Sarah Palin Jabs Michelle Obama Over Dessert During TV Show

On Sunday night’s episode of “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” the feisty former governor took a jab at Michelle Obama’s war on sweets and “unhealthy” eating. The show featured Palin and family on a road trip, during which they decided to make s’mores. While looking for the ingredients, Palin joked about what Michelle might think (via Politico):
After whitewater rafting, it was back to the road, where the family and extended family made s’mores. “Where are the s’mores ingredients?” Sarah asked, after she vacuumed the floor of the RV. When she found them, she declared, “This is in honor of Michelle Obama, who said the other day we should not have dessert.”

Posted on December 20, 2010 at 1:54pmI don’t get it. Why does everyone want to eat “healthy” and live into their 80‘s o 90’s so someone(read: your kids) can change their diapers again? Why not eat what you like, be a decent person but enjoy life along the way, get a “little” exercise doing it and if God takes you home early with a heart attack, well, how can you go wrong with that? You’ll be in Heaven!
Oh, I forgot, live loooooong so you will outlast your retirement income and get sick and/or senile. Then we will need bigger government to take care of you. How silly of me, fits right into the progressive plan.

——————————————————————————————————————————————
Everyone concentrates on the problems we’re having in the United States lately: Illegal immigration, hurricane recovery, alligators attacking people in FLORIDA … Not me ~ I concentrate on solutions for the problems ~ it’s a win-win situation.
* Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border.
* Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levees.
* Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.
Any other problems you would like for me to solve today?
Think about this:
1. Cows
2. The Constitution
3. The Ten Commandments
COWS
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow born in Canada almost three years ago right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington?
And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.
THE CONSTITUTION
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for IRAQ … why don’t we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years and we’re not using it anymore.
THE 10 COMMANDMENTS
The real reason that we can’t have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this ~ you cannot post
‘Thou Shalt Not Steal’
‘Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery’
‘Thou Shall Not Lie’
in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians because it creates a hostile work environment.
Also, think about this … if you don’t want to forward this for fear of offending someone ~ YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!
GIT R DONE!

Posted on December 20, 2010 at 1:50pmChildhood obesity is a growing cause of concern in the US, which itself is one of the fattest nations in the world. As many as 1/3 of children and teenagers are overweight, and face increaed likelyhood of diabetes and heart disease, among a large list of other health problems. Everyone here knows or should know this is a serious, nation problem.
But, because of the association with Obama, the problem is treated with scorn and ridicule. As I’ve said many times, it is amazing how politics, here at least, trumps common sense. Those here will embrace any politician or idea, no matter how offensive or revolting, provided it is “against” Obama.
Go right ahead and cheer for America to feed sugar and lard to it’s children. Throw your support behind having the fattest children and adults on Earth. Mock any attempt to educate people about the short and long term health effect of being overweight. With your support, we can further decrease the lifespan of the average American. Stand proud in your support of fat kids!

Posted on December 20, 2010 at 2:07pmKids are fat today because the Feminazis fed women the line of bull that having a career was far more important than raising their children. Now the only meal preparation they do is to pick up fast food and give their kid anything he wants because of their own guilt of not being around. Posted on December 20, 2010 at 2:09pmHey…jzs
You know why kids are fat? They sit around on their butts playing video games, watching TV and texting. When I was a kid, I did not get fat even though I ate french fries, hamburgers and lots of other fattening things because I rode a bike to school or walked. Walked down the tracks to go fishing, five miles down the way… and walked back with fish. We walked, we ran, we biked, we hiked, we camped, we also worked on weekends. Nowadays, parents drive their kids 4 blocks to school.
Report Post »That is why kids are fat.
And, Michelle is legislating what kids can eat. Nanny state. Don’t let parents off the hook… lay it all on them.
By the way, are you in favor of making it illegal to sell french fries within 3 miles of a school? Think that is not far down the rode at this rate?
4theRepublic
Posted on December 20, 2010 at 2:09pm@JZS… the biggest travesty is that parents would rather the government raise their kids, tell them what to eat, tell them to go outside yadda yadda yadda. They put junk food and go to McDonalds instead of taking time and making a good meal for their kids… I, like Sarah, make my kids go out side, I NEVER take them to places like McDonalds (they call me the nutrition Nazi, I’m sure it is out of love) and this is why my kids are not over weight. I don’t take our health lightly. HOWEVER!, no one needs to tell me how to raise my kids, no one needs to tell you either. That is what is being ridiculed.

But with their socialist policies such as national health care being jammed down our throats against our will, they obviously think they have a right to control what we eat now since they’re giving us “free” health care. What’s next from the great socialist Nanny State? Mandatory home bathtub inspections to check the slipperiness factor? Weigh-ins at motor vehicles with surcharges if you’re too heavy? Posted on December 20, 2010 at 3:03pmTo jzs, When people used lard in cooking obesity was not a problem in the U.S. The problem is not the food that we eat it is the activity level. The government has mandated that schools should restrict recess games like, tag, dodgeball, basketball, basesball and about everything that a child could get hurt doing but then they start a new program for obesity. Government interfrence solves one problem but then causes two more which then need to be fixed. I saw the other day a buch of Amish school kids sledding on their recess on metal runner sleds. This required them to walk up the hill to sled back down. This activity would not be allowed at a government run school. You don’t see many fat Amish kids.

Posted on December 20, 2010 at 3:56pm@JZS – Once again you fail to grasp the concept of individual responsibility. Kids are fat because they are lazy and have lazy parents. Video games have infiltrated our homes and given kids an option to virtualize their activities instead of running, biking, throwing and whatever. Again, this goes with the parent‘s responsibility and not Michelle Obama’s or any other politician to make policy against the way I raise my children. The conservatives that vehemently disagree with you have nothing against Obama, they just have something against ANY individual that proclaims another avenue to run your life because they feel you are too stupid to do it yourself. This is also a futile effort by Michelle as lazy, worthless parents will continue to be lazy regardless. We are an obese nation because we have individuals who practice laziness and take the road less travelled, but it is still an INDIVIDUAL problem, not a collective problem. Once again, liberals FAIL to see that decisions cause ripples in the country and this backlash is justified. Why can‘t Michelle Obama break out the Constitution and push the knowledge factor to its highest by emphasizing the importance in knowing your country’s history and its founding documents. Now THAT is something that I would get behind and support to the highest regard.

Posted on December 20, 2010 at 4:22pmjzl,
While there may be a problem with a lot of kids as well as adults being overweight the whole point of this site and why most people come here (in my humble opinion) is due to us having the mindset that we know what is best for us and our families.
While Michelle has to make it look like she is doing something productive between her trips/vacations childhood obesity is a worthy cause. My wife actually works for a bariatrics Dr and sees people with weight issues every day. While as Americans we may over eat is still is a free country. One can eat as much or as little as we like. Ea person that is an adult is responsible for them selves and if they have children then they are also responsible for their health as well.
What I think most people is saying here is while is seems a worthy goal to seek to make things better for obese children it is just another step towards a government state where we are not allowed or expected to think or make decisions for ourselves. While this actually appeals to some people (that is why there is leftest movement so to speak) it goes again everything I know and believe as a man. I too am a little “over weight” but I know the effects it has on me and I take the responsibly of the effects. The government has gotten too involved in everyday life for us all. Telling us how to eat is just another step in a direction many are not willing to go regardless of the cost. So while you defend Michelle for her statement you are defending the government to mandate to me and my family how we should eat/live. This is the problem between us (conservatives constitutional independent Americans) vs (progressive socialist communist brain dead followers). This is a difference one cannot fix or change as we both actually do not and can not come to an agreement on issues regarding what we both feel are our freedoms and what our government has a right to control on our daily lives. This will go on as long as we have these discussions. We are political enemies and one seeks to over come the other as in any war between to opposing armies. One seeks to enforce their will against the other…………….. I know where I stand, are you sure where you stand………………………MERRY CHRISTMAS BY THE WAY!

Remember, these are the same people who told us to eat margarine for nearly 50 years. And it’s also interesting how obesity became such a huge problem right after they recrafted the old food pyramid to put Carbohydrates at the bottom and protein second only to fats. This generation are the children of the carb loaders in the 80‘s and 90’s and those carb loaders were educated by our government.
Add that to the hype about child abduction, which forced many kids into nothing but structured activity or indoors and this is what you get. It is mostly government tweaking and control that has brought us where we are today.

Report Post »Reading and eating are an apples to oranges argument. Knowing how to read and write and communicate effectively are vital in your efforts which increases your intellect and social capability. Eating well is very important, but will not proclude you from success and being told what to eat is very argumentative as some can benefit from certain diets whereas some do not. Michelle is specifically telling children and parents what to eat. Laura Bush was telling you the importance of reading, writing and effectively communicating. Laura’s points were facts built toward a more intelligent country, but that was already agreed upon by Americans since we have institutions of higher learning already in place. Also, Laura was very general in her approach to this subject as there is not absolutes in this area. Michelle wants to dictate how and what we eat and when. Take a look at the lawsuit against McDonalds from a parent claiming that Happy Meals entice kids to eat poorly because they have toys inside. This is the kind of “nanny state” psychology infesting our social structure and some actually believe it. Our country is at its weakest when we rely on help for all facets of life, but we are at our strongest when we can fail and learn to succeed from those failures. Again, GOVERNMENT is the problem….as said by the Honorable Ronald Reagan…RIP!

Posted on December 20, 2010 at 4:51pmJZS, this is not about whether we have a problem. But keep in mind that the Democrats, i.e. the NEA and NFT Unions are the ones that drop PE out of public schools. So fitness became a nay! The problem is not only liberal politics, but the fact that the Obama’s are hypocrites in many aspects including getting rich while condeming others who actually provide jobs and products and services in exchange for their compensations. Bwarney Fwank didn‘t have a problem with all the Dem’s (Franklin Raines, James Johnson, Jaimie Gorilek, et al), including his boyfriend Herb Moses, making millions of dollars raping Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac at the expense of the American Taxpayer. That would be one example of hypocracy. Another hypocracy is the Obama diet. No one claims there is no problem. Stalin had a good cure in Ukraine for all those too healthy farmers. I am just against being dictated to!

It was because our mothers made us go outside and play. We weren’t allowed in the house unless the weather outside was dangerous.
Report Post »But now, most kids are home without parents….. Our society is falling apart because either there is only one parent, or families don’t see the value of a parent at home.
It isn’t the diet that is killing our kids, it’s lack of leadership. If the Obama’s had a brain, they would take up the battle to encourage two parent homes and strong parenting………. instead of controlling our diet.

Posted on December 20, 2010 at 5:55pmLot of comments here and I actually agree with some of you on certain things. But there are two things I don’t understand. “The Government” is not “mandating” anything. The First Lady is a private citizen and can’t mandate, force or require anything. Does she not have the freedom to talk about an issue that is important to her? As somebody said, Laura Bush tried to promote literacy (God knows what you say if Michelle Obama encouraged kids to read), Roslyn Carter’s was mental health I think, Nancy Reagan’s was drug abuse. It‘s a tradition of being First Lady and nobody is mandating nuthin’.
To the “nanny state” people I’ll say this. I agree. I don’t want the government telling me or my children what to eat, but the idea that any law of that kind could ever pass is absurd. But what I have read here is the opposite: when there are articles about schools keeping candy and lard out of the school lunchroom, you guys are all up in arms! Rather than blame the parents for not sending lunch with their kids (any parent can send a pound of lard with their child every day, everywhere in the US) you guys get upset when school remove unhealthy food. You cheer when Palin brings cookies to school. You seem to want the Government to make sure unhealthy food is available to your child, and call foul when it doesn’t.
This is Nanny state in reverse: you want to make sure your tax dollars go to candy, sodas and fat in the school so you don’t have to take responsibility for giving your kids the food you want them to eat (somebody above who really disliked my comments said the same thing, and I agree).
No there is something else going on here. The First Lady hasn’t, and can’t “mandate” what children eat. No law has even been proposed and won’t be proposed. Some school districts have been trying for years to improve the quality of food in schools. And if you don’t like your kid eating healthy food at school, send them with a Twinkie and a pound of lard. Your choice, not the governement’s.
Somebody mentioned exercise and I agree. That’s a part of the problem, a big part IMO. But wait, schools (aka “The Governement”) requires kids to take PE most places. Why aren’t you upset about the governement telling your kid they have to exercise? You would be if Michelle Obama was promoting exercise, that much I know.

If kids got off their lazy backsides and away from the computer and video games and went outside to socialize and get exercise we WOULDN’T have the problem with overweight in this country that we see today. When I grew up we had to run all the way home to use a phone. We couldn’t get dressed fast enough in the morning to get outside and head for the creek or the woods to meet up with friends. Going home was for meals, sleeping and family affair. Kids today are just plain lazy and parents don’t parent their kids leaving them to scarf whatever food they want while at the gaming console.

No, that’s not why kids are fat. We are growing larger in general thanks to many factors, but prime among them are abundance and technology. Despite people’s constant crying, we have tons of cheap, fatty food available everywhere we look. Technology also makes it so that we don’t have to do physical labor in mines all day or walk 5 miles in the snow up hill or any of the other trite hoohah people like to wave their sticks in the air about. This has allowed us to spend less money to obtain more food (specifically, more calories) while burning less calories thanks to not being forced into physical labor. This combination (among other real things, not made up fairy nonsense) has caused an overall increase in the average American.

Falling wages and lost industry are *also* in large part the fault of Progressive policies, just as they are in regard to the decline of the traditional and stable family unit in America. It’s by design, which makes it really evil.
So, no…he did not “completely ignore the fact”. He just didn’t need to add that fact to an already-obvious point of fact.
To make an analogy, your argument would be like saying; “You said that atomic bomb totally destroyed Hiroshima, but you “totally ignored the fact” that there were several kilos of conventional high explosive in that bomb.”

He didn’t need to include it as it only reinforced his point. Progressive policies are in large measure responsible for “falling wages and lost industry” as well as the decline of the traditional, stable family unit which also contributes to our general decline as a vibrant & growing nation.
Your argument is analogous to saying; “You attributed the destruction of Hiroshima to that atomic bomb, but “of course you completely ignore the fact” that there were several kilos of conventional explosives in the bomb.”

The whole point of our argument is that it is not the government’s job to tell us what to do. No matter which side is in, if the fed mandates something like this, then it is wrong.
I can agree that being fat is a problem. If you’re fat, then it’s your own fault; don’t go trying to blame it on something/someone else. Don’t try and get others to dig you out of the hole, either. YOU deal with it.

I would think you‘d be glad he didn’t include falling wages and lost industry, as that is in large part due to Progressive policies as well.
Your argument is akin to arguing; “You said that city in Japan was destroyed by an ‘atomic device’. *Of course you completely ignore the fact* that there were conventional explosives in there too.” as if that changes anything or helps your argument.

Second, that’s not the Federal government and has nothing to do with the First Lady. If the school board in your school district wants prevent cake being sold at school, then vote them out of office. Or don’t you believe in Democracy? If you don’t like the decisions that local school boards make, then perhaps you should live in another country, or maybe you’d prefer a dictatorship with Rush Limbaugh in charge.
Third I don’t want you and your ilk forcing my kid to eat cake. Why would you force the school system to make candy, cake and lard available to all children? Isn‘t that what you’re against?
