the right thing. but that’s just me.

That’s a good idea; call Joe Miller and ask him what he thinks of Sarah Palin. If not for her no one outside of his district would even know his name, and he did manage to beat a very established and popular Murkowski in the primary with Palin’s help. It was only a very successful last minute push from the Murkowski supporters that enabled her to win. Also, I want to make it clear that I DO NOT suggest that the ends justify the means because I, too, think politicians should serve the full terms they were elected to serve. However, how can you not support her decision (whether you like her or not) after what she and her family were subjected too, and with the pleading of her millions of supporters to help the party when the party was in such dire straights? I, for one, will not hold that against her.

Report Post »I would do a cartwheel is the President agreed that his policies are bad for America and step down. Then I would do two more if Joe Biden skipped being sworn in and turned the reigns over to soon to be Speaker Boehner.
As an Alaskan, I would have loved to see her finish her term because of what she was doing for this state (giving my family an extra $1200 to help pay the outrageous heating fuel bills), but unfortunately, the far left attack machine wouldn’t allow her the time to do her job. Did you know she had to go through an investigation for wearing a coat with the name of her husband’s Irondog sponsor on it? Please tell me why the complaint was even filed? She was supporting her husband in a race and the local media (also covering the race) flocked to her because of who she is. She was not conducting business yet was accused of misusing her office for personal gain. Then she is forced to take a month off to defend herself against this petty charge. This is just one of about 13 that were filed. In all, she was guilty of claiming too much on her travel vouchers (although another person approved the voucher for payment), which she immediately paid back. She did the right thing to quit because she knew the far left attack machine wouldn’t quit and it was preventing her from continuing the fight for our state.
Another aspect of this is that she had someone ready and able to take over and get things done. By doing so, he was just elected as governor with about 70% of the vote. I wonder if anyone will say anything negative about Nancy Pelosi quitting (wishful thinking?) a couple of months after winning an election. My money says it won’t be mentioned once.
Just my thoughts!

Posted on November 4, 2010 at 9:33amCan we just all agree that the conservative women in the works right now are amazingly hot?
I know, I know, I’m a pig or something, but I can’t deny my love for smart, conservative, gorgeous women who seem to spend some time in the gym as well.
…and there goes my focus for the rest of the day

Posted on November 4, 2010 at 10:25amI no longer care about how well spoken politicians are or how they are painted in the news…I believe in Palin for one reason and one reason only. She is an HONEST woman, despite unrelenting opposition she has yet to stray from her original message and core beliefs. Palin believes in you and I and that holds a tremendous amount of weight in my eyes.
