Sarkozy: Shouldn’t Have Let Greece In Eurozone

Although a tentative deal on how to treat the financial crisis in the eurozone was reached yesterday, there are still tensions among its leaders. There is also some voiced regret for how the eurozone has performed in recent years and for past decisions that were made.
French President Nikolas Sarkozy says that although he supports reforms intended to allow Greece to remain in the euro, it was a mistake to let the country join the single currency a decade ago because the country‘s economic figures were false and it wasn’t ready, the Guardian reports.
“If the euro had exploded on Wednesday night, all of Europe would have exploded,” he told French TV. “If Greece had defaulted there would have been a domino effect carrying everyone away.”
However, Greece, whose massive debt almost pushed all of the eurozone into destructive bankruptcy, was not happy to be publicly singled out by the French.
“Greece is in the middle of the storm, but it is not the source of the problems of European debt and deficits,” Greece’s foreign minister told the BBC.
“We see this with Portugal, Ireland, Spain, and Italy. So it doesn‘t help to a scapegoat particular country when you’re dealing with a European problem.”

Posted on October 30, 2011 at 1:05pmWe’ll take the ****** and the Whops, but we don’t want the Irish! Once again the French show their arrogance. It’s funny how they always claim that Americans are so rude yet this fine example of tolerance comes right from their leader.
It‘s a shame that when the French are over run by muslims and the caliphate we won’t be around this time to protect them, I like french cuisine. Othert han that, not too much to like.

Posted on October 29, 2011 at 10:02amHe is correct of course and now Spain and Italy have zero incentives to contril their spending. It would be like bailing out California. Next week IIlonois and the week after Ny would demand the same deal.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 8:09pmPlease….I always wondered how the Greeks could afford to hold the Olympics….They did everything with no money down. The same liberal mentality which caused our housing crisis has kept Greece, Finland, Portugal, Spain and even Italy riding the gravy train for the last two decades and it is now time to pay the piper. And we always have to hear about what a great health system the French have which we will soon find out has been a bunch of BS.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 6:58pmEurope will get its social and economic justice stuck right up you know where. Like our own OWS crowd, they expected something for nothing, paid for healthcare, education, soft, light-work jobs with all kinds of perks, early retirements with big payouts, etc. Of course, like all the greedy self absorbed always do, they never care where the money comes from as long as it comes. And when it can’t come anymore, their selfish (false) sense of entitlement sends them into anarchistic rage, anger and destruction. Just watch……. It’s coming to them and then to U.S. unless WE CHANGE COURSE PRONTO!

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 4:07pmIf every country’s slate is wiped clean and they all start over, who are the big losers? Big money? Think about it, how does it end? Socialism is not the answer as we see; however, neither is democarcy as we see. All our loved freedoms are what’s doing us in. PC and help thy neighbor rather than the Lord helps those who help themselves. The harder I work the luckier I get. Any way we look at it, the losers win because we haved been conditioned to accept failure.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 2:36pmWell duh. Shouldn’t have started the Eurozone in the first place. Everyone with even just half a brain was against it. And not just Greece. Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Eastern Europe, none of them should have been in it.
Do away with the Euro. Do away with the EU. We don’t need it. We don’t want it. We want our country back! We don’t want it ruled by some corrupt anti-democrate in Brussels.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 2:13pmIt WILL still happen, there can be no other possible outcome. They have reached the point predicted by Margaret Thatcher decades ago and “run out of other peoples money”.
What sane individual could look at this and then support a movement, whether it is the OWS vermin or the current occupant of the White House who are trying to force America down this same path? Socialism in Europe is literally failing before their eyes and they STILL insist it will work. Doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results, whether that is the definition of insanity or stupidity, why in the hell would we do it?

Substitute “Socialist” for “European” in this sentence and it tell you the root of the problem.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 2:11pmSocialist overspending and budget deficits exist in more than just Greece. Take note, the blame-game now hitting Greece will hit the U.S. very soon here.
I wonder if the EU will note how much TARP and Stimulus funds went to ‘save’ the European economy so far. Their papers didn’t mind mentioning the U.S. stimulus bump and save for their economy at the time… But I think we‘ll just be the ’bad’ guys in the end.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 8:35pmYes….but the Chinese system is slow to improve the quality of life for their billions of people. Because of the trade imbalance partially caused by their currency controls they have an enormous amount of sovereign wealth they are unable to spend in China. So they place it in the safest investment in the World…US Treasuries.

Posted on October 28, 2011 at 2:30pmCorrect, and when it happens over there, WE are finished over here. Europe is our largest trading partner, when that house of cards collapses, the whole world goes down with it. The only good thing to come out of it will be that the Chinese, like the last one to leave the party, will get stuck with the check.
You need to be ready, your fate is not in your hands as long as you remain reliant on others for basic needs.
