According to the UN, about 827 million people around the world live in “slums.” As Business Insider points out, “slums” is a bit of a fluid term that can mean anything from small downtrodden working-class neighborhoods to whole cities in transition.
BI has pulled together a collection of satellite images showing some of the world’s largest slums:
Petare, Venezuela — 600,000 – 1 million people

Sadr City, Iraq — approx. 2 million people
Neza-Chalco-Itza barrio, a slum in Mexico City — approx. 4 million people

The Bath party in Iraq grew out of the fascist after world war two and were Progressives that’s why the Democrats were trying to protect Sadam

Posted on February 8, 2011 at 6:07amHaving lived in a “third world” or “developing” country, we can speak to the fact that many of the world’s poor are perfectly happy living that way: no responsibilities, no bills. They live freely off the land and off the government. Boy, can they put on a show though when called upon! “Oh, poor me!” They are, often and maybe for the most part, beggars rather than choosers. “Choosers” get up even when we don’t want to, go to work when staying home is so tempting, rear our children to be obedient and respectful even when it would be easier to “let it slide”. You can see where that attitude has gotten us…..“Letting things slide” speaks to us, each and everyone.
As SOLAVERITAS entered above, the BIBLE tells us that the poor will always be with us. Some simply choose to be poor. I would add, this not only means the financially “destitute”, but more especially the “Poor in SPIRIT” as we see exhibited in spades on the left and in the current leadership in the USA and around the world. Some of the wealthiest people in the world continually choose not to love JESUS nor to let HIM into their hearts and lives because HIS coming into a life shatters our self-importance and puts all the glory onto HIM. To me, those people are the poorest of the poor. How terribly sad that GOD has blessed them so much with worldly goods, and they have so very little on HIS side of the eternal ledger to show for all the blessings from HIM.

Never mind we regulary send money to help poor countries and send aid when there are disasters. We have been blessed for that. But of course we have those who want to destroy us from within. They stray from the truth, attemp to change history and do every thing they can to be in control. And like rodents they scurry around leaving their droppings everywhere they go.

Most of them live in countries where their leaders live in luxury and are all corrupt. Most of the foreign aid from the United States goes to corrupt countries where they generally do nothing for the poor. Asia is the worst I have personally seen. I have never seen such corruption and poverty. Their countries leaders ? Bastards all!

Posted on February 8, 2011 at 2:34amLet’s send Barney Frank abroad to solve their problems. He can tax the rich and house the poor in all these countries. I wonder how they will deal with the housing bubble and financial meltdown that will surely result? I wonder why so many people think that it is a government‘s duty to solve the people’s problems with the people cannot solve their own problems? Ronald Reagan had it right when he stated that “government IS the problem”! Maybe GE should give them all some brandy-new CFL’s so they can save money on their utility bills? Gosh, maybe their governments should give them all $7,000US toward the purchase of a Chevy Volt! Gosh, can you imagine how that much would help GM? Hmmmm, 7MM cars for 7MM people–the subsidy would only cost $49,000,000,000 ($49 Billion for you elected officials out there). Wow, that would pay for a new engine plant or two in Mexico, wouldn’t it? Seriously, why don’t they simply redeploy all the vehicles sitting in embargo pens in Haiti, awaiting import tax duties–just pull them out of Haiti and give them to Venezuela, Iraq and Mexico, and maybe a few to Eqypt so all those spontaneous, unorganized, rioters can have their insurrection and then be surprised at how they were ‘played’ by the Islamic Brotherhood!!! What a wonderful World it would be!!!

… don’t blame those that want to give every (unborn) human a chance.
… don’t blame those who want to give every child a female parent (mother) and a male parent (father).
… don’t blame those who want to preserve liberty so that free will can have a chance to escape the slum.
… don’t blame God … it is the way of man … at least, before you fix the slum …. get right with God

Posted on February 8, 2011 at 2:46ami would put the blame where it belongs…………….government mismanagement and politicians
this is all the governments faults period, as they are the ones that create the environment that people either can succeed in, or drown in
the free-er the people are to do what they choose, the fewer poor and desolate they population is, and this is proven over and over around the world
you want to stop above situations from growing? and actually shrink them dramatically, the only thing a government has to do, is enforce fair laws equally for everyone. PERIOD
surprisingly if you follow laws that enforce a few basic and fair ideals, everyone wins.
those who break the law, lose, and those who follow the law, have a chance to become successful, which in turn, enriches others, which then allows them to succeed, and the circle is repeated.
but when governments write unfair laws, that allow them to pick and choose winners, and laws that help one person succeed, by preventing another from also succeeding, then the growth is diminished
when governments think that the people work for them, the people , as a majority live as demonstrated in the above pictures
those countries are on the opposite side of the spectrum, and we can only pray they can move in our direction, but this current administration, and many of the last administrations have us moving in their direction.
the sad thing is, the way our government was designed, some of us would win big, some of us wouldnt, but we all had the opportunity to try, and in this design, the mere fact that we could succeed, and that many did, we became the richest country in the world. and when more became richer, more peoples living conditions improved. and in our success, we have raised the living conditions of millions around the world, but we can only do so much on our own, and if these countries governments dont have their citizens interests at heart, no amount of aid will ever make a dent in the situation

Then the go through all the U.S., mostly liberal, cities. The only commentary is about unequal wealth distribution. Hatred of success is being stoked to make jealousy an excuse for government power. Never mind that government power has created these disasters and that the very mindset that this attitude promotes, “I will never make it unless I can take some of what they have,” is what keeps people poor.

Posted on February 8, 2011 at 12:26pmMore like 3 billion people live in poverty compared to the USA. Anyone who travels outside the USA to Central/S America, Africa, Asia, Indonesia, Middle East, knows the extent of poverty. Our poorest street people are rich compared to the poor in these regions.
Interestingly, every impoverished country has two things in common – a lack of individual property rights and a government that controls and redistributes wealth.

The people of Guadalupe live in slums, high on rum, and no way for self improvement thanks to France.
