Sarah Palin & Marco Rubio Slam Obama on Contraception Mandate

This week, we’ve extensively covered the Catholic Church’s ongoing battle with the Obama administration over a controversial contraception health care mandate (read the complete history here).
While the Catholic Church, in particular, is outraged that affiliated organizations and institutions will be forced to cover contraception, abortion-inducing drugs and sterilization procedures, some prominent political figures are coming out to support the church’s stance. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio are, most notably, standing up for believers’ rights.
In a Facebook post, Palin railed against the contraceptive mandate. In her brief blog post, she mentioned a recent Washington Post column by Michael Gerson. She wrote the following, while invoking the columnist’s words:
As Gershon points out, the timing of Obama‘s most recent slap won’t go unnoticed by the faithful: “In politics, the timing is often the message. On Jan. 20 — three days before the annual March for Life — the Obama administration announced its final decision that Catholic universities, hospitals and charities will be compelled to pay for health insurance that covers sterilization, contraceptives and abortifacients. Preparing for the march, Catholic students gathered for Mass at Verizon Center. The faithful held vigil at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Knights of Columbus and bishops arrived to trudge in the cold along the Mall. All came to Washington in time for their mocking.”
She went on to say that the “faithful at Notre Dame got snookered” and that this decision is how “Obama has shamefully repaid their faith in him.” Here, she’s clearly referring to the president’s 2009 speech at the Catholic college.
In addition to Palin’s response, Rubio is taking legislative action to try and prevent the Health and Human Services department from enacting the contraceptive rule. CNN has more:
Sen. Marco Rubio has introduced the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2012, bringing to the Senate the ever growing charge that President Barack Obama and his administration are violating the rights of religious Americans.
The bill looks to repeal health care reform mandates that “violates religious liberties and conscience rights of faith-based institutions,” Rubio said in a news release. [...]
“The Obama Administration’s obsession with forcing mandates on the American people has now reached a new low by violating the conscience rights and religious liberties of our people,” said Rubio, a Florida Republican.
With the debate continuing to heat up and with the Catholic Church and many other non-Catholic Christian leaders claiming they won’t comply with the regulation, the battle is far from over.

Posted on February 2, 2012 at 9:21amI am so sad that Sarah has abandoned the conservative movement to work for Gingrich. Palin’s support of Gingrich violates everything she (supposedly) used to stand for, and is a slap in the face to those of us who have supported her for years. It is nice to see her poking at obama over this issue, but she has lost much of her credibility by joining forces with Gingrich.

Posted on February 2, 2012 at 4:17amPalin- Rubio debate topics seem to be on target. The freedom from religion people are running a smoke screen for the President who seems to believe he can hold the Pope hostage over all the bad priests. We can still win with both Bishops off the board if we coordinate our Rooks and Knights. The evil from within will cite case law after case law. This is also a distractor to be rectified. Constitutional law must remain our province so that evil shall not prevail. If they want abortion so badly, let us start with thier terms of office! Good people must prevail, the alternative is every bit as gristly and ghastly of the blind, mindless killing of children.

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 4:00pmThe jerks in Washington keep trying to put band aids on the economy, but do not correct the source of the problem! A trillion here, a trillion there, a trillion everywhere – bankrupting our country!
Report Post »Since demographics is what drives the economy, I believe that biggest source of the economic problem is the abomination of law passed by bigoted, immoral, liberal supreme court justices called Row v. Wade. Since the passing of this law FROM THE BENCH, over 50 million little, defenseless babies had their heads crushed and their brains sucked out just because women could not keep their legs crossed, because some found that having a baby was inconvenient or because Planned Parenthood talked people into abortion in order to increase their profits. (They should NOT receive federal funds.)
Roe v. Wade was passed in January 1973, so those aborted would have been 0 to 39 years old. They would have required that schools were built, roads were updated, required a larger energy grid and that at least 20 million more homes/apartments were built. They would have gotten married, had children, raised families, bought a house or rented an apartment, bought clothes, bought food, bought refrigerators, computers, cell phones, books, washers, dryers, dish washers, furniture and many more products that would have caused more factories to be built to manufacture these products and more stores to sell them in.
Now, because of Roe v. Wade, we have had over three years of recession with no sign

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 10:50amThe Catholic Church is beginning to reap what it has sown. And I’m not speaking about the normal member, but it’s leadership. They supported the government healthcare mandate, the Catholic Church’s stance that healthcare is a right is what is jumping up to bite them in the ass now. When will people start to realize, that when you advovate the violation of any civil liberties, which they did by supporting the healthcare law, you leave yourself open to it’s abuses as well. Now maybe they will actually take a pro-freedom and liberty stance on healthcare? They asked for and supported government intervention in healthcare, and now they‘re upset that it’s not going as planned? Come on, when the hell has government ever done anything right except steal?

Posted on February 1, 2012 at 2:47pmThis to me sums up how Americans have allowed themselves to be herded by what is essentially a ruling class.
First, the fact is established that Obama must be removed. Then we are told 18 months before the election which candidates are credible, as if that could actually be known.
The establishment then works diligently to present only one viable choice – usually by systematically and dishonestly destroying any other alternative. There are votes of course, but they are staged in manipulated primaries with such BS narratives as to leave the outcome in no doubt.
The theme of “vote for x, he’s the only choice to beat y”, has been used so many times it should be a bumper sticker. It’s a tool of manipulation, herding the sheep into group think. How else would people be convinced to vote for jumping in a frying pan because you’re sick of the fire?
I‘ll also ask the question of why the GOP and the media think it’s a good thing for 4 states to decide the Presidential candidate for everyone else? There hasn‘t been a vote west of the Mississippi and they’re calling for everyone to essentially call the race.
This whole process smells. For a country who used to mock the USSR having elections with pre-selected candidates, I‘m amazed at how similar we’ve become.
